Sabrina Jones never expected to be set free from her life as a saloon girl. Thanks to a gift from Rand Ketcham, a notorious bounty hunter, she was able to leave her old life in the saloons. Colorado was where she wanted to go. What to do was still a mystery until she reached Denver and saw an ad in the paper for women to apply as Pinkerton agents. She figured she’d be good. All those years in the saloon had taught her how to read people. That ought to come in handy as a detective.
Tom Wesley liked the free, wild life. He was a Pinkerton agent and good at it. Not many would challenge his gun or fist. Only his father. Preacher Jacob Wesley was a strict man. Tom had left because of his rules. But the old man still had strings attached to him. Growing up under the Word of the Lord to obey your father were glued to Tom’s soul. So far, he hadn’t outrun them, though he’d tried awful hard.
He had until he was thirty. At least that was what his father had told him. Tom tried to duck the words, but they haunted him. Then again, he was only twenty-nine.
When their lives collide, Tom and Sabrina are thrown together in a case that will test them both.

These are pretty easy reads in this series.
The Pinkerton Agency is hiring women agents, but she has to be married to a male experienced agent before she can be considered a full-fledged agent. At the end of her first assignment, if they choose to annul their marriage they can. If a man isn't willing to marry then he is out of a job!
Sabrina is a former saloon girl. She walks into the agency and doesn't really give them much information about herself, and definitely not that tid bit! Her new husband isn't interested in staying married, he's doesn't feel he is worthy of any woman, just as she feels unfit for any man - but the grow closer despite their expectations.
Their job is to help a saloon owner who is being targeted by a Reverend and a group of six women who want the saloon shut down - funny thing is, they are the only saloon being targeted! Hmmm?

A whiskey war?
Sabrina and Tom are both wary, neither fully trusts the other, which makes the partnership ineffective to begin with. But slowly we see trust develop, along with feelings, which they both try to deny. They quickly realise that all is not as it seems with this case and the only way they will find answers is to work together. This is not love at first sight, but a love that develops as they get to know and understand each other.
There are a few annoying typos, such as 'Sabrin' instead of 'Sabrina' and 'new' instead of 'knew' but otherwise a sweet story of self discovery which I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Sweet Historical Romance
Ooh! This was a great set of characters! Sabrina had just the right amount of fear and self-doubt without being unbelievable. And I loved the father in law! The stories in this HUGE series continue to be unique and interesting! I'm amazed how these authors continue to connect these books wih their own series as well! Also that they can be read in any order, except the first and the last!

Listened to this on on audio. The narrator did a great job. This is a great series.

Ex-saloon girl Sabrina is ready for a new life. Tom is a bit of a rogue. Archie is close to firing him for drinking too much and not acting as proper as a Pinkerton agent should. Sabrina's first case trying to stop Prohibitionists from shutting down the town's saloon. Something is up with the Preacher but what is really going on?
I really didn't care for Tom. He had always been pressured by his Preacher Father but it seems he decided to be a wild one instead. He just didn't seem to fit in with the other upstanding Pinkerton agents. His side of the story didn't seem to get resolved, just changed all of a sudden. The mystery was interesting. The romance not so much. It felt rushed and a bit awkward or something. it was a clean read, though.

This is a great book! Both parties have secret pasts that hinder them when making decisions. Sabrina thinks no one will ever love her for herself once they find out what her profession was before applying to Pinkertons. Tom became a rebel to defy his upbringing. Once they are on the job in Tom's old hometown and things start popping will they ger past their pasts to make a future together?

Wonderful
