Bossy Brothers #4

Bossy Bride: Emma and Jesse

Rate this book
Let the weddings begin!

I love the Dumas clan. I really do. I adore Emma’s bossy mother, her too-tall, but lovable father, and her three intimidating, tattooed brothers. And Saturday night dinners have been the BEST.

Seriously, the BEST.

I don’t even mind that we have to take Emma’s corporate jet down to Key West every freaking weekend to make that date. They really are everything I never had, and always wanted, in a family.

But… but… they are maybe just a little bit crazy. And that’s saying something considering my last name.

So when Emma gets tired of her mother’s constant wedding plans and offers up a spur-of-the-moment elopement in Vegas… well… my answer is a big, Hell, yeah!

I figured we’d hit up that famous drive-through wedding chapel, tie the knot with Elvis officiating, and make it back home in time for Christmas Eve dinner.

But I might’ve underestimated Emma’s sassy mom just a wee little bit.

Because here she is. At my wedding.

And she is having none of it.

Because she brought everyone with her.

J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

OMG..... this book was AH-MAZE-ING!!! If you thought this was going to be your normal wedding book, think again.....after all this is Emma and Jesse's wedding-Dumas family and Boston family-so nothing normal about it at all. What happens when you runaway to Vegas for an impromptu wedding? Let's just say between rollercoasters, pirates, skydiving planes, Italian families, a shootout..... what the hell else could go wrong? This read was filled with smiles, laughs, witty banter and some very bossy women that will have you captivated by the story and inhaling page after page of this story that you won't want it to end! If you've read the previous books you don't want to miss out on this read so grab it now!

I listened to this book on Audible and I loved it! This is a hot and funny storyline! JA Huss writes amazing books and I am addicted to them.
Book 1 was how Jesse Boss and Emma Dumas met. I skipped to this book because I loved their story so much. This story starts with Jesse and Emma going to Key West for her parents Christmas Eve dinner. When there they decide to go to Las Vegas for a quickie wedding. Jesse is crazy about Emma and will do anything for her, so he agrees. Emma’s friend hooks them up with a man named Fingers and he sets them up with a roller coaster of wedding ceremonies! My favorite was how they got tricked into starring in a Pirate wedding instead of a wedding ceremony! 😂 I simply love this author she writes with romance and a great storyline ❤️ I’m so in love with Emma and Jesse, they are perfect for each other and their beautiful love. The narrators were amazing Ava Erickson and Teddy Hamilton are also my favorites.

Always a guaranteed hit

No matter what this author writes, it is guaranteed to be good. I force myself to read slower because I know somehow she will drop either an Easter Egg or something that will the characters together from years ago. Her mind truly is a wickedly wondrous thing. Add in her ALWAYS EPIC EOBS and I'm in heaven.

Loved seeing the characters, old and new, in the perfect , over-the-top, and hilarious wedding. I implore everyone that has never dived in this pool of amazing books of this author to rectify this and do this ASAP.

Well, this was a fun romantic romp with some steamy sex scenes that I started Saturday before bed and finished Sunday morning while still luxuriating in bed! I wouldn’t have minded having Jesse next to me… but then I wouldn’t have finished reading. ;)

This is the first book I’ve read by J.A. Huss, and the fourth book in the Bossy Brothers series, but you can read this one out of order since Huss gives you enough background. But the background she does give made me want to start with book one in the series, Bossy Brothers: Jesse!

I really enjoyed that the sex was hot and heavy right at the beginning, but then Huss actually wrote a good story. Some romance books are all sex, and I like to be able to sink my teeth into a storyline too. It was also nice to lose myself in a world of uber-rich and beautiful people. Nothing heavy, just fun and light.

Once Jesse and Emma ditch out on their Christmas responsibilities with family and head to Vegas to elope, because “Karen Krakken Channing will not plan my wedding, will not be at my wedding, and she’s certainly not going to be IN my wedding,” that’s when the outrageous millionaire lifestyle gets even more crazy and filled with lots of amusing moments.

The reader gets to enjoy various weddings that are more insane than the last leading up to the super sweet last wedding. And while all of these shenanigans are going on, we are still learning more about Jesse, Emma, and the rest of their family members. Huss does an amazing job balancing character creation and funny scenes.

Definitely give the Bossy Brothers series a try, and Huss also has a bunch of others series too for you to check out!

Finally finished this one! OMG LOVED it. This was hilarious. So technically you don't have to have read Emma and Jesse's Story (Bossy Brothers Jesse) to follow this but you might appreciate it more if you have read their story. This is a CRAZY story about a couple trying to escape a too-bossy mother and an unwanted childhood friend taking over their wedding planning, so they escape to Vegas on a jet to get married on their terms. And there is no possible way you could guess anything that happens in this book. The only formula JA Huss follows is her own.

AMAZING. I thought this was going to be a cutsie type romance story about a wedding with a bride and groom, and that's all. Nope. It was a EPIC roller coaster of a story. Bravo, JA Huss, for not dialing it in like most authors do for books like this. This was unexpected & awesome.

It just wouldn’t be a Bossy wedding if things didn’t go completely off the rails, lol. Who knew that a Vegas wedding would be so extravagant and disorganized. Luckily everything and everyone pulled together in the end for a picture perfect Christmas.

Bossy Bride was billed as "pee in your pants funny." I didn't think it was that much of a comedic romp but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good read. I found it a bit deeper and felt it was consistent with Jesse in its OTT-ness. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Mama Dumas definitely likes having things her way. It's no surprise her daughter would be the same way. I didn't find it odd that Emma was upset by her mother taking the reigns for her wedding plans but I did find her actions/reactions a bit OTT. Of course, we're talking about a woman who bought Jesse at a charity auction with plans of revenge. So maybe not that much out of character.

Considering Jesse's dream at the beginning of the book, and considering he's a Boston, I have to admit to having conspiracy theories when all the wedding shenanigans were going down. Especially at the end. And I also admit to hoping things would happen similarly to how they did.

I don't think I can say I'm disappointed with Bossy Bride per se. I don't think it lived up to its billing but that could just be me. However, after getting about a third of the way in, I accepted it for what I felt it was going to be and settled in to enjoy the ride. Again, Bossy Bride was consistent with Jesse so it was lighter fare than the other installments. I suppose I simply prefer Huss's meatier stories.

Emma and Jesse's wedding was absolutely fantastic that left me laughing out loud at so many places. I found this book so easy to relate to with all the drama of other people and I couldn't have asked for the author to pull out any more feels for me after this read.

*I received a free copy of Bossy Bride. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which was honest and unbiased.*

This was cute, and I'm sure many readers found it funny, too. I guess I wasn't in the mood for this kind of over the top humor today - because I love these bossy brothers and their significant others SO much.
Bossy Bride just didn't work for me for some reason - but if you're in the mood for a fun romp in Vegas, you should definitely get it.

Are you ready for this hilarious wedding extravaganza? Well, then this is definitely the book for you. Jesse Boston and Emma Dumas are back for the wedding of the year...and all the craziness that ensues leading up to their nuptials. Will they be able to control Mrs. Dumas, her wedding plan hijacking and everything else? We fell in love with them in Bossy Brothers:Jesse, now fall for them all over again! A very light hearted, funny, sweet and loving holiday/wedding novella. I enjoyed all the other cameos in the story and of course Jesse!! Told in dual POV

I love Emma and Jesse. They are the funniest couple and they do the craziest things together. On this journey, Emma thinks her mother is going to take over the planning of her wedding and it appears to be that way when her mother "hires" a childhood nemesis to be Emma's wedding planner. Emma decides that she wants her wedding to be the way she wants it and not the big production that her mother was going to plan for her. Jesse loves Emma and he family but he will always do what his beloved wants because he loves her so much. So they decided to fly to Las Vegas to get marry. Well with these 2, there is always some crazy adventure that they have to embark on so instead of a drive through wedding, they decided to have adventure weddings. The adventures these 2 went on to try and get married is full of craziness and hilarity. In the end, they are not sure if they want to get married without their family and friends but of course they have another surprise to await them!

I laughed so hard from when the two of them tried to escape from Emma's family to go to Las Vegas to when they decided to have adventure weddings. This was some of the craziest things that I didn't even know existed....maybe they don't but I could see it happening in Vegas. If you need something to take your mind off your troubles, this book will certainly do it and make you laugh so hard while doing it!

In this story, Emma is planning to get married to Jesse, the man of her dreams. However, her meddling mother ends up inviting Karen to be a part of her wedding. Karen is an old bully from when Jesse was young. In order to get back at her bossy mother, Emma decides they should get married in Vegas without anyone else there.

In the beginning, there are a lot of descriptions of things that happened in the past (probably so we can understand the various characters’ back stories, but this wasn’t really necessary & just made things a bit confusing, to be honest). It gets easier to read about a third of the way in.

When they go to Vegas, it really seems unbelievable everything that happens, along with just the idea of spending 100k in just a few hours.

As for the ending, with Karen’s involvement... Ugh. That was disappointing, to be honest.

All in all, I understand the whole thing was a set up for the story, but the idea of going to Vegas to skip over Karen’s contribution both to & in the wedding was just too exaggerated for me.

The ending was both annoying & perfect. I didn’t like how the Karen debacle ended, but I loved Emma’s gift to Jesse...

I read this story in the boxset entitled A Billionaire For Christmas.

Emma and Jesse get married!!!

It's Christmas Eve Eve and Emma and Jesse head to Key West for the tree lighting street party her parents put on each year. It's a huge deal that locals and tourist enjoy. On the flight down Emma's mom calls to let her know that her old time "BFF" is back in town, hint they were NOT BFFs. Emma freaks and wants to go home but they push on and when they arrive it's found out that Emma's mom has hired the ex Not BFF to plan the wedding. OH HELL NO. Emma FREAKS. So what do we do? Fly to Vegas to get married behind everyone's back of course! The weddings (there are several in the package they purchase) are INSANE! Rollercoasters and Pirate shows (I'm still sad this isn't actually a thing any more) and big Italian mob weddings then even a shootout. It's all chaotic and hilarious and tense for a little while there. The way it all ends up though...beautiful and meaningful and heartfelt and perfect for these two families.

Alonzo is up next and that'll be an ebook read instead of an audiobook so it'll take a bit longer since I can read with my ears all day at work but not read with my eyes all day at work.

Say I do to this book! 4 stars

You have to read Bossy Brothers: Jesse as this is the wedding of Jesse and Emma. Jesse and Emma go on an adventure filled with shenanigans when Emma’s bossy mom tries to take over planning her wedding, and Emma decided to foil her mom by secretly eloping to Vegas on Christmas Eve Day! This book was hilarious, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! Jesse was actually swoon-worthy in this book, and he loves Emma and her family so much. Emma was just as bossy as ever in this book, and she was delightfully unhinged in the best way in this book! Their wedding experience in Vegas was so over-the-top hilarious and entertaining but emotional at certain points, and I loved it all like this book!

Now that's some funny sh#t!!!

Well let's just say that after you read this book your dream wedding may look totally different now...lol!! Emma and Jesse's wedding was OMG, over the top and has me laughing all way through this book. When these people want to get married it is not just a drive thru wedding chapel and call it a day kind of wedding. They had a roller coaster, went skydiving, played pirates, even had a big Italian wedding party, but best of all was where they ended up and who was able to pull it all off for them. This was a totally hilarious read and I highly recommend it!

After all the stress and drama in the previous 3 Bossy Brothers books it’s a welcome relief to have all the fun and games with Jesse and Emma in Bossy Bride. The Bossy brothers are definitely taming their ways, and Jesse is so funny and entertaining in this hilarious fantasy wedding showdown. Trying to sneak off and get married in Vegas doesn’t quite go as planned for these two lovebirds. Of course we have Teddy Hamilton narrating Jesse again, and he is perfect with all the emotion, all the dry humour and all the fun sexy bits. Utter perfection. Now to Ava Erickson, again, nailed it. Totally, fun, totally enjoyable, and totally addictive. They were made for Jesse and Emma.

Bossy Bride is outstanding....

....I love a good wedding book me, but what I love more is when the wedding doesn't go to plan! Like stupidly-funny, this-isn't-normal, the-universe-is-against-us, did-that-really-just-happen-because-this-is-pure-nuts, doesn't go to plan kinda wedding 🤭🤭😂

Not only can Julie have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation and fear and excitement and nerves, she can also have you falling off with laughing....yet still puts in a few snippets that remind you of the overall series and also what's to come next - pure brilliance

I suggest you read the other 3 books in the Bossy Brothers series before diving into this one. This book is fanFREAKINGtastic! The ridiculous and hilarious situations that Jesse and Emma find themselves in can only come from a brilliant mind like Julie A Huss. I’ve read countless books about weddings so it’s quite difficult for an author to make the event extraordinary in my mind. This author succeeded and took it to the NEXT LEVEL with a dose of mystery and suspense thrown into the mix of comedy!

Ridiculously awesome chaos

This series. I think I'm in love.
Jesse and Emma are the epitome of bossiness- until you meet her mom. The hilarity of this story is off the charts.

This story of wedding one-uppedness is utter havoc yet total perfection for the two.

The things that stand out here are that life is what you make of it and family is whom you surround yourself with.

PS. gotta go read all the other JA Huss books now as this was my first series/books I've read by her. I'm an addict now.

This was book crazy! Non-stop crazy! There was such a feeling of urgency, like time was running out, that I found myself reading really fast, anxious, as the couple was trying to get through everything they needed to do, and get home. I found myself freaking out with Emma and Jesse every time something unexpected or unwanted happened to delay or disrupt their plans.

But it was fun, and really touching and sweet at the end, and I love Jesse so much. He's like this funny, goofy hot guy you can't help but love. And it's so cute how much he loves Emma. She is his jam! So cute!

Back in the groove

I've been listening to Julie's books since...well, forever, it seems and she never disappoints. This book is no exception. Even though I really don't have time to sit and read an entire book, I made an exception for this book. But it was no hardship to sit down and get into reading this book. Next, I'm waiting for the audio addition because Julie always delivers with her audios! She has some of my favorite narrators reading her work!

What a wild ride!

As she mentioned in her EOBS, JA is more prone to the mind blowing plot twists, not rom com. This one is more rom com with some fun plot twists. I love this side of the story! I agree that we needed more of Jesse and Emma's tale. It was a non-stop, couldn't put it down, don't want it to end read that makes me always wanting more. I can't wait to jump into the next book!

What a hoot! This book had everything! Pirates, roller skates, private jets, sky diving, weddings and more. Talk about exhausted! One whole day in Jessie and Emma’s life. I laughed so many times but there were curveballs thrown in to have you on the edge of your seat. I may have even said “No way! GTFO!” A couple times. This audio book is not to be missed. Be prepared because it’s literally all action!

This was a fun read. I definitely enjoyed this book more then their first initial book. You got to see how fun Jesse is and his fun personality.

Emma and Jesse went through hell and back of adventures trying to do a vegas wedding bc she was upset her mom took control on the wedding planning.

With all the twist and turns glad they got their wedding and now they will have a family themselves.

Now off to read about Emma's brother Alonzo.

Oof.

Not gonna lie. This was not my favorite. I’m love this series, but I’m still shocked at how disappointed I was with this book. It just felt SO RAMBLY & long-winded & soooo over the top. I couldn’t help but feel perpetually disappointed with all the wedding stuff, too.
The ending was pretty cute though. I do plan to continue with the series, so fingers crossed that the next book is much better.

I Do

Call me a romantic with a wild twist! Is there anything more engaging than a book by JA Huss? I think not, and I do love a wild twist. This woman is known for that and more. Her words scream off the page and into your head. Her story lines are amazing. You can't miss with a series from JA, they are all so good.

Cute Christmas wedding story about Bossy Brother Jesse and his bossy bride Emma. The whole family is involved in hijinks and craziness in this happily ever after tale meant to wrap up the Bossy Brothers and introduce the Dumas Brothers. I'm excited to meet Alonzo and see what's going on with Emma's family!!

Fun is the word for this book!

I had such a blast reading Jessie and Emma's wedding adventure! It could be called a Lampoon Wedding Vegas Adventure. Lol I loved their fun and funny first book and this was the icing on the proverbial wedding cake.

After working and fretting through a pandemic and two hurricanes, this was a breath of fresh air!
