Quinn Ivers thought she knew hell when she was claimed by Tobias Kahler, the man who would stop at nothing to have her. She found herself isolated, mother to another's child, and carrying a child of her own.

Yet the road through hell is long and dark.

Now she is in the glimmering city of Highwater and under the thumb of the city's vicious leader, Lee Grimes. Quinn is caught in a tangled web of deceits and horrors, but she'll do whatever it takes to see her daughter safely out of Lee's clutches.

The players might have changed, but her goal remains the same.

Freedom.

Damaged is the second book in the Omega's Destruction Trilogy, a raw and thrilling Omegaverse tale. It is not a traditional romance, containing dark themes and complete power exchange. Horrifying, brutal, & raw

Damaged is one of the most compelling, addictive books I've read in the Omegaverse genre.

An emotional read, I teared up many times. Eva Dresden is brave and unapologetic in her depiction of a misogynistic society where Alphas rule without retaliation. The author doesn’t shy away from the abusive behavior that would occur in such a society. While I appreciate this dose of realism, the gritty portrayal of an Omega suffering in this kind of society won’t be for everyone. I suggest checking out the warnings before starting this series.

Damaged is one of the roughest, most brutal Omegaverse stories I’ve read. What Quinn went through in Broken is a cake walk compared to what she goes through in Damaged. The Alpha’s Claim series by Addison Cain is a fluffy fairy tale compared to Quinn’s journey.

Damaged starts out with Quinn firmly under Lee’s control. A major portion of the book is Quinn dancing between Lee & Ilya. At only 20% things got so dark I lost all hope of revenge and redemption. I tossed all my expectations out the window and was just along for the ride.

If you can do that, you might enjoy this book.

edit:If you want to be reminded of what happened in Broken before starting Damaged, this review has a good plot synopsis (it's at the end of the review under the spoiler tag). Here's the Link

Trigger Warnings: Brutal, explicit depictions of sexual assault. Starting from the beginning all the way to the end. It’s heavy. Noncon, noncon, noncon, dubcon?, noncon.

If you thought the last 20% of Broken was too much – this book isn’t going to make you happy. The sexual violence is multiplied in Damaged. If you thought Broken was too abusive, fair warning, Damaged is not going to be your cuppa.

On the depiction of rape:

Safety:

HEA:

Cliffhanger:

Damaged is not a standalone, it must be read after Broken. Damaged ends on a soft cliffhanger, and according to the author the next book will be released early next year. Omega's Destruction will be a trilogy.

The first chapter of Damaged is available for free on Wattpad: https://www.wattpad.com/791410757-dam...

Some rambling thoughts~

Tobias- I want to say so much, but it’s difficult without it being a spoiler. Eva Dresden stays true to her voice. Most the the book is from Quinn’s POV and Quinn goes through hell and back before she gets answers regarding Tobias.

Quinn goes through such degradation at the hands of Lee and Ilya – I truly wondered how Tobias and Quinn could ever come together again. Just when I was about to throw my kindle at the wall because I was so fed up with how much sexual violence came Quinn’s way Eva Dresden gave me hope. A thread to hold onto. I hung in there and Eva Dresden managed to pull it off in a way that left me satisfied. Warning: Tobias doesn’t change. He’s still a large shadow on the wall for the majority of the book. If you can hang in there there are eventually answers.

I appreciate the character continuity Tobias maintained; Eva Dresden didn’t soften him to satisfy readers wanting a lighter dark romance. Eva's characterization for Tobias is solid, imo. I'm really impressed with Eva Dresden's ability to craft characters that feel real and authentic.

I want to note that this author describes herself as a horror writer. Yes, she writes dark romance as well, but she’s also classified her own books as horror. The first chapter is available on Wattpad, and it’s tagged as ‘horror romance.’ If you look at Eva Dresden’s Goodreads profile she’s read almost all of Stephen King’s books…I think that says something about her influences. I'm not sure that many will get this reference, but for me Eva Dresden to Omegaverse is like Marilyn Harris to Bodice Rippers. Those familiar with Marilyn Harris will get this. Marilyn Harris doesn’t threaten a character – the threat is a promise and it will occur to the character or something worse will occur in its place. The men aren’t heroes; they’re often villains and they aren’t redeemed.

Tobias & Quinn:

I want to add more thoughts but I don’t want to spoil anyone! I may come back and add my thoughts later under a spoiler tag.

Wow...I am at a loss for words, and that pretty much never happens, lol.
I was blown away with Broken and literally planned two whole days to myself just to get lost in Damaged.
I bought chocolate Hobnobs, fresh coffee beans, whipped cream for the coffee, and chocolate sprinkles for that.
I stocked up my bedside table with chocolate buttons and cheese crackers (don’t judge me - I’m PMSing), and I jumped into my nest (aka the bed of a thousand blankets and pillows).

And I got lost.

I got lost in this darky dangerous world that Eve has given me.
I got lost in Quinn’s agony.
I got lost in the sheer power of so many alpha males.
I got lost in a world where might makes right.
I got lost in scorching hot sex scenes.

She wrote this story in such a way that I became Quinn.

I held her hopes and dreams.
I felt her pain.
I’m pretty sure that was slick in my bed…
I loved her daughter.
I felt my body tense when she fought.
I craved her mate!

This is a different style of review for me because this is a different feeling for me.
I got so carried away that I caught my husband giving me side glances wondering if it was okay to approach me again-or would I lift my lip and growl at him...for the third time.

I will, however, do my duty and share with you a scene that got me going, lol.

Something between fear, anger, and desire twisted through her, pulsing low in her belly as her thighs clenched in reflex. The heat of arousal burned her fingers, her grip slipping with the proof of her excitement as she avoided meeting his eyes. The flush of shame swirling with need felt too hot, searing her cheeks and chest. “Fuck yourself, kiska. Show me.” A surreptitious glance showed her too much and yet not enough. He stood over her, chest heaving with his panting breaths, each exhalation a low growl. The thick length of his cock, throbbing and leaking his excitement, was caught tight in his fist, but he didn’t stroke it. Staring at her exposed pussy, the blistering intensity of his gaze centered on where her shaking hands pinched back pink flesh.

FINAL THOUGHTS on DAMAGED by Eva Dresden.
This book was everything I needed it to be and more.
I LOVED how primal, raw and rough it was.
If you like Omegaverse and dark erotic stories then please, please do yourself a favour and read this amazing series.

5 Stars just aren’t enough.

OKAY, I WAS GOING TO GIVE THIS POSSIBLE TRILOGY ANOTHER CHANCE BUT AFTER THIS ONE, I'M GOING TO PUT MY FOOT DOWN AND SAY NO. I'm very puzzled about all the raving 4-5 stars because frankly I have read better with REAL DEVELOPED characters and great plots, not to mention sexual tension/chemistry. This was a jumbled mess of RAPE induced words.

1. THERE WAS NO LOVE BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS.
2. RAPE WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE HERE, AND I'M FINE WITH IT ON FICTION...BUT HERE AGAIN IT WAS BEING OVERLY DONE.
3. THE STORY WAS SO DISJOINTED, I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT 'BROKEN' WAS ABOUT TILL I HAD TO GO BACK AND SKIM TO KNOW WHY I'M EVEN CONTINUING TO DAMAGED.

HERO was always MINE MINE MINE. There was no love or affection that bordered on genuine emotions on his end, except to claim what's rightfully his. Frankly, if it's not BASER INSTINCTS talking, then it's just his PRIDE talking. No LOVE at all. In BROKEN, he mated her just to bring her in as a mother for his son...okay more like NANNY. In DAMAGED, my mind was DAMAGED when I had to read her fucking Lee all the time...and half the story was gone before Tobias came back into the picture, still mean and still useless...So what if he ruined other syndicates for her? There was no show of it, no nothing but him saying it. Am I supposed to kowtow to you? If I were Quinn.

HEROINE was a victim of abuse and multiple rapes from the moment Tobias plucked her from the club she worked at. She's better off dead. Seriously. In this book, her story continues after she was caught and then sort of rescued by Lee and then raped again. By the end of this book, I was so sick for her and the only joy she had were the children. Tobias never proved his worth to her a lover or mate only using FORCE and PHYSICAL FORCE. I kind of question her sanity by the end of this story because frankly..she seemed on the verge of going as insane as Tobias's first mate.

OVERALL I'm going to give up on this one because it's not giving me any form of pleasure at all except endorsing rape culture. While I don't cringe at fictional rape that some authors do write about, I draw the line when the characters don't inspire love, trust or even a semblance of respect for each other. Heck, even those mafia stories we read had better heroes and that's saying a lot because they were quite brutal.

This story is brutal as fuck and Eva Dresden does not apologize for it. Quin is destroyed and damaged beyond repair but she is strong and carries on for the love of her children. Tobias can't help but be his usual fucked up alpha way but probably because he too has suffered some sort of trauma through the painful link of their bond. If you are waiting for some sort of fan service of romance and love, then please be advised that you won't find it in this fucked up love story. Quin's plans are always a colossal fuck up and Tobias is a human disaster and that it the reason that I keep coming back for more.

Don't really know how to rate this book. I definitely enjoyed the second half more than the first, especially those big emotional reveals near the end (arguably the first hint of romance in this entire sequel).

But the first half of this novel was an unending portrayal of sexual torture, and I feel like a lot of the sex scenes could have been cut in half and the book wouldn't have lost any important scenes. I didn't need to read all of that. After a bit it was just too much sex, and I needed more dialogue and connection between the characters.

Ilya just confused me (don't understand how he could have been such a pretender and what his purpose was exactly. Was it just to break my heart? Because if so, Eva Dresden succeeded thanks for that, by the way), and I suppose in a way I felt as betrayed by him as the main character Quinn did. For a while I'll admit I thought this book was going to in a completely different direction, and after his character turned for the worst I was left with a distrust for every other male lead in this novel, including Kahler.

Lee bored me to tears. He's just your run of the mill psychopath and the scenes with him in them trudged on. All I cared about was that 1)he didn't claim Quinn and 2) that he didn't take her daughter away from her.

At around sixty percent, I really just wanted the author to have some mercy on poor Quinn, but I kind of felt like it was too late for her and Kahler and I started to question whether or not I was actually reading a dark romance here and not just straight up horror. Quinn is an incredibly strong heroine, but I didn't exactly know if she could even pretend to play happy family with Kahler if he ever got her back, quite justified because of all her trauma. (and as I suspected, when he got her back he gave her no space, immediately needing to reinforce their bond which I get... but it didn't help Quinn overmuch.)

And that doubt that Kahler was even coming for her perturbed me even more. Maybe that uncertainty was deliberately placed into the novel by the author, but it didn't endear me to Kahler at all. I love a corrupt and immoral Alpha, but I feel like my one requirement is that they protect the heroine from the stuff Quinn endured in this novel.

Him not being able to get to her for a whole year while she was being subjected to Lee and Ilya's brand of sexual torture makes me unable to love him as a male lead as much as I wanted to. I warmed to him in the latter half of the book, don't get me wrong. He's emotionally inept and only able to communicate through sex, but I could feel his desperation and love for Quinn even if she couldn't really see it.

I'm really interested to see where the plot goes now that I've hit another cliff hanger. Kahler melding his identity into Quinn's (I'm assuming that's what happened when he bit her?) is just my kind of messed up, so of course I'm intrigued.

Overall, I did enjoy this novel. Quinn is an awesome badass who's love for her children is so incredible, Kahler is super complex even if I view him as a bit of a failure, and the writing is top notch as always. I just could have done with a bit more emotional depth and a lot less sex. Just... it was just too much. It's this book's one major issue.

No rating. But I'm looking forward to the last book in the trilogy.

TW: Sexual violence on every page, gang rape, non-con. This book is dark. Eva Dresden doesn't hold back when she's portraying this world. I thought there would be some reprieve for Quinn in this novel, but I was very wrong. I'd only recommend this book to people who are hardcore dark romance/erotica fans. This book makes Captive in the Dark look like a happy daydream.

A descent into cruelty and madness

I think Eva Dresden is even crueller to Quinn, than Addison Cain is to her omega heroines! However the fires of hell have truly forged her into a strong weapon, one who bides her time, chooses her moment and is prepared to sacrifice her very soul to save her daughter. This book is not just dark, it is viscous in its evil intent, dragging your soul down into its murky depths and tearing at your heart. And I loved every minute of the pain and despair.

Quinn forgot an essential truth, that an omega can never trust an alpha, forgot they view her as little more than an incubator, forgot her value lay in her ability to breed. Promises are lies, and kindnesses hide true intent. With a child to protect Quinn balances on the edge of a knife blade, trading her body for supposed safety, trading her soul for enough sanity to survive.

Tobias is determined to claim back what is his, but will he want want Quinn when he sees the damage wrought to her body? When he sees the evidence of the price of her survival? If he finds her will he forgive her? Can she forgive him? Despite being determined to reclaim her, whatever the costs, despite thinking he's doing what is right, I'm not sure if Tobias has earned any forgiveness yet. He clearly hasn't heard the saying "If you love someone set them free".

I really don't know how Quinn holds on to her sanity and hope. I'm sure if it wasn't for Elise, Quinn would have let go of both by now. Her spirit was 'Broken' in book #1, her body and mind were 'Damaged' in this book, I hate to think what will happen in 'Destroyed'! I have a sneaking suspicion that Ilya and Curtis may be involved, along with some nefarious plans.

PS It's a while since I read book 1 and so much happens towards the end of it that I do recommend a quick re-read of at least the last third.

Holy Moly!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

It was brutal. I had to take time out after reading some of the scenes. So much sexual violence. My heart broke for Quinn. She endured so much; bending down to the awful Alphas yet not breaking. A true strong heroine.

It was clear to see what Kahler saw in her. He is lucky to have her, but I can’t help feeling he does not deserve her. It was highly frustrating to see they just could not communicate with each other. Quinn with the turmoil that she just went through; her need to have some space...yet Kahler continued to smother her. While I appreciated we got to see snippets of Kahler’s anguish as well...by and by he still remained the tough, demanding, you-do-as-I-say Alpha. Ahhhhh! I really shouldn’t complain as usually that is what annoys me when reading other dark romance books...when the “alpha/anti-hero” goes to mush and does a 180 in personality...but with everything Quinn went through I just wished he was more understanding (enforcing the bond probably was his way of trying to make things better for her...but its just another way of smothering her).

Definitely will be reading book 3, hoping Quinn finds the happiness she deserves.

Good Lord

If I had thought the first one was BAD the second is absolutely horrible I mean WTF is the point in writing another book she could have ended it instead she keeps drawing it out trying to be like all these other authors milking you for every buck. Luckily for me it was free for KU subscribers so it didn't cost me a dime thank goodness because really there is no positive to this book, no shinning light at the end of the tunnel. I swear if this were based on factual events and omega's were a real thing and I was unfortunate enough to be one I would put a bullet in my head, that's how bad she made this story for omega's. However Quinn really drove me insane after all the freaking crap she went through at the end Tobias was actually being his version of nice to her and she just wouldn't budge! It was really irritating maybe it's me just trying desperately to make a good guy out of someone but I mean he was straight up with her told her he practically moved heaven and hell to get her back. He killed for her. She was his mate, he wasn't unfaithful to her, all he required of her was to act like a mate. If acting like a mate is just being respectful, showing appreciation for the food in your belly and the roof over your head, and of course there's the sex part and yes he does get rough but Jesus she proved through out the book she likes it better that way any ways. If that's all Tobias wants then I say it's a heck of a lot better then what her other options were. Anyways this book was a waste if you're looking to read something with non stop sex then this is your book oh and it's not consensual by no means

Did I mention Broken was dark? How am I loss for words. Destroyed is cruel. This book is raw.

Quinn's power of endurance against all kinds of insanity shows. Her shame, her hopes, her love for Elise. Stolen from one prison to another Quinn is now in one corner of majestic hell. Surviving among the rabid alphas, she tricks and plays them. Each day passes tackling the alphas. She acts meek and subdueded to the alphas and fierce for her baby.

This book surpasses book 1. It is an emotional, roler coaster ride. I was so emerced. This Omegaverse go beyond a very dark turmoil.

And finally the book covers of Broken and Destroyed are done by Eris Adderly. The covers look more perfect to me. 😁

It's rare that book two surpasses book one in the series, but Eva Dresden definitely managed to accomplish this with Damaged. This story gripped me from the first word and it still hasn't let go some time after I've been done reading it. My heart broke for Quinn's suffering and cheered for her strength. I am not sure that I've ever been as mad at book characters as I was while reading Damaged. I held my breath for a large portion on this book and, in true Ms. Dresden fashion, once I thought I could exhale, the breath was knocked out of me again. The storytelling was so vivid and emotional that I felt as though I was experiencing everything right along with Quinn. Similar to Broken, Damaged was packed with lots of steamy alpha/omega action. The book is full of triggers. It is DARK! if you were not OK with Broken, then this book is not for you. But if you are brave and read enjoyed Broken, then it's a must read. My only complaint is that now I have to wait for book three!

This Woman Can Write

She makes you see everything! Wide open, slammed open in your face writing. Two thirds of this story was all violence and manipulation. Stark acts of evil perpetrated on Quinn, whose only offense is being unlucky enough to be an Omega, the least among these. There is no kindness, in that world for Omegas, so the contrast we experience at her Alpha's house is almost refreshing, if she were just given any choice in the matter. Omegas are never asked. They're told. But Quinn's fight for self is amazing and gallant, yet somehow so deranged in the onslaught of what she has to endure. I'm on to the third installment, where the HEA is supposed to be. I'm reserving my judgement on that.

Now to a pet peeve about editing I've been seeing way too often in books lately. In the English language we have verbs that are called irregular, because they change their spelling when used in the past tense. These past tense verbs do NOT all end with "-ed!" For instance, "fight" would not be spelled fighted. It would be respelled to "fought." " throw" would not become throwed; it would be "threw." And " weep" would not be weeped but "wept." Please editors get it right! It's annoying to be flabbergasted by grammar when reading an otherwise perfectly stupendous, if chilling, book.

Eva Dresden is definitely one of my favorite authors now. I love how dark, desperate, and real she makes her stories feel. It’s hard finding an author who writes so well and makes the characters feel like actual people. I looove this series so much and all her other books.

Buuut, one thing I do think is really lacking is any sort of dialogue between Kahler and Quinn. I understand this is part of the relationship and maybe just her writing style, but there’s just this total lack of communication that seems almost...unrealistic? Or odd? That’s really my only problem. Like they’re either f*cking, in a silent argument with tons of description filler, or not in the same room but barely speaking. She spoke more with Lee and Ilya than she did with Kahler. And maybe the intention behind it is to show she’s truly scared of him, or that he’s incredibly difficult to speak to, but I think it would help the relationship blossom/at least make more sense in the reader’s mind if there was more dialogue between them.

Anyway :) That’s it! Can’t wait for the next book!!

I liked the first book better than this one the ending left me confused and just skipping over paragraphs. Not a welcoming act. While it could have been much worse, especial if read by someone with triggers, it did result in me finishing it. I have mixed feeling about the next book. One thing though, I think this book would have been better if we learned what actually happened when Tobias rescued her. I wanted to know if her captures died at her hands and whether Tobias let the other Alphas, Lee and Ilya know how angry he was with their treatment of his mate. That would have made this a better book. But that’s just my opinion.

Fascinating. Loved this! [Spoilers]

Such a powerful story of survival in a world where an Omega has little agency to control her life. And so tragic. She’s so damaged from the repeated abuse that she has PTSD. Thus, she misreads Kahler constantly, who differs from all the others in that he wants her to possess him. He wants to be hers. He wants her to own his mind too. Loved that twist at the end.
Can’t wait for the next in the series.
Great writing. I’m hooked.

Dark story with lots of triggers. I'm not sure how I feel about the H right now. I definitely thought book 2 was better than one. The h seems like she is so made at her dynamic like she cant get over it but then she is overcoming some series trauma. She is strong of mind for sure. I'm ready for the next.

Quinn is repeatedly sexually assaulted by Lee and Ilya. This is a brutally dark book. The telling of the tale is a bit chaotic…it’s like the author was having a mental breakdown as she was writing it. You wonder how Quinn lives through so much sexual Violence. Eventually she’s rescued by Tobias and you get a hint of his caring for her…. Maybe… or maybe it’s just because she’s an omega and the mother of his children….She’s totally broken physically and mentally. Her children are the only reason for her to push through.

This book was definitely a really good purchase. Initially, I wasn't sure about the author's voice as the writing was very stylised, but after a while I really enjoyed the unique cadence of the author's writing and sentence structure.
The story was really engaging though quite dark and not for those after a HEA type book, although this is a middle book so there is still some story to go at this point.
I loved the main character and it was difficult to read in certain parts as Quinn was really put through the wringer. The story was really well imagined, the writing vivid and I'm really looking forward to the next instalment.

Give me more!

I cannot say enough how much I love this new series and author series.

I seen on good reads how many new books Eva had on good reads and have been stalking her Amazon page ever since waiting. Impatiently.

So, Quinn... get the woman some anti-depressants and therapy! Big headed Alphas thinking only with their little heads, that only more forced 'mating' will cure emotional abuse
Tis the life of an omega.

The men in her life... all seem a hero at first or at one point or another, but all just bully, manipulate and abuse her. Ilya did have me rooting for him though. I wonder what was in his head he stood there while they confronted her.
I was proud of Quinn when she tried to play Ilya and Lee against each other and then REALLY fought back. Sucks neither really helped her save herself though.

One thing I really love about this author is that her books have the length. I hate when I get into a good story and it's over before it really started. Or it drags on with filler and I lose interest. I loved reading all this great stuff, get to an exciting part where most books will just leave you hanging, just to look down at the progress % to find I'm not even half way through and I have alot more to go before it's done.
And while this series isn't finished, I dont get that crazy whiplash from a cliffhanger. I feel so excited about continuing poor Quinn's story but not left with that insane restless feeling of a story leaving you hanging with a far out release date.
I will have to re-read books 1 & 2 again before 3 is released because I have a poor long term memory but best bet, it wont be a hardship. I read on Kindle unlimited but I think I'm just gonna buy them for keeps once the final book is out.

Please, Eva, I neeeeeds book3 asap woman.

Damaged is the 2nd book in Dresden’s 3-book series, Omega’s Destruction. Following a reading of the 1st book, Broken, I wrote that this was an extremely dark romance series. So dark, it seemed there was no hope of any light in Quinn and Tobias’ future. In Damaged, the mood has not changed. Quinn’s world remains ultra-dark; more especially because she has been abducted, physically and mentally abused by multiple perpetrators since she was kidnapped from Tobias’ home. Damaged relates her time living with Lee, a very powerful Alpha crime lord and his band of Alpha-thugs. I spent two-thirds of the book with my stomach muscles clenched, feeling the anxiety that Quinn lived with daily in Lee’s clutches. Lee is devoid of a conscience basically. She worries day and night over the future of her (and Tobias') newborn daughter, Elise. The bond Tobias had initiated in her when he mated with her drives her insane nightly, causing what she believes are hallucinations of him. Lee’s second, Ilya, begins showing affectionate attention to Quinn, and she doesn’t know whether she can trust him or not. I experienced fist-clenching worry over whether Quinn would be able to survive living amongst a pack of rabid Alphas. Would Lee or Ilya harm her? Maybe they really would tear Elise away from her. I cried a lot too, agitated over those fears and whether or not Tobias would find her and rescue the two of them. As I knew it would, Damaged ends in a cliffhanger, awaiting book #3 to enlighten us about the fate of Quinn, her mate Tobias and their children. Five stars.

This series is beyond addicting! This book picks up not too long after the first one ended. Kahler is still searching for his omega and Quinn is still just trying to survive and figure out how to gain her freedom. Only now she is trying to do it from 2 VERY dangerous men. Lee is the boss of the new city she is now in and because she is pregnant he is protecting her. For now. Ilya wants Quinn for a mate and he is willing to share. But once again people are making plans for Quinn's future and she doesn't have a say in it. And soon there will be a baby to worry about as well. . .

Meanwhile Kahler is desperately searching for Quinn. And because of the mate bond he can connect with Quinn in her dreams. And he isn't happy.

I REALLY didn't like Lee or Ilya. Those 2 were cut from the same mold and they have plans and they don't care what anyone else wants our thinks. And they are willing to hurt Quinn in order to get what they want.

Kahler just made me like him even more then before. You finally get a glimpse of his feelings and why he took Quinn. And the lengths he would go to, to keep her.

These books are by no means short, but when you get an author who writes this great the book flies by so fast you almost want to cry when you realize it is over. Especially since you have to wait for the next one! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

OMG...so much rawness. I thought the first 3/4 of the book was tough to get through but then I hit the last quarter of the book and I was just done. The funny thing was it was not as dark as the first 3/4 of the book. "A choice." That pretty much sum it all up. What I wanted to see happen, happened and yet I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. I hurt for everyone in the book. Damn Eva Dresden! Now I gotta wait for the last book. I might have to go back and read the first book again since there was some things that happened in it that I forgot. It should help clarify some of the questions that popped up while reading this book because it's been a while. Please, please, please, if you do not like dub-con/non-consensual relationships, this is not the book for you. There is nothing vanilla about this book at all. Only dark and twisted minded readers of dark dark romance would enjoy this book.

The second book is as good if not better than the first. How Quinn hasn't broken completely is beyond me with what she is going through.
Quinn has been taken in by Lee, who is a very bad man. She has her baby but had a hard time giving birth. She has a baby girl she names Elise. She loves this baby and vows to be a better mother than hers was, to protect her. Life doesn't get any easier because they (Lee and Ilya) have plains for her. Lee is cruel and mean to her. Ilya (Lee's right hand man) makes her fall for him. He treats her better than Lee. There is a plan in place but Quinn has her own plans to try and get her and Elise out of there. The plan falls apart and Quinn is subjected to brutal horrors. Then suddenly she is rescued by Tobias, who has been trying to find her all along. Quinn is reluctant as she feels she has traded one prison for another. What does fate now have in store for her? We'll have to wait for the next book.
