He has long been worried that he might be. Lately he’s been having the sense that the only thing keeping him from that path is his wife, Selena, who understands the mind of serial killers rather better than the general public.
So when a rash of murders disturbs the sleepy town of Almond Park, California, and Selena is asked to help with the investigation, Adam is not sure he won’t be found out.
If he is, he’ll lose everything that truly matters to him.
Close to Home is Nolon King’s new book, an intense psychological thriller. Pick up your copy today!
Nolon King writes smart psychological thrillers designed to leave you on the edge of your seat. His stories are dark, twisty, and often decidedly close to home.
He’s not afraid to explore the darker side of human nature through stories featuring families torn apart by secrets and lies. If you enjoy reading authors like Darcey Bell and Harlan Coban, movies like A Simple Favor and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, or shows like Ozark and Dead to Me, you’ll love Nolon King.
When not writing you will find Nolon drinking black coffee and observing humans in their natural habitats.
If you like profanity, especially sloshing in the mire with "f" this and that, this might be your kind of book. I think there is better literature elsewhere. I won't bother any more with this author.
Close to Home is a dark book filled with sex, extreme language, and horror. It is well written with not a lot of grammatical errors. I would recommend it to an adult audience.
This book took me completely by surprise. I never dreamed I’d actually finish it, simply because of the foul language that was especially strong throughout the book. It actually hurt me to read the “F” word so much, but I was intrigued by the characters and story line. It kept me guessing all the way through to the end, and I’m so glad I powered through! I continuously thought about the story while not reading it, trying to figure out “who the killer was”. It was fascinating and suspenseful all the way through. I can’t wait to read more books from this author!!!!
2.5 stars as I was not a fan of this book for most of the book. I detested the two main characters and thought there behavior was selfish, narcissistic and reprehensible. Magically, they redeemed themselves at the end and even more unbelievably their supremely dysfunctional family, including two almost adult twin boys, suddenly became a loving family with great career opportunities ahead. Really?

A very different mystery thriller to what I normally read. The main focus is on a family of four who live in a town on edge, as a killer is at large. Selena who specialises in serial killer profiles for her television interviews, has her husband Adam as a patient. Adam has some very dark fantasies! A family that is unraveling. The main characters are Selena, Adam, their twin teenager boys and their friends.
This was a very interesting story. Serial killer expert with twin teenagers, marital trouble and a selfish self centered woman. Mix in a serial killer close to home and you have a very interesting book! The book starts slow and drops plenty of clues. The plot is very original. It was an interesting read. Characters were very typical in their stereotypical roles. I still would recommend the book over all.
For readers like myself who love guessing who the killer is, this book is for you. I would think this little residential community would be more concerned if someone was killing their neighbors.
This was not one of my favorite books. It was well written but the plot was not well developed. A serial killer wife and a sadistic thinking husband. The plot focuses more on the kids lives than the murders.
I couldn't get into it. I read 10% of the book but became bored with the kids from the hood discussing the fire. After several chapters a book should draw you into the story. This one failed to do so.
I found this story hard to follow in the beginning. I think it focused on Selena too much. It was really confusing about Sam. The only good thing was the ending when Sam became the normal successful person.
I do not normally read psychological thrillers, but this is a good one to read with lots of twists and turns. I will definitely read more from this author.
Took some reading. Didn’t captivate me. Ending good but the plot to get there wishy washy. Won’t be jumping straight into the next one as I would normally
