And the guy everyone is telling me to stay away from? The one who rules the school, the one who has mountains of money, the one who is drop dead gorgeous, and the one who does whatever he wants?
He's already made me a target, thinking he can pull the new girl into his world by sheer force.
And that's going to be a problem for him.
Because I've been a target before.
And it's not happening again.
WARNING: Fall is the first book in the Sunset Beach High series. It contains mature themes, sexual content, and profanity. If you're not a fan of those things, this isn't the book for you. But if you like serious stuff mixed with lots of bad words and some sweaty sex, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. It is the first in a four book series.
Presley moves to California with her Dad after her parents divorce and has to go to a new school for her senior year of high school. In her previous life, she was very quiet and submissive and never spoke up for herself. She would never talk back to anyone and she always followed others and ended up getting pushed around. She decided never to be like that again in her new school.
The day before school begins as she is laying on the beach after surfing the hottest guy she has ever seen blocks her sun with his two friends and starts talking to her in such a way like he expects her to fall at his feet. She informs him what a tool he is being, tells him she isn’t interested and walks away.
The next days in school both the surfer bad boy, Trevor Robinson and a football player Derek both start pursuing her. Derek’s former girlfriend swears revenge though Presley makes it apparent she is not interested. She does seem somewhat interested in Trevor, but they keep getting crossed signals.
The bullying parts come into play in many different ways, which I liked quite a bit. First there is some outright bullies that tell her at some points that they are out to get her like Shanna the ex girlfriend of Derek. Then there is Trevor who seems to like her but doesn’t know how to express it, so he calls her names, orders her around and when she doesn’t comply he tries to make her jealous by seeing other people, which is childish but it happens in both teenage and adult relationships all the time. I hope I am not giving too much away, since these are general and not specifics.
I really liked the topics and the flow of the book and the characters and I want to read more. It really wasn’t a big cliffhanger at the end so I am not sure if the next book will focus on the same two main characters or two different ones. I would read either.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Not bad, but Cringe and cliche! In my eyes it is similar to Boys of BrayShaw high, which I did not really like either! I have read this type of story before many times before, but better, if you like this genre stick with Bully by Penelope Douglas, or Paper Princess by Erin Watt. I would not Personally trust any rating above 3 stars for this book, because even if you are a fan of this genre, this book is not as strong or original as many of its predecessors.

Quick review for a quick read. Well, I self-inflicted this on myself in terms of picking up a high school bully romance that straddles the line between older teen and New Adult. I'm sure there is an audience for this book. I don't think that audience was me because by the end of the book I was internally screaming at events. I think up until the very last several chapters I probably would have given this the benefit of the doubt and rated it at least 1.5 stars. Maybe I would have even picked up the subsequent books in the series. But the events of the very last 10% of the book made me go "Nope. No. Absolutely Not. I'm done."
Presley is a high school senior arriving to Sunset Beach as the new girl. That has its share of challenges considering she quickly draws the attention of the bad boy Trevor, who has a lot of influence in the community and at school. I think for most of the book I liked Presley - she's probably the only reason I'm giving this story a single star because I liked several of her one liners and pushing back against what is an extraordinary amount of bullying/harassment/manipulations from her peers. That's not to say that she's a great character; she's heavily flawed and quite a bit of it isn't just because she's a teenager. "Fall" on an overarching note, is a very soapy, melodramatic trainwreck where things cascade from bad to worse as Presley tries to navigate her relationships and the drama from her peers at school.
It's not so much that Presley doesn't feel like a real teenager - she does. And it's not like I haven't seen this kind of plotting in teen and young adult/new adult media - books, TV shows, movies - before. The problem is that I've seen this way too much and, as it's presented, in the book it's very surface level. This reads quickly, but it's also threadbare. Like the supporting characters themselves feel like pieces being moved around as part of a play and I knew almost exactly what would go down before it happened. Yet I couldn't stop watching the trainwreck up to a point.
It was the last 10% that made me realize that I'm not putting myself through that again, especially with what happens to Presley. Poor girl was reacting to a lot of B.S. up until that point and Trevor was at the center of it, plus her making one terrible decision after another in addition to being pushed to her limits. But I think what was done to her pushed me over the edge to saying "Nah, I know the people around her are torturing this poor girl and she's going to end up going back to this douchebag, and I can't handle that for another book, let alone a series. I want something better than this. I'm tired of the girl-girl hate, slut shaming, misogynistic love interests, low budget calculated manipulations. Some of which was done better (and yet still vexed me) in other books like Gossip Girl, Peach Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Private, etc. I can leave this one alone."
So yeah. Really nothing much to say about this other than that.
DNF @ 47% - I don’t like either character - too immature and stupid even for a high school romance. Both insufferable idiots. Their actions and motivations don’t make sense to me. No chemistry.

I'm struggling to decide how many stars to give this book. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't necessarily good. The book had a lot of potential. But it was rushed and juvenile. Also, pretty cringey at some scenes. The entire book and falling in love took place in 2 or so weeks. If it wasn't for the sex scenes, which were written poorly, I'd say this book is better suited for a younger teenage audience. Unfortunately I will not be reading book 2 when it's released later this month. I'd give this book a 2.5 rating.
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! YA Romance. This was actually pretty good, a nice start to this series. Trevor and Presley has some great chemistry. Great push and pull in this one.
If you have read Bully by Penelope Douglas, then you’ll enjoy this book too. There is quite a bit of cursing, tension, angst, drama, and craziness in this book. The very ending had me wanting to go through the book and kicking certain characters in the butt.
I enjoyed this book, and it was a nice break from the PNR and contemporary romance books I have been reading lately. I needed a book to make me go through several emotions, and this one did it. I can’t wait until the next book in the series, and I’m glad I took a chance on this book. I also found a new author to add to my auto-buy list.
Story Rating: 4.5 stars Steaminess Rating: 3 stars Standalone or part of series: Part of series and recommend reading in order. Do I recommend this book? Yes. Will I read other books from the author? Yes. Tropes/Elements: High School Bully Romance Hero: Bully; Surfer; Controlling; Pain in the Butt Heroine: New Girl; Senior in High School; Surfer
Really enjoyed Presley & Trevor's story. This was an intriguing book for me. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a free copy of the book on booksprout.
A bit of a wishy-washy hero. Heroine lost her virginity on a whim with hero and I think he treated like trash after. OW drama, which I usually love, but I never trusted the hero.

this was so dumb. re-read from covid time bc i’m back in my high school bully romances. the plot just jumped from one point to another. no character development. all of the characters were unlikable; either they were fatphobic, slut-shaming, or lowkey assaulting.
I loved this book. I’m not gonna lie there were some grammatical errors that hopefully will be fixed but even with that I could not put this down. I’m pretty sure I seen my baby side eyeing me for basically having her dad take care of her so I could read this book. So glad she is too young and won’t remember any of this. Lol So we meet Trevor and Presley who are the main characters. Trevor is very alpha and Presley can give as good as she gets. I love that she wasn’t a weak heroine. She had a backbone and was not afraid to show it. I loved that Trevor was a surfer and the plot was in a beachtown. I can't remember reading a high school bully book that had a surfer or a beachtown so the change in the plot was nice. It was also nice to get to know the secondary characters i.e. her girlfriends and they are a rare find in a bully book. Seriously it’s nice to read a bully book and not feel like you read the same story a thousand times already. The flow was really nice throughout the whole book and it really for me was a page turner. I hope in the next few books we learn more about the main characters in the sense of touching base on more of their background/deep feelings. Especially Trevor’a. On an ending note I’m not even ashamed to admit I licked my kindle so that means I get dibs on Trevor. Haha Cliffhanger: Not really. But there will be a continuation to the story. RH or Not?: Non RH Recommend this book to others: YES
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Omg, this was bad! The guy was just.. horrible, in a cringey "hotshot highschooler" kind of way. He flirts HARD with her, then gets angry when she doesn't respond like he expects. She's always standing her ground and fending off his flirt attacks, but she wants the attention and is shocked when he gets angry. What a mess! I love a strong heroine, who stands her ground, but this one was too much! She was not a strong heroine, she was a scaredy-cat who put on a face and overreacted at things. I mean, she PUNCHED a girl in the face and BROKE her nose, just because she said something like, "see you later, new girl." And this "new girl" comment triggered her to break a bone! Obviously she had repressed anger, because the said girl was someone the hero messed around with, but regardless, she had NO excuse for physical assault like that. And hear this, it gets worse! When her best friend learned about this, she called her out on it that the girl didn't deserve a broken nose (kudos to her, I thought the writer might actually pass this as a justified thing), and our heroine instead of apologising and saying "yeah, you're right, I don't know what has gotten into me", etc., GETS MAD AT HER for not being on her side!! Holy shit I hated the heroine then, cry me a river seriously. She ignored her best friend for days and was wallowing in self pity. I almost DNF then, but decided to follow through with this book. I still don't know why.
Really loved this book. Presley is a great lead in the story. Love how strong she is.....I hope she gets back at those whom done her so wrong. And I hope her and Trevor work out. Really loving the storyline. Can't wait until tomorrow when book two releases! If you like high school bully romances and books then this book is for you. I recommend this book Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
I'm so glad my friend recommended Fall! I absolutely love Presley. She has so much will power. In charge of herself! Although Trevor goes about things wrong & says the wrong things. He is kinda trying from a good place in most.. Not saying he's a Angel at all! But I won't give any more away.. I can't wait for the next one!!
Sr year new girl with town heart throb taking notice. She moved with her dad for his new job. The school is the emotional minefield that most are. This one is certainly booby-trapped for Presley before she even gets started.
Think messy highschool drama and ego, but make it Hollywood style instead of realistic. It reminded me of back when I watched the Jersey Shore, like you know the characters are trash and you're trash for reading/watching it, but you're entertained, so you bring pizza and beer to the dumpster and you all get in there together and just accept it is what it is.
ANYWAYS, that's the backdrop, so once I got in expecting melodramatic mean girl vibes, I was just able to go with it for the most part. The way the Shanna issue panned out was disappointingly cliche' and made less than zero sense. There was really an opportunity to do something different there, I actually had started to like Shanna and hoped that she'd have a bit more nuance and depth than your typical mean girl. That's not even addressing how badly none of it makes sense. Mainly, *why* and when would Shanna and Derek be working together to take her down? They have conflicting motivations that couldn't very well be worked out, especially since they had always been toxic and at odds. Shanna didn't like her because she blamed her for going after Derek. Derek wanted to bone her. In no world does that end up with them teaming up to drug her and beat her up together. It wasn't explained at all.
Also, I realize now that this story is 7 books long with the same couple (JFC 🤦🏼♀️), but I really feel like we didn't have much of a foundation. We really needed to have Trevor's PoV to understand what was going on in his head. We can make a lot of assumptions, but nothing is confirmed by the end of the book. Also, Trevor is so incredibly hot and cold, it's hard to take anything he says seriously.
Honestly, this was an okay fast read that kept me entertained, but it definitely felt like a direct inspiration from the "After" series. The bullying and the parent drama and the hot and cold and the immature games, all very similar.
I was very excited to read this since I love a good high school, new girl story yet I ended up with mixed feelings about this book.
First of all, it was somewhat hard to keep in mind the ages of the characters so whenever I was frustrated about a decision or a storyline, I had to remind myself that they were still in High School and around 18, which means a time for mistakes.
Presley I loved and even tried to empathize with her, I think once her past is revealed you understand the reasoning behind her attitude. I loved how she tried to change, grow up, stand up for herself and never let anyone bully her and make feel small. Yet there are some decisions which frustrated me and made me think that she was just overly complicating the situation, here it the reminder of her age and inexperience.
Trevor I really loved, he wasn't much of a talking guy, he simply showed her and I hated the back and forth between them, if they simply talked everything would't have been so complicated but then again, it's part of the drama of HS and their age.
What happens at the end left me a bit unconformable, with mixed feelings. I think the author touched on a very important subject yet the execution of the seen and its consequences were a bit up in the air for me. Specially the way Presley handles everything but I loved how Trevor stepped up.
Overall, I was very excited yet ended with mixed feelings about the book, I'm still very unsure about reading the others in the series.
The cover is what made me download this book. I love all things ocean & surf related. This is a young adult romance/bully/friends to lovers book that was a very easy read.
Presley is the main female character who just moves to Sunset Beach from Virginia after her parents get a divorce and her dad got a new job. She's determined not to be the girl who gets walked on or bullied like she did in her old school in Virginia. When she meets a jerk and his friends at the beach who were blocking the sun while she was tanning, she stands up to him and practically tells him to get lost. Later she finds out that this jerk is Trevor Robinson, Sunset Beach's #1 tough guy. Her new friends warn Presley that Trevor can make her senior year a nightmare, but Presley is not afraid of him.
This book kept me interested with the high school drama...we all know how high school can be/was. The mean girl Shanna thinks that Presley is after her boyfriend and rumors are spread. There's some cool beach parties, surfing, jealousy, dirty tricks.
Trevor has Presley in his sights and did not leave her alone until she gave him a chance. He was focused on getting her, but realized that she was not like every other girl he hooked up with. He is a natural born alpha...but so is Presley. Presley was a likable character...strong and in charge.
Totally recommend. This book flows nicely and the storyline is pretty good. On to the next book.
Run if you hate teenage drama, stupid decisions, eye rolling back and forth, so immature behaviour…
But, that same girl who was stupid enjoyed this drama so much 😅
Will I continue with this series? Probably not, as I saw it will go on and on and on. But I am soo damn tempted, tho.
If you loved Netflix Outer Bank series, this is pretty much the same.
"Okay. Well, let's get it over with then." "Get what over with?" Before I can think better of it, I pull my top off over my head and throw it to the sand. "If we're gonna happen, let's get it over with." I point at the sand. "Let's just do it and get it over with." | smile. "I'm sure it won't take long." For the first time in two days, Trevor Robinson seems unsure of himself. "That...that's not what I meant."
🔶 virgin h 🔶 super manwhore H 🔶 H flaunts ow in front of h to make her jealous 🔶 h lies she slept with om, she also kisses om to make H jealous 🔶 super toxic relationship 🔶 teenage drama 🔶 Sex scenes are two and imo they are very faded. Not descriptive 🔶 om/ow drama 🔶 no cheating as they are not together officially 🔶 condoms used first time, then not 🔶 tw: h is drugged and assaulted ( beaten up) 🔶 If I’m not wrong HEA comes in the 7th book
Story line unrealistic, and Grammer mistakes become to much
Spoiler!!!!!!!!
First off the Grammer is annoying at time. Extra words are added and occasionally it makes it where you have to read the same sentence more than once. Another things the fl and mls relationship could've been better but the female lead is dumb. First off is a girl hates you with all her heart and the day after you throw alcohol in her eyes I doubt she will be nice to you. Then you agree to go to a dance with the man who wouldn't take no for an answer, you get pinned by him and if it wasn't for the ml you would've been assaulted. So many things just seemed like it made no sense. After the first book I read reviews from the next book and decided reading this book is a waste of time, so if you don't like the first book or you have my same view points read the reviews for the next book before wasting your time, I never go by reviews on the first book in a series I like to see for myself. That will make me decide whether I should look at the reviews or not
I wasn’t quite sure how to rate this book! It held my interest enough to read it in one day, but there wasn’t much depth to it, in my opinion.
The lads in it are just pigs. The way they first spoke to Presley at the beginning of the book was just creepy - like do boys really talk to girls like this? 🤮
Also I wish the main male character got more time, or we could read from his point of view. Because personally I don’t see how Presley the main female character even fell in love with him! There was hardly any conversation in their interactions, some of them where just weird!
I’m sure there’s seven books in this series, all about the same people! Reminds me of a season of 90210, but if you had to read it!
Overall I wouldn’t say go and read this book but I wouldn’t say don’t read it if you picked it up either! Easy read all round - sometimes an easy read is just what you need!
I've been in my dark/fantasy/mafia era for such a long time, reading bully romance set in school just read cringe.
Both characters are soo dumb, there is no build up to falling in love, they argue, they have sex, there in love.
This would be good in duel POV's as Trevor ( not a sexy name btw) just came across as controlling, spoilt n dumb!!!
Presley was cool until she slept with Trevor so easily.
Her being tricked by Shanna and Derick was sooo predictable, and when they drugged her I expected I dark turn (like I said read far too many dark, messed up books) so when she got slapped 3 times I was thinking "is that it"
Don't know if I'm gonna continue, the MMC annoys me, the story is repetitive..::: argue make up, argue, make up, the villains are dumb, the stakes are low, and final straw.......... Trevor is BLONDE, unforgivable.
Being the new girl normally sucks but being Presely has its perks. Presely is one unfiltered girl, who really know how to rattle people up. Her banters with Trevor are my favorite scenes. Even though the book seemed underdeveloped, I loved the character build-up. I really don't miss high school at all, but have friends that keep you grounded makes it all more bearable. Trevor is really a nutcase but that's why I love him. He's a born alpha, which is why handling Presely is so difficult because she's just as dominating as he is. How do two alphas come together, when neither of them are willing to be tamed?
