Meh... I couldn't wait UNTIL DAWN...

No spoilers: I rated this novel 2 1/2 stars. This is a waaaaaaay out there novel about a wedding at a hotel at night during a snowstorm in a small New England town...

The story was a slow starter but eventually the characters begin to be menaced by the same creatures in the novel UNTIL THE SUN GOES DOWN by this author...

At first I was excited to see that this was maybe a sequel to UNTIL THE SUN GOES DOWN (although it was never mentioned) because the first novel was very scary...

The trouble with this sequel is that it is missing the stealth and built-up tension of the first installment... also this had way too many characters and what's worse is...

...the storylines have them all doing, saying and thinking the same things... No suspense and lots of confusing, clunky dialogue...

There was a crossover character, Amber, that the author used to attempt to tie everything together into some sense of eventual resolution but...

...what was lacking in this second novel (that made the first novel suspenseful) was the first-person inner thoughts and dialogue of the narrator who was living alone and in terror...

I removed 1 star for the almost non-existant storyline and another star for the boring characters and their repetitive dialog. I removed 1/2 a star for some (not many) proofing errors.

I recommend UNTIL THE SUN GOES DOWN by this author but this sequel added nothing to that first story. It seemed aimed more at YA readers.

If you’ve read a lot of Hamill books, you’ll find some interesting Easter eggs here. Deputy Ricky is from Hamill book Accidental Evil, so he has history with things that go bump in the night. Couple Liz and Alan are from Migrators, and thus are at least open to the idea that there are strange things that exist in this world. This story shares that aspect with its prequel: the main characters don’t waste time insisting that the supernatural doesn’t exist.

Until the Sun Goes Down was a slow, spiraling tale of one man’s horror. Until Dawn is an ensemble tale of good guys under siege in a large and complex building. They’re two different types of horror, but each one is quite enjoyable.

There are some speculations by the main characters about what’s going on with the “vampires”/lizards/whatever-they-are. Why hasn’t this infection wiped out extensive portions of the population if it’s so virulent and unstoppable? Why have they suddenly attacked en masse now? Is this something new in the world? I have to admit, I would have liked even a little more of a hint about where this was going.

This is a fun series, and I definitely recommend it.

Consider my rating a 4.5

This story picks up where the last one left off, but it's now moved with one of the Characters, possibly 2 or more.

Amber, from book 1, is visiting another small Maine town to attend the wedding of her friend Jennifer. But on the evening after the wedding, where several wedding guests are spending the night at the small local hotel before heading on their separate ways, the "creatures" seem to have followed Amber, and possibly a few others, because they are witnesses to the existence of the creatures, and must be silenced.

The pace quickens very soon and it doesn't slow down until the very end. And tomorrow I will begin Book 3 - Until The End......see you there.

This is an interesting novel on it`s own, but if you have read some of Ike Hamill`s other novels (Until the Sun Goes Down, The Migrators, and Accidental Evil) then you are in for a treat, because this references all of those books with characters from those novels. This novel takes place at a wedding in Maine at a nice hotel and while some guests are leaving, they run across some familiar vampire creatures. Soon, it`s a battle to survive until dawn with characters who have already suffered enough.

I recommend this novel to anyone who loves Ike Hamill`s novels.

The Horror Continues

In this second book of the Until series we find Amber still in Maine after surviving what should have been certain death. The creature she killed in her great Uncles house wasn't the only one. The horror continues and Amber is stuck in a hotel with a hand full of people she barely knows. Will any of them survive! As expected this book has twists and turns with great characters and a killer story.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. At all. It wasn't what it read on the back. Ehehe. I read this expecting not to sleep at night because I love horror books. This book wasn't even scary. And I'm not saying it like, I, didn't get scared. I mean, like, NOTHING HAPPENED!!! Ya there WERE monsters, but they never came after them in a suspenseful way. They were always just locked in a car or a building. 🙄

One of the characters from the first in the series returns to a new horror. It was fun to have two from another book be at the same wedding Amber attends. There is a character from another book, that is on my Ike list to read. Why are the critters after Amber and what will happen to her in the 3rd installment? Ready to read and find out!

Exciting

This book was even better than the last one. A lovely wedding goes off without a hitch in a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately some uninvited guests show up after the reception. Everything goes bad from there.

This is surprisingly scary!

I like the non-stop action. I am amazed at how brave these people are. I always thought I would be frozen of something like this happened but hopefully not.
This is a good, fast read for someone perhaps flying or traveling.

Page turner

A dark night , a rail road crossing makes for a scary story. I assume this is a part of a series that involved the main characters.

Disappointing

First book in this series I thoroughly enjoyed. This one was ridiculous and full of holes. I’d swear it wasn’t written by the same person.
