Stellar Heritage #2

Spheres of Influence

Rate this book
The Bestselling series is back with book two!

After the events at Camp David, the Terran Alliance faces a crossroads—act upon this tragedy and start a war, or refrain and change the course of history. The choice is not easy since the incident leaves a young captain, Lucy Grimes, in full control of the Alliance, thrust against her will into leadership of the most powerful organization known to man.

As the Terran Alliance grows in size and strength, there are those both on Earth and off who see this as a direct threat. But they soon find that this fledgling organization isn’t going down without a fight as the Alliance endeavors to defend its home world from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

An alien civilization known as the Korvil has captured two humans and are torturing them to learn more about this new enemy. But things suddenly shift when the Shiravi—dubbed the Builders—mount a daring attack on a Korvil ship that results in their rescue. The events this sets into motion will change the frontier of the galaxy for generations to come.

About the author

Bob Mauldin

Bob lived in Montana for over thirty years, since late '85. He fell in love with the state almost instantly (who wouldn't after spending the previous twenty or more years trapped in Houston, Texas). Out in the Big Sky Country, he found the “elbow room” he didn't even know he was looking for. He lived quietly with his two cats and library of nearly two thousand books--about ninety-five percent sci/fi. He discovered that he liked to write as well and could often be found doing just that. Bob passed away in November of 2019 and is survived by his younger brother. Before he passed, he finished his writing project of more than a decade, The Stellar Heritage series, and he will live on in the hearts and minds of his readers.

Interesting follow up book

I had the pleasure of getting a copy of this book as a member of the author's sec group. It picks up where book one ended, with the attack on the leader of the alliance force at camp david. But all is not what it seems, once again earth governments seem to think that if they cannot control it kill it. But that is not the only problem the new fledgling alliance with have to deal with. The aliens that attacked them, and taken two of their group prisoner are also in the mix. Plus another alien force who could turn out to be an ally. Looking forward to the next book.

This first book got me hooked, but this second was the real attention grabber! I loved the progression of the story and how Bob is not including two alien races in it. Things are about to get interesting in book 3 and I cannot wait!!!

Great space opera

Really well developed characters that work well together in a typical earth political turmoil. Lots of space action. Twist and turns. Ready for the next one

Still good but

A tad too much trivia about politics on two different alien worlds. Got confusing since one was supposed to consider Humans as potential allies .

Great fun

This series is beginning to be a fun read. It keeps building on the first batch of characters and does not slow down. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Book 2 Spheres of Influence in the Stellar Heritage Series is well-written. Immediately continuing from book 1, this book builds on the path of keeping high tech out of government hands but doling out world-changing tech to the masses of the earth for the benefit of all. Most of this book is about how this unfolds. The action picks up towards the end of the book, and although we can guess what happens next, it's a bit of a cliff hanger. Which of course means, we gotta get book #3! And I don't mind at all. I am hoping now that we know the "processes" our group uses (building, recruiting, and such) that we can get much more into the alien comradery and conflict that have finally reached earth.

A BM. SYFY. Action Adventure (SOI) (SHB. - 2)

BM.has penned the second SYFY Action Adventure in the Stellar Heritage series. As the new Terran Alliance seeks assistance from the citizens of Earth the more the U.S. becomes a quandary of treachery and deceit as the higher officials in the US black programs attempt to get a leg up on the rest of the world. This continues until the Terran forced engage the aliens in deep space. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Do not recommend

The first book was wonderful. But the second book is not great. The just of the story is that after ten days of the supposed death of their leader they would elect a new one. Then leader turns out alive, leader then does not exist for the rest of the book any important role. This could have been a good book series but the author chose to make a bad call when it came to this issue. I personally feel like this book ruined what could have been a great series.

Such at its best!

I read book one awhile back, but re-read it! Then was happy to see book two and just finished that!! It was a great read. A little to technical at times but still great! I will be biting my finger nails until I can get book three! Simon, Kitty, Gale, Lucy are such great characters!! And their stories on getting the ship too! Great job Bob!!!

Great for tweeners.

Simple story for young people to fantasize about space. Not an adult thought process in the whole book. The first book was better.
