Many people today are asking the “meaning-making” questions. We want our lives to have meaning. We want to know how our faith informs our work life, how our family life enhances our spirituality, and how we can feel less fragmented and more whole. These are the spiritual questions of life. They are wisdom-seeking invitations stirring within the depths of our souls. These are the hungers that theological reflection can help feed. This book offers an understanding of theological reflection—a model and a method. It will not only illustrate how readers may use theological reflection in their own spiritual development but will also show how to facilitate the process with others. —From the introduction
In Theological Connecting Faith and Life , principles of theological reflection are presented to help the believer connect faith teaching and life. Catholic A Pastoral Ministry Series offers an in-depth yet accessible understanding of the fundamentals of the Catholic faith for adults, both those active in pastoral ministry and those preparing for ministry. The series helps readers explore the Catholic tradition and apply what they have learned to their lives and ministry situations. Includes study questions and suggestions for further reading.
As a guide for reflection, it does not give many specific instructions. Rather vague in describing how to lead theological reflection. If this was a book about how to drive a car, it would say, "Get in and start the car. Steer where you want to go. Avoid trees." If you want mechanics on how to lead, the book says you'll have to just do it until you realize you're doing it.
A well-prepared model and method for serving as a facilitator of faith formation groups by ensuring theological reflection is incorporated to the benefit of all participants. Provides clear examples present in American Catholic parishes. Looking forward to re-reading it as needed for many years to come.
The book was hard to follow. If I did not already have some understanding of the concept, I could not have followed the book. The author made several quotes to The Art of Theological Reflection, which is a book I have read 4 times.
A nice, short read on taking a deep, honest and Catholic look at our everyday life experiences - a method for recognizing God in each moment of life, from the mundane to the most intense.
