This is the kind of book that's technically an "easy" read. The tone is largely conversational, the chapters are short, and there's a lot of memoir-like handling of the account given by the author. But the content demands a certain degree of pause to consider every so many pages. Even if you are someone who is closely familiar with the concept of revival.

Note:This reader has visited the North Georgia Revival 6 times in the past year--since hearing about it from a friend who drove all the way from Minnesota to attend. I've witnessed for myself the authenticity of this pastor's church, and their dedication to maintaining an atmosphere where the Glory of God shows up. I've watched four of my chronically ill friends experience varying degrees of healing in their bodies... from 30% improvement of M.E. symptoms to the 100% erasure of Narcolepsy and Fibromyalgia.

For anyone truly seeking to bring revival to their own church/city, this is critical information. Not a formula, but an opportunity to understand the critical ingredients... and the costs involved (both literal and figurative.)

While the goal or perhaps category this book falls into sounds instructional Christian living, it's not that--at least in the academic sense of being instructional. It is more like what the Psalms says, "The testimonies of the Lord are sure making wise the simple." Smith fulfills the expectation of the title by enlightening the path toward a greater relationship with the Lord, but he does so by sharing his own experiences, warts and all. It's a biblical testimony in that he shares how he received correction from the Lord in his prayer times, how he struggled with what the goal was going to cost, in short, how naturally human and common to all mankind he is and yet experienced the unexplainable.

Smith removes the objections we might hide behind such as this can't be for me and shows in his own life God's purpose in the hearts of every believer and how to achieve it.

Extremely challenging!

If you have a hunger for more of God or just realise there must be more to Christianity than you are currently experiencing, this book is for you. Todd describes the revival they are experiencing in his church and candidly shares his mistakes and what to expect when God comes in His glory. The miracles are amazing and very encouraging! However, Todd learned that it takes total surrender to host His presence and gives a clear and unadulterated challenge to all Christians - will we give our ALL to the One who gave His ALL for us? This is a must read for all who do not want to miss out on the next imminent move of God.

While it took me a second to adjust to the writing style of this book, probably because I came from reading a heavy memoir, I give this book 5 Stars. The Lord truly used Todd Smith to not just convict me but also create hunger and fire within myself for more of God, the Holty Spirit and to encounter His glory again.
I feel Todd Smith makes a good distinction between the presence of God and the glory of God. His writing is very easy to understand which helps with not getting lost in what he is trying to communicate.

I loved this book and I encourage other believers to read it and accept the challenges given.

I loved this book! The chapters are short, so my attention span stayed engaged. This author is able to speak in enlightening, transformative ways with few words. His examples are engaging and the quotes at the beginning of each chapter were challenging and powerful.

Consider the Cost

A call to change and live our lives for Christ. The stories inspire a call to not only consider the cost, for God’s glory and revival, but to be willing to pay the cost as well.

Powerful

So many times I hear people say they long for revival but they are not willing to count the cost. This book is powerful as it lays out the cost so many are not willing to give. My heart is counting the cost today. Let it be so with me, LORD.
