West is a pest and Gabriel is cold and uncaring. Gabriel doesn't think West can give him what he wants in life, and West doesn't think someone as standoffish as Gabriel could ever want the things that he wants. It's funny what a little communication can do.
Gabriel Todd I'm a tough, no-nonsense chief of police of Purdy Nebraska. With all the craziness in my town, I don't have time for wild, snarky FBI agents who happened to have perfect skin, a beautifully chiseled face, and a gorgeous body. The truth is, I'm looking to settle down, and all that could come from riding this wave of attraction for the annoying, sometimes funny FBI agent is a one-night stand or a fling at the most. There is no way this twenty-something human is ready to settle down and mate. Unfortunately, I can't seem to stay away. I have no idea why I need to be in his presence all the time… until I taste him.
West Dyer Seeing all the mated couples around me and the new babies, I'm starting to get a little bit of the family fever. I want the type of happiness that I see when I look at my friends and their mates, but the one man who makes me feel like the world is tipping on its side, is a standoffish, cold tiger shifter, who can barely stand people, much less someone like me. But when I do something… A little naughty, who do you think is right there all up in my business? And how the hell did one night, a kidnapping, and a case of poisoning, change everything?
Warning: Mpreg elements!
Also, my books have little to no angst, and lots and lots of fluff! They are better read in order, because I kind of write them like a continuation of a story, and I don't like to repeat explanations over and over if I can help it. No cheating, because that makes my heart hurt, and I try to avoid things that make me sad like I SHOULD be avoiding carbs. Sorry, I just don't want anyone being disappointed if they like the angst filled heart-rippers. These read more like a romantic comedy than a romantic drama.
Look, this mpreg shifter series, made up of novella-length stories, is funny and sweet and adequately sexy (in that claiming your fated mate way that I enjoy so much), but the whole thing seems to be getting a tad repetitive and lagging a bit—a lot—now that I’m 28 instalments down.
In truth, I read this one 2 days ago, in a sitting, but I’ve kind of already forgotten who the characters were, let alone their grander scheme purpose and how they linked to the previous 27 stories and couples.
To be fair, I started this series in 2019 and have been reading a handful of sequels a year since then, so it’s probably my fault for not having keep a steadier momentum, finishing this sooner. But, also to be fair, I’ve never in my life read a 30 books series to completion before, ever, so I think I’m actually doing pretty damn well making it this far.
This series never reiterates much of what came before, assuming (and fairly so) that committed readers know what the happity haps is and therefore doesn’t waste time rehashing. I both appreciate this immensely and loathe it greatly, because of all the reasons I’ve already stated in my tortoise-speed reader habits.
The good news is—besides almost being finished the whole series, like a legend—this series remains full of likeable characters, who share some really lovely and sexy mating bonds, whose stories are mixed with a dash of action and excitement, and usually a lot of protective, possessive, and growly shifters, with definitely at least one or more sassy and hilarious side characters (who eventually get their own books) that keep the whole thing fun and light-hearted… and it’s NEVER regrettable, so there’s that.
Mpreg mentioned. Nothing graphic on page. Not the MCs. You do get interactions with "chosen" and their children. Also there is talk of human (chosen) trafficking.
Shifter Gabriel is trying to avoid FBI agent West at all costs. The man is flippant, infuriating, and sexy as sin. It's a shame Gabriel can't scent him because of the delphinium bracelet he wears all the time. But Gabriel, at 300 years old, has nothing in common with the wise cracking very young...23...agent. He want to settle down and West doesn't seem like a good fit.
Meanwhile West knows how he reacts to Gabriel and has a suspicion he is his mate. But trying to prove to Gabriel they are a good fit is another matter.
It's your typical fluff with an HEA. I do find it a bit annoying that (except for some of the shifters) all the mates are so young. Like there is no human mate over say 26. It's...weird. And statistically impossible.
I have to admit at first i was not sure if i liked the book but by the end of the.secobd chapter i could not stop reading. I liked how Gabriel came accross as a grumpy old mad but really he was actually a soft pussy cat when it came to his Mast West.
This is a shifter/paranormal suspense romance series, the twenty eighth book in the series and it has to be read in order. This is the first of a three-book set (within the larger series) that takes up back to the original location in this series and set things up for the next series! Things are getting more dangerous as the pack takes down the entire ring! These last three books have the best writing. However, you should go back to book one to start this series as they literally read like one continuous story, you will encounter the couples from the previous stories.
Oh my these two crack me up just as much as Bennett & Thompson! All the couples are wonderful & JD has an amazing skill at putting the Perfect characters together! West & Gabriel are definitely perfect for one another and are so sweet in their own way! I can’t believe those series is almost over but definitely looking forward to the spin off!! 😀😀❤️❤️
Grumpy Gabby and sweet West were such a fun pair. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. Now that I know only two books in the series remain, I wish it wasn't so because I'm gonna really miss this world.
West madevit his mission to get under Gabriel's skin every time they met, because Gabriel showed no emotion. And under the skin is where West really wanted to be
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or 'Liberty' from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times a year (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time- reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok). It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
For some reason I liked reading this series at the beginning, just a little bit, but this one made me want to strangle someone and not in a good way. I really want this to be an awesome series to read, but it is the same shit thrown together, barely any details or plot to it. So many shitty holes.... I see that there is a cool premise but no follow through. I don't believe it is worth paying for. I am glad I have been able to read them through kindle unlimited because I would have regretted buying this. Honestly writing out my anger I am just disappointed as a reader and maybe run out of patience with this series. Maybe the author was going for cute and short, but I was left feeling irritated and disappointed.
These books really are much too short, but so vey fun to read. I loved that West finally broke through Gabriel's stoicism. Though I do have to wonder why West and Dylan didn't ask for any proof of Lane's claims before trusting him so thoroughly.
This was such a sweet and cute romance involving two main characters who had personalities that were opposite of each other. West was fun and carefree while Gabriel was serious and stoic most of the time. Together they were amusing and very endearing. The story had a bit of danger, humor, action, fun and heat. I totally enjoyed the plot and the very charming characters. Excellent read. =)
I really needed to go back and see who the heck these two guys were... absolutely NO recall of either one of them... grrr
That being said... WHY do I continue to read this series? BECAUSE... the characters are just so darn adorable and they are quick reads that make me smile... EVERY darn time! *grin*
I always like it when one of the guys is sassy with an attitude . Then of course there is the grump who needs his heart softened . These two guys were perfect for each other .
