My Best friend’s brother can’t keep his hands off of me… I can’t figure out how to tell him his new name is “Daddy”.
I used to just imagine his touch.
Now I’m back in town again feeling his breath send tingles down my spine.
He’s hot, chiseled, rich AF and completely off-limits.
He’s my deceased best friend’s older brother.
Our grief has brought us together.
His strong arms wrap around me and protect me for the first time.
In his embrace I feel comforted, safe, at home.
But also absolutely terrified…
There are rumors about her death.
Paxton’s name is being suspiciously whispered around town.
He’s keeping a secret, but so am I.
The rumors make me want to run for the hills.
The two pink lines on this stick make things a little more complicated…

I want to preface this review by saying that I have read five books of Lexi Aurora's books and have enjoyed them. I gave them either a four- or five-star rating. However, this book I did not enjoy. It is a disappointment. But that does not mean I will give up on this author. It just means that it is unrealistic for an author to expect every book to be successful. I will continue to be a fan of Lexi and look forward to her next book. About the book, this is a murder mystery romance. The relationship between Jenna and Paxton is fooked up. While grieving the death of Paxton's sister, Bethanny, Jenna always felt fear, guilt and shame after she spent precious intimate moments with Paxton. It became annoying to read about Jenna's struggle between what she really wanted and what she owed to Beth's memory and that was to stay away from Paxton. It was irritating that all Jenna could think of was being with Paxton. But throughout the time she spent with Paxton, she was totally self-conscience of her body even though Paxton tried to reassure her that she was beautiful. Then there was Paxton acting like a prepubescent teenager not able to stop thinking of carnally taking Jenna or stop touching her. Like I said this relationship is fooked up. When I got to the end of the book, I was hardly surprised by the ending.
Good mix of romance and polar I liked the investigation, but maybe the way the feelings are described, is to improve, because they look very strong, but the reactions of the characters to these feelings, seemed to me surprising, in particular, the reactions of Brighton to what she wants with Paxton (it should perhaps have been more precise ... I do not know, but it was missing a little thing for the described emotions are felt more strongly). Brighton returns for the burial of her best friend who was murdered. She has always been in love with Paxton, her friend's half-brother, but this one did not want him to have a relationship with Brighton. In the small town, rumors are rife, and quickly, Paxton is the first suspect. The police being ineffective, Paxton and Brighton decide to conduct the investigation. At the same time, their relationship is getting stronger, but it seems like a betrayal of her best friend's mind for Brighton and she keeps coming back with every step forward. Between the secrets of her friend, the rumors of the small town, lies, attacks, threats they suffer, the two heroes are struggling to find a place to live their romance. Ms Lexi Aurora, I, personally, want to say thank you for your amazing mind and sharing it with reader's everywhere.
On Second Thought, the latest release from Ms Aurora, is a superior romance book that has a high impact on the heart. From the moment you start reading, you are taken into a creative storyline with characters that you can 'feel'. Jenna and Paxton have loved one another for years in secret and decided to not pursue where they could of gone with it out of respect and love for Beth. Beth is Jenna's best friend as well as Paxton's half Sister (the only loving Family member to him). Now, years later, Paxton reaching out can only mean one thing... something is wrong. Unbeknownst to each other, their lives are about to change again, and now, they must fight for what is right & just. Too bad they have to do this while back in the one place that is guaranteed to tear them apart. This incredible book has a must deserved happily ever after, however, getting there will be anything but easy. Compelling Release.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of On Second Thought in exchange for my honest/voluntarily given opinion and I am positive that you will love this book just as much as I have.
Jenna and Paxton have known each other since they were kids. Jenna was best friends with his sister Beth. They are reunited when tragedy strikes.
Coming from a small town that doesn’t experience much crime leaves the towns people speculating on who the culprit could be. The town gossip mill, along with the local police are so closed minded that they assume it must be someone from out of town or someone who left long ago. Because Paxton had just recently returned to town, he is firmly in their sights.
When Jenna meets Paxton again, their chemistry is off the charts, but old fears keep them apart. Also, someone is trying keep them away from investigating what really happened and the police seem incapable or unwilling to acknowledge some of the facts they are presented with.
With all this going on, do Jenna and Paxton stand a chance a developing a relationship?
I enjoyed the suspense side of this book more than the romance. I felt they kept apart due to silly reasons. Jenna was not one of my favorite people in this story, she was annoying at best.
I love this authors work and enjoyed her exploration of a suspense laced romance.
Let's see, where do I begin? This is a well-written story, by Lexi Aurora. The story will keep your adrenaline pumping faster, and, your mind believing it is on the verge of, solving the case.
Throughout the book, you think you know who perpetrated, Beth’s death. Only, to doubt yourself. This book is ‘that book,’ a must-read book. ‘They’, meaning Beth’s hometown, right away buy into, her older brother as, the likely subject.
Then of course there is guilt by association, meaning her best friend, Jenna, flies in for the funeral. She becomes a suspect because she is interacting and helping, Paxton, Beth’s brother solve her murder.
The who done it will but yet it won’t once you know. If you're like me, you allowed yourself to be swayed too early, and all this time you were right. Very well played for sure.
Now, what does bother me... You have a sheriff who came off rude, and obnoxious, and then boom he disappears. Why?
She kept flip-flopping on the answer on Beth’s remarks to them being together & the ticket. Which is it?
Why did Paxton’s stepmother hate him so much? Was it that way when the dad was alive?
I loved this book for so many reasons. I was so intrigued from the beginning a murder mystery with love interest. I love that I could not figure out who did it until the end, but I also loved that the romance was with a “big” girl. It is refreshing to see that a plus size girl gets her hunk at the end. Most stories are with your big chested or wide hips, but still a small figure and although I know they are just stories, it is nice to see that he even states that she is a big girl, but that he loves every inch of her. This story is about a Jenna and Paxton and the mystery of Beth’s murder (who happens to be Paxton’s stepsister and Jenna’s best friend). Pay attention as to who did it and why as the reason is commonly known to happen in today’s world. I will not give out much on this story as everyone should read this, but note that there is a HEA to it. Just a warning this is a book you will not be able to put down until you solve the mystery. I voluntarily agreed to receive an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
On Second Thought will captivate reader's attention with a heartbreaking phone call of the death of a best friend. Lexi Aurora has written a fantastic, second chances romance about two friends who have secretly loved each other for years but were torn apart by life. Filled with drama, suspense, secrets, heartache, passion, and love. Readers will fall in love with Paxton and Jenna and the obstacles they have to go through in order to be together. This story with its twists and danger will have readers captivated from beginning to end. I loved this new book from Lexi Aurora. "I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book."

Jenna gets a call from Paxton Beth brother who tells her about Beth being murder all old feels that Jenna has for Paxton start to has up and when they see each other they can't hold back theirs only one problem they are both suspected of Beth death. This book has a lot of twist to it one might think that anyone could have done it. I received this book as a arc for a honest review and I can say that might be worth just seeing if Paxton and Jenna can solve the mystery in time so they can live happy ever after.
A suspenseful contemporary romance. A second chance romance Paxton had to make a difficult call to Jenna. A tragic event has happened. He asks Jenna to come back home as he needs her, something has happened to his sister Beth. Paxton is a suspect in the death of his beloved sister. So much mystery around her death. Jenna and Paxton get together to find out who has killed their beloved Beth. Their attraction to each other has not diminished, and blooms while trying to find out who killed her
On Second Thought by Lexi Aurora is a well written romance. I enjoyed the book as a whole, but really liked the elements of suspense, mystery and a second chance. The main characters are wonderful with plenty of heat generated by their unrequited chemistry and love. There’s also plenty of action in addition to steamy sexy times to keep the reader fully engaged and invested in this book. Overall, a good read!
Paxton and Jenna reconnect in tragic circumstances. They embark on a difficult journey together trying initially to resist their mutual chemistry. Some interesting twists and turns in this romantic suspense. Found it a bit tricky understanding how these two seemed to seek intimate moments in public places when they were aiming to keep the relationship secret. Also no mention of protection whenever they got together. Read an ARC for an honest review.
It is a good entertaining story that captured by attention from the beginning until the end. It has some drama, action, suspense, sexy scenes and a who done it undertone, that leads to a happy ending. The author did an amazing job with the characters which means I am happy to recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

Jenna and Paxton were brought back together after the death of Paxton's sister who was Beth's best friend. The police suspect Paxton of the murder so Jenna and Paxton unite to find the real killer. Their romance is rekindled and the murderer is found. I was a little disappointed in the ending, I still had questions about their relationship but I enjoyed the mystery. I am voluntarily reviewing this book after receiving a free ARC.
This book hits you in the heart. When Jenna answers the call from Paxton, her best friend's brother and secret love from childhood, she never expected such Tragic news. Beth was murdered please come home. Finding out who killed her best friend is job one. Job two is allowing herself to have what she has always wanted, namely Paxton himself. Terrific!
I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Great Second Chance Romance for two people who have had a long-standing acquaintance and are from completely different backgrounds. Adding to the romantic drama is the murder of someone they both cared for, the suspicion, intrigue and reemerging feelings of love all provide one uncertain and twisted tale of suspense. This book is a thoroughly entertaining and engaging read. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
I think in the average it's a good book, nothing excepcional! In my opinion it has a lot of loose ends without answers like, what Beth overhead that caused a threat from Liz? Why Liz tried to kill Jenna? It's a nonsense for me! Why Ashlin (the stepmother) has such a hatred for Paxton? It isn't explained in the book! Why the people have such a prejudice with him? Some points of the book could be better explained for our understanding!

Paxton and Jenna have known each other for years. Paxton’s sister, Beth, was Jenna’s best friend. Paxton calls Jenna years later to tell her of Beth’s death. Jenna rushes home to help with funeral and to figure out what happened. The story has many twists and turns while these two finally find themselves in each other’s arms.
Jenna comes back to her hometown for the funeral of an old friend. While there she sees Paxton again and things heat up quickly. When Paxton is the prime suspect for Jenna’s friend will she help him find out the truth? Fast-paced read with plenty of twists and turns along with steamy chemistry. I was hooked from beginning to end, an entertaining read.
Paxton and Jenna are trying to solve the murder of his sister and her best friend. They are also trying to deal with the feelings they have had for each other since they were teenagers without feeling guilty about the timing. The small town gossip mill poses problems for solving the and their love life. Eventually both is solved and they get their happy ending.
So right away it got my attention! The author has you in their grip with a murder and two people that love each other but something is holding them back. Solving Beth’s murder is first but getting there is the fun. The ending came too quit, it was like you’re flying then it done.
The death of a best friend and a sister brings Jenna and Paxton back together. Problem is BETH never wanted them together so how can they go against her wishes and there is also the small problem of everybody thinking Paxton killed his sister. Can they find love , and who killed BETH.
This was great read with lots of mystery, action, suspense, & passion. Paxton and Jenna’s connection is amazing and I loved the journey they took together finding Beth’s killer. captivating and hard to put down
Wow this a fabulous second chance romance, and it's not just that, it is a suspense story with danger and deception, excitement and intrigue, one I could not put down.
