USA Today Bestselling Author, Jordan Marie, writing as J. Marie, brings you a brand-new paranormal series full of Alpha males, strong heroines and where everything is not what its seems on the surface.

ELEVEN

I’ve spent my entire life being trapped and studied like the lab rat I was created to be.
Tortured, prodded, abused, I dreamed of freedom, but didn't believe I would truly find it.
I never thought my chance of getting away would come in the form of a sweet, little girl with secrets of her own.

ETTIE

I could hear his screams late at night when I was supposed to be sleeping. Each one of them marked me, scarring me on the inside, where no one could see… but me.
I hid my secrets, knowing what I was doing could get me in trouble. I only knew that I had to help him.
I loved him, even if I was too young to have him. I knew in my heart that someday he would be mine and I would be his.
I helped set him free, my beautiful soldier with the smoldering brown eyes and crooked smile.
But, when I needed him, he was nowhere to be found.
Now, he’s back, but dreams to a child are simplistic.
Things are different when you’re a woman and the man you’re in love with, have always been in love with, holds the power to completely destroy you.

Welcome to the world of the Eternals. Supernatural beings finding their way in a world they don’t belong to, yet have no choice but to live in. The only thing that might make it tolerable is one truth.
Somewhere out there, every single one of them has a true mate. Now, they won’t stop until they find them. Who knows? Maybe it could be you.

This one wasn't really my thing, it was basically an ok read but I had a ton of issues with a lot of what happened spoiling my enjoyment and I don't think I will be reading book two so this is really the end of the line for me.
So as I said essentially this was OK and the idea behind the story I actually thought was imaginative it was the execution of this and the characters themselves I struggled with.
So firstly the characters themselves seemed really immature not the whole brooding alpha male badass heroine vibe I was reaching for more like a couple of teenagers.
The Hero himself Eleven/Leo basically left poor Ettie to her fate after she helped them all escape from the labs.
This is a girl who had been speaking in his head for years keeping him sane and instead of going back for her after recovering from his own injuries he abandons her mainly because he doesn't want to be recaptured.
Somebody else has to point out to him that the radio silence in his head might be the fact she's actually dead and this was five years later, he then decides to go look for her like FIVE YEARS LATER!!! talk about too little too late dude and newsflash you don't get a free pass for feeling guilty about it either.
I also didn't understand why Ettie was so resistant to the mate bond, I mean ignore the way he had abandoned her she was over that quite swiftly even if I wasn't, it was her reasons for resisting that connection that didn't really make a whole lot of sense to me.
She was up in arms mainly because she didn't want a bond that forced him to care against his will but she already knew he cared so it seemed a tad stupid and pointless: add in Leos reasons for not drinking from Ettie when he was most definitely going to die if he didn't and was it really that important like kicking the bucket for important, I think not.
Also, Endy and Jacob whats with that: their overall prejudice against the blood-drinkers of the group was totally unexpected and considering the group's collective origins I just can't see them being that bigoted.
Despite their differences, they're still connected and have been all there lives it just doesn't make any real sense that they would feel this way towards each other and whats with Ettie crying a river for her mother I just can't see it myself the woman nearly killed her.
Then there's the ending it was just so anti-climatic all that build up and then over in a quick predictable flash.
Despite the above, there were things here that redeemed this slightly for me it wasn't all on the down.
This in itself was quite an easy uncomplicated read with a dash of insta-love if that's your thing.
I also loved how protective and Possessive Leo could get over Ettie ( after His Ungratefulness actually retrieved her an all in case your wondering).
I also really liked Seven or Stark as he named himself, in fact, I would say he was my favourite character here.
So yeh Mixed bag from me folks: if you like a less angsty more romantic type read then this may be a fit for you, unfortunately, this wasn't my bag.

This book brought me back to the beginning of paranormal romance vampire books! This is what I want to see more of in vampire romance books period. I want an interesting overall storyline and a relationship rearing its head in the midst of problems. This is what, I consider, ground zero for what vampire books have become today.

Eleven was an interesting character in a harsh situation from the beginning. He was a mysterious character because no one besides the big bad actually knew much about him. It wasn't his own making and that just made it all the more intriguing. I'm hoping more tidbits from everyone's background will be sprinkled in future books of this series.

Ettie was an okay character. Considering my dislike of kids in novels, I actually thought she was more entertaining as one. As an adult, she made very poor decisions. Even when presented with option A or running and dying she has the gall to think she can run and not die. Did she not live through the nightmare child-her initially described or did I just hallucinate her backstory? Also, does she have a death wish?

The other guys make me think this series is going to be long and prosperous. This overall idea is reminiscent of the J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series but much more toned down, which I really enjoy!

Perfect!

Jordan Marie has taken her writing on a detour and found a whole new, fantastic world for her readers! Lost souls, tortured beings in a lab and a little girl just as lost who somehow connects with one of these beings. Sweet little Ettie connects to " lab rat" Eleven, victim of numerous " testings" who knows his days are numbered. The precocious telepath lights a spark I him, that turns a flame in Eleven's mind as he can never forget their bond.....as the years pass and they finally reunite that flame becomes a burning passion that can burn them both. I loved the characters in this novel, the story and hope that eventually she continues with the paranormal.

Oh my! This story starts out a little different, a bit intriguing and I couldn't dig in quick enough. I love the dynamic of all the characters we meet but especially Ettie and Leo. This deep connection they've had for so long had me feeling connected to them as well. When I'm reading a story that pulls me in so deep that my heart starts pounding and I'm feeling anxious for the characters, I know I'm reading a great book. I have a feeling this is a start to what will be a great series. This is a must.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

3.0 RATING - I went into this thinking it was going to be similar to a Laurann Dohner New Species Book - specifically Fury. I can understand the comparisons but this is like the B movie version if anything and fell really flat for me. I might pick up the second book if I didn't have anything else to read but it would be far from the top of my TBR list. Just meh.

The writing style wasn’t really my taste. It read like it was written by a young author. Still, I tried to like the story despite that because I thought the idea behind it was pretty good.
It just didn’t follow through.
*Warning there might be some spoilers*
Pros:
-unique idea
-seven. He was honestly my favorite character. He was a good friend and honestly added life to the other pretty dull characters. Four was also a cool character, and I enjoyed the parts where he would “talk” to a mysterious woman.

Cons:
-What I took from the description as supposed to be genetically modified humans with some super powers morphed into a story about vampires,(but not really vampires... I guess) so yuck. False advertising.
-the story is fairly predictable, and juvenile. Like they are running from bad guys, and haven’t been caught in five years but suddenly the main h somehow brings them into danger. Which isn’t really explained once the tracker is taken out, or maybe I just didn’t get far enough for it to be explained. Idk.
-Part of the biggest thing I didn’t like about this book was the random time jumps and scene ends. It could get a little confusing especially because the author kept switching between Ettie and Eleven’s point of views. It honestly felt like the author had written out all the main scenes of the book, and later had tried to force them together like ill fitting pieces of a puzzle.
-Ettie was annoying and stupid most of the time. Take for instance the scene where Ettie freaked out about Eleven removing the tracker in her neck. Her tantrum was honestly ridiculous. For someone running for her life and wanting to be free of her evil mothers clutches, she sure made a big fuss about a tiny little incision.
-Another thing, I honestly didn’t really feel the attraction from the two. Most of the time It was just Eleven being over the top possessive, and Ettie being a ditz. Plus, What was the point of Eleven resisting drinking Ettie’s blood? She kept saying she always loved him since a child... then why didn’t she immediately offer it up? The whole time Ettie was “resisting” Eleven felt so forced for no reason. Like the author was just buying time to the sex scene so people wouldn’t stop reading before it. (FYI, it didn’t work). On top of that, Ettie’s “reasoning” behind resisting him has got to be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read too. She was afraid he didn’t really love her, that it was just chemical reactions in his brain making him think he loved her because she was his mate. WTF. That’s all love is you rock head! A CHEMICAL REACTION.
-Lastly, this is kind of petty but it was something small I didn’t really care for. The names for all the character were honest to god stupid. Ettie- I’ve been reading it as Eddie (As in Ed, Edd, and Eddie.) Leo, because Leo the lion. Stark because Tony Stark. Oracle because he reminder her of the Matrix? Couldn’t the author have come up with something better than what a fourth grader could do?

I’m giving this story a 2 star rating because it kept me reading through about 80% of it, but unfortunately it just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Leo is the bomb!

I like this path . Nice first pnr for this author. Leo is OTT with his love and devotion for Ettie. They are great together. Lots of good secondary characters, I look forward to their stories. Lots of drama and suspense, great epilogues and HEA.

Out of this world❤️

Eleven is a lab rat and it’s the only existence he knows. One day he hears a voice and he can’t fathom why he’s hearing it or the purpose. Until he sees a little girl who belongs to the voice...who many years later becomes his EVERYTHING❣️

Ettie is just a little girl when she hears Eleven’s screams....they haunt her and she promises when she can, she will help him escape. She knows he’s important to her but she doesn’t understand it all. However, the future is much more dangerous and complicated than either thought and the consequences of their decisions far reaching😢

Wow, this book was phenomenal😍 I loved all the characters as they each add their own bit of pizzazz and the storytelling was pure Jordan Marie magic........out of this 🌍 Thank you to Jordan for my advanced copy for which I voluntarily leave my honest review and now gently prod as to who’s story might be next😁

FANFREAKINGTASTIC!!!!

I'm always worried when an author I totally adore decides to try something as different and difficult as PNR. Over the years I've gotten more and more choosy about what PNR I'll read. I have an few that I love and I am absolutely certain that J. Marie will be on that list from now on.

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and never let go! The world-building was meticulous and I quickly became immersed. The different characters personalities were believable and well-developed. There is anguish, love, brotherhood, intrigue, and hate, among many other feelings in this story and I can't wait to see what happens next in the series. As for this story, Ettie and Leo are fantastic. And the twists in just these two characters story, WOW!!! Can't wait to see what happens to Stark!!!

I liked it.

It has twilight meets I am number four vibe. I liked it because it went straight to the point. It didn't have unnecessary context and long chapters to decipher clues. It did however leave me with questions. Such as the four who rebel against Draven, five anger with four and siding with Draven. Six and eight relentless to stay away from the others.

I think this started off strong, but I lost interest about halfway way through. The h was repetitive in questioning the H regarding their relationship and that got annoying and old quite quickly. H didn't come across as a strong lead character either.

I got so far into the book that I didn't want to leave it as a DNF, but it was a struggle to complete. The ending was lackluster as well.

When I saw this author was writing a PNR book I was curious... these are hit and miss for me. I have to say her OTT possessive alpha males are perfect in this setting. I really enjoyed this story. The connection between Ettie and Leo was wonderful to read. They were connected on so many levels. I loved the "names" part of the story and can't wait for more...hoping Stark is next.

This was a great start to a new series! I just loved Leo and Ettie!! Leo and Ettie have been connected for years and then they aren't. Things are not what they seem and when they re-connect- sparks fly and danger follows. This was a new take (for me) on paranormal and I really liked it! Won't put any spoilers in my review but there are vampires.... a lab with sinister people ... a friendship..... action.... sexy times.... secrets.... Just read it, you won't be disappointed!!

This was the best paranormal book I've read so far! Omg, the suspense, the secrets that comes out of this book was out of this world. Everything that you've think you're going to get from this book, exploded out of it, this was an amazing book. Author Jordan Marie blew it out the park for writing a paranormal book for the first time! Well done!

I liked the story, there were some interesting takes on standard SPN tropes, but there were a few things that kept it at just 3 stars.

Eleven (H) is a human lab rat, tortured and studied by a secretive organization. His brief glimpse of light is Ettie (h), a child whose voice he hears in his head. Their secret conversations keep him sane, and even lead to his eventual escape. But then Ettie needs his help, and he lets her down. It takes five years before he can find her again, and he finds her all grown up...

I liked some of the takes on the supernatural here - the whole genetically-modified supernatural testing opens a lot of doors for potential stories. As the first book in the series, we just scratch the surface, and quite honestly a lot of questions are left unanswered about how this world works, but there seems to be some good depth to the world to explore. And I liked how awkward and kinda innocent that the guys were about some things, having lived all their lives in the lab (side note: these are not the Alpha males and strong heroines of the book blurb - they each have their Alpha/strong moments, but overall, no).

There were certainly some downsides, though.

I know that Ettie is young - just barely 18 - and had a heckuva abusive background, but I never understood her reluctance to the blood bond. I get that you want proof in a case of such an overwhelming and little-understood bond. You want to believe that it's real emotion and not just a biological imperative. But her reluctance made her seem really young and rather foolish. I mean, seriously, she and Leo have been linked since she was 5! As she kept saying, she loved him before she know what love was. I just never understood how she couldn't believe that he felt as strongly about her, seeing how they've been linked, bonded, what-have-you, for so long. And his reservations just came from hers - he wouldn't feed because of her doubts, not because of any worries of his own, even though not feeding would kill him. And yet she still didn't trust him and his feelings. Basically, a big chunk of the conflict between the leads came from her rather confusing attitudes.

I was also confused about the forgiveness timeline.

But that kinda fits with the overall pacing of the book - just inconsistent. The beginning was a really strong one, actually, and we get nice and hooked in, but then it peters. We spent a lot of time on the run with them, lot of time dithering about the blood bond, but then the climax and a lot of the world building/foreshadowing that got dumped at the end all happened rather quickly. Like, why did 6 and 8 have such issues with the rest of the group, considering the similarities of their situation? And everything with 5? And how things wrapped up (or didn't) with her mom? I guess a lot of it will be covered it subsequent books - like when Jacob and Endy actually get their own stories - but everything with the final scene with Draven was kinda a letdown.

Alternating 1st person POV from the leads. No cheating, no love triangles, no OW/OM drama. Some interesting world potential to play in, though some of the side characters were rather underdeveloped and indistinguishable here. Kinda simplistic storyline and young characters, with an inconsistent pacing give this a NA feel (too much sex and torture for YA, IMHO). HEA, mostly. Short epilogues, and while not a cliffhanger, there are plenty of questions setting up future books.

Would I read more? Yes, especially if they are other free/cheap Kindle finds. Probably not one I'd specifically seek out, but I'd love to see Seven/Stark's story. He was fun.

Too depressing & one dimensional.

I can see why this has high ratings, but it's not for me. I only got about half-way through, so maybe it lightens up a little but I saw no sign of that and decided to stop. I was also getting a little annoyed with Ettie. It's so obvious that she lost connection with him due to the implant, her mother all but told her it would happen...yet it NEVER crossed her mind and she's been mad, thinking he abandoned her for all of these years? Again, it totally obvious what happened, I don't understand why she never even considered it...especially after they remove the implant and she can talk to him again. It's as if her anger with him was just put in there for the drama aspect, not because it made sense. She also never grew...she literally had the same naive personality at 18 as she did at 9. I get that she was very sheltered, but we all change, especially after the trauma she went through. Those things alone I could have got past, but the constant monotone, depressing storyline just dragged me down. There weren't funny moments, or anything light-hearted...just, well...drama, and then boring, moments. That was it. Just not for me.

This was a short and enjoyable paranormal romance with a science fiction edge. Whilst it’s not always my preference, I was in the mood for a relatively straightforward plot, and this book was perfect for sating that craving.

Under utilized plot?

I read A LOT of books. And almost nothing bothers me. Including bad grammar. But unfortunately I will not continue to read this author's books. I've read several from different series to see if there is any improvement. And I'm sorry but I saw none in any I read. The characters we're all immature. No real conversation and no listening. Also I thought the writing was stilted. Jumping from one scene to the next. One minute talking about meeting up later then suddenly at that meeting. No phone call no driving no asking to meet others first? Too much weeks later and months later. I kept losing interest with lack of action. I did like the plot line. The authors imagination to come up with it was awesome but did not do it justice in the story telling. There was so much that seemed like could have been done better. So I am glad that Ms. Marie has a good following. Good luck in the future.

This book was fine, but I didn’t really like any of the characters.

Ettie and Leo were fine, but I didn’t really care when they got together as it was very instant, and they don’t really talk to each other. They only really talked about how they were going to get rid of Ettie’s mother.

There were other characters, but they weren’t really developed, and I really didn’t like what happened at the end with their group. I hated how Six and Eight just left, especially because they acted like the others were disgusting and they were so much better than them.

The plot was a bit annoying in this book and the ending didn’t really explain everything.

This book wasn’t for me, and I won’t be continuing with this series.

Enjoyed

I enjoyed this first book in the Eternals series. I am disappointed that there has been no further books published in this series since this one published in 2019 (except a very short novella). I enjoyed this book. This one was well developed with characters that were entertaining, relatable and ones I would have like to read more about in other books. The twist at the end was unexpected and had a little twist of its own. HEA for the main two characters, no cheating, no cliffhangers but left enough interest in the other characters for the reader to want others books. For now it’s a standalone and quite interesting.

Ettie and Eleven-Leo meet at a facility where he is being held and to retired for years. The have a telepathic bond that let them communicate. She helped him escape and she stayed behind as she was the daughter of one of the researchers in the lab. Her mom was creel and abusive and blames her for the escapes. She is tortured and controlled closely until after five years she escapes. Eleven-Leo find her and soon he discovers that she is his mate and becomes super protective and over the top. The ending leaves a few loose ends, maybe there’s another book. Meh!

Yeah... I couldn't finish this one*SPOILERS*

It was lackluster. I felt the main characters were annoying when deciding to bond. Ettie doesnt want to bond because she want to know if it's real. Then Eleven is like "youre my woman" but minutes later "Im not going to bond with you because I want you to knoe it is real buuttttt I may die. Then the anticlimactic "evil-guy-is-the-father-of-Ettie" scene pretty much made me close the book. I couldn't read any further. It was an unsatisfying read.

The H and h have had a mental connection since she was five, when she listened to him being tortured by her mother. I thought, wow a great premise, but unfortunately the heroine as an 'adult' and I use the term very loosely, is a weak person, too scared off her own shadow and very willing to let the H suffer. She wouldn't give him her blood, she was so scared. Now that was reasonable given the whole torture thing,s but it was all TOLD via never ending conversations. Ugh...DNF.

The Eternals

I did enjoy reading this book. It’s a little different from Jordan Marie’s books. The Eternals are a unique breed of man. Although they are unique, they have those similar alpha men tendencies you’d find in her other books.

If you’re a Jordan Marie can, you will enjoy this book as well.
