Dwayne is a rumble-tumble tabby cat who knows where he belongs - up on the farm at Muzzle Station. So, when he's taken to live far away in the town of Kaikoura, what's a cat to do? Shake the dust off his paws and start walking, of course! The trouble is, home is a very long way away . . . With a bouncy readaloud story by Sally Sutton and witty illustrations by Scott Tulloch, The Cat From Muzzle is a true tale of feline audacity that will delight readers the world over.
Sally Sutton is an Auckland playwright and children’s writer. Her first picture book, "Crazy Kiwi Tops and Tails", was published by Penguin in 2006. "Roadworks" will be her third picture book. She lives in the bush-clad suburb of Birkenhead with her husband and children
Delightful tale based on the true story of Dwayne the tabby cat who did not want to leave his high country station home and move to Kaikoura. Dwayne makes an epic journey back to his "place". Bright illustrations and a bouncy rhyming text.
My grandchildren have been given this book and shared it with me today . A lovely story , with lots of repetitive lines for children to repeat. The drawings are stunning , the mountain back drops and water scenes are truly New Zealand landscapes. It is a wonderful story of hope because many animals go missing after being shifted from their familiar surroundings . When we shifted farms 20 years ago 1 of our 5 cats returned to the other farm 3 times until I asked the new owner if we could just leave him there as he wasn't happy at the new place .
