Five brides-to-be, five delicious romantic comedies as a designer wedding gown plays matchmaker Now you can follow all five brides for one low price in The Almost Wives Club 5-in-1 Box Set. Love comes in unexpected ways at inconvenient times in these five full-length romantic comedies where one designer bridal gown leads each bride to her perfect groom—even if he's not the one she'd had in mind. Follow five runaway brides in this romantic comedy series as they find love in the most unexpected places.
Book 1 — The Almost Wives Club: Kate Is the bridal gown a matchmaker? Kate Winton-Jones is marrying one of America’s most eligible bachelors. Edward Carnarvon III is rich, handsome and hers. But at the final fitting of her wedding gown, one of the seamstresses pricks her and a tiny blood spot appears on the outrageously expensive gown. Its famous designer fires the clumsy seamstress on the spot, whereupon the girl puts a curse on the dress and storms out. Kate doesn't believe in curses. She’s modern, American and in love with the perfect guy. What could go wrong?
Book 2 — Secondhand Bride As the poor relation in the rich and powerful Carnarvon family, Ashley Carnarvon is used to hand-me-downs. But getting handed down a wedding dress that’s cursed? Okay, the curse is bad enough, but even worse, the dress doesn’t suit her. The fabulous gown was designed for a taller, slimmer bride who ran away before the wedding and never wore the dress – which gets back to the curse…
Book 3 — Bridesmaid for Hire Tasmine Ford is such a perfect bridesmaid, she’s made a side business out of it. But, when a gorgeous designer wedding gown is handed to her, after the bride who is supposed to wear it climbs out the window on her wedding day, she starts to wonder, will she always be a bridesmaid and never a bride? It’s not that she doesn’t know exactly who she wants to marry. But Eric Van Hoffendam wants to cry on her shoulder, not ask for her hand in marriage.
Book 4 — The Wedding Flight She’s passing a vintage store on Melrose Avenue when Meg O’Reilly catches sight of the prettiest wedding dress she’s ever seen. On impulse she tries it on and the guy who runs the vintage store tells her she looks beautiful. The gown fits like it was made for her and when she twirls in front of the mirror, she feels like a fairy princess. Not even her Doc Martens ruin the effect.
Book 5 — If the Dress Fits Evangeline is a former supermodel more famous for the men she’s dated and the scandals she’s been involved in than for her acting talent. Now, the famous Brit has turned her hand to designing wedding gowns and lingerie for the rich and famous. It’s an open secret that she only designs her outrageously priced gowns for attractive women. The Diva Designer also has a famous temper. She’s been wildly successful until an unfortunate incident ended with a seamstress cursing both her and her latest wedding gown. Now rumours are circulating, and the press are picking up the juicy story of the cursed wedding gown. Four brides have attempted to get married in the cursed dress and none of them has made it down the aisle. To squelch the rumours, Evangeline announces publicly that she is wearing the gown herself—for her own wedding.

This is a fabulous series of books! One cursed dress, five brides and mega-mixed up wedding plans for each of them. I got the boxed set with my Kindle Unlimited subscription, and I have to say that I would definitely be willing to pay full price for this well-written series. what I like about most of the stories is that the wealthy billionaire is usually left at the alter while the bride hightails with a less wealthy but more deserving groom. I loathe the "billionaire who falls in love with the poor girl" trope. I enjoy character driven stories. Humour helps, as do realistic plots and outcomes. I was pleasantly surprised and will check out Nancy Warren's other novels. Highly recommended if you are looking for a light but engrossing read. Excellent beach side reading!
“Evangeline had always said that every woman should have a perfect wedding dress.”
This box set of five books by Nancy Warren is, for me, something completely new and different from books of hers I have read in the past. Five brides to be, one designer wedding dress cursed by Kate who takes a good look at her life and decides to change it for the better. The second story about Ashley, who is “stuck” in a second hand dress, as well as a not-so great fiancé. “Bridesmaid for Hire”, the story of Tasmine Ford, the local “rent-a-bridesmaid”, but isn’t it time she was more than a bridesmaid?
The fourth story,”The Wedding Flight” is, in my opinion, the best. Meg finds the dress in a vintage shop, and the son of the owner finds her. And, finally, the dress returns to its designer, but does she deserve it? Good question!
These novellas are wonderful. I actually ended up reading many of them more than once and I had read the first one before. I happily recommended them to anyone who likes contemporary romantic comedy. 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this box set from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
When I first started reading this I didn't intend to read the entire book in one sitting, but that's exactly what I did. The way each story blended into the next made it so much fun to read. In each story I fell in love with the amazing characters and the way their story unfolded. I really hope these stories will be enjoyed by many for a very long time.
The wedding dress had a curse on it the first four stories were easy reading romances however the fifth was more difficult as the heroine was difficult to have any sympathy for. Eventually she won one over but it took quite a bit of doing. I understand why it was necessary but it’s difficult to like the heroine when she comes across as so up herself. Maybe a little more information on her younger self would have been more useful. Would I recommend this book - yes if you like light romances.
if our this book to be very interesting. Once I figured out each story was connected in one way or another, I settled back and read the book in record tome. I liked the book as ach book in the series was independent but connected together. The characters were beautifully developed. but book 5 ties the entire series together and is the best of the book.Lovely stories of love and weddings!
This storylines was great. Different from the usual romance plots. While I loved each story, I think Eric and Tasmine’s was my fave. Having said that, they’re all interesting and romantic stories - all revolving around that one wedding dress. It’s great how it ends with all the couples becoming friends. If you’re looking for a light, but an enjoyable romantic read - this series is definitely it.
This was a nice series to dive into. It was well paced, lots of laugh out loud moments throughout the series, and an interesting build up to the the final destination and fate of "The Dress!" I enjoyed book 1 and 3 the most but had trouble believing the relationship of book 3.
Overall though, it was a pleasantly light read and would absolutely recommend it!
A delightful story of designers, wedding dresses and things that don't go to plan! I loved this series, full of brides and breakups highs and lows. Highly recommend.
Each book in the set was an enchanting stand alone story, yet still brought together for the culminating final. I look forward in great anticipation to many more from this author.
THE ALMOST WIVES CLUB BOX SET is a set of 5 stories. The books are about a dress and the characters that come in contact with the dress. The first almost bride has a dress designed by a very famous dress designer. The dress is picked out by the adults running thing. Kate is just going along with all their plans, she doesn't even really love the groom. She has thoughts of what on earth she is doing but still goes along with things....that is until she hears the father of the groom scheming to get his way in an issue. She then tells them all where to go. The dress then turns up again in SECOND HAND BRIDE. The dress is forced on her by an overbearing aunt and uncle and she has no option but to wear the dress with a groom that she really does not love. Everything changes when she meets Ben. BRIDE FOR HIRE is a young woman that is in the wedding business. She will fill in for a part of the wedding party when needed. Her job is to keep an eye on the bride and keep her in line. A big society wedding is taking place, the bride is dressed and ready to go. She realizes she is in love with someone else and marrying her crazy friend is not going to cut it. She takes off the dress, tosses it to her hired bridesmaid and escapes through a window. Now, the dress is there and who is going to use it???? Next the dress is in THE WEDDING FLIGHT. Seeing the dress in the window of a small shop, the heroine has to try it on. No groom but she falls in love with the dress. She enters the shop and meets Dylan, working in his mother's shop to help out. He falls for her right away. It seems this dress is cursed and makes one wonder if it will ever make it down the aisle. Finally in IF THE DRESS FITS the dress winds up in the possession of the designer. A lady that is not well liked and has a few issues. There are lessons in this story and of course a HEA for the dress. This series is great. I loved all 5 books and they get a 5 review from me. It is a fun, entertaining series and to get all 5 books at one time is a great way to read them. No waiting for the next book to come out. I definitely recommend this series. Not a bad book in the bunch.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/4/19
Nancy Warren’s The Almost Wives Club Series is so great it is difficult to choose a favorite story. I read them as they were first published eagerly waiting for the next book to be released. Though to be honest the time between was not long still to be able to read all 5 at one time, one right after the other is a treat indeed. Together this makes an awesome series that is just the right length with humor in the middle of life complications, lessons learned and love that is true and lasting.
The five books in order are as follows - The Almost Wives Club: Kate is book one. It is more of the bride who wasn’t. This is where the famous dress is cursed. Kate stole my heart so that I wanted to read all the others. There is humor in this book as Kate takes a serious look at her life and the direction it is going. You go, girl!
Secondhand Bride: Ashley the one made to feel like the poor relative so she should take whatever she is given. The dress is no more for her than the sorry excuse of a fiancé, Eric. She deserves to be loved with a whole heart.
Bridesmaid for Hire: Tasmine is the one woman who came up with a job that I would have never thought of starting. She is great at it just like she is at the whole organizing the wedding. It is sort f like a wedding director with the added benefit of the bride having someone in the wedding party that will make sure all goes well. Of course, she deserves more than always being the bridesmaid.
The Wedding Flight: Meg finds the dress in a vintage shop. What stood out in this story is that the Meg’s falls in love with the dress but the owner’s son falls for her. Cute story.
If the Dress Fits: Evangeline is the last book when the dress coming full circle. Evangeline is not at all like I thought from the first book. Well, she sort of is but learns to be better. Maybe she wouldn’t have if the curse had not been put on that dress. It is the perfect conclusion to the series. It could easily be my second favorite but that is because of Wade Davenport, the perfect calm to her storm.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Almost Wives Club is a romantic comedy series about taking chances and finding love in unexpected places. The five stories included in the collection are: The Almost Wives Club: Kate, Secondhand Bride, Bridesmaid for Hire, The Wedding Flight, If the Dress Fits.
*** Reviewing “BRIDESMAID FOR HIRE” *** Aside from her regular full-time job, Tasmine Ford rents her services on the weekends as a bridesmaid, where she will take care of any last-minute requirements for the bride-to-be. With her strong organizational skills, she is an asset in this capacity and her business is doing well. However, things did not go so well for the groom in her last job. When the bride-to-be finds out that she was chosen only to avoid serving jail time, she walks out, abandoning her groom, Eric Van Hoffendam, at the altar! Tasmine, of course, is left to clean up the “mess”.
Eric is about to be sentenced to jail time since he didn’t fulfill the Judge’s requirements for dropping the charges. It had actually been his parents who said he would marry a good girl from a good family and get a real job. So Tasmine suggests to Judge Bailey that rather than let his parents decide what he should do, Eric should take responsibility himself and complete a period of community service to make amends. The Judge liked the idea and said Tasmine would be his “parole officer” and make sure he did a satisfactory job. Surprisingly, despite the odd situation, Tasmine and Eric seem to genuinely like each other and they begin a relationship which may lead to something better. Will he take responsibility and clear his name? Do the two of them have a chance for a future together?
This is a fun series with clever story lines. The characters are presented well and draw the reader into the plot, which is always heading in an interesting direction! Aside from the overall theme of this collection, you will still find a variety of situations to keep you amused! Grab your copy and enjoy!
This was such an entertaining set to read. Each story was a stand alone, but the whole set was delightful and enchanting. I never imagined the day when I would feel sorry for a wedding dress! The reader gets to spend time with 5 various brides and grooms that each have quite the story to share. From the ultra wealthy to a normal working girl these ladies have only one thing in common - this beautiful dress. Great characters, story development and a sweet HEA in each tale that is told. 5 unique brides find their soulmate, but not in what we would consider the norm. I received an ARC copy of this set. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review. I would recommend this set. VICKI FROM WYOMING
The Almost Wives Club Box Set includes The Almost Wives Club: Kate, Secondhand Bride, Bridesmaid for Hire, The Wedding Flight, and If the Dress Fits.
I loved this collection of five romances that all involve a cursed wedding dress. Each of the stories has wonderful characters that learn life lessons and may find their way down the altar. Each storyline is different and any can be read as a standalone, but it makes it far more enjoyable to follow the wedding dress through each story and see if the curse can ever be broken.
These delightful stories have drama, humour, and romance to keep you enthralled; great for a weekend reading blitz. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book with no obligation.
The Almost Wives Club box set is a true delight. When an extremely exclusive and expensive wedding dress is cursed by a fired seamstress it starts an interesting chain of events. Each book in this set features a different bride who is all set to wear this dress on her wedding day. However, the weddings and relationships do not go as planned ... it looks as if the dressed really is cursed. These delightful romances are all gentle rom-com's with great characters and some real laugh out loud moments. I thoroughly enjoyed all these books and highly recommend this box set. Once you have read the first book you will definitely want to read them all.
The Almost Wives Club is a set of absolutely great reads! Difficult to put down! Each story is complete in itself and can stand on its own. The overarching link between the five books is the appearance and journey of a one-of-a-kind, gorgeous but also cursed wedding dress. Nancy Warren does a great job of providing interesting and unexpected twists in each character's journey as well as in each story line. Simply put ... this is great writing! This is a clever concept written with a great combination of wisdom and wit, humor and romance! Compulsively binge-able!
A “magical” wedding dress helps each woman find that special someone with each story in the series building upon the previous ones. Also, it’s interesting to see events unfold with a different perspective from each woman as the characters find true love and experience redemption for past decisions.
It was my pleasure to receive this free series from the author and give my honest review.
A sensational series of five interconnected stories that should be read in order. Romance, intrigue, redemption, so much humour and the most satisfying conclusions! Each story is fantastically unique, too--you aren't reading a variation of the same story over and over. Nancy Warren has produced the ultimate in romantic comedy.
The story of a wedding dress and the 5 girls that were to wear it. It is romance with a touch of magic. It will make your heart beat faster and has the yearning of every bride, bride to be and almost bride! Is the dress a curse or a blessing? You decide! A good story line that really holds the attention
