It Had to Be You
Austin Evans is a playboy, a flirt and a charmer. He’s dated half the female population of Fate, Texas and figures he’ll get around to the other half before he ever decides to settle down. Brilliant, Beautiful, & Bewitching
Austin has stolen my heart! He's the bad boy with a heart of gold we all love to read about. Bryant has drawn him up so perfectly, I can even hear his soft Texas drawl in my head when I read his dialogue.
On the surface, Victoria is the country club princess and Austin is the charming blue collar rascal from the wrong side of the tracks who has done a turn around the dance floor with every single girl in town. As Fate - the town or the mysterious force - brings them together, they each begin to reveal their layers and it makes for such a compelling story.
Bryant is my go-to author for emotion-packed stories about love in a small town. Her books are romantic, amusing, and steamy. And while my mind always enjoys the escape she provides, my heart is a little fuller too each time because of how she weaves in important themes like family and loyalty and forgiveness. Bryant's work makes me feel a little better about being a human for having such life-changing capabilities.

Love, love, love this book!! Victoria is a stubborn, stuck up woman who doesn't know what she wants. Austin is a fun loving playboy who knows exactly what he wants. Join Victoria and Austin in a beautiful love story that keeps you thoroughly entertained and hits you right in the feels! Ps it's also got a few steamy scenes

Another great read, with lots of chemistry and hotness. This is a well written story and hooked me from the start.This is a quick hot read, with a interesting plot and fantastic characters, great emotion and Loads of steam!

4.5 Stars of Small Town Goodness!
This is my first read from this author, in an effort to add different sub-genres to my 2019 "Read" list aside from my darker favs. Reading the blurb I expected another feel good romance. Small town, accidental pregnancy, the high society girl fighting her feelings for the hottie from the wrong side of the tracks......feel good is exactly what I got. What was unexpected was just how well written this was and the author's ability to create characters that I not only connected with, but wanted to know even more about. She created a fictional town filled with characters that all have great stories to tell, a place that felt like it could be real with characters that could be your friends. The authenticity of it all really stood out in a "literary world" where the characters are often untouchable. I am a fan!
“Every time you refuse me or push me away, every time you say you’re not mine…” Austin tugged her hair just hard enough to tilt her head back and bring their mouths closer, “I’m going to prove you wrong.” She licked her lips nervously, “H… How?” A small smile tipped one corner of his mouth up before he brushed their lips together, “I have a feeling you’re going to find out, again, and again, and again.”
Told in dual POV, this small town accidental pregnancy romance is part of the Fate, Texas "series"......a collection of interconnected standalones that feature the town of Fate and its residents. I haven't read any other books from her, yet it was easy to pick up on who was who and how they fit (I cannot wait to get my hands on the West Brothers series lol). It features no dark elements but could be potentially triggering for those sensitive to pregnancy complications/risks. It does have a guaranteed HEA.

Victoria Sands has always down everything she could to live up to her last name and make her parents proud. She graduated from med school and joined her family's practice, went on dates with the men her parents suggested, and always kept her reputation squeaky clean. That is until one pregnancy test changes everything. Positive....she is pregnant with the town's gorgeous playboy's baby. The carefree hottie who makes her feel things no other man has, but also the man that she knows can't give her the HEA she has planned for herself. He isn't the settling down type, he definitely isn't husband material. But that doesn't stop her stupid heart from beating faster at the possibility that he could be......but first she to break the news to him.

Overall, I couldn't get enough of these two. I thought I wouldn't like Victoria, that she would be a stuck up witch who thought Austin was too low on the social scale to give him a fair shot. Instead, I found a heroine that was just terrified of giving someone the power to destroy her heart. In Austin, I found the perfect specimen of a man..... seriously why can't he be real? These two together created a type of slow burning romance that keeps you turning page after page desperate for more. Its got just enough angst, just enough explosive chemistry, and just enough heartache to create a book worthy of my 4.5 stars.

If you love a good romance with red hot sexual chemistry, give this one a go. I guarantee you it will be a great read for you too!

This is a pure romance book about two people from different sides of the track so to speak falling for each other, than realizing they are in love. Austin is the sex on legs mechanic who can have any woman he wants by just walking through the doors. Victoria is the prim and proper physician who grew up with country club memberships and a ivy league education. They live in a small town where everyone knows everyone's business and gossip is the favorite pastime. After a one night stand that turns into multiple nights of passion they now have an unexpected situation arise. Now they are figuring out what the next path should be.
I read this book as an ARC for an honest review, I did enjoy it, it is a simple romance with a few unexpected hills and a HEA ending. This story is told from both main characters POV and have some fun supporting characters thrown in for the group dynamics. I enjoyed the fun banter between Austin and Vicky and I enjoyed how he would become all alpha male with her, and she would become a wild child with him. This is a true story about how two different people from two different worlds can share a life and the worlds that come with it, as long as they have one ingredient, LOVE!

Austin Evans is the town playboy. He doesn't believe in anything more than a one night stand. He doesn't want commitment or a forever kind of relationship. He finds one night with Victoria isn't enough. She intrudes and challenges him, and he loves it.
Victoria Sands is the town princess. She was raised to be prim and proper. She's followed in the family business and become a doctor to join the family practice. She turns to Austin for a hot night of passion. It's not supposed to continue past that. She should stop wanting him, but she can't.
Austin was a great main character. He lived the way he did because of his past. Once he knew what he wanted though, he would do anything to get it. He was strong and sensitive at the same time. They say opposites attract but these opposites set the pages on fire.
Victoria knew Austin wasn't right for her. While their chemistry was off the charts, he wasn't high class. Could she really make a life with a mechanic? There were certain things expected of her as a Sands, like marrying someone more like herself. Even though she's unsure, she is strong enough to fight for what she wants. They're both protective of each other and their relationship. When tragedy strikes, will what they have be enough to get them through? This was my first book by Jess and I loved it. I'll definitely be reading more!

I have never read anything from this author, but know I want to read it all. I really love the relationship that happens between the H/h. It might have not started out hearts and kisses, but ends so sweet. I love Austin. He was so caring and sweet toward Victoria. Victoria grew on me. I love how her character develops throughout the book. I guess it's true every girl has insecure regardless of where you come from. The romance between the H/h started slow but grew into something so beautiful. I love the supporting characters too. Now I want to read all their books that came before and the future books because I'm as nosy and as invested as the town of Fate is with these people.

All I can say is that it was a delightful, heartfelt great read. Austin, the confirmed playboy of the small town and Victoria, the prissy but beautiful doctor that does everything by the book. One night changes it all and this story brings the two together and tells it from both perspectives. I loved the banter and connection in the book as well as the supporting friends and family. It felt like true life. Great read and well worth a read. Well done. Given this book as an ARC for an honest review via ATPBB Reviewers.

Talk about a wild ride, this book was so emotional I had to put the book down a couple time!! Victoria and Austin have known each other for awhile, but he was the playboy of Fate Texas, Victoria was Miss prim and proper!

My first book by Ms. Bryant and it was fun and romantic story. Fate is a small town where everyone knew your business. Austin is the town’s charming playboy and Victoria is the prim and proper princess. They don’t do relationships. I got pulled into the story right away. The characters were fun and the story delightful, sexy and sweet.

I loved the give and take between stubborn Victoria and playful Austin and I think it's what made them work. The two have no business being together and yet they both know that's exactly what they want. It's sweet and entertaining with just enough steam and of course the must have HEA!

Austin is the typical bad boy, and Victoria is the princess. These two are total opposites, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster journey, as well as being humorous, entertaining and steamy. I recommend for all.

Oh this was such a sweet book. I laughed and I cried and I surely loved the whole story. It was wonderful to read a story about two people who had flaming hot chemistry together, having nothing in common, from the “wrong” sides of town, coming together and getting to understand each other.
I loved reading about Victoria, relying on her brain and how Austin managed to let her heart reign and Austin, having the image of the playboy and charmer, is actually a very sweet, loving and protective man. Reliving this romance, a happy sigh escapes me.

I loved how Austin wouldn't let Victoria push him away. He knew he didn't fit into her world, but he wouldn't let that stop him from loving her. He made a promise to make her fall in love with him.
Victoria definitely gave Austin a hard time. He was only supposed to scratch an itch. Sometimes, things don't go according to plan.

Let me start off by saying how much I loved everything about this book. The characters are incredible and I fell in love with Austin and Victoria. Their relationship in the beginning was just two people casually meeting up until one day things changed. Victoria comes from a family of doctors and has a life of privilege and Austin, the town mechanic, is not exactly who her parents expected her to end up with. But Austin and Vicky have something special, they both just don’t know it yet.
The story shows how two people from different sides of life, try to make it work. Austin wants to do right by Victoria and will do anything to prove himself to her. Victoria grew up in the eye of the town of Fate and doesn’t like to draw attention, but when it comes to Austin, she just knows there is something between them and she wants him in her life.
This story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and to me, that shows how exceptional this book is. I loved how Austin is so kind and loving and Victoria comes to realize how much better her life is with Austin in it. I highly recommend this book as you will love it just as much as I do!

This book was amazing!!! I have never read a first chapter that hooked me on two characters as much as the first chapter hooked me on Victoria and Austin. I knew Immediately that I was going to fall in love with these two and the rest of their story did not disappoint. I loved how open and honest Victoria and Austin were with each other and how it helped them fall more and more in love with each other.
The pregnancy story line added so much to this story and I loved how Jess Bryant was able to connect Victoria's pregnancy with other character's stories from this series other novels!!
I have been reading Jess Bryant's books for a while but I think this is my all time favorite book of hers!!

I gave a new author for me a chance and I was not disappointed!
Austin and Victoria didn't stand a chance but fate intervened. It gave them just a chance to go after what always knew they always wanted but were to scared to go after. I love a man who knows what he wants and doesn't let anything stand in his way, and once Austin figured that out, he was a man on a mission to prove to Victoria he is exactly what she needs.

What do you get when the goody-goody doctor/town princess and the town playboy have a one night stand? What happens when it turns into more ?
You get this little gem here! It's lighthearted but emotional and funny all at the same time. I am a dark romance reader and from time to time I need a lighter read to cleanse my pallet. Almost anything Jess Bryant writes is a good go to for that.
I loved the banter between these two and by the end I even loved Austin. All of the Fate, Texas books have been great so far!

I know I'm late to the game on this one but despite that the story was amazing! Austin and victoria's story was so fun to read from start to finish and I can't wait to dive deeper into this series and see where Fate, Texas takes me.

It Had To Be You is the first book written by Jess Bryant and it is quite engaging and was well written. It is the story of Austin and Victoria. This is an opposites attract story with the ubiquitous bad boy playboy and the moneyed good girl. But she still wants to play dirty and they are drawn to each other. When that attraction has an unexpected consequence the question becomes can their attraction to each other become something real where they meet in the middle or will they each stay in opposite lanes?

This well-written book is about a couple who don't have much of a chance of succeeding together. She is spoiled and not very likable at first and he is down to earth playboy who did not know he wanted love. These characters are well developed and they grow and expand as this story unfold and you hope for their success. This is a very nice story and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

A small town, wrong side of the track, opposites attract story with all the feels that pulls the reader in. Well written and Austin and Victoria are strong and well developed characters. Warning once you start reading you may not want to stop so it can be a quick read in that case.

This is everything I needed but didn't know it. The story is not too long, which I love. Austin is just the right type of book boyfriend I needed too. He is from the "wrong" side of the tracks but with the perfect heart. He is different than Victoria but they mesh so well it's hard to imagine they are not meant for each other. The story is fun and sexy and so full of heart.
