Jamie Drayton is a man of standards and substance. In a world full of women with none at all, he is in no rush to give his attention to anything less than the vision of the woman he envisions. More than positive that he would never find the woman of his dreams, she unexpectedly crosses his sight. With his focus shifted, he stops at nothing to emerge himself in her presence, if it's only for a night.
Hasina Payton is all about her business and she finds herself with no business at all. Trying to regroup her life, she takes a leap of faith that lands her in the right position for everything she never knew she needed. Giving her new life a jumpstart with the support of her friends, she finds that there is much more waiting on her than success.
Now that Jamie has seen her and she's denied his entry into her life, the game is on and no bets are off the table. With Jamie on a mission to make Hasina his own and Hasina setting her eyes on the prize, will they find the colors they're looking for or will the paint run dull on this canvas of love? Find out in Color Me, You.
I'm assuming this book was early for Aubree because it mentioned 2019.... This book was mid at best. The writing style just wasn't good to me. It wasn't telling the story but more like describing it in a bad way and I was annoyed.
This was a really cute story…Jaime was a perfect gentleman and Hasina allow 2 months to pass unnecessarily without allowing Jaime to give her an explanation…but, eventually she got herself together and allow Jamie back in and they got their HEA…it was also good to see the other connections too from Ryan & Gee Gee and Thad & Jasmine.
Jamie was determined to have Sisi and his efforts proved it, regardless of the resistance she gave him at times. Storyline held my attention as their relationship went thru changes. Realistic characters and situations. Great ending
There were some very nice lines/poetry in this book, and I love the creative arts/fine arts, so that was a plus. I loved how Jamie saw Hasina and looked at her as if he was mesmerized and dazed, like he just met his future wife. However, the story itself seemed so rushed and underdeveloped--and not because it was a novella--the flow wasn't quite seamless and the writing was a bit choppy. Jamie was accused of something he didn't do, didn't quite do, said it was true, but then denied participation. It sounded more like waffling and made me cringe. Where was the man who was spittin' those lines to let Hasina know he was a real man of substance?! The chemistry between Hasina and Jamie was there, but not hot and poppin' in the Aubree Pynn style I'm used to. I liked Jamie though, but his friends, his "boys" sucked and came off as immature college boys. They practically forced a "bet" on Jamie and never owned up or took responsibility for the mess they caused. Even after Jamie told him that wasn't his style; even after he had been involved with Hasina for at least a month! They were crass and rude, and the mentioning of the "bet" the way they did and where, was unfortunate, and I knew it was going to be used as the "conflict" to separate Hasina and Jamie. The flow of that was frustrating. Hasina's friends were much more likable, but it made me wonder why they were with the two "idiots" who were Jamie's friends, or why they didn't get the truth out of them for their girl Hasina?! And I would have loved more conversation on the art work, especially and more specifically on the two pieces they painted separately: the one where she painted herself empty and the one where he painted her filled and overflowing.
A. P HAS DONE IT AGAIN! I KNOW I’M LATE TO THIS NOVELLA RELEASE, BUT IT’S BETTER LATE THAN NEVER😁. THIS BOOK DIDN’T EVEN FEEL LIKE A NOVELLA, IT MOST DEFINITELY HAVE FULL NOVEL VIBES.
I COULDN’T STAND THAD, HE IRKED MY MOTHERFUDGESICKLESTIX NERVES WITH HIS PHUCK BOY CHILDISH DISRESPECTFUL AZZ🙄🤬🤬🤬. I KNEW JASMINE WAS GONNA BE THE ONE TO MAKE HIM GET HIS ISH TOGETHER🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽.
JAMIE & SI-SI❤️🔥! TALK ABOUT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. THAT MAN PLAYED NO GAMES ABOUT SISI AND WAS VERY INTENTIONAL IN HIS PURSUIT OF HER MIND, BODY, SOUL, AND HEART. AT TIMES SHE IRKED MY NERVES WITH ALLOWING FEAR TO LEAD INSTEAD OF JUST GOING WITH THE FLOW (CAUSE THAT’S WHAT WE AS WOMEN DO). THAT SITUATION WITH HIS FRIENDS 🤬🤬🤬. SHE MUST DEFINITELY PISSED ME OFF NOT SHOWING HIM TO TALK TO HER. GEE-GEE AND JASMINE BOTH GOT IN HER AZZ ABOUT LETTING SO MUCH TIME PASS AND SHE WAS BEING MISERABLE WITHOUT HIM🙄🤣. THAT BAR SCENES 🫶🏽. THE PERFECT ENDING.
Alright now AP! Got me feeling creative as Fulbright now! 😁 Jamie is the truth! When he said he goes after what he wants, and gets it; he meant that ish! He was a good man ready for love, and a loyal friend. Hasima was not trying hear him, like at all! He would watch her from afar, and when the time was right, he would pounce like a wild cat! He allowed her time to adjust to her feelings, all while he was proving to be just the man she wanted and needed! Their love was authentic and real. Both could not believe the good fortune of finding each other. I could have strangled Thad for that stunt he pulled, but it all worked out. Another great read! 👍👍👍
I was already an Aubree fan. Mostly because not only can she do urban romance but she can do authentic black passionate love and that’s what you get with Jamie and Sisi. Sisi is representation of so many of us, jaded and guarded because the guy prior was a misrepresentation and mistreated our heart. Jamie is hope and love manifested. He came in like a rushing wind proving that a man knows when he finds a wife and nothing can stop him when he does. I loved the faith undertone used in this book and the way that Jamie references Sisi as his queen. The writing layout and style were new for me from Aubree but she captured it beautifully.
This book just didn’t do it for me. Jamie was such a cringy leading man. He was supposed to come off as a confident man going after what he wanted. It translated to some serious stalker vibes. The fake deep “you’re my rib” speeches were so corny. It was hard to get a feel on the timeline of their romance. It felt really rushed and not fully developed. I didn’t love the guy’s friend group even though it reminded me of Lawrence and Chad from Insecure. The lady’s friend group was a lot more likable in an Issa and Molly kind of way. I was looking for a super quick read to finish off my month. This book provided that at least.
Jamie took one look at Hasina and he knew that she was his rib but she shot him down even though she was feeling the pull to be with him. Jamie didn't give up and he tried again when he saw Hasina out with GeeGee and Jasmine. Jamie colored within Hasina's lines and filled her up of all the things that she was missing and more. I so didn't like how Thad was jealous and tried to come in between Jamie and Hasina. I like how three best friends ended up with three best friends even though Thad && Jasmine aren't married but Ryan && GeeGee and Jamie && Hasina are.
I loved Jamie and Hasina. I loved that they shared kindred spirits and had no clue until the moment they met. The chemistry and the love between them burned up the pages and I was here for all it... I loved jasmine and Geegee every woman needs a balance in friends and I loved them. Glad that they all got an happy ending... Definitely can’t wait to read what’s next
This is my first read by this author and I am glad. This was a beautifully poetic love story of two people who love and create art somehow fell in love with each other. The connection was organic, spiritual, a once in a lifetime experience. I don't even know what I should read next by this author because she raised the bar high with this work!
Sappy, artistic love is my jam!!!!!!! This story was sugary sweet and I enjoyed every word. Artist are so deep! Jamie and Hasina and their soul tie was a beautiful gift. Those vows!!!! Sigh!!!!!! There are some editing errors but I didnt penalize cause I loved the story.
This story was amazing. I was rooting for them all to find happiness and they definitely did even though it was hard at sometimes but they found their way back. Thad he was something else I believe it was jealous and a hater at first and didn't want his best friend to find love but when he finally met his match in Jasmine he realized everyone needs love.
A quick afternoon read that was well written. Pynn is poetic in how she uses words; She creates a feeling and a vision. The intentional love Jamie has for Hasina is found in the words and phrases the author selects: soul tie, water my garden, and rib are a few examples.
This was such a beautiful love story. Jamie as a character and his ambition to win Hasina over was fascinating to me. I really admired Hasina's determination to achieve her goals, as well as her friendship with Jasmine and GeeGee. There were several times when I laughed out loud. Such a poetic and well-written story.
Hasina’s and Jamie’s love story is so heartwarming! This story explains soul mate prefectly for me ! I love how easy and engaging the writing was. I can’t fault this short story, every romance reader’s dream I would say. Reminds me of the song Hrs and hrs my muni long
Each line in Jamie and Hasina’s story was simply poetic! Of course they had some trials, but what love story doesn’t! Their vows to one another... I almost shedded tears reading it. This was simply beautiful!
The flow of love in this book will definitely lead you to want a couple of forevers with someone. A different view of AP but I had NO DOUBT she would kill it. Jaime and Hasini levels of expression really to me to another level in looking at love.
I love all of your books and read them all. They give you things to think about for your life and situations sometime match what you're going thru. I still wish that her would have gave thad an ass whipping he deserved. Very good novella.
Jamie and Basins were meant to be from the first time he laid eyes on her. I liked this book a lot, it flowed so easily and it was a sweet and easy read.
Yes! I loved it. Jamie and Hasina ”SiSi” were perfect. I enjoyed how their loved played out through the. Color of art. Beautiful!! I love Ms. Pynn style of writing ❤️!
Hasina & Jamie’s love story was enough to make you say, “Chile where is the spiritual connection I seek?”. This book was filled with restoration, love, erotica at its finest and humility. Don’t cheat yourself, instead treat yourself to this book! Again Aubree thank you for sharing your gift
3/5⭐️2/5🌶 - I love to read novellas because after I finish a great book I lowkey be in a slump. Like I don't wanna move on from how great the book was. This was a novella but it was very regular. I like them filled with smut and cute little scenes since they are so short. This one was not lol.
- So the fmc was Hasina or SiSi but it also talked about her friends. Sisi was a artist who opened her own gallery and she was girl bossing real hard in this book. Then the mmc was Jamie or J.Eli. He was also an artist and a lot of his stuff was on display at galleries. They meet at this outdoor running trail and he lowkey becomes obsessed with her.
- Ofc everything happens quickly because its a novella. I enjoyed the soulmate thing and how perfect they fit into each others lifes. Now remember I said Sisi bffs were in here they get with Jamies bffs. So Ryan and CeeCee get together and Thad and Jasmine get together. Cute right one big happy family with triple dates and what not.
- I enjoyed it though, it was kinda stupid when the third act breakup came but it was cute. I would recommend something with a little more spice but this might do it for yall lol.
The story was good , I liked the couple and could feel their energy. The storyline fit very well with the character development and the pacing of the story. A good read☺
