The Misfit: Haunting the Human-Unveiling the Divine

Rate this book
Lewis shows how Chinese students in Wuhan converted him from a selfish and alienated existence to an appreciation of the gift of life and the depths of meaning it affords to those who learn that to be fully human means accepting one's "misfitness".

A memoir of the author's years in China, particularly the first year which was when the Tianmen Square incident took place. The book explores the idea of trying to escape sadness and grief in one's life by going to an entirely new place among strangers, which is doomed to failure if you look at yourself honestly and accept the connections with others that arise.

Just FYI, Goodreads has linked this book to the wrong Larry Lewis. This Larry Lewis is a Maryknoll priest.
