The future Earth is poisoned beyond repair. Order and resources are found in isolated areas; the rest of the world is plagued by famine and terrorized by local militias. For generations the Tasi family have been roving from place to place, searching for stability and peace. They finally find hope in a low-tech colony world being established on the planet of Pacifica. In pursuit of unity there will be one language, one way of life, and one all-powerful government. Anything that destroys unity will be put to a swift and unmerciful end. Anything.
The story unfolds through the eyes of various family members: 11-year-old Haru witnesses their escape from Earth and the long travel to their new planet; accustomed to wealth and technology, mentally unstable Akela deals with severe culture shock; hyper-vigilant father Loto will stop at nothing to keep his family safe. Have they found a secure haven, or have they exchanged one set of problems for another?

Haru is a well thought out book and superbly written. Characters are beautifully developed, which is key to keeping me hooked. Seana Kee is able to entrance the reader with her imagination and attention to detail; she will transport you with her amazing gift of storytelling. Everything felt so authentically presented and delivered. I love the thought process this author must have in order to create such a work. I was honestly upset it ended. Looking forward to the next installment.
The characters are well rounded and interesting, the story flows quickly and is very engaging. I really loved this and hope the author produces more stories soon!
Haru and his family make many sacrifices in the hope of weaving a new life in a better place. Enduring the journey to a new world is the first step. Healing the trauma of the past will take longer, but growth and joy also happen along the way.
