I was never a huge fun of this type of books (personal letters) but this one spot my attention because of my curiosity in the person who was Calouste Gulbenkian.

The book is structured around the letters that Mr. Calouste wrote, specially to his grandson but also to other persons, addressing a variety of aspects.

Through the letters one can understand the level of demand he would place in the education of his grandson and, above that, the importance of a flawless moral structure that should guide his grandson through life. Aspects like moral conduct, the importance of the truth or the demand in anything one dedicate time or attention to is so actual these days has it was when it was written.

In my opinion, this book is, above all, a good insight to understand the way of thinking and the (very) high standards that guided this very peculiar person and the effort he spend passing those values to his grandson.
