Hayama-sensei and Terano-sensei are two women who work at the same school...and just started going out. They're a little shy about their budding relationship, but their co-workers--and even their students--are rooting for them as they bumble their way through love!
Things I didn't like about this: - The side character who applies as a teacher at an all-girls school to "cheer on yuri couples" both students and teachers, shipping her coworkers and spying on them - A teacher talking to her high school class about her dating life and practicing confessing her love in front of them - It feels disjointed (probably because it was originally serialized) - There are just so many close ups of makeouts. So many tongues. - There's also a scene where Terano is admonished for always asking before touching or kissing Hayama and told basically that it makes her seem less enthusiastic
I'm disappointed, because I've been really enjoying reading yuri/lesbian manga with adult characters, so I was looking forward to this one.
Okay, I know this is just fluffy fluff fluffiness and there's probably going to be little to no depth or stakes, but I don't care, dammit! The artwork/art style was cute as fuck, Terano and Hayama are precious fucking cinnamon rolls that DEFINIETLY deserve each other, and I loved it! On top of that, everyone is super fucking supportive and nothing makes me love an yuri manga series more like supportive characters. This was a sweet, sexy, and wonderful first volume and I'm looking forward to the next one. If you want a sweet, supportive yuri manga, check this one out. You won't regret it.
Just a bit too sickly sweet and cutesy. The biggest problem is that there just really is no conflict or drama here; it's like watching Care Bears, but like a censored episode, with a softcore porn scene at the end?
I might pick up a second volume to see what happens once the initial lovefest is over.
Our Teachers are Dating! is an unapologetically sickly-sweet yuri manga; a consistent stream of dopamine that consists of tender moments, awkward but endearing comedy, and a few very sexy scenes.
This is a lesbian manga that wastes no time getting the ball rolling. Our protagonists, colleagues at an all-girls school, have already started dating the moment the manga begins.
Hayama is the school’s gym teacher, and Terano is a biology teacher. Their colleagues have been rooting for them since they met, and it has finally happened. Now we just sit and watch as their romance blossoms.
Hayama and Terano are dating! That’s it, that’s the book.
I swear I’m not lying. This book is just two teachers who have started dating and them getting used to one another while an entire school alternates between snooping on them and cheering them on.
It’s absolutely adorable. You couldn’t make anything this sweet and wholesome without strapping a Maine Coon and a Scottish Fold to a Corgi. This is something you read when you don’t want high drama but need to feel a warm hug for your insides.
The art is quite, quite good (oddly I feel the cover is the worst illustration here). Both Hayama and Terano get an extensive array of bashful looks and hilarious SD takes and general fun moments. Hayama is the more serious of the two, compared to the more carefree Terano, but spends a LOT of time being utterly flustered.
One of the things I really love about this book is that, while idealized, it is a story about a relationship and it touches on all aspects therein. And I mean all aspects - this story has no trouble getting very steamy to go along with the sweet. It has a believable progression rather than stretching its moments out over volume after volume.
It’s refreshing to read a book that has the confidence to just be, frankly, adult about its adult relationships. Having it anchored by two people genuinely in love makes a huge difference - nothing in the latter portion of the book feels exploitive at all.
With no question of will they/won’t they, we have things like learning to communicate, seeing the opening idyll that accompanies any relationship, and navigating life with a new partner. I think delightful about sums it up - I’m looking forward to seeing the students integrated further because they’re a lot of fun the one chapter they feature in.
Not much in the way of problems, honestly, except for how wafer thin it is. For my money, no couple in manga has been portrayed as LESS likely to have serious relationship issues than these two. They adore one another too much and they’re believably mature in their discussions of minor problems.
However, that means there’s nothing here except two older working women dating. Make no mistake, I am 100% here for that, but it’s not ratcheting up the tension or anything. I was a little bummed that the original pitch as described in the afterword was repurposed, as I really liked that one too.
Hey, easy 4 stars. I won’t go 5 because it doesn’t quuuuuite hit those heights for me. That said, I can’t think of another series that was this good at showing both the playful and sensuous sides of a relationship as typical things that happen when two people date.
It offers a unique perspective in its genre, it’s genuinely fun, it respects its characters, and it has tons of heart. You can’t ask for better than that.
I am loving the yuri manga coming out about working-age women! My only gripe so far about this series is that Terano-sensei starts out as this mature type, but then she seems to be infantilized a bit as the chapters and story go on. But this is still a really nice yuri manga about two teachers falling in love!
I adored this sapphic manga. It opens right after they’ve just started dating, it was sweet and soft, they had insecurities but immediately communicated them, there was steam, and everyone was cheering for them. One of the teachers was often mistaken as a student/kid, but both are adults.
Pretty much the perfect manga for me. Two adults developing their relationship (with consent! Asking if it's okay to touch!) and they're cute and funny.
I love The main top off though the side characters can get a little irritating at times it’s a very sweet yuri Margaret and I’m definitely interested in reading the rest to see where the relationship goes.
The art is lovely but this story was a little too cutesy for my tastes. I’m never a fan of stories where people around the couple frat their love like a fanfic and say things like “I ship it”, ask really private questions and get really involved in their personal lives. The main characters felt really really young personality wise.
Also, I think it was a newer idea or tell a love story after the couple gets together rather than the journey of them discovering they like each other. However, I just wasn’t all that into this story overall.
Let me first disclose that I'm a bit of a Manga casual, despite the volume I've read. I am not super involved in the community, nor am I on the up and up for all the genre classifications or sub-classifications. That being said, when I saw this title announced I knew I wanted to check it out. I'm not exactly sure what kind of expectations I was walking in with, but I think what I wanted was a light and wholesome yuri tale, of which I am an absolute fan. Throw in the fact that its about adults and not 14 year olds, total bonus! Which is why I was kind of interested to see how the story would be crafted from an adult perspective rather than a high-schoolers.
So, this story is basically a wholesome yuri romance through and through. But I feel like they took what takes normal manga 20 volumes to accomplish and did it all in volume one. Now, when you read the afterword from the author and her intentions were to make a "sexy yuri romance," I think she definitely achieved that goal, especially towards the end of the volume. However, I felt like the character development was lacking a little bit? I don't know, maybe it's just me. It's almost overly wholesome in the sense that everyone supports them and there is basically no scandals. There was almost a scandal in one scene, but it was immediately dismissed. In fact, this happened a couple times. Just when you think there might be drama, nope, no drama. Having no drama is certainly an idyllic relationship, sure, but as for reading? I'm kind of on the fence after reading this.
So, basically, this is just two teachers dating and having a relatively uneventful relationship. Taking the usual steps through all the phases and being nervous on the way to the next step until they sleep together. I'd say it's sort of "slice of life", but it almost jumps around a bit too much, because what feels like them sleeping together after a few days is actually months apart. This makes me think they're aiming for a sex scene per volume. Which definitely makes sense given the authors afterword.
The art is awesome. Both characters are impossibly cute. They actually sort of remind me of an adult rendition of the Kase-san series (which is awesome, for those who have not read that). I think I just wanted to know more about the characters, I guess. One of the typical setups is you get to meet the characters on their own before they get together, so you have a bit of an idea of their personality, but not with this manga. From the first page it is announced the two characters are dating. So the journey to "us" is never really told, it's just them together with everyone at work and all their students supporting them. Which is fine... but, wow, I just don't know where this will go next.
In any event, I'm definitely planning on getting the second volume of these, because I am entirely too curious to see what the author does from here. Basically this is practically the end of a long running series, so what exactly is next? I confess, I am painfully curious.
This is such a cute series and actually, beyond its cuteness, is a satisfying story about two adults in a relationship for the first time, dealing with actual adult relationship problems. There’s real progression in the status of the relationship from first date to first time having sex to dealing with reactions from friends and co-workers.
Any problem these two loveable teachers have is maturely and sensibly solved. There is so little tension, the story is basically a giant marshmallow – soft, fluffy, and so, so sweet. Even the sex scenes are tastefully done, never becoming too exploitative.
The only other manga I’ve read that deals with an adult relationship in an adult way would be How Do We Relationship but that series actually has conflict, drama, and major changes in the status quo. Here, Hayama and Terano have just started dating and we’ll follow them through the ups and downs, mainly ups, of their adorable relationship.
The supporting cast is good fun, especially the students who I hope we’ll see more of in future volumes because it offers some fun angles to explore the relationship going forward.
Sure, there’s no conflict or anything even approaching that, but why is that necessary? It’s just nice to hang out and celebrate these two lovey-dovey teachers enjoying every day they are together. That’s it. Nothing else needed.
It's very cute and fluffy. Basically school romance, but a bit less drama, faster pace, and they're adults.
Didn't expect an nsfw chapter, but the mangaka still managed to make it cute. It's still hot, but more on the cute side.
There's a bit of drama here and there, but mostly minor things that get resolved very quickly. As someone, who's not a fan of drama, I appreciate that. Especially love how there's no homophobia and everyone is supportive and ships them.
Quite a fast relationship development in this volume; excited to see how volume 2 will be filled.
Cute yuri fluff. It's exactly what you expect and it will soothe your soul if you're looking for that syrupy sweet romance kick.
CW: There is nudity and fairly explicit sex showing everything except penetration. The book is rated Teen (13+) but I would not personally recommend it for anyone under the age of 16.
i loved this fluffy little romance 🥹 the art was GORGEOUS and the main couple are so cute, i love to see sapphics in their confession era and i feel like this manga captures that first month of a new wlw relationship so perfectly 🥹❤️
Such a wholesome manga! I love a yuri manga that is unproblematic and just features sweet sapphic love. I loved the development we saw already in this volume and I'm excited to read the other volumes!
Think of something sweet. No, sweeter. A little sweeter. Still sweeter. More sweet. Still sweeter. Little more. Little more sweet than that. Little more. Bit more sweet. Okay, so the romance in this is that sweet. It's a nice little treat but not much depth. But sometimes that's what you want, for sure.
is this what it feels like when homophobia doesn’t exist?! i haven’t read a manga about lesbian this sweet like there is literally no drama or conflicts it’s crazy Ukw I think lesbian stories should be allowed cringey, cliched super sickly and sweet stories without it being exceptional masterpieces
Also ich fands schon mies süß! Aber das hätte besser mit sehr jungen Erwachsenen funktioniert, die verhalten sich echt nicht wie berufstätige Menschen...
This is a very cute Yuri manga were they both have a lot of firsts together. Low angst, and high awkward overthinking, but they do talk it through like adults which I appreciate.
Gotta be honest, not my favorite. I love a good, fluffy Yuri with adult characters, but its spoiled by the characters...not actually acting like adults. Its the kind of blushy-blushy saccharine stuff that I'd expect from 13 year old characters. -shrug- if you want something that is light and has plenty of kissing, this is fine. But dont go in expecting much depth from the characters or plot.
To sum up all my thoughts on this gl manga: Cute. Not in a sarcastic way or anything, it's just literally cute. The characters are cute, the plot is cute and the art is also cute.
I adore how shy Terano Saki and Hayama Asuka are around each other. It's so cute. They're so cute together!
