Day of the Spiders

Rate this book
Five years after Newtown went up in flames, everything has returned to an uneasy calm, until a little girl by the name of Lottie Richmond is killed in her back garden.
Braden Benson has been on the frontline of journalism for most of his adult life. He has enjoyed some success, but that one big headline payoff has always eluded him. He decides to hang up his notepad in favour of spending more time with his neglected family, that is until a spate of grisly events in the nearby town of Layton makes him suspect that there is something fundamentally wrong.
The events unfolding in Layton attract the attention of D.C.I Gerald Thompson and his partner John Wells. Their investigation takes them to a house on Corsica Road and the terrible certainty that what happened in Newtown is far from over.
Day of the Spiders is the terrifying sequel to the international best seller Dawn of the Spiders.

The spiders are back and they've evolved! This sequel to Dawn of the Spiders is even more horrifying than the first, you'll never look at an ordinary house spider the same way again. The author has a way of creating characters and scenes that reminds me of Stephen King, and he's not afraid to hold back on the gory details as each character meets his grisly end. Fast-paced, with characters you come to like or hate, you keep turning the pages in the hurry to see how this man-made disaster turns out. And what an ending! I won't spoil it, but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Will there be another sequel, and will I be brave enough to read it??? If you like horror, I highly recommend books by this author!

A follow up to the fabulous Dawn of the Spiders. Just when you thought those damn spiders were gone, they pop up again out of the blue. This time they have had five years to regroup and get stronger, and so the body count rises and rises. Even scientist Briggs is back to help. A dark tale of humor and horror that will have you checking every corner for eensy weensy spiders. For fans of dark horror and humor.

Following on from Brian O’Gorman’s hugely popular Dawn of the Spiders, those eight-legged creatures are back! I found this story totally gripping from the start, and the author O’Gorman has written compelling and believable stories for each of the characters. I especially loved how their lives were connected and as the story unfolded we found out how they wove together, waiting with bated breath to discover their individual fates. The writing style is addictive and enjoyable but I don’t want to give away any spoilers in my review. I think it’s enough to say I had to put the book down a few times to recover. I’m not a fan of spiders! Despite being a longer novel, this is a page-turning story at its best. The author has left the potential for a follow-on story, and despite my unease with spiders, I’ll be compelled to read it!

This gave me the itches!

This is the second book in the series and I read them back to back. Brilliant story, the concept is frightening really. I assure you that if you have a fear of spiders, like I do, read this book at night on your own and you will start to believe you can hear the rustling of a low noise. You will also be itchy, and start scratching, I promise you. This book has been left wide open for another sequel.
Now,here’s the spoiler.
In the scene in the hospital with Katie and Wells I feel that this should not have been glossed over but given several pages of its own to describe the metamorphosis of the two characters into mutant spiders.
That’s the only negative other than the fact I wanted more pages in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially if you have a fear of spiders.

1960’s B-Movie type horror book

Entertaining if you like old B-movies, instead of movies like Saw.

With several characters you glad to see bite the dust, and some you feel sympathy for.
Alas, if there are more sequels, I don’t think I’ll read them, as they inevitably become lame.

Spiders 2 - Humans 0

After reading the first book, I couldn't pass on the second one. It was worth the read. The characters were well developed and it didn't follow the standard formula as to who lived and who died. I hope there will be a book three.

Great Read! Fast and creepy!

Sometimes too descriptive leading to action…but still a good continuation of this story. I can’t wait to confirm with Night Of…..
