From Spirit and Binding is the third book in the Elements of Five series by Carrie Ann Ryan. The books are not stand-alone and must be read in order.

We are one book away from the ending and I feel like nothing and everything happened in this book. I mean obviously the story progressed enough and it prepared me as a reader for the finale, but at the same time, I feel like there is so much more to tell. At this point, I am simply wondering how the author will wrap everything up and what kind of ending each character will get. As expected, there were some losses and they were unexpected. I have like, 5 favorite characters and I want them to be alive when book 4 ends. The author is not afraid to kill.

The quality of the series is still high and I had a great time reading the book. We learnt new things about the world the story is set in and there was so much progression on the "soulmates" situation. I was happy to have a book where I could make up theories about what is going to happen in the finale and this book also happens to have the good parts of a young adult paranormal novel and not the bad. There is no love triangle and I couldn't have been more grateful for that.

Another thing that was predictable was the way it was going to end and I mean the cliffhanger. I don't know why, but I was really hoping for a good ending in this one. After the way From Flame and Ash ended, I should have known better.

Overall, the book is another winner in the series. So far, I would recommend 3/3 books!

Holy, hotter-than-hot chosen one...seriously you guys, this series... Gah. Just freakin' GAH, especially with this installment of Lyric's awesome adventures in the Obscurite Realm.
In a word, or maybe a few of them, the world's gone to sh** and the situation is getting worse by the second. Lyric, barely done with wrapping her brain around her new reality, is still reeling from some serious personal losses, along with her ragtag crew of friends and fighters. Everyone's dealing with personal dramas on their own level, but also trying to help Lyric develop some kind of control over her element wieldings and get to the place where she can fulfill her ultimate destiny as the Spirit Priestess.
On top of all this, there's a personal struggle that's not making anything ANY easier for the poor chick, and my heart just ached along with hers in trying to deal with that dilemma, as well (kind of like it is right now, trying to keep the spoilers from busting out--because believe me, there are a lot of them, and they are juicy and goooodddd....). All of these intricate character arcs are interspersed with a ton of action, fighting, and fast-paced battles that reminded me of all the best reasons I love YA fantasy. A beautiful cast and their dramatic conflicts. A gorgeous and detailed world, complete with insurmountable odds. But most--and best--of all, a brave and admirable heroine who is also beautifully, uniquely human, learning to hang onto the best parts of her humanity while reaching for her extraordinary potential... I was seriously captivated with this part of Lyric's story, from beginning to end.
It's an audacious endeavor to create a fresh and unique new YA world, and then to populate it with characters and creatures worthy of following on a quest that will test their bravery and expand their humanity. Ms. Ryan does all of this and more in the Elements of Five, earning her a place at the top of the YA firmament. I cannot EVEN wait for Book 4 to get here!

5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! This journey was exactly what I wanted. I was looking forward to this book and I was captivated as with all of this series. This is a different genre for me, but I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. If you haven't started this series you must do it now.

After the events that transpired in the previous book in this series Lyric is floundering as she is separated from those who are her closest support system for very different reasons. The most recent conflict has left many of her force grieving and injured however she must put aside her own feelings and lead before more casualties ensue.

With so many twists and surprises you don’t see coming this story takes you on action packed adventure that you won’t be able to put down. The driving force of this installment in the series is how strong and resilient that Lyric has become and leaves us awaiting the next book in the series to see what the future has in store for her.

I just finished reading From Spirit and Binding and just wow. I already loved this series and it just keeps getting better. There is so much happening and it feels as though as a reader you grow with the characters and Lyric especially. I started reading yesterday and I only stopped shortly to sleep but I just had to keep reading so I finished it within 24 hours.
From Flame and Ash ended with a major cliff-hanger and From Spirit and Binding started where From Flame and Ash stopped. There is a new player in the field that, from the start, you just know will be important even though there is barely any information about them. We also see some characters come back, that were present once but then disappeared. Something else that is new is that in From Spirit and Binding there are also parts from Easton’s perspective in addition to Lyric’s. This gives some amazing new insights. It also gives the reader a little more knowledge than either Lyric and Easton at times which is very effective in engaging the reader. There is so much happening in this story that I just cannot focus on one thing but the story is moving and constantly evolving and building and yet, this is not the end yet. A small warning, it ends on a huge cliff-hanger again…
Even though the story seems filled with action, one of the strengths is that it is not all victory and happy and good ‘endings’. There is a lot of loss and pain in the story, mixed with helplessness and, sometimes, feelings of despair. I don’t want to sound cold but, for me at least, this makes the story so much better. Because as a reader, the happy ending where everything ends up just fine is not guaranteed which raises the stakes but also makes happy moments so much more precious. And it leaves you with more uncertainty which, in my case, makes me want to finish as soon as possible because I need to know what will happen.
I had the pleasure to read From Spirit and Binding as an ARC, and now that I’m finished I hate that a little bit too because it means I have to wait even longer before the next part, From Shadow and Silence, is released. But I hope we won’t have to wait too long.
All in all, I would recommend everyone that does not hate fiction to read the Elements of Five series! It does not disappoint. It reminds me a little of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series from Sarah J. Maas, so if you enjoyed reading that series then this series is for you!

This review is written after listening to the audio version of this book.

At the end of FLAME AND ASH Lyric and her allies had just fought a battle with the Lord of Water who used bone magic to kill so many including his wife and then his son Rhodes. Easton had disappeared before her eyes and she has no idea if he's alive or dead

As this book starts Lyric and her surviving friends/allies are trying to come to terms with their losses, to regroup and attend to their wounded. Lyric has lost so much but then so has everyone involved in this battle. But with Easton gone how will she control her elements?

Lyric knows that Easton is her soulmate, but he was pulled from her after telling her he could never love her, how is she supposed to go on? Easton has been taken by The Gray, it's not the first time this has happened but this time Easton learns things he needs to know, things which may help him survive this and help Lyric with her task.

There are so many twists and turns in this third book, but I can't tell you too much about them without giving away spoilers, which I will not do. Suffice to say that both Easton and Rhodes are far too important to have left Lyric so soon.

I was engrossed in this story with all its twists and turns as Lyric became stronger and things started to fall into place. More of the prophecy is revealed to Lyric and she is warned that she will have to face sacrifice and loss for the prophecy to be fulfilled.

Easton and Rhodes and their Lumière and Obscuritè Kingdoms now have to work together if there is going to be a future for either of their realms. But what about the King of Lumière, will he agree? Easton, Lyric and Rhodes's relationship has changed so much since the start of this story.

This third book is heart-wrenching, action-packed, enthralling and engrossing and ends on yet another dramatic cliffhanger - one which just left me saying NO!

This book is narrated yet again by the talented Bailey Carr who lets us know exactly what Lyric is thinking and feeling but this time we also have the story from Easton's point of view narrated so well by Holter Graham. I admit I did like the dual perspective very much.

Never Waver!!!

The book started off where the previous one, FLAME AND ASH left off, with Easton disappearing after the battle with the Kind of the water. Not to mention Rhodes' "death".

Lyric and her surviving friends/allies needed to regroup and attend to their wounded. There were losses on both sides, being the lost Priestess and the roads that are leading to her ascension were taking a toll on Lyric. She has lost too many of her dearest ones yet she knew that she couldn't waver from her quest, no matter what.

Easton Scuro was her soulmate, she knew it deep down in her soul but as always she lost him after expressing her feelings. He told her that he couldn't love her which broke her heart. She had a feeling that something was wrong and she wouldn't rest until she discovered what it was.

There was curse on the man she loved because of Lore, who was in reality a minion of The Gray (a Shadow spirit) who wanted to rule all the realms and kill Lyric. He'd planned to use her soulmate but he underestimated the strength of her love for her loved ones and vice versa.

I loved the twists and turns in Lyric's journey, as she became stronger. Things started to fall into place despite the enormous loss she felt regarding Easton and Rhodes. It was great to see how well those of the Lumière and Obscurité Kingdoms worked together. They were all fighting for a better and more prosperous future.

Getting Lyric's background story was well done, she was so much stronger than she thought. Her allies believed in her and it was about time that she did the same. Once again blood was shed in order for them to restore the realm, if they could have done it peacefully they would have. But those who wanted to stay in power had other plans.

Loved how Easton, Lyric and Rhodes's relationship has changed since the first time they've met one another.

FROM SPIRIT AND BINDING is the third book in Carrie Ann Ryan's ELEMENTS OF FIVE series. It was a heart-wrenching, action-packed, enthralling and oh so irresistible. Carrie Ann Ryan did a magnificent job. Two thumbs up!

Yes!! We finally get more answers as Lyric continues on the path set out in the prophecy, but they come at a high cost. This book, like the others, has some very emotional moments, in between the fighting and wielding, though Lyric is not granted the luxury of breaking down as the Maisons depend on her to fulfill her destiny and save their world. It’s not easy being the savior, but in this book Lyric comes into her own more. She still has doubts sometimes, but she acts with more purpose and has grown more mature and confident. I loved seeing more of Easton and getting his pov too now. He’s a complex character, carrying a lot of burdens but still manages to be playful and loving in his way.
There are a lot of little plot twists and surprises, intrigues and plenty of mysterious foretelling and hidden danger. The pacing never flags and the detail that went into the world-building for this series is amazing. The book ends in a cliffhanger, because of course it does, and I’m on tenterhooks now, waiting for the fourth installment in this exciting and enthralling series. Definitely a very entertaining and gripping read. Recommend.

Narration: I already loved Bailey Carr’s interpretation of Lyric and that still holds. She really seems to get Lyric, and her voice reflects Lyric’s gentleness and determination both. She also does an amazing job with all the different voices for the extensive cast of characters, and her voice is just incredibly pleasant to listen to. The addition of a male narrator for the chapters from Easton’s pov makes this audiobook even greater. I very much enjoyed Holter Graham’s narration, and I think his take on Easton and his interpretation of the other characters was spot on. His voice goes well with that of Bailey Carr, and he brings an extra oomph to the action scenes, making them even more intense and gripping.

This is the third book in the Element of Five Series and it begins right where book two left off dropping the reader off back into battle. The pace of the story is perfect. Nothing is rushed, no stones were randomly tossed to the side to make room for quick endings in this series. This book was exactly what I was hoping for and so much more.

Heartbreak, confusion, curses, secrets, traitors, and love bleed across the pages in a brilliant smoothly written story, which left me on edge and desperate for more. My eyes absorbed the words as quickly as my fingers could flip the pages, and yet, it still wasn’t fast enough.

But what about Lyric? What about Easton? What about the prophecy? I have so many things I want to say. Oh, how the plot has thickened. Shadows lurk at every turn seeping their evil across the realms destroying kingdoms leaving them to ruins. Lyric is coming into her own despite wielding so much power in such little time. Easton has his own demons to fight, but I already knew a bit of it. What I didn’t know was—sorry, that’s a spoiler and I refuse to ruin this for other readers.

Trust me when I say you need this book, in fact, you need this series. It’s so good. By far the best YA Fantasy Book I’ve read this year. In my opinion, 5 ++++ stars should totally be an option. I’m so happy there will be a fourth book for them to continue their journey in.

Coming off the intense battle where they lost so much, Lyric and those closest to her take stock in what comes next. Easton being taken by the mysterious dark smoke has left her more troubled, is he dead? what exactly happened to him? if he is alive, where is he?
Lyric now wields 4 of the 5 elements none of which she feels proficient at, she always feels like she is leaps and bounds behind everyone. Struggling with self doubt seems to be her biggest obstacle, never mind her soulmate said he doesn't and can never love her just makes it all worse. A curse he said...he was cursed to never feel or give love.
Its time for Lyric to unlock the element, spirit, but what will be the cost? They have paid dearly already and the thought of loosing anymore fills her with dread. Its time to travel to the spirit territory and find the 2nd half of the prophecy only then can they move forward with their plan to save the Maison Realm. The crystals are dying and she knows that she needs to save them in order to save the realm but to do that she needs to get them in the same space, a feet that seems impossible.

The one behind the curtain, pulling the strings is revealed in this book and its quite surprising at what transpires for the resistance to come out ahead. Big sacrifices are made and additional loss for all.

The world that Carrie Ann has created with the Maison Realm is so captivating!!! I am dying to read the next book as soon as I'm finished with these. They leave you in quite the funk knowing there is no more to be read LOL.

We've watched Lyric grow so much in the last book and we got to watch the depth of her relationship with the others grow. The blurb doesn't give a whole lot away, so I don't feel like I can talk about too many things. But, the thing that was most important was the amount of growth we saw in this book. Between Lyric and her friends, her new family and the people of the Maison realm, there was so much growth! We really got to see people come together in the most amazing ways. And seeing Lyric take on so much and really learn how to be the Spirit Princess was breathtaking! I absolutely love seeing such a fierce female lead. Lyric didn't even grow up in this realm, yet she knows what her destiny is. She took that destiny and said lets kick some butt!

Carrie Ann's writing with this series is so amazing! We are given the best roller coaster ride, with the most magnificent loops and turns. There was emotion, there was fighting, there was death, there was hope, there was EVERY. LITTLE. THING! This is, BY FAR, my favorite yet!!

Carrie Ann Ryan continues her Elements of Five series with the latest release From Spirit and Binding.

Picking up where book two, From Flame and Ash, leaves off at a jaw dropping moment. Lyric continues to grow in her abilities while following the path of the prophecy that has been laid out before her. Many questions are answered but those answers come at a high and steep price. Lyric may not realize the strength she possesses but those around her do. Lyric and her band of allies truly begin to realize the force that they are together. The faith they possess for Lyric is a need bonus that steers her toward her destiny. Those friends and allies are source of support that she didn’t realize she needed and the strength they allow her is something she wouldn’t have without them.

Ms. Ryan is giving fans a truly epic adventure of a read with From Spirit and Binding. Twists and surprises are everywhere leading Lyric through a crazy emotional and physical ride. Lyric struggled at times but fate always seems to know when to step in. As this series begins to come to a close, the anticipation for what’s in store Lyric is high and sure to be even more epic in the end.

There is so much goodness going on in this 3rd book of the Elements of Five series, and Carrie Ann Ryan is a descriptive genius as I truly feel like I'm part of this world. Obviously this means that you have to read them in order, so YOU MUST READ From Breathe and Ruin (Book 1), & From Flame and Ash (Book 2) FIRST as it's a continuing story line. I'm not going to get into many details so that I don't give spoilers for those first two books if readers haven't read them yet, but know this, it's already been an epic journey and there's still more to come. Lyric is definitely developing more & more as her journey goes on, and frankly, she didn't know this world for very long now so it was impressive just how much she did. It makes for some big action, emotional, and just plain evil/danger dogging her steps with some serious f-bomb dropping twists. I wouldn't start this book before bed, because I'm not sure you'll get sleep since I know how hard it is to put down after starting it, however, it's totally worth any lack of sleep. So, hit those one click buttons on this fantastic story & series. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I am loving this series and on the edge of my seat whilst reading.

Carrie Ann Ryan has done an amazing job weaving this world. There is so much happening that you will be completely hooked from beginning to end. The way the characters have grown as this series has gone on has been amazing to watch. To see Lyric come from a normal human to this kick-as* Spirit Princess is a sight to behold! Considering what she has gone through how she is so strong I don't know but she is resilient.

From Flame and Ash ended on a WTF cliffhanger so i was excited/nervous to see what would happen next. The fight is majorly on this time an as some parts are revealed more questions are raised so i honestly can't wait for the next book in this series and can feel a complete series re-read coming on when it does.

Lyric has lost two friends dear to her both sides have casualties they need to tend to wounded the pain heartache are taking its toll on her but she has to go on no matter what.
Easton Scuro was her soul mate she felt it in her in her soul bur when she told him her feelings he told her ge couldn't love her but she knew something was wrong and was going to find out someone wanted to use him against her.
Lyric has allies that belive in her and are there with her along the way more answers are revealed in this story she continues on the journey set out by the prophecy to fulfill her destiny and save the world.
I definitely recommend to get this amazing book the whole series is a must have you don't want to miss so well written by Carry Ann Ryan with very interesting well developed characters. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!!!!

After a battle where there great losses, Lyric and her friends and allies must regroup. With Easton disappearing, Lyric is left wondering if he is alive or dead. Lyric wields 4 of the 5 elements but doesn't feel like she has mastered any of them. Self doubt is one of the biggest obstacles Lyric struggles with. Lyric continues her journey to control and manage her elements. Lyric now must unlock the element, spirit, but she fears what it will cost her. Lyric must travel to the spirit realm and unlock the other half of the prophecy. The one pulling the strings is quite surprising. From Spirit and Binding is full of twists, turns, and revelations that will keep the reader glued to their kindle. I love Carrie Ann Ryan! I would definitely recommend getting From Spirit and Binding and the other books in the Elements of Five series. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

I've never really been into fantasy, and YA, but I'm really enjoying this series. The characters seem to be maturing and working together as a team instead of against each other. The realms are divided, yet the royal families from both have switched sides and are fighting for what they believe in. There are traitors on both sides that must be weeded out in order for good to prevail. Add in the mystery of the Gray and you don't want to put down the story.

The question remains: What will happen to the crystals and the realm? Will they unite and heal or will they divide and die? Only the last installment of this series knows. And it can't come soon enough.

This is only the second book I have listened to by Bailey Carr and Holter Graham. The first being the first book in this series. I feel they embodied the characters and threw themselves into the story. The raspy voice of the Gray and his minions. The wise and tired voice of the seer. Both are perfect for these roles.

4.5-stars!

The Elements of Five series by Carrie Ann Ryan is different than anything I have previously read from this author and I loved it. I do not normally read fantasy fiction, and yet I got lost in these stories. Narrated by Bailey Carr and Holter Graham, From Spirit and Binding by Carrie Ann Ryan, the third book in the series, was captivating from start to finish. I loved the characters and their story so far very much. We start where we left off in the previous book and dive right in. Lyric is on her journey and we start to see how it all fits together but know there is still so much more to come. As characters begin to work together, we see twist and surprises at every turn. This was an amazing audiobook and the narrators truly brought the story to life for me. I am excited to see what comes next in the series.

Happy listening!

Oh loved the growth with Lyric. The way that she doesnt realise how strong she is but her friends know, her friends have faith and her friends are there to help her when she needs their help.
Was there losses? Of course there was but this quest is too important to stop, this quest needs to run its course and for Lyric to become her destiny that has been prophesied.
Loved the way that the two Kingdoms worked well together. Loved the way the journey meandered while still keeping true to the quest, and the way that Lyric grew by leaps and bounds. Shes now come into her own, in her power and her personality.
I cannot wait for the final book. But I will wait with anticipation and excitement to find out how this ends. I'm so invested in this series its unreal....I'm taking every setback and loss personally now. I'm in this til the end.

This is the third book in the Element of Five series. This picks up exactly where there last book ended, with the fallout of the battle for Lyric, Rhodes, and Easton. Each has a resolution very early in the book, which is good for the reader. This book finally unlocks spirit for Lyric, although there is not a lot of information as to what that actually is or what it is used for. We also find out why Easton cannot have a soulmate. At times I do wish the story would advance quicker as there tends to be a lot of the main characters really not knowing what their purpose is that tends to lose the reader. This like the other books ended on a cliffhanger to begin the next book. If you have started this series it does advance our story and you do get resolution to some of the unknowns raised in the other books, so it is a must read as part of the series.

This is book 3 in the Elements of Five series and it absolutely must be read in order or you will be lost as to what is happening! This one picks up right where we left on in the last one. Lyric is really starting to come into her powers and realizing what the prophecy means to her and her path. There is the action and adventure element to this book just like in previous one but there is also an emotional element that I don't think I was expecting but I truly loved! There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you involved. Things are finally starting to come together and some questions are being answered while others are now popping up for me and making me wonder about the next installment! The writing is fantastic as it always is with this author! Now I am impatient for the next one so I can see what happens next!

What a ride! I am loving this series. "From Spirit and Binding" is book 3 in the "Elements of Five Series" and continues where "From Flame and Ash" left off. In this book Lyric continues her journey to control and mange her elements as well as unlock the secrets of the prophecy to bring the realms together. The surprises, pain and heartache Lyric goes through makes me want to hug her. Some of our favorite characters are in this book along with a few new ones, allies are won, some are lost, and several secrets are revealed. From Spirit and Binding is fast paced and as you turn the page new discoveries and revelations keep you glued and wanting to see what happens next. I can't wait to see where Shadow and Silence takes us!

I absolutely adored this book! It was a fantastic read! I have been waiting for this one to come out since the last book did. It picks up where the last one ended. I highly recommend reading the previous 2 books in this series. They are all very interconnected and things will make more sense if you have read the previous books. There is plenty of action and intrigue in this story. There is a lot going on in this story as you try and figure out what is going on and how everything will come together. It holds you on the edge of your seat throughout the book. We are introduced to a new bad guy that has been pulling strings from behind the curtain for many years. I was pulled in from beginning to end and I didn't want to leave when the book ended.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

“From Spirit and Binding” is book three in Carrie Ann Ryan’s ‘The Elements of Five’ series. These books are not standalones and they must be read in order.

Lyric’s journey to become the Spirit Priestess continues on in the book. Lyric alongside her friends experience unexpected losses, new emotional dramas, relationships and bonds grow. This book ends on a cliffhanger but if you’ve read the previous two in the series it shouldn’t come as a surprise. With only one book left in the series, the finale is closing in on Lyric.

Once again Ms Ryan shows off her greatness and the ability to keep readers intrigued and interested in her stories, her characters, worlds and tales have you hooked from the moment you open the book till it’s finished.

We have the next part of the series that gives us so many of the needed answers from the questions we had from the previous story! However now we are dying to know what is going to happen in the next book!! This one was epic and amazing as her books are and leaves us wanting more from her! I love all the characters in the book Lyric, Easton, Rhodes, Wyn and too many others to name, we’ve gotten to know them over the past three books and each holds a piece of your heart! Absolutely cannot wait for the next one of the series! These books need to be read/listened to in order or you’ll be lost and missing critical details.
