Meg likes to plan her life on a spreadsheet. Tania believes in letting the universe take charge.
Theirs is an unlikely friendship, to say the least – especially since the two met because they used to date the same guy. At the same time. Now, as older, wiser twenty-nine-year olds (and flatmates, no less), they’re determined to enter their thirties with the one thing that's still missing from their halfway happy that elusive long-lasting romance.
When a routine conversation ends up with them laying bets on who will find love first, the battle lines are drawn. Now, if only ridiculous first dates, nosey aunties betting on their bet and complicated professional lives would get out of their way for the girls to find their One.
And, really, what is the shortest way to finding love – via probability calculations on a-date-a-day week, or just being in the right place at the right time when the planets are all aligned and there are no Venus–Uranus oppositions?

Here's a book celebrating female friendship, a coming of age story of two young women in an urban setting, written in a light and delightful manner. The city could be any Indian city and the two women, Meg and Tania are instantly relatable. Finding love, falling in love, navigating through dodgy clients and tricky supervisors at work, and the inevitable heartbreak make for interesting reading in Judy Balan's typical self-deprecatory prose. I loved the world that Judy has set her characters in, the building, the nosy neighbours and the watchman who seem to be overly invested in the love lives of the young women, Meg's relationship with her mother, directly contrasting the relationship Tania has with her mother - everything done on point. The men don't feature too much which has its pros and cons - I'd have loved to see more romance and some more sizzling chemistry but at the same time, the book is utterly devoted to the friendship between both women and how they have each other's backs. The ending was filmy and a little over the top BUT exactly what I wanted to read!
It was a disappointing read for me, I just couldn't relate to either Meg or Tania and most of all their friendship. There were certain parts that were good but I only pushed through and read the entire because I liked the author's previous works.
I Have A Theory About That; is a light and refreshing read. Meg and Tania two besties and flatmates are on a mission to find themselves their “true love” over a bet.
While Meg is a meticulous planner and a goal- digger, Tania is a go-with-the-flow and trust-in-the-timings-of-the-universe kind of a girl.
The two live by their theories of finding their Mr.Right and the plot takes some crazy turns until everything’s set in place. I love the bond the girls share. Tragic break-ups, emotional break-downs, work pressure and some growing up takes the reader to a happy end.
The plot is relatable and casual also quite “filmy” in many ways. Nevertheless, pick it up to relax and unwind.
A good book which talks about two female friends/roommate who are totally opposite and their bet to see who of the two will marry first. it is cute on some part and totally a fast pace book
Gosh, this book was so much fun!!! Judy Balan, you did it again.
I have a theory about that is such a fun and entertaining story with female friendships, cute love stories, Virus(dog) attacks and THEORIES. And the story is taking place in Chennai. Meg and Tania, two different personas have an unlikely friendship since the two met because they used to date the same guy. They both end up being friends, sharing an apartment and now have a bet on who will find love first.
The characters are so relatable. We all would have met Meg and Tania in our life. You'll fall in love with them both. Throughout the story, I felt like taking a cab to Alwarpet and find these girls and give them a huge hug.
Meg is someone who plans her life and follows every step to achieve what she wants. I loved her planning and checking off the list thing throughout the story. I loved how she tries to hold her life and I just admire her. Tania is more like going-with-the-flow kind of person. She believes that the universe will show her the way and follows that. And she loves animals. She believes in astrology and you'll get to know about the signs and predictions.
The book is written amazingly and you will feel every emotion they feel. This duo has captured a place in my favorite fictional friends list.
Every chapter starts with a theory from Meg/Tania. I'm going to write them all and post in my wall. They are so cool and hilarious. Light and happy story. This book would make an amazing rom-com movie. 4 stars for characters, 4 stars for story and 5 stars for theories in every chapter. I'll round up my rating to 4.5 stars for the enjoyment.
"I have a theory about that" was an amusing read. It has friendship, love stories, growing up and theories. Meg and Tania, two besties are on their way to find themselves their true love. Where Meg is a precise and rigorous planner who schedules her chores while Tania is a go-with-the-flow and trusting in the universe kind of a girl. Both of them come up with different theories to find their love. With, ugly breakups, anxieties, and their tangled life everything eventually demises at peace.
I found the characters to be abrupt and pretty much relatable. I'm somewhere between Meg and Tania. At times I believe to go with the flow and sometimes plan some of my works. The sentiments and their duo pact were fun to read. Overall, recommending it for a light read.
