Robyn Nyx is an avid shutterbug and lover of all things fast and physical. Her writing often reflects both of those passions. She lives with her soul mate and fellow scribe. They have no kids or kittens, which allows them to travel to exotic places at the drop of a hat for “research.” She works hard to find writing time, when she’s not being distracted by blue skies and motorbike rides.
A collection of short stories covering a variety of genres from established, well-loved authors, and some up and coming new writers.
A fantastic collection of stories provides a unique reading experience. The variety of stories will take you on an adventure from emotional, to fun, to erotic, and there really was something for everyone – even sci-fi, paranormal, and fantasy.
Robyn Nyx has put together a fantastic collection, and brought to us some amazing new talent as well as stories from some of our already loved and established authors in the genre. Engaging readers with new writers is always fantastic, and the new writers included in the Lesfic Eclectic are all absolutely brilliant. I am excited now to read more from all of them, and intrigued to see where their writing careers will take them.
I had the best time reading this collection, enjoying the stories and experiencing the thoughts, feelings and worlds of the characters.
Absolutely loved every story in this collection and can’t fault it. Well put together, edited, and with fantastic story variety this is a definite must read for any lesfic lover. This is one collection you won’t want to miss out on.
The range of characters these stories contained were an exciting bunch. They were all very exciting and different in their personalities, from the outgoing to shy, and they all interacted depending on how their story developed. Using strong characters in leading roles each woman’s story really did suit their character, and portrayed them in fascinating ways.
A thoroughly enjoyable collection, with such excitement, joy, and wonderful. It was just fun to read!!!
Been curious about this anthology ever since Robyn Nyx announced it on FB but didn't know it was released already until Ms. Levig informed me! And it's FREE!!! Whaa?! Yup, this anthology has contributions from not only new lesfic authors but well-known, well-established ones, too, namely Robyn Nyx, Brey Willows, Jeannie Levig, Lise Gold, Jenn Matthews, Emma Nichols, Gill McKnight, Kitty McIntosh. And, this anthology is, by-and-large, written by British lesfic authors! Wicked! Don't think I've come across a non-American lesfic anthology before. Anyway....
This anthology, unlike others which are largely erotica/explicit, is I would say, a tease, in the general sense, meaning, fade-to-black, implicit scenes denoting physical intimacy. Except for a couple. And it covers a myriad of genres from pure romance to paranormal and speculative, and various different narrative styles (first-person, third-person). Obviously, like any other anthologies I'd read, I do have my favourites and worthy mentions. So, without further ado, here they are, in no particular chronological order along with a bit of my POV about each:
The Bus Stop by Valden Bush - What a TWIST! I didn't expect it until it was revealed in the end! Bloody brilliant! Time. It is indeed a state of mind, innit? - A PERFECT short story, really. - One expression: Fan-bloody-tastic!
Believe Me Now by AJ Mason - Ahhh... Conspiracy theories! X-Files! Little green men! Astrophysics! MENSA genius! Nerds! *THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE* - An absolutely brilliant speculative story concept that I would love for it to be developed into a full-length story!
Turning Point by Jeannie Levig - What a refreshingly original story....! Read and find out (hint: the mind is multi-dimensional)!
Fate Fallows by Brey Willows - Delishly gothic! Another original! - Would love a full-length story developed based on this fab short!
Heart Halfway Gone by Robyn Nyx - A copper and a mortician BFFs, unrequited love that turned out to be ?? - Would love a full-length story developed based on this fab short!
The Lighter by Lise Gold - Serendipity (or fate) at its best! Very original! What's meant to be, is meant to be, innit?
My Pleasure by Lee Haven - Body shame. This was not a tease. Original story. What is beauty, anyway? It's a state of mind, innit?
A Comet's Kiss by Clara David - Polyamorous-esque (?)...well, at least it felt like it. The past vs the present. Not a tease. Erotic. Original.
Overall, I enjoyed this very much. I'd recommend this to lesfic readers. There's enough intrigue in it to whet your appetites, tbh! :)
FYI, if you weren't aware of it already, this anthology can be downloaded for FREE from Nyx's website... Lesfic Eclectic
This is a great collection of short stories, all centred on relationships but with a wide variety of styles and approaches. I shan't hesitate to pick up other work by any of the authors featured here. Very recommended.
I’m so glad that many people enjoyed it, I’m not one of those, I was expecting more, not instant love and once in a lifetime connections with someone you just met. I tried to finish this for 2 months and I’m not going to do it anymore.
Disclaimer - I've never read an anthology - i'm probably a little averse to them because if i find a good short story i often want the rest of it which ultimately in all likelihood won't be forthcoming! 🤣
But i thought i'd give this one a go, namely to use as an exercise in seeking out other lesfic authors both established and new. I still read non lesfic fiction amongst non fiction too which means sampling other lesfic authors works outside of those i already read often slips down the 'I'd like to read' list.
This offering is the anecdote to my who do i read/try next quandary. There's a fantastic mix of those aforementioned new and established authors and there's certainly some for which i'd like to see what else they have to offer. This collection is the perfect springboard to discover other authors unknown to you.
I also liked that the anthology isn't focused on one genre, which similar to the above means that if you tend to find yourself being drawn to the same genres time and time again - you might have your eyes opened to what else might tickle your taste buds intellectually.
Overall a fab read with plenty of variety for all, which i'm sure was the intended point by everyone involved in bringing this little beauty to life!
4 stars. A really good collection of stories. A wide variety of different types or romance. Some were explicit, some weren’t and I liked that. There wasn’t a story in here that I hated, I thought they all were pretty good but the stand outs for me were ‘Bees’ by E.V. Bancroft, ‘The Lighter’ by Lise Gold, ‘Turning Point’ by Jeannie Levig, ‘My Pleasure’ by Lee Haven, and ‘Home for Good’ by Rachael Byrne. I loved all of those ones a lot. Overall, I think there is something here for everyone and it was a great time.
