From USA Today Bestselling author Violet Paige comes another gripping and heart-wrenching sports romance.
Winning is supposed to feel good. That’s right, I’m coming down off the biggest high of my life. The Dire Wolves star sniper just scored the game-winning goal. That’s me. The Champion. Stud. Hockey god. Only I’ve become the hockey world’s villain. There’s a target on my back and my life feels like it’s spiraling. I don’t know how to get things under control.
The team’s solution to the constant threats I receive? Send in Hope Winters, NHL cyber security expert. They didn’t tell me she was beautiful, quirky, smart and sexy as f*ck. She says she doesn’t fall for hockey players.
But it’s my job to find holes in the defense. Right now, she’s the only distraction I want to focus on. I’ve always known there’s a cost to keeping score. Pushing the boundaries with Hope could change the game forever.
Cold as Hell is the second book in the Cold Love Series. All books in the series can be read as standalones.
USA Today Bestselling author, Violet Paige, lives in North Carolina and would rather be by the water than anywhere else, maybe it’s because she’s from OBX, yes that OBX. Writing full-time, mom’ing full time and taking any stray dog that walks by the porch keep her inspired, busy and mostly exhausted, let’s be honest. She writes hot, edgy and angsty romances with strong heroines and fierce loves.
Didn’t care for the writing style in either book. Jumps around and then Ends abruptly. Glad I did t buy them. Will try to remember NOT to get books from this author
I really loved Cold As Puck, so I was looking forward to coming back and continuing with the series. While there is some good stuff in here, it just didn't work for me the way the first book did, though.
I think the biggest issue for me was just that this was way too insta-lovey. One of the things I loved about the first book in the series was how great the MCs relationship was. This one kind of goes from 'I don't like you' to 'I totally want to bang you' to 'I'll give up my career to be with you' in a matter of three face-to-face encounters. There just wasn't enough relationship building for me to find any of that believable.
I really liked the stalker fans / cyber security plot angle, though. It's something I haven't read before in a sports romance, and I liked how the heroine was brought in to "save" the hero. Unfortunately, however, there's no real resolution to this plot at the end of the book. Luka admits that he's been cyber-bullied, and that's it. I wanted something to happen to the people who hurt his dog, darn it! And who hung the poster! I feel like all of that could have been done so much better.
I still enjoyed Ms. Paige's writing in this (although another round of editing might be a good idea to clean up some typos), and I love how I can expect an original story when I crack open one of her books, but this one just didn't feel as complete as the first Cold Love book. Hopefully the next will be better.
It was so good but I wish there was more. I loved Hope as being this passionate yet empathetic hacker. I loved that she just is who she is but we didn't really get into her past with her parents.
The danger twist was good but the resolution felt really nonchalant.
Luca was a gentle giant with a traumatic past. Again we didn't really dive into his past as much, there was no further story line with his brother or father. I liked how he grew as he spoke out about cyberbullying but I don't like how he said he was doing it for her. Again I feel like there could've been so much more but there went enough pages.
The spice was good but the three week insta love was meh. They really didn't solve anything as a coue other than Luca, finally taking a "best in the buisness 's" professional opinion to heart.

there were a few errors - heat should have been heart and some instead of so, there were a few others but these are the ones i remembered... also a few sentences, when read, just didn't sound right...
A scary start brings Luca and Hope together to solve who is after Luca. Their chemistry is so hot. Their interactions range from funny, sexy to sweet. A perfect combination.
I’ve read many a hockey romance. Cold as hell has a refreshing normality to it. The characters ring true and their challenges are realistic and insightful. It draws you in, and the passion is steamy. I loved Charley.
Luca's story is about cyber bullying. Just because he is so very good at what he does. The opposing fan-base targets him with hate-mail and death threats. Management enlists Hope in catching them when it gets physical.
Quite steamy and a picture into the hockey world. I liked it!
Steamy! Shows you hockey in a romantic way. Special attention paid to their differences as well as their common interests and need. I recommend this book!
I loved reading this Book about Hope and Luca. Luca is a Hockey player, Hope is a computer geek who gets hired because Luca has People Cyber bullying him.
Really liked this original sports romance. Luca Salak's Hockey, the Dire Wolves, just won the Stanley Cup but instead of feeling happy and excited his sprits are damped by the awful things people are posting on social media. The Dire Wolves management gets wind of what going on and they bring in cybersecurity expert Hope Winters to help get to the bottom of the threats. Luca in not into computer nerds and Hope doesn't date athletes. But they soon find they have a mutual attraction. But it would be in violation of Hope's contract to date a member of the team. Hope also has some family issues that she keeps everyone at arm's length. She has to decide if Luca is worth the risk when he doesn't want to take no for an answer.
Interesting take on cyber bullying with a hockey twist.
This book takes place approximately 1 year after the initial incident in book 1 but you don’t need to read book 1 in order to understand and enjoy this book. Written in dual first person POV. Good amount of fun sexy times and actual hockey (takes place in preseason and start of the actual hockey season) - book 1 didn’t have any hockey, just hockey players, as it took place during the off-season. My primary issues are that there were enough editing mistakes that they were distracting and that the primary incident didn’t have a satisfying resolution (which may be the case in real life but I wanted a sentence that said that).
Interesting sports romance that also focuses on cyber bullying. I wanted to read this book after seeing the events of the first chapter. Luca is a sniper for the Dires and meets cyber security expert Hope in the course of his work. Hope is a proud nerd, highly respected in her job. There was enough background that helped me understand both the main characters, the plot was engaging, and their interactions were hot & steamy. I liked the way the author showed what was going on for Luca & Hope; the way their pasts experiences impacted on their current situations and how difficult making change can be. Kept me reading from start to end.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
Luca and Hope are the cutest couple. The author does a great job of showing you the mind set of the main characters. I love an alpha male who knows what he wants and goes for it.
This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Luca is a hockey player and Hope is a cyber security expert. When Luca starts getting threatening e-mails, the team hires hope to find out who is doing this. Sparks fly between Luca and Hope, fast-paced read with loads of drama and great chemistry. An entertaining read.
ARC review For honest review. Wow I liked this story of Luca stark who wins the Stanley cup for the dire wolves hockey team but when he starts getting threating email and his dog gets hurt the team sends in cyber security experts hope winters to find out who it is. Awesome story
I didn’t know what to expect. I love sport romances and hockey influenced ones are my favorites. This story went beyond the normal hockey love story. Instalove, cyber bullying and a happy ever after for two really well thought out characters. Thanks.
