After alienating her friends, getting benched by her coach, and nearly decapitating a teammate with a bat, college softball player Lexie Rodriguez’s life feels like it can’t get any worse.
Little does she know it’s about to get a whole lot weirder.
When she answers an online help wanted ad, she never expects it to lead to the revelation that magic exists. She certainly never expects to experience it firsthand. But after teaming up with washed-up sorcerer Larry Stuttgart, sword master Dawn Blayde, werebear munitions expert Tank Johnson, and immortal zombie head-in-a-jar Bill, Lexie’s about to discover what life is like on the supernatural side.
She’s about to join THE NYTE PATROL.

This is the first novel of the snarky urban fantasy series, the Nyte Patrol. Look for book two, Nyte Terrors, coming soon!
Hi! I'm mystery, fantasy, and science fiction author Alex P. Berg. Be sure to check out my bestselling Daggers & Steele series, a fun, fast-paced fantasy/noir mystery hybrid! I've also written urban fantasy, epic sci-fi, and more.
My review rating system is as follows: 5 = Amazing, I absolutely loved it! (Fantastic!) 4 = A very good book, although I had a few quibbles with it. (Great!) 3 = A book I liked, but either it had a few more serious problems or I didn't connect well with it. (Good!) 2 = I had major issues with this book. (Not good...) 1 = I hated or DNF'ed this book. (Real bad!)
The Nyte Patrol The Nyte Patrol, Book 1 By: Alex P. Berg Narrated by: Carrie Burgess I liked most of these characters but they weren't fleshed out enough to me. Some of the characters were great. Some were weak. Loved the plot and paranormal activity, fantasy, and creatures. I have read some of this author's books and loved it. The narrator was not good at all! Anyone can read a book out loud. It takes talent to perform the book!
The Nyte Patrol is a madcap group of misfits. They are definitely a force to be reckoned with, sort of! This is a world of magic, vampires, wizards, were creatures, the Fae and more. Join Larry, Lexie and rest of the gang in this world. You won't ever be bored. And yes, leprechauns are real. I highly recommend this book.
I love the humour, and the characters are very interesting, but I really hope to see more development, especially of Dawn, to bring it up to Dagger and Steele level. A fun read, and I look forward to the sequel
I loved the concept of this marvelously ridiculous romp. Larry reminded me of a bumbling Dr. Who. I liked that there was a lot of good natured poking fun at paranormal romance.
I do wish there had been a little more character development, particularly of Lexi. She kind of seems along for the ride in a lot of it, which she is (or rather providing the ride) but I would have liked to have seen her as a more well rounded person with more something...Maybe snark or internal dialogue or more to her relationship with her friends. There was a lot to her but it felt like a sketch of someone going through a rough time and dealing with her blowup and shame than fully flushing that out.
This is the first book I have read of this author, it was the cover and title that caught my attention. I am so glad I found it! It is definitely one of my favourites I have read this year and good for a chuckle as it was my sense of humour. It is good fun and I love the characters. Lexie is very relatable when stuck with people doing weird and wonderful things. Tank is my favourite character at the moment. Every time I hear "For Sparta" I will be thinking of this book! Good plot, great pace and great characters. I bought this as a spur of the moment kindle buy but I would happily buy a physical copy of this and add to my collection. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series!
And I love it. I don't want to go too much into why, because that would be spoilers. Buying the next book right now. It's not the most serious book ever, in fact it's on the fluffy side, but if you need a book to give you a few good laughs and help you relax, this is the one.
Totally ridiculous, goofball fun. I thought it really hit its stride in the second half of the book with some great character moments and funny lines. Besides: any book that makes multiple Princess Bride references gets brownie points in my book.
The cast of characters is a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll get to know more about them as the series goes on. They do manage to get themselves into a LOT of trouble!
What a hilarious, fun filled book! This was a great change from the typical paranormal book. I was laughing and trying to envision the escapades of this rag-tag group of people. The way Larry just pulled spells from nowhere was a crack up! My favorite is Lexie because she just handles her introduction into a new world much better than her personal life. I found myself thinking....she can not find a way to go and talk to her teammates and coach but dealing with a werebear, zombies, magic, vampires, etc. is perfectly plausible? I love this book and cannot wait to read the next one. Nyte Terrors should be great!
Alex Berg is one of my favorite authors. With that sad, this story wasn’t one of my favorites. It was well written, usually humorous, and I liked Lexie and most of the main characters. But Larry’s actions and personality just turned me off. YMMV.
