Give up the Ghost is a page turner. This fifth book in the Viola Valentine series is the best yet in my opinion. Viola finds her self having to deal with multiple problems, an demon for the last book is out to get her, she is now living in a town where locals shun her, and she is pregnant and has to temporarily have to stop travel writing. How she deals with these issues with help from her angelic husband, her witch neighbor, various family members, an FBI agent she is not sure is human, and best of all her physic cat, Stinky, showcases problems women have faced over the years. Treated as helpless creatures, treated as not smart enough to take care of business, and worst treated as objects to abuse by some men, are all dealt with in this book. Viola has to make some hard choices. Yet, throughout it remains a humorous, fun read. Keep it up Cherie!

Life presents

Read for yourself. We all need prospective in life especially when doubts find their way into our thoughts about the choices we make. This is the team of this book. The plot maybe the mystery but clearly the book makes you think about your own challenges in life.

I would give this entry in the Viola Valentine series 5 stars, but her fear and self pity over the first 90% of the book was tiresome for me. I was also hoping Dewayne was gone for good, but Ms Claire left the door ajar so who knows.

I'm in love with Viola 'n her cat Stinky with their ghostly mysterious adventures, often in places that I know of or have been to. This 5th book is the same for me as the previous ones, I get going in them 'n I can't stop - I lose sleep 'n I have to know what's going to happen. That feeling for me is what I think of as a "good book" 'n following that a "good storyteller" too?! There is a new place in this book 'n new folks in the town 'n some of the same "magic activities" going on, but here finally in this book Viola gets to visit with her dead daughter (I won't say how as that would be a spoiler 'n right now am not sure if even saying that much is some kind of spoiler.) It's been a long time coming 'n most I would guess have thought surely she'll find a way, so will be happy to hear then read that it's happened in this book finally. So satisfying in so many ways, even the nods to "Lord of the Rings" 'n one character I get a "treebeard" feeling for (I could be totally wrong, but there's a "tree spirit" in them whatever they've been created for?!) I just love all this books bits or the "pregnant moments" as well, hah?! Thanks so much Miss Cherie for another one 'n I will now delightfully await the next book!! ox
