A fugitive both in real life and the game world of Nova Online, his only hope is to follow the trail of virtual breadcrumbs left behind by Bernstein, the man whose murder Kaiden was framed and jailed for. The data Bernstein gathered may be the only way to expose the corruption of the Party and finally clear his name.
With a new ship and crew of their own, Kaiden, Titus and Zelda will travel to the furthest reaches of Nova Online and push their classes to the limit to defeat threats intended for players much higher level than them. Humanoid insects, veteran gamers, dark turen and even the Warden Corps stand in their way.
Alex Knight is filling good books with bad jokes one sentence at a time.
As an author his work includes The Far Wild🦖, Servant of Rage🔥, the Nova Online Trilogy👾, and more.
As an aspiring twin he’s not making much progress, but remains determined.
Alex grew up a sunbaked Floridian. In the veritable far wild that was Florida, he spent his days in the prairies, swamps, and springs of the state’s interior.
Since those simple, sweaty days Alex has lived in many places around the world, including many of the on’s—London, Boston, and (currently) Houston.
In the past Alex has worked as everything from a dishwasher to a communications coordinator. After deciding he didn’t like stability or predictable paychecks he made the jump to become a freelance writer. That soon turned into ghostwriting romance novellas, then ghostwriting science fiction novels. After some time, he was able to excise the ghost from ghostwriting and write his own books.
When Alex isn’t writing, he’s likely lost in a wetland, falling down in his novice hockey league, or playing competitive pinball. Oh, and gaming. Lots of gaming.
A fun and fast-paced LitRPG sequel full of action, excitement, humour, and Starship Troopers-esque alien adversaries. A fine addition to the Nova Online universe!
I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
I remember liking the first book and looking forward to book two. For some reason, about 40% of the way into this one, I just stopped caring about this story. I burned through over a dozen books on Kindle Unlimited before I forced myself to get back to this one, the oldest borrowed book in my subscription. It was a chore to get through, but I forced myself to finish.
I don’t think it was a bad book. I think I just prefer my litrpg/gamelit books to be more about people who find themselves in a game world, than people who play a game part of the time and live their normal lives the rest of the time. The one big exception for me being the stork tower series, where the MC’s real life is also affected by the changes she goes through in the games she plays.
This book is more like “We’ve got to play this game so that we can fight ‘the man.’” Just not for me.
This thrilling LitRpg book picks up were the previous part left off. Our heroic trio try to unlock the Bernstein cypher while staying out of the clutches of the party both in game and out.
The story is well thought out, even better than the previous book, with the adventure continuing both in game and out. The game mechanics are well explained and add a realistic feel to the story. All in all this is a most enjoyable read and is highly recommended.
Kaiden, Titus and Zelda continue their adventures, both Online and IRL. IRL, in particular, has plenty of nasty shocks in store as the true nature of both the Rebellion and the Party is brought to light. With shock moves from allies and unexpected moves from enemies, the future is nothing if not unpredictable.
About time! Almost thought this 2nd book wasnt going to happen. Stsrts of where the first one ends with them trying to find the info needed to bring thhe Party down. Similar in thene to the Hunger Games!
Everything that made the first book great has been amplified in this one. Clear plot lines, with some awesome little twists and turns. Great mechanics that really let you imagine the game. Get this book, you won’t regret it
Highly recommend this book. It is a well written book that leaves you wanting more. Normally by the 3rd book of a series I need to switch to a different series. Not this one. Cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Very fun second entry in the series. Much longer than the first, with a bit more in the world outside the game this time, but it flew by and I had a great time reading and listening.
I'm a scifi fan, so this book appeals to me in many ways a standard LitRPG book doesn't. I liked this story, and wouldn't mind seeing more in this universe.
I picked up this trilogy’s audiobook, again, from 2023 & am trying to finish it this time! My problem I’ve decided is that I’m partially biased by reading really well constructed LitRPG series since I discovered the sub genre a few years ago, plus with SAG-AFTRA Narrators like Travis Baldree, etc.
I got through the first book ok (3 stars), then got bogged down during the second book. Now that I’ve finally finished it, I realized my frequent cringing while listening is due to the narration, not the plot, characters, etc.
It’s not a great author/plot fit for me, & I wish I’d spent my credit elsewhere; but it’s something ‘other’ that triggers me to take multiple years to read a simple trilogy while I’ve read 300+ books in the same timeframe.
Alex Knight, I hope you keep writing so I can sample some of your other writings.
Levelling up as quickly as they can whilst trying to solve the clues to the cipher gives loads of action, cool abilities and a chance to enjoy our characters more. The series develops well and the happenings outside the Nova Online also helps keep us interested.
I liked the week waiting period if you were killed in game, that would keep people from getting over powered. I want to know what is going to happen with Thorne. I will have to keep going to find out.
