A really insightful book that moves past analyzation of positive and negative images to talk about the politics of representation and the ways in which blackness is viewed, constructed, dismantled and debated on television.

This book is relevant across a few academic disciplines and stands the test of time as a look at the entertainment industry and racism.

Skimmed it. Not the best book I've ever read, but it's pretty good. There's something I don't like about it; I think it has something to do with this guy being a sociologist.
