Ten years ago law student Cali and straight girl Esta shared a night of passion at ShudderCon. A night that ended with both their lives changed irrevocably and with Esta walking away forever.
Fast forward a decade and Cali's comic book designing career has failed to take off. She has a week until she starts a staid desk job and ShudderCon is her final gasp of freedom. The last thing she expects when she arrives is to lock eyes with the one woman responsible for changing her life in an instant.
Esta has spent a decade burying her true self, coming out of the closet only once a year to celebrate ShudderCon. And when she sees the woman that started it all she can't help but want to run again. Her secret life is tearing her apart, but she's too afraid of losing her job, her family, and her friends to come out now. Until an ex-client appears who wants to take that decision out of her hands...
The connection between Cali and Esta is too strong to be denied. But just as Cali's life seems to be coming together at con, Esta's is falling apart. Unless both of them are willing to take a risk so they can both get the payoff.
Once in a lifetime you meet the person capable of changing you forever. No one can hope for a second chance. Or can they?
Crowds, cosplay… chemistry - it’s all happening for these lucky ladies. Six lesbian romance authors have teamed up to bring you love: convention style in the brand new ShudderCon series. I liked that these two characters met at ShudderCon previously. I also loved that Esta is Indian and the interracial aspect it brought to the storyline. Cali is actually chasing some more during this four day event, but finds something unexpectedly when she runs into the woman that changed her life. Esta feels the same, but must decide if risk is worth it. It took it a little longer to get into the groove of this book.
About half way though became bored, when storyline demanded otherwise, skipped a bit, was sort of OK but loved the final chapter and epilogue which brought it all together. so well worth a read, keep on trucking!
I have enjoyed this book with Esta and Cali who meet at 19 at a ShudderCon, that change Esta life. She still keep it hidden till ten years later Cali meet her again at different ShudderCon and fell in love.
This is the first book I've read by this author and hopefully not the last. Second I've read in the Shuddercon series - might as well read them in order.
I liked the book, but I cannot imagine it being an HEA, happily ever after. More of a DEA - distrustful ever after. Every time something happens, Cali assumes the worst of Esta.
Also, not sure what is up with one of these main characters (Carolina/Cali) having the same name as a secondary character in book one, but *not* actually being that same character. Seems like an oversight.
Do you flip the coin or make a decision that last a very long time? Two people with their own drama are practically forced to make a decision they hoped was the right one. Each have their own drawbacks and joy forever . The choice is the hardest! Enjoy!
This is a stretch-of-imagination romantic madcap entertainer replete with misunderstandings, miscommunication, inexplicable love, an over-the-top villain and that one big gesture in the climax.
I enjoyed the story. This story has a lot of misunderstanding by the main characters. They have not seen each other in ten years. Nice story. I like a little more in way of love scenes.
