A steamy mermen novella with sword fights, ship battles, and sexy ménage with a prince merman and his most trusted bodyguard.
Joanna fears her life is over when her father, the Governor of Havana, forces her onto a ship for Spain. She will be wed against her will. In the midst of a pirate attack, Jo's salvation comes from under the seas. She wakes from her rescue to find two delicious men who need her.
Namhu is the serious, life-saving protector, with a body that could walk through a wall. Enki is a beautiful prince of the sea with green hair, a twinkle in his eye, and a tender charm. Both are ecstatic to share in Joanna in this ménage story under the sea.
There are M/M scenes included in this spicy tale of mermen, pirates, and a woman who refuses to belong to any one man.
Ellen Mint adores the adorkable heroes who charm with their shy smiles and heroines that pack a punch. She recently won the Top Ten Handmaid's Challenge on Wattpad where hers was chosen by Margaret Atwood. Her books, Undercover Siren and Fever are available at Amazon as well as a short story in the Lucky Between The Sheets anthology. Married, she lives in Nebraska with her dog named after Granny Weatherwax. Her hobbies include gaming, painting, and halloween prop making. The basement is full of skeletons because they ran out of room in the closets.
This was definitely different from any other book I've read before. A menage romance between a woman and two mermen was interesting and did have some steamy scenes. I liked that Jo was a fighter and did everything she could to escape the evil men who captured her and also to help her guys. This is a novella and I wish it were longer so the story could have developed more and taken it's time with the romance. The ending seemed rushed and kind of abrupt, would love more someday!
I have been wanting to read this book for months. Every time I think I have time to read it, I dont. I am glad I got this book from Story Origin Reviews. I finally read it and fell in love with Namhu and Enki. Mermen saving a human and such a good menage story. This book had a damsel in distress and a happily ever after. Can't go wrong there.

This story has elements of different genres. The story is set in 1647 where a young woman is forced to travel to Spain to get married. She is brought there by pirates but tries to escape her fate. During a fight, she is rescued by mermen. Steamy scenes where she gives up her virginity. Pirates know where to find them and again a battle ensues where Jo chooses her men. Great story. In the end I leave the book with a big smile on my face.

I blame Madeline Kirby's "Not A Mermaid" for my grabbing this. It's actually good, though. Excellent, if it's parody or satire, because that We'll be pirates ending is so corny I can visualize the trio posing at the helm as the end credits roll. I think it's meant to be read as an actual romance, though, so I can't bring myself to rate more than 3 stars.
This was an adventurous read with great connection between the three characters. The storyline is filled with action and a great amount of steam between them.

Set in the 1600s Joanna was ‘sold off’ to her future husband by her father for power and he captors was a group of legal pirates taking her to Spain. She would never make it, the ship she’s forced onto his under attack and she tries to flee for her life but her trying to survive will be in the cold waters full of dead men, wood, cannons and fire. Will her love be save by her rescuers a shark skinned merman and his green haired lover and prince who will pretty much have her between them or who’ll she never again see freedom?
It’s a short story that feels like there might be more on down the road. I got lost in the words where I had to reread areas that I got confused reading and got stuck. This is more erotica then story, the story happens in the beginning and bits and pieces in the middle and at the end but the rest is just sex, M/F, M/M/F. I have no problems with erotica but I also would love a story around the sex.
Reefcake is the first book I have read from this author and what a great read it was I cannot wait for the next. The storyline was really good and quickly had me hooked I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Abroad a ship set for Spain, Joanna was desperate to find away to escape the doom to was to be her future with no thanks to her power hungery father. When the pirate ship is under attack she just may have find her way out. Enik is looking for a way to save and help his people. With the help of his lover/guard, he thinks that the daughter to the governor of Havana was he answers. Things aren't as easy as he once thought. One the woman was sent to marry another and if she speaks true, her father could care less of the harm that is happening around the seas outside his own welfare.
Can one lone human change a merman's thinking much less two of the opinions of the land walkers? Can she trust her life in their hands? This was fast and loose pace read overall a great read with exciting twists of a start to new adventure.
I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. I really wanted to like it, but it fell short on too many levels for me to say that I liked it. I wish I hadn't bothered reading it. I felt the story was definitely a novella maybe meant to be a prequel (I think, by the way this ended). The title was very cheesy, but the story -not so much. There were a lot of loopholes in the plot that weren't worked out to actually fill the story. The world building is super light, not really enough to help me get into the story, I kinda got the impression that this was maybe set in the 1800's, with pirates, and the different countries navel battles etc. The three main character were ok, very flat. I didn't really connect with them in order to like them as they weren't really fleshed out enough to get who they are. The insta-attraction (with no mate bond thing to back it) was awkward to me. It all felt like lust, not attraction. I definitely won't continue on with the series after this.
This book is super short, and I wish it was a little longer. But it is a sweet, quick and dirty story that I certainly enjoyed.
I wish there was more character development and more of a story but enjoyed it none the less. The three main characters are lovable. You have the brave female and then the two deliciously different male roles.
I would recommend this to anyone who is look for a quick read and enjoys fantasy.
“Reefcake” is my first book by Ellen Mint and I wasn’t disappointed. If you’re looking for a quickie with mermen, pirates, and a lady who knows what she wants, then this will work. For a novella the story worked, although I would have loved to have had more. Joanna, Namhu, and Enki were great and worked well together as a team and as lovers.
I won this book from a LibraryThing giveaway and the author in exchange for an honest review.
Mint definitely puts together a story that is unlike any that I've read before. Mint brings Joanna's life and adventure to life. The plot is filled with action, and survival, and definitely entrancing connect between the three. It's an unique take on ménage, and it's definitely adventurous. I like Mint's writing style and her previous work. This is a good story, and I'll definitely read more of her work.
A short double merman / lass menage story. Two mermen rescue Jo from drowning. Then they save her in so many other ways. A delightful novella about love found in the most unexpected place. The way the story ends seems to imply that a sequel may describe the further adventures of Jo and her mermen.
I'll admit, I grabbed this one because of the cheesy title and the 99c price tag. The first couple chapters were actually kind of promising, but the rest of the novella didn't have enough substance for my taste. If you like a LOT of steam, you'll probably enjoy it. If you skim or skip that stuff, then this isn't the book for you.
She is being sent to marry a man in Spain who she does not want to be with. She is kidnapped by pirates where she is then saved by two mermen. They both want her and she may want both of them. How is her life going to change? Will she have both of them? See what will happen between rhwm
