Baby. Don’t let the name fool you.

Being Linear Tactical's easiest-going younger brother has never been a problem for Baby Bollinger. He likes people. He likes laughing. He likes life.

But he has secrets buried deep under his charming smile that would change everything.

Quinn Harrison-Pritchard doesn’t have secrets. What she does have is a big mess of a life that's painfully public.

Jobless. Blacklisted. Broke. Alone. Exactly where nobody wants to be as they hit their 39th birthday.

Oak Creek is supposed to be a fresh start. A chance to lick her wounds and figure out a plan. One that doesn’t include Baby Bollinger. But the vigorous, mouth-watering mechanic—anything but a baby—is pursuing her with a single-minded focus.

And doesn’t seem to care that she’s twelve years his senior.

But danger has followed Quinn to Oak Creek, someone from her past who is convinced she’s wronged him. And that she needs to pay with her life.

Only Baby can save her. But to do so, he’ll have to face the secrets he’s let define him for way too long. And resurrect the warrior buried inside.

I love this series and I love Janie Crouch. She has really grown as an author since her first book and "Baby" is one of her best yet. This younger man, older woman romance has so many layers that you don't even miss the pulse pounding action in her other books. I have waited for Baby's story since the start of the series and was surprised that Janie Crouch chose to pair him with an older woman.

Blake "Baby" Bollinger is the easy going, likable, town mechanic, part time Linear Tactical operator, and drop dead gorgeous, hot body, man. But, beneath his easy going exterior, Baby is hiding some not so easy secrets. When he meets Boy Riley's big sister, he is totally blown by her.

Dr. Quinn Harrison-Pritchard is now having a very good year. A lot of things are going totally wrong and when she is fired from her Harvard teaching job, and can't find anything else, she is forced to move the Oak Creek, Wyoming, where her younger brother lives. She take a part time job at a state college and a part time job as the lunch waitress at the Eagle's Nest just to make ends meet. Her first look at Baby Bollinger is hot enough to melt her panties. Too bad, on her second look, she decides that he is just to young for her, but boy, is he hot. When he pursues her, well what's a red blooded woman to do but let him catch her.

Unfortunately, Quinn's bad luck has followed her to Oak Creek. As the incidents ramp up, it looks like this is a lot more than bad luck and even as Quinn questions what is really happening and why, Baby just knows that there is a real threat to the woman he loves.

All Janie's books should come with a warning, something like, "Do not start reading me late at night!" They are all compelling page-turners, and Baby is no exception. A non-traditional romance between a younger man and a much older woman, Baby and Quinn are both heart-warming characters. I really enjoyed getting to know Baby, who is not what he appears to be on the surface. Quinn was lovely, and in many ways she was younger than Baby. It's fabulous reading about all the characters we've come to know and love in this series, with Ethan and Jess stealing the show on more than one occasion! Plenty of action in the book as well, which runs concurrently with Phoenix but gives another angle on events. And then there is that incredible run of bad luck that Quinn experiences...

And make sure you read the version with the bonus epilogue!

Lawless & Disorderly

Although I generally like Ms. Crouch’s writing style, these books always leave me with questions unanswered.

This book bears striking resemblance to the first book in the series, Cyclone, and the 2nd book in the series, Eagle. Quinn, like Annie and Charlie, is coming off a one-sided divorce in which her ex-husband took her to the cleaners. I find this confusing because Annie was an ER doctor in Florida and Quinn was an assistant professor at Harvard. Either of these jobs has a 6-figure pay scale, so it just doesn’t make sense to me that all of the women mismanage their money so badly that they end up in abject poverty hiding out in Oak Creek trying to make ends meet until the Princes Charming swoop in to save them.

Speaking of the Princes Charming rescuing princesses, I really don’t understand how it is that so many women end up in a small Wyoming town where they’re relentlessly terrorised. The crime in Oak Creek is spectacularly bad - to the point that it should be making national headlines. Annie has a serial rapist after her. Charlie’s former in-laws, like Jordan’s father, are moustache-twirling super villains. There’s homicide, rape, assault, kidnapping, sex trafficking, drug dealing, embezzlement, cyber crimes, burglary, vandalism, and arson - to name but a few of the crimes featured in the Linear Tactical series. Grace/Ray was a mind-controlled assassin, but easily subdued by Dorian (who has disappeared completely). The two Riley’s are victimised by an international terrorist. And Quinn is stalked for years by a former student who followed her to Massachusetts and Wyoming from his home in New York. Who has that kind of time? Most crimes are crimes of opportunity, but not Oak Creek, the town with the highest per capita of homicidal maniacs in the U.S..

What bothered me about this book is that it speaks to a larger truth that while Quinn was being harassed and crimes were being perpetrated against her, the local Sheriff, Gavin Zimmerman, treats her like she was the real criminal and goes out of his way to threaten and harass her. He firmly takes the side of Quinn’s stalker and doesn’t do much of anything to reduce crime in Oak Creek. It’s rather curious that Ms. Crouch opted to introduce Zimmerman as such a wantonly insensitive character given that he is featured in her next novel, Redwood.

Baby was another fantastic addition to the Linear Tactical series. Although not as action packed as in previous books, it certainly had the mystery and suspense with the beautiful and sometimes hot romance of Baby and college professor Quinn.
I love how in this book they all rally together to help out and protect their friends, despite what it might cost them. The mystery till the end had me hanging on.
I also liked the fact the secrets that Baby held on to, showed he was flawed and it was a valuable point to make to others. That you can overcome what seems insurmountable, with help and support and shouldn't be afraid to ask. Definitely a valid point. And all within the amazing back drop of a Linear Tactical setting.
This book was an ARC, and this is my voluntary and honest review of this fantastic book.

Good immersive read... I liked the plot for this one!

I do love the thread of Baby's name... that is, his belief!

Don't really like the fact that any kind of deal was made about the years between them... it would've probably not even been mentioned had it been the other way around... sighs.

19/05/23 Totally feel the same re the age thingy... should not matter... a jot. There was no power imbalance, so it shouldn't matter.

Blake "Baby" Bollinger is a happy go lucky kind of guy. Always with a smile and wink, no one sees his struggles. Quinn Harrison's struggles are well known and she is fleeing to Oak Creek to get some solitude. Despite their age difference, Quinn and Baby hit it off right away and they are slowly able to share their past with one another.

Quinn is a brilliant former professor at Harvard who is now seen as a liability by employers due to "erratic behavior". This woman can't catch a break! Her ex-husband is a douche canoe of the highest order, Harvard blacklisted her, and she begins questioning her own mind. Baby has a job he loves, but a provision in a will might cause him to lose it. He hasn't told anyone he has been going to college or that he could lose his business. But, with only a few months left to meet the deadline, he realizes he needs help.

For me, it was obvious who was out to get Quinn. What was unique about Quinn's situation is the way Crouch focused on the impact to her mental health. I also thought the chemistry between Baby and Quinn felt very natural. Normally, age gap tropes are hit or miss for me, but in the case of Baby, it was effortless. Also, fans of the series will enjoy the glimpses into past couples and their adorable kids! But no worries if you haven't read the other books-this really does stand alone quite well.

Fans of age gap romance, secrets, danger, and true love will gobble up Baby just like I did!

Quinn had book smarts and planned things down to the second, but her common sense sometimes checked out, leaving behind an innocently awkward personality struggling to figure out her new chaotic life. She could be annoying with her self doubts, but I liked her regardless-she was relatable and just too nice not to!

Blake (aka Baby) was a swoony guy! He fell for the heroine right from the start and even though he was technically younger than Quinn, his maturity spoke volumes. He’s played the sweet, funny, be everyone’s friend from the start of the series and it was awesome to finally peel back Baby’s hidden layers!

With an older woman/younger guy trope, sweet chemistry, and gaslighting suspense, Baby was a thrilling read from start to finish!

I received an advance reader copy from the author and this is my honest review.

Predictable Older Woman, Younger Man Trope

I was so excited for Baby’s story in the Linear Tactical Series because ALL the past books were great reads. This one, unfortunately didn’t quite do it for me. The story was weak and the mystery storyline resolution revolving around who was sabotaging Quinn did not give me that edge of your seat thrill ride I was accustomed to with Jamie Crouch books.

You would think Quinn was turning 50 instead of being 39. Her self deprecating behavior got old fast. The only sweet and tender moments were the cameo appearances of Jess and Ethan. I just love those two kids and Ms. crouch always does a superb job with these two characters.

Usually epilogues or second epilogues give readers the satisfying feeling of a great HEA. In this case, it left readers with an unsatisfying conclusion and unanswered questions leading to frustration. We’ll all have to wait till Redwood is released to hopefully get some answers. I will continue with the series because I very much enjoyed the other books. Hopefully, Ms. Crouch redeems herself once again.

Pretty good

The age gap romance here was sexy. My only problem was the over abundance of proof that something wasn't right with the stuff happening & her totally unbelievable ability to ignore it. She basically gaslighted herself. The accident too was abruptly glossed over. A head injury & an eye swollen shut, even if it went down, the resulting bruising should have made Baby mention & show sympathy when he saw her soon after, but they only talked about her car! It was weird. She was instantly over it.

4.25 stars--BABY is the ninth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Linear Tactical. This is twenty-seven year old, auto mechanic / part time Linear Tactical specialist Blake ‘Baby’ Bollinger, and thirty-nine year old, professor /waitress Dr. Quinn Harrison-Pritchard’s story line. BABY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of BABY cross-over with the events of book eight PHOENIX.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Quinn and Baby) BABY follows the building relationship between twenty-seven year old, auto mechanic / part time Linear Tactical specialist Blake ‘Baby’ Bollinger, and thirty-nine year old, professor /waitress Dr. Quinn Harrison-Pritchard. Quinn Harrison’s arrival in Oak Creek brings with it all sorts of problems. Divorced, broke and blacklisted by the university for which she used to work, Quinn struggles daily to survive. Meeting Blake ‘Baby’ Bollinger is all kinds of wrong when our heroine discovers that the man who is about to steal her heart is a student at the local college, a college for which she is currently teaching. For the past two years everything that could have happened, happened to Quinn Harrison, and the accidents and questionable events continue with her arrival in Oak Creek, the town in which her brother, Linear Tactical owner Riley ‘Phoenix’ Harrison currently resides. Trying to keep her whereabouts secret is increasingly difficult as not only do the police want to question Quinn about a series of events, but her arrival continues to draw red flags wherever she goes. When the ‘accidents’ begin to take on a familiar pattern, Baby calls in the Linear Tactical team in an effort to uncover the truth about what is happening and why. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Baby and Quinn, and the potential fall-out as Quinn’s past is determined to take down our story line heroine.

Quinn Harrison-Pritchard is Riley Boy’s sister but our heroine keeps secrets everything that happened including her arrival in the town of Oak Creek but the town gossips spread rumors faster than an out of control fire, gossip that increases with the number of questionable incidences pointed at our story line heroine. Blake ‘Baby’ Bollinger is a high-school drop out but is focusing on making his place in the world. Baby Bollinger is also keeping secrets, a secret that is about to upend his well-ordered world.

The relationship between Baby and Quinn is one of immediate attraction but Quinn struggles with their age difference, and the tainted past that continues to threaten her sanity and peace. Baby knows Quinn is the woman he loves but as Quinn’s life continues to spiral out of control Baby must uncover the truth before Quinn is lost to our hero, forever. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Most of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Zac and Annie (Cyclone #1), Finn and Charlotte (Eagle #2), Shamrock (Aiden & Violet #), Angel (Gabriel & Jordan 4), Ghost (Dorian), Echo (Cade & Peyton), officer Gavin Zimmerman, as well as café owner Lexi Johnson. Baby’s nieces and nephews are good for a couple of chuckles and ‘poo’. Gavin and Lexi’s storyline is next in Redwood.

BABY is a startling story of vengeance and retaliation, relationships, family, secrets and love. The character driven premise is suspense filled and edgy; the characters are energetic and edgy; the romance is tender and seductive. BABY is a passionate and fated story of second chances and happily ever after.

I love this series so much! I keep waiting for a book not to be good, but each book is as good as the last!

I feel like I've been waiting for Baby's book forever. I was excited to finally read his story! He's such a great character. He's the definition of a cinnamon roll hero. Strong, sturdy, loyal, handsome, smart, sweet, kind, respectful, funny and loving.

Quinn is a bit more of a stick-in-the-mud personality. But she's been living in academics since she was 18 (even longer if you count high school) and had been married to an even more stick-in-the-mud man for 10 years. She's been divorced for 2 years when the book starts. I don't usually like characters who are wound as tight as Quinn is, but with everything that happened to her, and how she's been living the last decade or more, made sense for her to be like that. And Baby brought out such good things in her, almost immediately. I really liked that she wasn't constantly resisting him. She did have lots of insecurities and doubts about herself, but as soon as he'd squash them, she'd let them go.

The suspense part of it was really interesting. What happened to Quinn was text book gaslighting. I've never read such an intense version of it, to the point where she was seriously questioning her sanity. While I didn't guess who the culprit was, I wasn't surprised when it was revealed because it made so much sense. I was actually mentally knocking myself over the head for not guessing it earlier on.

There's definitely sexy times though not as detailed as some of her other books. There's at least three scenes, one oral (man to woman) and two full penetration, as well as descriptions of memories of other things they'd done. There's some mild language, but not a lot.

I'm excited about the next book! It's labeled as a bonus book and a crossover with another authors characters, so I'm not totally sure what to expect, but I'm excited to read it!

I loved the rest of the series and i could not wait to see more of Baby so this book more than fullfilled my expectations. Really it was excellent BUT while some other could be read as stand alone i would not recommend that for this instalment as the timeline cross with that of book 8 most is what happen after the precedent book but not all so i feel it best to be read in order.

The story is really catching your interest; and if you love dog Grizzly will win you over in no time. Baby has secret and some hurt him more than what we could imagine so it was interesting to discover them to understand him better and Quinn is simply the perfect match for him as she does believe in him and support him when he needs it.
Now Baby is still a perfect alpha and protecting the woman dear to him we see that easily but in this case it kind of felt more balanced and it was really refreshing. Now all linear tactical women are not to be taken lightly and it was great to see them all but Quinn sure has a place in the team.

the suspense is well done and teh vilains get what they deserve ..;oki i would have loved to learn her ex had to pay her back but globably this was a perfect ending. The bonus epiloge is great but it was not that necessary either i was perfectly happy after the first ending so it's more for those wanting a glimpse in the future ( long future).

Terrific book. I love the Linear Tactical books and this one was no exception. Quinn is Riley (Phoenix) Harrison's older half-sister. After a run of bad luck that resulted in the end of her marriage, the loss of her prestigious job at Harvard, being blacklisted in the academic community, and financial ruin, Quinn arrives in Oak Creek looking to restart her life. Part of that includes a job as a waitress at the Eagle's Nest bar. At the age of thirty-nine, it has been many years since she waitressed, but she is desperate for the work. She also has a job teaching at the local college. On her first day, where she wonders if she'll last the day, she is rescued from an obnoxious customer by the hottest guy she's ever met.

Baby is Finn's (Eagle) younger brother. Twenty-seven years old, he is laid-back, always cheerful with a kind word for everyone, and ready to help wherever he is needed. He dropped out of high school at seventeen and went to work for the local mechanic. He has been a regular character in the series, most recently as one of the participants in the Wild Wyoming Adventure Race in Riley's book. Baby has a lot on his mind right now, as a secret he's been guarding for most of his life is about to put an end to his career dreams. He hadn't planned on being distracted by a fascination with the pretty new waitress at the Eagle's Nest.

I loved watching the relationship between Quinn and Baby develop. The two of them had an instant connection, though Quinn tried hard to resist it. Her life is such a mess that adding a relationship to it is not in her plans, especially one with a man twelve years younger than she is. For Baby, age is just a number. He is drawn to her humor, intelligence, and determination. Quinn is just as drawn to him, but the age difference bothers her, plus everything that has happened to her did a number on her self-confidence. Baby isn't one to give up and offers some "non-date" get-togethers as friends. Those don't go quite as he hoped, and I laughed out loud at the "help" he got from Ethan and Jess. Baby had some insecurities of his own. When his secret collided with Quinn's other life, he had to decide if he was willing to trust her. Quinn's support and belief in him made a huge difference in the way he saw himself and his future. I think some of the biggest changes were to Quinn. When she arrived in Wyoming she was still the stiff, buttoned-up professor she had been at Harvard. Thanks to Baby, she discovered the more relaxed, fun-loving woman who had been hiding inside. There was a heart-wrenching scene at the end when they allowed their insecurities to pull them apart. I loved the ending and seeing them make their dreams come true. The epilogue was great with a nice surprise for Baby and Quinn.

Baby and Quinn's friendship and growing feelings aren't all that is going on. The bad luck that led to Quinn's flight to Wyoming seems to have followed her. It's mostly little, annoying things like her credit card not working, and her ex-husband calling to accuse her of harassment. But when break-ins and vandalizing mimic things that happened back in Boston, Quinn begins to question herself. Trouble continues to intensify until her life is in danger. I was on the edge of my seat as Baby and the others raced against time to save her. I loved how Baby's challenges played such a huge part in the confrontation.

Good Lord Almighty I absolutely loved these two. This book had funny banter, great chemistry and just enough mystery that will keep you glued to your seat not wanting it to end.

This book just like the rest in the series, was such a great read. I loved the way Baby made Quinn feel. Baby with his affection and love brought her out of her shell. His way of loving her told us just how special and great man he was. I could relate to Quinn on so many levels.

I'm baffled that this is book 9 and I've yet to read a book in this series that I didn't like. Janie Crouch keeps on delivering in a BIG way proving why this might be my favorite series out there.

Baby, a.k.a. Blake, is such a fun character. Always the guy with a kind word or a fun story, he's been a bit of an enigma throughout the Linear Tactical series. Intelligent, sweet, strong, protective, loyal to his friends and family, as well as loving, Baby might be the ideal book boyfriend. He's so invested in taking care of his friends and family, however, he almost blows his chance with the beautiful, intelligent Quinn. Will his persistence be enough to win the woman of his dreams?

Plagued by a secret he has been carrying for years, Baby is torn between pursuing Quinn and laying himself bare to her. Quinn has her own misgivings about becoming involved with a handsome, younger man. Despite his ready smiles and friendly demeanor, Quinn begins to see the depth and conflict that are buried beneath the façade Baby presents to the rest of the world. She is intensely attracted to him, and despite her misgivings about their differences, she cannot walk away from him.

Like the other books in the series, 'Baby' has a suspenseful storyline that will pit Baby against the man targeting his Quinn. No spoilers here, but the mystery aspect of the story is unique and will keep the reader guessing until the end. Five stars for this intense suspenseful romance.

This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

One of my favorite LT books to date!

Loved the characters so much. I don't see how "Baby" Blake Bollinger and Dr. Quinn Harrison-Pritchard could be right for anyone else but each other. <3

A good gaslighting stalker mystery. Some great action. Steamy and emotionally satisfying. Loved it!

Another absolutely brilliant book by Janie Crouch.

You can feel the sparks in the relationship between Baby (Blake) and Cupcake (Quinn) . I loved how their relationship developed and how true love runs it’s course. There is a great teaser at the end ( hint hint Janie I need the next book!) . It is great to see past & future Linear Tactical characters appear in the book.

A must read for all romantic suspense fans.

What a great book! I loved it and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. I recently reread it and loved it even more.

Baby was such a wonderful man, always helping others. But never let them see that he had problems of his own. I was so happy when he found love. Quinn couldn't believe it when Baby started pursuing her. Not only was she older than him, but she also didn't have a job and was broke. Why would he love her? Because she's beautiful, intelligent and a good person, that's why.

Not only is this a wonderful romance, but also a great mystery that will have you guessing right to the end.

If you want romantic suspense with all the feels, this is it.

I can't tell you how glad I am to have gotten an ARC of this book for review consideration. This is a wonderful story and I highly recommend it.

I love the Linear Tactical series but I was so distracted by the fact that the heroine's age is brought up EVERY FREAKING CHAPTER that I couldn't enjoy it as much as I normally would.

I applaud having an "older woman" (although 39 isn't that old!) but the number of times it was mentioned was ridiculous. Funny how when it's an older man it is barely mentioned but here it was a constant theme. And for no real reason aside from the reservations she has that he might want a family one day - which only seemed to be brought up because hey, older woman, of course she's thinking that. It wasn't an important part of the story. The book wouldn't have suffered if it was left out, in fact it would have annoyed me a lot less.

If you can get past that (which obviously I didn't) it is a decent book.

I liked this one, liked Quinn and Baby, but I felt like the secrets they were keeping and the problems that they encountered were so obvious. There were nuggets left that it seemed like everyone ignored, especially Quinn's troubles. I did really love that despite being almost 40, despite being very prim and proper, that Baby was able to get under her skin and help her cut loose. If anyone deserved to it was her! I also loved that Quinn didn't belittle Baby when she realized his issue, instead jumped into helping him find a way to work around things.

I am pretty sure I have said this about every book in this series (because it is true) but BABY is fabulous! The Linear Tactical series is one of my favorite RS series. Every time I read one of these books it feels like re-visiting family and friends. The charming small community, the friendly residents, the scenic backdrop – all of it just gives you a warm, old-fashion feeling like home.

All these characters are amazing – down-to-earth and charming with relatable problems and insecurities; things they need to overcome whether it be mental, physical, emotional, or all of the above. And the stories are always emotionally engaging and heartfelt. They really grab you and hang on…and BABY is no different. Actually, with Baby’s (Blake Bollinger) situation, a lot of people can probably relate to his struggles and that is one thing that makes this story even more appealing.

Blake (Baby) is a reoccurring character in the LT series since he is Finn’s (Eagle) younger brother, so we get to see snippets of him in the previous books as he interacts and helps the guys with certain situations. Most recently being in PHOENIX, where he participates in the Wild Wyoming Adventures race with Riley Harrison (Phoenix) and some other locals that is hosted by the Linear Tactical team. In BABY, we get an in-depth look at the man behind the laughter and fun-times and get to see his struggles, understand his feelings, and experience his growth as he pushes past his deepest fear and shares his long-buried secret with his family and friends in order to acquire his dream. Getting to know this character was a delight. There is so much more to him than what has been implied in the previous stories and it was truly heartwarming to see him finally get his happily ever after. Though there are some challenges and rocky turns the end result is beautiful.

Quinn Harrison-Pritchard is having some serious bad luck; her life is in shambles, her emotions in turmoil, and her mental stability in question. With everything in her life falling apart, she abruptly packs everything she has left to her name and moves to the one place she feels she can hideout, lick her wounds, and hopefully start again, as well as be near the only family she has left – her half-brother, Riley Harrison (Phoenix). She has been publically humiliated, accused of terrible things, and blacklisted in the academic circles she has thrived in for years. As an Ivy League professor at Harvard, she had style, class, prestige, and a nice life working in her favor before one school board committee sitting changed it all. She is now jobless, homeless, broke, and getting ready to celebrate her thirty-ninth birthday alone. Starting over fresh in Oak Creek seemed like a good plan though she struggles to find work of her stature and she has to take two lesser desirable jobs in order to survive. Though one, her waitress job at the Eagle’s Nest, is doomed to kill her (especially her feet), the other as a professor at the local community college turns out to be a great reward. She rediscovers her love for teaching along with other things she did not know about herself and she truly blossoms in her new surroundings.

Baby and Quinn are both exceptionally well-written characters and their story is amazing. Their struggles, their romance, all of it! This story is not as action-based as others but you will not feel deprived in any way. What it lacks for action it makes up with the emotions and love story. And what a love story – these two have some real issues to overcome but their journey is beautiful in the end (especially visiting them a few years ahead in the epilogue).

And though this book is not knee-deep in action as some of the previous, there is still a suspenseful twist and threat to Quinn that has Baby draw on his inner warrior and with the help of his brother and others on the LT team, they race to save her.

Engaging, charming, and fun with real issues, suspense, emotion, romance, and the love of family – you cannot ask for better than that for a great read. This book is gripping from start to finish and a wonderful addition to the Linear Tactical series.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest and voluntary review. Have I ever said how much I love Janie Crouch books?! This book came at a perfect time, I'm on vacation as hubby works on the road for 2 weeks. And thank you Covid I'm basically stuck at the RV. So what's a girl to do but read of course! I read Baby in 1 day.
This is another installment of the Linear Tactical Series, and as with all of them, you don't need to have read the others in order or at all. Ms. Crouch always gives you what you need to know. She also foreshadows the next book in the current one, for example in Phoenix we started to see whispers of Quinn and Baby together and apart. By that I mean, we learned that Quinn is Boy Riley's sister, and we also got the impression that Baby knew her somehow as he'd made mention to Boy Riley about missing Quinn's Birthday. Next book up will be Gavin's story, saw those whispers in this book.
Baby is Finn's younger brother, and as the nick name implies the baby of the family. Quinn is Riley "Boy Riley" Harrison's older half sister. They are as different as day and night, where Riley is full speed ahead and up for any adventure, Quinn is extremely cautious and weighs all consequences. Quinn finds her self with a bit of bad luck, lost her prestigious job at Harvard, her marriage crumbled, about a year before her job, and she's pretty much down on her luck. I do like Riley's description of his ex-brother-in-law, "Peter the Prick" Quinn finds herself in Oak Creek, but she's afraid to let her brother know she's there, partly because her life is so far off course. Baby is probably the first person in town that goes out of his way for her. He knows there's more than she's willing to say, but hey he has his own secrets too.
It wouldn't be a Janie Crouch book without some suspense going on. While I found this book a bit sweeter than some of the other Linear books, it had it's edge. There were bread crumbs, why did Quinn's car suddenly fail her? Her problems with her debit card, and the feeling that someone was watching her. She was being gas-lighted by an unknown source to the point that she was sure she was crazy and having a psychotic break that would explain all the bad luck that she was suddenly having. Baby didn't believe any of her self sabotage statements, and when push came to shove believed enough in her to figure out who was stalking her, and to save the day. While he may not be one of the Military trained Linear Tactical boys, he shows that he has what it takes to be part of that team. I hate making reviews like book reports, because one just needs to read the book :)

4.5 stars (rounded to 5)

I love the Linear Tactical series so much! Baby is book 9 and it is still going so strong. Now I do need to be honest, the younger man/older woman trope is really not my favorite, I know it's bad because I have no problem when it is an older man/younger woman but that is just the way I feel. But there are a few authors who do an amazing job with this trope and I can now add Janie Crouch to my very small list.

We get a bit of a glimpse of Quinn and Baby in the previous book, Phoenix. Quinn happens to be Boy Riley’s older sister. There was a conversation between Boy Riley and Baby that was quite intriguing. We have also seen Baby in quite a few of the previous books in this series, he is actually the younger brother of Finn (whose book was in Eagle), so it was awesome that we get a more in depth view of the real Baby. He is so much more complex than how he had been portraying himself. His accomplishments are so inspiring. I loved watching him realize his potential and how far he has come. Then to see his friends and family rally around him was so heartwarming. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely heart pounding suspense intertwined in their story and Baby is involved all the way.

My heart broke for all that Quinn had to endure the past few years. She came to Oak Creek to basically lick her wounds and try to figure out what she is going to do with the rest of her life. She has had a rash of such bad luck, to the point that she even started to doubt herself. Quinn is also so much more complex. Even though Quinn is 12 years Baby’s senior, she is really seen as younger, so much more innocent than Baby. Her whole adult life has been sheltered in the academic world so she really does not have the life experiences that Baby does.

I loved reading their relationship progress, they both had so many insecurities, but ultimately they were perfect for each other. The support they gave one another and the chemistry was so strong. I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I also cannot forget to give a shout out to Jess and Ethan. There two are only kids but the interaction between these two were hilarious and quite adult like. From what I understand, their story will be the last in this series and I can already tell it will be awesome! But for now, I am so looking forward to the next in this series, Redwood!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BABY" Another phenominal Linear Tactical story it's an excellent series written by the very talented writer Janie Crouch each story has just keeps getting better and better their all page turners you can't put down.
Blake Bollinger aka BABY is such a sweet, charming, intelligent, loyal, protective, caring gorgeous alpha male with the heart of gold brother to Finn who runs Linear Tactical.
Quinn Harrison-Pritchard is smart, funny, uptight, innocent always second guessing herself after an incident in Boston at Harvard causes her to lose her job be blacklisted and her ex-Peter was behind what happened to her he through her under the bus and stole money she'd been saving buying his girlfriend a ring with it.
Quinn decides to start over in Oak Creek Wyoming where her half brother Boy Riley aka "Phoenix" lives with his girlfriend Girl Riley but doesn't want him to know what happened to her in Boston.
Baby and Quinn become involved their chemistry is scorching hot she was leary at first because she's 12yrs his senior but he make her feel alive wanted and treasured something she never had with her ex-Peter the entire marriage.
This is definitely a must have book so much happens theirs bad guys after Linear Tactical families and someone is targeting Quinn it so great how everyone comes togther no matter what to help in these situations.
I highly recommend to get this addicting book the characters are so well written I absolutely loved Baby especially when he shows up at Quinns with nephew Ethan, neice Jess and baby Thomas to apologize for being late for their date once again it was to funny how he used the baby to win her over one of those laugh out moments. AWESOME AWESOME READ SOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO "REDWOOD" GAVIN & LEXI'S STORY NEXT!!!!

This is the latest in a series of stand alone books. I have throughly enjoyed every one of these books. I Love This Series! Every one of these books is unique with their storylines.

His name may be Baby but he’s all man. Baby is loved by everyone. He is always happy go lucky and friendly with everyone. If there is anyone who has the perfect life it is Baby but people don’t know there is something that Baby is hiding. He has a huge secret that no one knows, not even his family or his best friends.

Quinn is a brilliant woman who has fallen into hard times. Her husband tells her one night he wants a divorce and that was only the first of many things that she couldn’t control that changed her life. She packed up all of her things and piled them into her car and drove across the country to the small town her brother has settled down in. When she gets there she just can’t bring herself to tell him about all the sudden changes and she rents a small place and gets a job as a lunchtime waitress. This is not something that she has much experience in and she finds out quickly that being a waitress is a very hard job!

Baby doesn’t like when people are rude and he stands up to a bully at the Eagles Nest. The new waitress was getting hassled by a nurse from the hospital. Baby steps in and shuts her down. This is the first time Baby sets his eyes on Quinn. Her warm brown eyes and tight bun on her head intrigue him. She is older than him but he doesn’t care.

Can these two help each other? They both have secrets. Will releasing the secrets set them free or lock them up? They will have to make some tough choices.

Book 9 in the Linear Tactical Series was just as heart stopping, tear jerking, laughter inducing and most of all passion filled like all the previous books in this series. First off I’m loving the fact that Quinn is older than Baby. I say this because I myself have recently turned 40 (although I don’t feel it or look it) I’m not married or have children yet and it was refreshing reading a story where the heroine was my age!!!!!! THANK YOU JANIE for that. Baby is Finn’s little brother and just as sexy as Finn, however Baby always seems to be so fun and lighthearted but holds a deep painful secret from everyone he loves. Quinn is Boy Riley’s big sister and find herself in Oak Creek when her life explodes and implodes all at the same time. Baby may only be 27 to Quinn’s 39 but he’s most definitely wise beyond his years. Quinn is so afraid of letting loose that she doesn’t see she’s almost a statue who belongs in a museum. Baby is so wild and carefree that he might just help our Quinn to let her hair down. To Quinn she thinks because of her age there is no way the sexy Baby Bollinger would ever give her a second glance. However Baby thinks that Quinn is entirely out of his league and too smart for him. Academics doesn’t always make you intelligent, and Quinn sees how truly brilliant Baby is even if he can’t. These two have so many secrets, but is it the secrets that will keep them apart? Like with all of the Linear Tactical stories there’s always action and this one doesn’t disappoint. I LOVED IT FROM BEGINNING TO END!!!!!

First let me say that this series is amazing. Ms. Crouch really amazes me with each book she has written. Each with great amazing characters. Good story lines. We laugh, and cry with them. But there’s so much more as well. Here we are at Book #9...I believe they can be read any way you wish.
I have read them in order. The author has been amazing in letting me read them to provide an honest review. All my thoughts are my own. I will be purchasing in paperback. I have a few.

Well Baby is Finn’s brother and is a wonderful guy. He will do anything for his family. He loves all the guys and is a great mechanic. But he has to do something to keep the garage.
When he meets Quinn at the Eagles Nest he thinks there’s something she’s hiding, and knows she’s never waitressed before. He does help her out a bit. The second time he sees her she’s by herself.
Things get intense.

Quinn is 39 and has come to Oak Creek where her brother Riley lives. She needs a fresh start. She also doesn’t want anyone to know who she is, but it will come out.
Baby is really nice to her, and he shares her cupcake with her. On her 39th birthday.
What she doesn’t expect is the chemistry between them given there age difference.
She needs some peace and solitude but it’s not in the cards for her.

Buy the book to see what happens. Oh so much more to come. Quinn and Baby both have secrets.
Will they come between them?
The one thing about Oak Creek they always take care of there own.
Baby won’t let anything bad happen to Quinn ever.

I have read this series through the author’s ARC program and I am a fan. The one thing that I enjoy about her style is how the stories from one book to the other are going on simultaneously. In this story, Quinn and Baby meet during the prior book Phoenix and the end of the story from that book are happening at the beginning of this book Baby. If you have read any of the series, Baby is introduced as the local mechanic and all-around great guy, whose brother and other family friends have started the security firm, Linear Tactical. In fact, since it is his book, we have Baby’s view of what was going on while Phoenix and the others from Linear Tactical were off on their mission.
So, this is the story of Quinn, a former Harvard professor that due to some unbelievably bad luck has ended up penniless and living in Wyoming. Since she is Phoenix’s sister, she decided to hide out/start anew in this small town of Oak Creek Wyoming. At the opening of the book she is interviewing for a waitressing job at a local bar. As the story continues, she also starts working at the local Teton State College. Although there is an attraction, Quinn is concerned about the difference in their lives and especially their age difference.
In general, it is a really good story with the romance between Quinn and Baby, along with the mystery part about Quinn’s past and what has followed her from Massachusetts. I enjoyed trying to figure out what was happening and how they were going to solve it. My main issue with the book is that Quinn is constantly comparing Wyoming to Harvard and complaining about it. If she is supposed to be so smart, you would think she would have figured out that there would be an adjustment, but I guess since we hear her thoughts, it got to be too much for me. I understand there should be some “fish out of water” aspects but I thought it went on a little too long. Ended up liking them as a couple and I appreciated that they seemed to recognize each other’s issues in ways no one else did.

Just read it already! Okay, so if it is close to your bedtime and you have something to do early tomorrow morning that requires some brain cells to be firing on all cylinders...maybe you should wait to start reading. But get the book! Once you start reading, you will have a hard time putting it down. It isn’t so much that the story is suspenseful, but more that you want to stay with the characters. The Linear Tactical crew are sweet, and funny, and sexy, and protective, and everything that you could want from a book boyfriend. Baby may not be one of the LT founders, but he is the brother of one and he has been there from the beginning learning the skills and participating in the rescues. Now he has his own woman to woo, and rescue. Baby and Quinn really see each other, beyond the surface that most others see. That insight can be scary, but knowing someone sees all of you and still loves you? That is heady stuff.

If you haven’t read the rest of the Linear Tactical books, you can jump in here if you want. There will be some spoilers, and you may not get all of the references, but it will make you want to read the rest of the books. Or you can go back and start with Cyclone. Hell, I have read them all, more than once, and after reading Baby for the second time, I went back to Cyclone to start all over again.

I was blessed with a free copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.
