JUGGERNAUT: a massive unstoppable force, campaign, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path.

Kimball Hayden: JUGGERNAUT

In Virginia, a Blacksite facility is assaulted with military sophistication to free a homegrown terrorist who once attempted to assassinate FBI Specialist Shari Cohen. Within days, two of America’s most iconic symbols of freedom are razed. The stock markets begin to tumble, financial institutes are on the verge of declaring a ‘bank holiday,’ and the American psyche hasn’t been this fragile since 9/11.

In Rome, Kimball Hayden’s demons are at their worst, the man becoming a shell of his former self. But when he learns that Shari Cohen’s assassin is on the loose, he embarks on a trip of rediscovery that unites him with the woman he loves.

When it’s discovered that the assassin is plotting Operation Herod—a mission so terrible it could cripple the United States—the man behind the undertaking, Mohammad Allawi, has also set his sights on Shari Cohen with plans to finish what he started years ago, by seeing her dead.

For Mohammad Allawi to get to her, however, his highly trained unit must fight their way through the Vatican Knights most esteemed juggernaut known as Kimball Hayden.

As Kimball and Shari form a bond to hunt down her aggressor who keeps America on the brink, they also begin to discover each other. But as Allawi’s troops draw closer to Shari Cohen, the priest who is not a priest must once again work in the Dark to serve the Light, so that the woman he loves is protected at all costs, even if the cost is his own life.

In a battle with everything at stake—love, life, future—will Kimball Hayden finally find peace against such overwhelming odds? Or will this be his final mission as a Vatican Knight?

It is one man against the well funded and organized terrorist group. And he can do more than any government agency. If you can go along with that then the action will payoff for you. How many times has Kimball given his collar back to the Pope? He is like a 3 year old who says he is running away from home. Despite all this, I am vested, and I loved the ending.

Vatican Knight to the rescue

Once again against all odds Kimball Hayden rights the wrongs of evil men. But what is that last decision mentioned?

Can Kimball Hayden continue as a Vatican Knight?

The Vatican Knights are in my top 5 for series. Kimball Hayden is tortured by his past and still struggles with the Light and Dark. He must once again try to save Shari and stop the madman Mohammad from destroying the spirit of the US. I recommend this series to anyone who likes action pack, fast paced books. I

Yes, another. This time our hero saves again the life of the woman he loves while defeating terrorists. Unfortaunly, perhaps at the cost of his own life. We will see about this in the next novel.

Quite amazing that this is book 17 of the Vatican Knights series and Rick Jones has maintained such a high standard of writing and story throughout.

Juggernaut sees our hero, Kimball Hayden, finally hit rock bottom. Convinced he’s unable to find atonement for his previous sins, he leaves the Vatican Knights for good.

Or does he..?

In America, a ghost from Kimball’s past resurfaces to wreak havoc on a number of high profile targets. When he realises that an attack is imminent against the one remaining ray of light in his life, Kimball doesn’t hesitate to run headfirst into danger.

Brutal action mixed with political intrigue make this, again, another thrilling read. The complexity of Kimball’s character is as fascinating as ever and it’s testament to Rick’s writing that, although repeating much of his psychological struggle throughout the series, it never becomes boring or stale.

If it really is the end for the Vatican Knights, Juggernaut is a beautiful conclusion. Poignant, heartwarming and fitting.

Kimball!

Yes, I am hopelessly addicted to the Vatican Knights and feel a kinship with Kimball Hayden. Fictional character though he may be, I find myself praying for him and at times sympathizing with his anguish. Yes, the editing could be a bit better, and no, it’s not going to win any awards but I’m a fan. No spoilers, but I think I know Kimball well enough to know what choice he makes.

Action packed with non-stop thrills as Kimball is back. Shari is threatened by the escaped mad-man who killed her family! Such a good read, I just finished at 0430! I could not put it down and then the ending left me hanging!
