Robbie Fowler: My Life In Football: Goals, Glory & The Lessons I've Learnt

Rate this book
Robbie's My Life In Football harks back to a simpler time when fans and players shared the same story, and when the local boy really could dream of scoring a hat-trick for his home club when Saturday came. To Liverpool fans, Robbie Fowler was 'God'. He is the sixth-highest goal scorer in the history of the Premier League and notched 183 goals for Liverpool alone. But before all of that, he was a Liverpool lad who loved the game, the Kop and everything that came with it. My Life In Football is the story of a boy who became a legend.

A really good account of his career from Liverpool and England Centre forward, Robbie Fowler. Here, he describes his love of football, scoring goals, his struggles with injuries, and loss of form and also the hard work and determination required to reach the top of the game.
It's a really good book to read, obviously, for a liverpool fan, but for people like myself who are big football fans in general

Fun to read. Represents the ups and downs of Robbie "God" Fowler the teenage wonderkid who almost reached the top, ruined by injury. But two weeks from now, I will only remember the main message from a God walking on a bar "just don't go there".

Having read his previous autobiography near the end of his playing days, I was keen to see what was different. It is updated to include playing spells in Cardiff, Australia and Thailand, his ambassador role at Liverpool and his foray into management.
There are updates on the changing attitudes of the game - he explains his relationship with Phil Thomson better and also talks of his struggle, particularly at Manchester City.

A brilliant footballer in his teens who unfortunately declined quite precipitously after a series of injuries but got a fairy tale ending on his second homecoming to Liverpool in the twilight of his career. This book captures the excitement of those early days when he seemed destined to be the greatest Liverpool footballer to the bittersweet struggles in the 2nd half of his career. Brought back lots of great memories of following Liverpool in the 90s.

Yet another teen idol who I love a little less after reading their autobiography.

Legend

Great read for any football supporter. Even if don't support Liverpool (which you would be mad no too). Throughly enjoyable read.

Good balance of humour, career highs and a closer look at the lows. Solid read.

Well written and witty account of God's career. A must for all Reds - but more than enough of interest for all football fans

The man they called god.
I love this Fowler/Owen era of Liverpool striker, just before my time so vague memories of it, it’s great to read and learn about it.
Decent book.
