I thought the book was inspiring and a good teaching tool. The book did open up my eyes to her journey leading to and as a medical examiner and to the inside workings of the Washington D.C. forensic lab. I would like to use this book as an inspirational tool and as a learning tool for my allied health students. Personally I related to so much of her life that i would love to meet her. Very interesting, just at times a bit slow.

While visiting my son and grandson, I forgot my book in the car, so, took this book from his bookshelf. I think it is intended for a young person in terms of how she wrote it. I think her story is not an unusual one of growing up as a smart and driven Black girl and having to deal with challenges from both her own community as well as from a white community. I can see this book being an inspiration for some.
