Listening Length: 8 hours and 21 minutes.

Above a kingdom of kink rules an alpha who's fought for his family since the beginning.

Sterling Holt, owner of kink club The Shepherd, has given all he has to keep his family together. But after years of hard work raising his much-younger sister, his nest is empty - and so is his heart.

Beneath the weight of his own guilt aches an omega who can't see salvation.

Proud, cocky, and outspoken, on the surface it looks like Adrian Lowe has it all - but beneath his prickly facade lurks something darker. Something painful. Something he can only escape during weekends at The Shepherd.

He will never forgive himself for what he's lost.

But the lost can be found again.

When one night of scorchingly intense passion binds two lonely souls together, Adrian and Sterling will either have to sever ties and give in to their loneliness, or admit that what they've found in each other is worth staying for.

Stay is a BDSM-flavored audiobook set following the events of Obey and Beg. With this much snark, power play, and pain/pleasure, it can be listened to as a standalone, but it's best served as a sequel.

Piper Scott debuted as a trio of authors looking to write together for fun. Their collaboration led to three novella-length books (Love Me, Save Me, and Keep Me,) before life sent them in different directions, leaving just one author with an omegaverse plot bunny that wouldn’t leave her alone. Obey was born several months later… but the plot bunny never left—it multiplied.

Left to her own devices, Piper Scott writes scorching but heartfelt contemporary omegaverse romance about men you can’t help but fall in love with.

Also writes under the pen name Emma Alcott.

First, I would like to say a word about the narrator, Michael Paulley. The man deserves a giant, shiny gold star for being one of the main reasons I gave this book a five-star rating. Michael Pauley's performance was simply amazing and truly showed the pain that Adrian had throughout his life. He gave these characters life, and a believable voice. Well done, Mr. Pauly!! Now, about the story...Adrian is not what he seems to be. He was not very likeable much less lovable at first... but he has his own reasons and he had been hurt badly. He's had a crush on Sterling since book #1. Sterling is an older man and the owner of The Shepherd, a kink club. He lives in the penthouse above it. Adrian is an omega who is most of the time outspoken to the point of rudeness. He hasn't had the best upbringing and his parents are homophobes with capital letters. This story takes place 4 years after Adrian's brother Gabriel goes missing and that also contributes to Adrian's attitude. He blames himself and he may share a portion of the blame but not all of it. He does improve gradually throughout the book and things do get better. Sterling was absolutely perfect and adorable.... patient, caring all helping to break down Adrian's stonewalls. About Gabriel...We learn he was a young man that really never ha a chance. He was taken by a monster and signed into what he thought was a binding D/s agreement and then it all went wrong leaving him utterly, thoroughly broken.... seemingly almost irreparable. His healing process wasn't easy...at one point it seemed impossible...but I won't reveal any more...but will say the first two books should be read before this one. This has been one of my favorite Piper Scott series and this book was even better, if that is possible...than the first two. This story has a lot of angst and there is a lot of emotion here with plenty of heat. This one is definitely an emotional rollercoaster...but OH WHAT A RIDE!

Adrian and Sterling were for me in the beginning a very unstable and complicated couple. I understand that Adrian had issues but the way he treated Sterling (even though Sterling being the Dom) I didn't care for.

Sterling saw something in Adrian that he didn't see in himself and understood what he needed, and that is what a good Dom does for his submissive. The sex that they had fit into the dynamic of their relationship. Rough, hard, sweet, slow and mind blowing.

I so want Gabriel's story after this one - a very powerful potential.

I'm really loving these - there is some classic ABO here but it comes with characters who are pretty vivid to me. Yes stereotypes but they are also broken. The sex is hot and the way the two MC's here come together and what it takes had me wanting to stay on the plane to finish!

DNF, I just hate Adrian. I hated him before this book and a pushy arrogant sub turns me off. I made it to chapter 7. It’s me not the book.

Stay by Piper Scott is the third book in the M/M Omegaverse series. I enjoyed this book. I didn't really care though for Adrian or Sterling. I liked parts of both of them, but as a whole, I didn't really care for them. I liked Sterling as a parent to his baby sister that he raised and his home office that has all of her artwork up. I didn't really like how people thought that he had a harem and how they perceived him, especially when it wasn't true. I also didn't like him as a Dom and when he blackmailed Adrian into a total power swap so that he doesn't get his membership to The Shepard revoked and then knew that he wasn't going to enforce the power swap and even allowed Adrian who is also a Dom at The Shepard to dominate him. Although Adrian isn't a real Dom because he doesn't do what he does for the submissive, Adrian needs to inflict pain on another person to transfer his emotional pain to another person. He uses BDSM to release his pain kind of like a cutter cuts themselves to release the emotional pressure that builds up inside them. Sterling is there to teach him a better way to deal with his feelings, and I liked that part. But after Adrian is in a better mindset and dominates Sterling again the scene was too much like their first encounter together to show me that he has learned anything. Overall, not my favorite of the three books so far. I can't wait to see what the next book will bring. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I want everyone to read this book - it has SUCH a different take on the whole alpha/omega thing. Adrian is NO helpless omega. He is snarky, angry, complex, often dominant, but when his walls come down, he is fiercely loyal and loving. I ADORED him. And Sterling is PERFECT for him. His focus is on making sure that Adrian gets what he needs, even if that means switching up the traditional alpha/omega D/s roles a bit. Sterling loves Adrian's wit and snark and fierceness, and right from the start, he sees past the prickles to who Adrian really is. LOVE them together. And their first time is EPIC hate sex. So. Hot.

This is a BDSM book, and there's one scene that had me cringing a little, even though I don't have the body parts that were being abused. But THEY got off on it, so it's all good. As always, I gained new insights through Piper's writing, like this: "Being in control wasn’t only about seeing power taken away from a lover—it was about guiding a body otherwise helpless through orgasm."

For those who hated Adrian and the part he played in Beg, I think you'll come around when you see the guilt and torture he's been living through, and the reasons behind his actions. I just wanted to give the poor guy a BIG HUG.

SO EXCITED for the next book in this series!!!

Wow...

This was...profound, in a sense? It’s always interesting to see how a villainy character is redeemed. And it reminds us that in real life, people we think are bad/rude/evil/nasty/etcetc are really just very hurt/misunderstood/damaged people and need more understanding and patience than most.

What I like about Adrian and Sterling’s story here was, the issues were worked through. They weren’t glossed over and magically fixed by love. It took a lot of patience and insight on Sterling’s part to help Adrian heal. And here, we also saw the circumstances that made Adrian that way. Not dismissing his nastiness because there’s a reason, but because there’s always a choice. And he chose to lash out to protect himself which was understandable.

Also, BDSM kink has always struck me as inducing pain. So it was interesting to see it can also be the exact opposite - using kindness and pleasure without any hint of pain. First time I’ve come across it actually. So that was new thing that opened my eyes.

I really, really enjoyed this!

Firstly, this book is book 3 of a series, and although it is best to read the first two, it isn't a necessity. We are back in the club, but now Adrian gets his story with the owner of the Shepherd. I adored Sterling, but I never really warmed to Adrian. I mean you can sort of understand why he acts the way he does because we get his back story, but the way he treats Sterling all throughout the book was abhorrent.
Sterling had the patience of a saint, Adrian had so much going on in his life that tormented him, he took it out on all those around him. He is in trouble and potentially going to lose his membership because of a bad decision, so what does he have to do to stop it from being revoked? All I will say is it has something to do with time spent with Sterling. Every time Adrian thinks he might get his feet stable underneath himself, something happens that will change his entire world, and the biggest one is something from his past that will forever change his future. How will he deal with it all, and will Sterling factor in his plans in the end? I really enjoyed this book, (I did read the others, I loved Marcus and Lucian from book 2) I want to say that this was my favourite but I wanted to strangle Adrian most of the book, but it did invoke emotions from me, so that to me speaks volumes.

This series keeps getting better. I liked the second book, but this one knocked it out of the park. Great dynamic and a wonderful change of the alpha-omega clichés. The author did a wonderful job of making Adrian, who was such an asshole in book two, likable. After seeing his pain and background, it all made sense. Super hot sex scenes and a great D/s dynamic that was wonderfully different. A little heartbreaking side plot with Adrian's brother than I cannot wait to read more about in the next book.

I hated Adrian when we first met him in the last book and I didn’t think I would warm to him. Boy did I fall for that poor broken soul. Sterling was everything he needed and then some. God I hate his mother, what a total hateful bitch. I’m so glad that Gabriel is back and I can’t wait to start his story.

I had forgotten how much I so disliked Adrian, for a large part of the book. Yes his mother put him through hell and he was blaming himself for the disappearance of his baby brother, but I still couldn't stand him. Even knowing how things ended up, it still took me time the second time around to warm up to him. Gabriel broke my heart all over again with his "love" for the man that snatched him as a young teen & turned him into a whore in his brothel. I don't remember who the guy was that took him out of the brothel so I can't wait for his book to be released in audio so I can revisit him. Anyway, back to this book, I loved Sterling. He was such a patient loving soul. He never wavered from his love for Adrian nor trying to break down those walls and then having to re-break them down when they were suddenly thrown back up. They were perfect for each other.

Another ABO in the series, but this time I was put off by Adrian. In the first two books I found Adrian to be a pain in the arse and wondered how anyone could stand him.
Sterling, owner of the Shepherd, wanting to fill an empty nest, decides he wants to look after and care for Adrian.

Fine basis for the story, but: Adrian is definitely unlovable IMHO, and Sterling is NO Dom.
So, disappointing, although I suppose Adrian did try to be nicer eventually.

Oh this series just gets better with every book. I loved the first two books but this one just broke me.

I’ll admit that I didn’t like Adrian in book two. The way he tried to hurt Marcus and Lucian really pissed me off. He came off as an arrogant, self centered prick who thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.

I do love a snarky, full of fire omega that isn’t afraid to stand up to any alpha. I loved that Adrian used his anger to make sure nobody would try to make him feel small.

Listening to his history changed my perception of him. He was suffering so much that his only way to cope with his pain was to lash out. No, it doesn’t excuse his behavior but it does show how much he was dealing with.

I loved Sterling so much. He was so patient with Adrian. Even knowing how much baggage he was carrying, he still wanted to help him and offer him a safe place even though he too had his own baggage.

One of my favorite things about omegaverse is when the alpha isn’t afraid to relinquish control. When he would do anything to make sure his omega is happy and taken care of.

They both had so much trauma. Both needed to heal from those wounds that shaped their lives and though it took time, Adrian finally allowed himself to be happy.

He finally forgave himself for something that wasn’t really his fault. No, he wasn’t brother of the year at that moment but he didn’t deserve everything he went through.

I can’t express how much I loved this book and having Michael Pauley narrate it made it even better. The way he encompassed Adrian and Gabriel’s pain made you feel like you were hurting with them. Just another fantastic performance by Michael.

I’m not sure I’m ready for Gabriel’s story😭 I have a feeling I’m gonna need tissues.

This story is so full of angst. There are so many emotions you feel while reading this book. You are standing on the outside of the story, looking in and you want to so badly reach into the story and help both Adrian and his brother Gabriel.

Adrian show up in the previous story, Obey. And frankly, he was an ass. He treated Lucian so abominably. He was bitter and cruel and I hated him. So, I was intrigued to see how the author was going to remake him into a lovable character. Who would be strong enough to take on all of Adrian’s emotional baggage. As you read, you start to understand who Adrian really is. You see the reasons behind the external persona that he shows to the world. And at times it breaks your heart.

Sterling is the owner of The Shepherd and a Dom of a different stroke. Many other masters use pain, humiliation and other mean of control. But Sterling is a ‘kill them with kindness’ type of Dom. That is the kind of domination that he feels Adrian needs. And if he must give up his control and submit, so be it. In the long run it will give him what he wants, Adrian.

As with the first two books, this one is well written. The characters and the emotional impact of the story keeps you reading. I’m hoping that Gabriel gets the next story. And I’m hoping that more characters are added to this world. Because I’m selfish and want more stories set in this world.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

This is a fantastic series overall but I think that Stay comes down as my favourite, it is a moving story of healing, self-discovery and redemption from past wrongs. When we first met Adrian in the previous book I thought he was just selfish and petulant but once I got to know his story in Stay my heart actually ached for him. There really is no excuse to treat people the way he did but the reason behind it makes it easier to understand and forgive. He was just in so much pain himself that lashing out was the only way he could feel better and gave him the control he was so sorely lacking in his day to day life. Thank heavens for Sterling, he was so patient and so gentle with Adrian and he taught Adrian that to dominating someone can be as, if not more, fulfilling using pleasure and praise than pain. I loved that Sterling was willing to give Adrian exactly what he needed even if it was something he (Sterling) had never been into before, he was determined to love Adrian to wholeness and build a family with him. Adrian's journey to self-realisation and acceptance was heart wrenching at times but oh so beautiful.

OMG, I am so completely obsessed with this series! Amazingly enough, every book is better than the last, and this just might be my favorite one… until the next one comes out, that is. This book has such an endearing plot, outstanding writing, and bigger than life characters. These characters, so authentic and courageous, just draw you right into the story, and before you know it, you’re beyond obsessed with their lives and relationships. I know I certainly am. The journey to love for Sterling and Adrian was a bit on the bumpy side from time to time, but true love always loomed largely over the horizon for these two. Without even knowing how much they needed saving, they managed to save each other with the power of deep and abiding love and family. They succeeded in doing what is sometimes the hardest thing of all to do… and that is to stay. This book has it all. It’s simply everything, giving you all the feels and then some. I simply cannot wait to see what comes next in this extraordinary series!

*I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

Stay by author Piper Scott is an intense read. I liked the BDSM elements to it, it really brought the story together in a powerful way. The characters have a strong storyline that keeps me turning the pages wondering what will happen next.
This story is set in the Omegaverse, and is the third book in this universe. It should be read in order. We have characters from the other stories and this story is built on previous storylines.
I particularly like that about this book. Allows me to have a more in-depth relationship with the characters I meet and the ones I know and love.
Adrian’s little brother is kidnapped. He goes to the Shepard looking for peace and something he himself is not even sure of.
Sterling the owner of the kink club knows how to get to Adrian’s desires. He is perfect for him. Someone who cares and is willing to put the time into helping him heal.
This story is full of against and love. I really love the direction this series is going in. I am looking forward to more in this series too. If you love an angsty love story with bdsm thrown in this is the one for you.

So, recently, I read a BDSM book by an author who I normally like and was very disappointed by how formulaic it was. So a friend recommended I read this. I read the blurb and thought, ugh, so an Omega who’s a Dom, will be forced to submit (presumably end up liking it), it’ll be all “feisty Adrian wouldn’t submit to anyone but Sterling, how romantic” and Omega (gender) norms will be restored?

But, but.... it wasn’t that at all. Ohhhh shit, Piper Scott does exactly what I hoped for when I read the other disappointing book. They turn the tropes on their heads. They do something different. They change up the formula by and, for that alone, 5 “you go girls” stars.

If it were possible, I’d award another 5 stars for the fact that managed to redeem Adrian.

That prologue was emotional as heck. It was a great way to start this story. Knowing the fate of Gabriel (Adrian's brother), was brutal and perfect way to bring this book full circle with the other books in the series.

In the last book, I for sure wanted to clobber Adrian. I was worried about liking him and reading his story. However, in my opinion he was quickly redeemed. I am not saying he did not make me crazy with his stubbornness during the book but I immediately liked Sterling and Adrian after reading each of their POVs. I really liked that the story picks up at Lucian and Marcus' scene at the club from last book. It was nice to get both MCs POV of that.

The sex was hot. I have never read angry/hate sex before.. and lets just say.. WOW.

I really liked this story. It had emotion and sass and I really appreciated the addition of Gabriel to the story. It brought a different level to the story that was emotional and a little bit heart wrenching. I cannot wait to read Gabriel's story in the next book!

Love will set you free, so much angst

I was waiting to see how would the author redeem Adrian. He is such an unlikable character, especially in book 2. The book shows his background, and why he turns out to be like that. Well, it still doesn't excuse his bad behaviors. I sympathize with him, but I still couldn't bring myself to like him.

Also, I still was not convinced how can a very nice guy like Sterling love and believe in someone like him. Sterling is so sweet, gentle, and understanding. Maybe, at the time, his life is too smooth and easy. He needs some challenges. Adrian is something that disrupts his peaceful life and fascinates him. As a result, Sterling is determined to "fix" him.

Well, Adrian is a much better person by the end of the book, thanks to Sterling. He teaches Adrian to let go of all the bitterness and suffering, and let himself be happy. The sex scenes towards the end of the book are hot. However, I was not a fan of sex scenes in which Adrian is so bitter and angry with everything and everyone.

The next book about Gabriel should be interesting. I would love to see how he will recover.

Intense m/m romance

Adrian is a member of an exclusive bdsm club where he acts out his pain on everyone else. He is an aggressive omega determined to dominate his partners alphas included. He makes life miserable for one of the staff out of jealousy and he gets in trouble with Sterling, the owner of the club. They have a tumultuous relationship when Adrian gets pregnant after only one time with Sterling. Sterling doesn't know why but he knows Adrian has huge walls up and anger is his default position. He decides to win him over with kindness because he wants the baby even though Adrian says he doesn't. To complicate matters further Adrian's younger brother Gabriel shows up as a broken man after a four year absence. There is a lot of grief, healing and love for our main characters and hope for Gabriel. It is a well written steamy and intense story. Highly recommended.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Oh, goodness. This book was so wonderful and well written that I read it in one sitting. I don't think words can describe how much I loved it. Sterling and Adrian are such amazing characters that made me fall in love with them instantly.
Adrian is the type of character I want to learn more about. He has been through a lot and still keeps his head up ( even though he had some moments when his confidence was down and didn't trust Sterling) and tries to make the best of the life he was given.
Sterling, the Shepherd that fell for one of his "sheep". Such a strong and patient man, one that will do anything for the one he loves and to protect his family.

I've loved each and every book I've read by Piper and I can't wait to read her next books!

This was the third in the series and by far it was the best. I was given an advance copy to review and was happy to receive it. This story has a few arcs from the previous 2 books but it is not necessary to read the other two to read this one. The story revolves around Adrian, a damaged young man, forced to be someone he really isn't to cover up from his past and how by happenstance, becomes involved with Sterling, the owner of the Kink bar he attends regularly. Also, part of the story is Adrian's brother, Gabriel, who disappeared one day and Adrian felt responsible and dwelled on this, further damaging his psyche. With his relationship with Sterling, Adrian finds out things can get better, so can he. It takes a while, even a pregnancy, but Adrian does get better. Get this one, you'll be glad you did.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I recommend that you have at least read Beg as the events in that book impact the beginning of this book.

I'm a little on the fence about this book. I really didn't like Adrian in Beg, and while understanding his background helps to make him a bit more likable, I still wasn't a big fan of his by the end of this book. I feel like the change was just too fast for me to real believe it.

I'm also not sure that I really got the romance between Adrian and Sterling. That's not to say some of the scenes between them weren't hot, but I just struggle with the HEA romance aspect of their relationship.

I did ultimately enjoy the book, but it just wasn't quite as good as the previous two books in the series for me.

Of course, when you are made to dislike a character this much during two other books, there have to be a redemption book. And this is Adrians.

I love an Omega Dom, it's so rare to see and while he had troubles doing it the right way, I still loved seeing his strong side. Not taking a crap from anyone and learning to better himself.
Sterling was such a soft and patient man, strong at the same time as he stood by Adrian and took what ever he had to dish out at him.
At times this was my favourite so far, but each book have had things that I loved and that put themselves apart from the others.
The continuing between the books are organic, and to get the full feel of them, they can't be read as a stand alone I feel.

Unique and Unexpected
This book did not go at all like I thought it would, and I don’t know if I loved it for that or not. I disliked Adrian in the previous book, and it was heartbreaking reading about what he went through and why he did what he did. Sterling turned out not to be anything like he appeared either. Great story like we’ve come to expect in this series, and well written. Unique take on power exchanges and forms of dominance, that really intrigued me. While overall this book wasn’t really my thing, it was still a wonderful read and I’m looking forward to more.
