One spelled pumpkin spice latte. Three handsome but unfriendly neighbors. A town where the unexplained might just be magical…

When Opal moves to the town of Silver Springs, the last thing she expects is to be greeted by three ridiculously attractive men as her neighbors. Unfortunately, they’re kind of jerks. Getting along with her neighbors is the least of her worries though; she has a writing deadline to meet, and to meet that deadline she’ll need lots of caffeine.

One pumpkin spice latte later, the bickering between Opal and her cute neighbors changes into something fiery, something passionate. Fighting her feelings just might be impossible, and the only way to undo it is to figure out just what was so special about that latte.

Will Opal’s heart win out, or will her head? Maybe that latte wasn’t such a bad thing after all…

Opal is a standalone reverse harem romance. It is part of the Jewels Café series and contains steamy scenes.

Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.

Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!

If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.

Happy reading!

I know that a lot of people read this genre for the well written sex scenes, for the fact that girls don't have to be ashamed to want something. But for me this is one of the many genres I read and I actually read it with the exact same goal as every other book I encounter: I want to connect with the characters and feel with and for them.

And I have to admit that I had some trouble with that while reading this story. It's easy to connect with Opal. She's very relatable and her struggles are all too real. Luckily my neighbours don't blast music through the apartment every night, but the nights it happens I absolutely truly hate it. And it always happens when I really need sleep and rest and concentration.

But, I have to admit that the relationships with the guys seemed a little shaky. I understand that sometimes a guy is just hot and there's physical attraction (I never experienced it, but I understand it happens to others), but I missed the emotional connection, especially in the case of Kent. I think the plot and the story really would have become much better if the characters had more time to connect on a more emotional level, if they had more time to talk and really get to know each other and if I, as a reader, had gotten the chance to know them.

As a quick in between story it was absolutely perfect, but I had a few too many of those lately and I really long for a story with some emotional depth again.

Opal has moved to the small town of Silver Springs and has spent the last few weeks holed up in her small apartment as she is trying to finish her writing deadline for her latest book. She would if she could though but she has been in a rut lately as her neighbors have every day been playing music all hours and she hasn't been sleeping well and it's becoming a big unnecessary distraction in her life especially. Opal has always been the shy one and her three neighbors are hot stuff and intimidating - Ace, Brock and Kent. One day, she has had enough and decides to head into town to write at the local cafe - Jewel's cafe. There she meets Julian and he gives her one of their famous pumpkin spice latte's. Those from Amber's story will remember the beginning of Julian and his famous Pumpkin Spice. She takes a sip and suddenly her brain is alive and fingers on fire as she pumps out chapter and chapter and some steamy sex scenes too. Once she arrives home, love will take it's course as she finds herself the center of attention from not just one or two of the hunky next-door neighbors but all three. Opal by Candace Wondrak was an easy paranormal romance reverse-harem read and I am looking forward to reading more adventures of Silver Springs and their famous cafe - Jewel's which is at the heart of every story.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
This was a quick but a steamy and cute romance. There wasn’t any bad antagonist, prophecy, or trying to save the world. Just a single author trying to navigate her life while living next door to pain in the rear neighbors who also are drop-dead gorgeous. The characters were all fun and easily relatable. Kent is probably my favorite... ohhh how I love a good dominating alpha male that oozes sex. I need a Kent in my life. This was a really good quick and easy read!

Opal.and her Neighbors

I love Opal! She cracks me up with how her !and thinks. So she is trying to meet a deadline but her good-looking noisy neighbors are keeping her from making that deadline. So what does a girl do, she gets to get them to chill out. One day she decided to go to the Cafe and tries the pumpkin spice latte! What? Why? Well she has a deadline remember. When she sees her neighbors Ace, Kent and Brock she starts thinking about them. She thinks it's because of her deadline! Funny then all of a sudden their attitude changes towards her. She is still trying to wrap her mind about that. So she finally just goes with it and boy does it get interesting. They all want her and two are brothers!!!

Wow, this was a wonderful story and perfect amount of heat. Loved it!

The first human pairing, the one with the least drama so far and probably the most graphic. Three neighbours and a writer, not forgetting the Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Plenty of sex, most of it is sex. Kent stood out the most.

DNF. I JUST CAN'T.

Let me start by saying I am a big fan of Candace Wondrak's work. I've read several of her stories and have really enjoyed most of them and recommend them quite a lot.

This one was just such a big fat no for me. I'm not going to star rate it because it comes down to personal preference rather than writing or story quality for me.

Here's my issue:
I hate, hate, HATE "my traitorous body" trope. I can't STAND an FMC who ignores all bad behavior by the MMCs just because they're physically attractive. Nope. Can't do it. I'm beyond sick of this trope.

I didn't feel any actual chemistry between the characters (although I did not finish the story so maybe that comes later? Seems backwards though) and I did not find much that's actually likable about any of the guys.

I had to stop just shy of halfway through.

If you're cool with an FMC who allows the physical beauty of a man alter how she reacts to the very wrong and rude things he does then give this one a shot. It was not my thing.

Fun series of stand alone books in a shared universe with a little bit of character cross over.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

This is the most human of the Paranormal Romance RH series Jewels Cafe.

When a human goes to get a drink at a local cafe to get away from her three noisy neighbours, she unexpectedly gets more than she bargained for by drinking the Pumpkin Spiced Latte that (by now if you haven't read the others) is said to bring your fated mates to you.

When she gets back from the cafe she starts looking at her three hunky neighbours in a completely new way... Not as enemies. Oh no. But as potential partners. But how can she choose? Does she have to? and what about the three men who have been unexpectedly thrown into the arms of fate?

This fun story is filled with fun, sexy and interesting scenarios for those who love the RH and PNR genres.

Writing out sex was just weird, you know, a new fresh and exciting thing.

Opal had moved to Silver Springs a month ago. She had made no friends, and got totally irritated with the three guys next door. She was a writer. Her publisher told her to "beef up" her sex scenes. With all the noise from next door, she decided to explore the town and find a coffee shop to write in. Jewels Cafe, of course. After drinking a pumpkin spice latte, words starting flowing from her hand. And what words they were! Suddenly, all she could think about was sex. When she encounters her annoying neighbors again, thoughts and actions have definitely changed.

Human among the supes questioning magical things

It's not to bad to live on your own, but most people work a m-f 9-5 job. Opal writes. Or tries to. Kind of hard to sleep let alone write when kept up all night by the music playing directly next door. Or maybe it's fate banging down her door. She's loves Harry potter and true blood, but she's completely human, but there are some almost magic things going on.

The story features Opal, a writer who recently moved to Silver Springs and her three rude neighbours. I was upset over how the neighbours had treated Opal in the beginning and would have liked to see more grovelling on their parts to win her over throughout the story.
Although it was nice to see some of the Silver Spring characters featured in this story and watch how Opal's journey progressed, I missed the magical elements of the town and kept looking for more magical elements.

This is not a paranormal story

This is just a reverse harem story based in Silver Springs. Opal is a writer and she goes to Jewels Cafe to drink their pumpkin spice lattes. After that she really started noticing her three sexy neighbor's and they began noticing her. Ace is a musician, his brother Kent is a Dom and lastly their best friend Brock is a painter. Pretty soon they are all together doing those spicy sexually charged scenes.

Opal and the three different guys

Hmmm, what do I say? This was an okay read, not bad at all. Just doesn't match up to the other books in Silver springs library. I must say this seemed more like erotic romance than a novella, with less of storyline and only sex. Among the guys, Ace and Brock were sweet but Kent's dominant character wasn't really attractive.
Tell me one thing, who exactly doesn't lock the front door of their house?

Contemporary Romance

Pumpkin Latte strikes again! Opal is a writer with a deadline. Her 3 gorgeous neighbors are keeping her awake. She just wants peace and quiet . She goes to Jewels Cafe to write. She gets a pumpkin latte . It's magic. Everything changes. I, so love this series. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Opal

Opal and her neighbors bicker at every interaction. Bossy, dominant male - check. Angsty, depressed musician - check. Artistic, peacemaker type - check. Repressed writer in need of inspiration - check. What more could you ask for from Candace Wondrak in this delightful book? How about a FUN ending?

Jewels Cafe does it again

This time around in Silver Springs, the Pumpkin Spice latte hits home for a human and for her to find her very own human harem. Loved the writer aspect and the interactions between the characters. I'm still flying through these books and loving every moment.

Loved ❤

Candace's books are always a one-click for me, when I found out I had missed this one, I dove right in!

Short but sweet novella that is part of the Jewel's Cafe series, it had more than a few laugh out loud moments, some super hot scenes, and a cute group dynamic.

If you haven't read Candace's books, I'd highly recommend you do, they are worth every ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A grumpy writer and her noisy neighbours

When you are a writer you need quiet, Opals neighbours were anything but, passions where getting tested , after a few confrontations Opals imagination starts to run away with her it may have to do with a certain Pumpkin Spice drink from a certain Cafe. A great book in the Silver Springs realm, I can't wait to read the rest.

Those PSL's can really push you in the right direction. Love that Opal gets the nerve up to confront her noisey neighbors and then gets more then she bargained for at least in the beginning. HEA with steaminess that continues to build and love the way she takes charge. Each of the men have different personalities that bring out different aspects of Opal.

I enjoyed this book!

I really loved this book!! This was different from the others because she was human and a Writer with human men! I liked how well written this was. It was cute and adorable! I didn't really like one of the guys, because he was demanding and a little bit of a jerk. But they were great!

Okay, I finally got a chance to read Opal, and this book was so freaking cute! This series has been on my list for forever, so of course I had to start with Candace's book first! Opal was sweet and sassy, and her neighbors were certainly annoying yet sexy! This was a fun read, and I definitely need to get myself a pumpkin spices Latte! Highly recommend!

Nice going but… everything was too quick. No development of feelings. Straight up jumped from hate to love, it was really annoying. Kent was annoying. Ace was weird. Brock was the only one I liked.

Least favourite book in the Jewels Cafe so far.

I really don’t like the PSL effect. Feels like cheating, a trick, like love is cheap.

When your neighbours are frustrating as hell, sexy as sin and annoying AF ... what do you do? Opal has choices ahead of her that will change life - one way or another but will she even notice with a pending deadline? Great read!

Very Good Read

Couldn't put it down, was a wonderful enemies to lover story. I don't normally write reviews for every book in a series but each book is written by a different author so really should. Excellent reads and moving on to next book and author.

Yes maam

Ok so if you want full on sexy times this is it. It is short and too the point. I hope to read more about this 4 some later on. This satisfies my carnal side quite efficiently and my husband and vibe will think the author for it. Thanks for a great trime.

A cute and quirky read. Opal is a strong character who is a writer and has 3 annoying sexy neighbors who she ends up with in the end. Kent the dom, Blake the artist and Cole the heartbroken magician make her heart and other parts pitter patter.
