Toronto born Geraldine made her home in Kau'i for 16 years, devoting herself to painting native and introduced flora. She also spent 20 summers in Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine, where she painted 200 watercolors of New England flowers, 50 of which were shown in a solo exhibition entitled, "Wildflowers of Coastal New England." Educated at McMaster University and Teachers College of Columbia University, Tam's early interest in art led to her into a variety of media, such as etching, lithography, architectural drafting, landscape painting, jewelry design and commercial textile design. She was married to the celebrated Hawaiian-born artist and poet Reuben Tam (1916-1991).
Gorgeous watercolor painting. I enjoyed reading GKT's blurbs about where the plant was found. I also loved seeing her husband's poetry included. I loved how this book made me feel.
