Note: This is NOT a PC story, If you're a supporter of the Constitution and freedom this is a story you'll like if you support soicalism you most likely won't like the story.

The names in the updated story have been changed and it has been reedited.

A beautiful Memorial Day weekend is shattered by the New Madrid Fault erupting. The massive eruption which exceeded the country's previous record of a 9.0 changed the landscape of the Midwest. The earthquake sent shock waves through the ground, these shock waves set off other faults resulting in the largest disaster to ever strike the country. The New Madrid Fault caused a new grand canyon where the Mississippi River flowed, the quake ruptured other faults which cared a large capital letter "C" from where the Mississippi River was, north to the ruins of Chicago and east to New York City. The West was dealing with their own quakes as the faults along the west coast erupted, the eruptions in America's faults was quickly followed by the "Ring of Fire" that runs from Australia north through SE Asia and across the Pacific to Alaska before moving south along America's West Coast.

The newly elected American President died when a giant wave rushed up the Potomac  River, the new VP had been in the UK, he flew home where he decided to focus the rebuilding on the western half of the country, the more progressive side. He decided to leave the SE to die or become so needy they would quickly give up their guns and Bibles for his assistance. He guessed wrong, the SE rose to challenge the West.

Earthquake, a story of what could be.

Fantastic Reading

If I could ask God for one thing it would be for Mr. Tabankin to live many more years. If you haven't read any of his writings you have miss so much. Earthquake was a good book on something that could happen. I was disappointed when some characters died. I am hoping we see a book two.

A tremendous book!

Having read several previous books written by this author, I was intrigued to purchase this book. I was not disappointed, this is a very well written, well research, and believable book regarding a major earthquake. This combines scientific, political, and Military.

Very realistic

Too many people think that this scenario is fear mongering. If you do your research as well as Tabankin has, you will know that this very well could happen. There are leaders and followers, those who are politically correct and those that believe in our original constitution. This book will make you face your choices. A very good read. I learned a lot.

Scary, Wonderful

On what a horrible imagination the author has. Wonderful story, so very believable. I sincerely hope it never comes to pass. Highly recommend everyone reads this book. The science scared me, didn't know about all the fault lines.

The author's political views couldn't be more obvious, so I knew what I was getting into. I've seen titles from Tabankin frequently because I'm always looking for new books in the 'end of the world as we know it' genres. I finally decided to try a Tabankin book because they always sound interesting. I don't consider myself a 'socialist,' although my views are definitely left-leaning by this author's standards.

I actually feel hopeless when it comes to politics. Although my views lean left, I despise too many things that most....outspoken...liberals stand for. The nanny state laws coming from state legislators in blue and purple states are infuriating. Mainstream liberal views on censorship are one of the most problematic issues for me, mainly because most liberals don't consider censorship from their own side of the aisle as 'censorship' at all. They justify it and insult and ridicule anyone that disagrees.

I realize there's a difference between government censorship and a private company or organization. I would never argue against the right of private companies to enforce their own rules. They can do as they like with their own products and services. That said, it's still censorship no matter how many excuses people come up with to justify it.

Anyway, the fact that I'm not quite as far left as others didn't matter when I read this novel. The political views are obvious, but the book is terrible beyond that. There really isn't much of a plot, and every action and thought is accompanied by rants. I thought the events portrayed in this novel had to be interesting, but I was very wrong. The book is boring. That's even worse than the string of actions and decisions from cardboard characters that don't make any sense. Terrible grammar, poor sentence structure, and continuous spelling errors are just the unappealing icing on this almost indigestible cake.

I want to know why so many authors do this. They're obviously writing for a very specific audience, but what's the overarching goal? Are they just trying to sell books or do they want to influence others? Beating people over the head doesn't prompt critical thinking or discussion. A well-written book that isn't obvious political propaganda would be much more effective. The poor writing quality doesn't make a good impression either. In my opinion, poor quality writing with such obvious problems shows that the author doesn't care about providing a quality product for readers.

I rarely give a 1 star review, because I really believe that most authors genuinely want to tell a good story, even if they lack the skills to do so. Not this book. Fortunately the astonishing prologue provided a warning and hijacked the story with a long ultra right-wing screed, using 2 current Democratic party presidential candidates that win the next election and what policies they initiate as a backstop to the novel. They passed Medicare for All but forced everyone off their existing insurance. All borders were opened and ICE defunded. The incoming immigrants brought crime, sank the economy and brought disease. Guns banned and the 2nd amendment fell under siege. All opiate drugs were outlawed. Abortion was allowed up to one week AFTER birth. Mandatory euthanasia of the terminal ill and people with health issues was implemented. This is so ridiculous and based in no facts or even reasonable conjectures of any current Democratic party platform that it could have been dictated by the ridiculous Sean Hannity or any other fear-mongering ideologue. Clearly the Constitution and how the law works is not part of the author's knowledge base. I read a little of the actual book to get a sense of the writing and gave up since it looked to be as ill-informed and based on as little actual science or critical thinking as the prologue. The first chapter had numerous writing and grammar issues starting with the first semi-colon, tedious dialogue and was generally mediocre. I would suggest to the author that if he wants to write books to "own the libs", he should attempt to develop some decent writing and editing skills.

Buy only if you want to put down two of the Democratic presidential candidates and can stand to read a badly written book. If you are one of those people maybe you can stomach this book. I WILL NOT BUY this other books.

Most Democrats will loath the book while some Republicans will relish the story. This should see some major editing. The first part of the book is overshadowed by facts and missing the story. The facts are something we should all be aware of.

What a horribly written book! Is it too much to ask to hire an 8th grader to read for grammatical errors? Hell even a simple microsoft word program can fix these. So amateurish! I wish I could get my money back.
I just wrote more sentences without an error than this book contained.

Pro Trump preamble

Could not get past the Trump preamble. It is okay to rape the presidential office for personal and family gain but not okay to have health care for everyone.
I didn't even bother reading the book.

Totally terrible

Using your political views and real people in this terribly written piece of crap turned me off instantly. You really need not to write ever.

Eye-opening, to say the least.

Many books have been written about "After the war/destruction.) This book is more realistic on what happens after Mother Nature/God has slammed on us. We take an awful lot for granted, and our children will not be able to cope with months of no internet, electricity, cell phones, movies, heat/air conditioning, limited food, limited water. Wake up America.

I liked the book very much. I don't agree with Trump in most of what he says and does.
And yes the book really needs to be edited a lot better. But the book showed what really could happen
if the earth decided to do it.

Enjoyable

This book wasn’t as spellbinding as some as Ira’s other stories. I just can’t put my finger on the reason, but it was a difficult story for me to connect with and ultimately to finish. I couldn’t identify with some of the characters in the story as I normally do, and for me that is a huge part of my my reading “process”, if I don’t feel like I’m experiencing all their adventures with them it makes for a difficult story to finish.

Book review

The book was a good read, frightening future that could be a reality. Good end for Harris. The vp was an excellent description of "bento" and what we can expect from that dirt eater.

Cracking Read

Great story well told. Sometimes it reads like a child being lectured but doesn’t detract from a great story. Also some big jumps in time between stories of “real” people. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The author immediately begins with scathing criticism of democratic presidential candidates and other people . This has nothing what so ever to do with the story. He is so viemenent and condemnatory that I quit in disgust after only a few pages.
This is definately a book and author to avoid.

It was ok. Clunky storytelling. Character development was weak. Not sure if I would recommend. Technical and military description was not good.
