After five years as a widow, MacKenzie is ready to move on, maybe. Still unsure of herself, she agrees to attend a bachelor auction in which a date is up for bid. Could this be the step she needs to make that move?
There’s just something about her…
Sebastian spent the year following his divorce throwing himself into work and avoiding anything that had to do with love. When a favor for a friend leads to a chance meeting with the lady of his dreams, he begins to believe in the happily ever after.
With an ocean separating them, it won’t be easy, but together they’re sure to discover a love that is something different.
This book is intended for mature audiences. This story contains strong language and sexual situations. All characters are of legal age.
Allegra is an indie author who enjoys writing steamy love stories with a twist. The twist would be her imagination. Originally from Massachusetts, she now resides in Southern California. Some of Allegra’s favorite things include all things purple, glitter, fairies, and unicorns. Her hobbies are reading, procrastinating, listening to music, watching sports, and napping. If she likes you, she’ll bake you cookies or cupcakes. If she doesn’t like you, she'll write you into a story and, well, bad things will happen. Never make an author angry. It won't end well, trust me on this one. You can find Allegra fluttering around Romancelandia, figuring this author thing out, one book at a time. You can follow her adventures in writing on most social media platforms.
Allegra Johnson finished the GDMF book and she penned a wonderful, witty story.
Sebastian, a 48 year old, silver fox of a male model, was dragooned by a pushy friend (Eva Moore’s literary doppelgänger) into taking part in a bachelor auction at the last minute. Reluctant as he was, the tables turned when a chance meeting by the elevators revealed the woman of his dreams.
MacKenzie Jenkins has been widowed for five years. After the loss of her one true love and the father of her three adult children, she wasn’t expecting to find love again. She wasn’t even looking. New Year’s Eve in London, a pushy young adult daughter, Ella Jenkins, and an auction paddle would change her life in one night.
I laughed uproariously throughout this entire story. Allegra Johnson’s wit shone through the entire tale. I couldn’t help it. The mother-daughter banter was so on point. The sexy times were plentiful in this story, but they didn’t take away from the relationship building, it was still apparent. There was an instant connection, but it was believable. Yes, two grown folks experiencing grown folks’ love and no big misunderstanding—I am definitely here for that!
I can’t wait to follow The Silverton Series to see what this family and their friends get up to in the future.
With the beginning set during New Year’s Eve, this novella has got no choice but to run at a breakneck speed to shed the old and embrace the new.
Catering to my Carpe Diem-loving heart, Something Different has its mature main characters MacKenzie (45) and Sebastian (48) falling into instalust with each other within moments of meeting. Her winning him at a charity bachelor auction gave them the opportunity to spend a brief time together which was not nearly enough as the attraction starts to develop into something deeper.
The obstacles of physical distance and lifestyle differences were quickly dealt with and voilà, we have a happy-for-now ending. As this is the beginning of a series, we expect to see Kenz and Bas many more times in the upcoming books.
A mix of autobiography and fairytale, this novella is a promising start for this new author. There are things to improve upon like pacing, and strengths to build on like humor and unique quirks. The teaser promises opportunities for fascinating character arcs for the future heroines in the series which is exciting to anticipate.
Great debut book by an author I can’t wait to read more from. I really enjoyed reading about a more mature couple (he’s 48, she’s 45) finding love and having a hot physical relationship. Unique meeting and interesting characters. Looking forward to more!
Nice to have a story about an older couple (in their 40s), but why does she speak like someone in her 20s? Also, as she's pouring out her doubts about the relationship, wondering how it's all going to work, he interrupts her to propose and she says yes and that's it? Nothing got worked out, nothing was discussed or decided. The proposal simply wiped everything away like magic! And then the story ends, right there. Gurl, you did not just do that.

I love that the protagonist were mature, experienced, and a little jaded. I'm a sucker for the underdog females connecting with the confident, successful men. My issue with the read was that the heroine went from somewhat reluctant and shy to a bold sex kitten within a few pages. She was kind of all over the place.
