Goldilocks has gotten a bit off track. I found her in my room, my bathroom and my bathtub to be precise.

Swank is Maya's more lighthearted series featuring male best friends who meet their matches and The Sweetest Thing was Hunter's story.
After an ugly breakup, Sabrina is just looking to pick her pieces back up. A generous offer of temporary room is something that she can't pass up. But what she didn't expect is the insomniac, cranky roommate that also happens to live there.
Hunter is a man with a tortured past who is desperate to hang on to his secrets. And a woman invading his personal space was not on his agenda. Especially a woman that temps him beyond reason. Theirs is a delicious slow burn full of push and pull and the story a lighthearted contemporary romance. What kept this being a higher rating for me was the same issue I had with The Proposal; it felt too drawn out. I found myself skimming a good chunk of it. DOn't get me wrong, it was sweet and cute, but also felt unnecessary. It could have easily have shaved off 5-7 chapters with the story losing nothing in the process. As it was, I found myself growing bored at the pacing.
I loved Sabrina's character. She was so incredibly endearing with her insecurities and the way she fought through Hunter's stubbornness with his brother that you can't help but love her. Hunter was a little more hard to love. His push and pull, hot and cold personality made me want to shake him. And his refusal of his brother made me want to strangle him. While I understood his struggles, it just didn't feel dire enough to warrant his reaction to everything.
That being said, I still enjoyed it. It was cute, fun, and satisfying. It hit the spot just right for a good Maya Hughes fix that I needed after her Falling trilogy. And the cross over into that trilogy with the intro to the couple of the next SWANK book? NEED! I can't wait for Maddy's story.
If you're looking for a lighthearted and steamy romance, this will hit the spot nicely.

Trigger Warning: fat shaming.
The Sweetest Thing is the second installment in the SWANK series by Maya Hughes, and follows Hunter, another member of this event team, and Sabrina, his forced new roommate. A fun and sweet rom-com featuring the grumpy-sunshine trope!
Sabrina is trying to figure out what to do with her life after breaking up with her boyfriend, and in the meantime she needs a new place to live NOW. Thank goodness she gets to be able to live for a while in an amazing penthouse, but guess what? the grumpy, secretive man who lives there isn't so happy to share his safe space, but Sabrina isn't willing to pass up this opportunity, and Hunter doesn't want to piss off her grandmother, so they're just gonna have to learn how to live with each other.
Both of these characters were briefly introduced in the first book, The Proposal, but we didn't know much about them. Now we can see how they both have diametrically opposite personalities, but that doesn't stop them from being attracted to each other, even when on a good day they can't stand each other. But little by little, they unveil new layers on each other, getting to know each other a little more and moving into a strange kind of friendship while the attraction is still there, but Hunter must be one of the most stubborn characters, not ready to let Sabrina into his life so easily, resisting this attraction as long as possible.
I was expecting a fun and light rom-com, but just like the first book this one had a little emotional twist. I was automatically attracted to Sabrina since she was a happy, sunny and fun character, but underneath all that sassiness, there were insecurities that she tried to hide and forget and that got to me. And then there was Hunter, his family history and his traumas. To be honest, I didn't really like the way this aspect played out, many times I didn't share the way Hunter acted, but in the end the relationship between him and his brother made me feel a lot of things, initially anger and angst, but a bit of happiness too at the end.
As always, Maya Hughes introduces us to an amazing group of friends and I can't wait for their books too, especially Everet story and how it intertwines with one of my favorite Maya works as is the Falling Trilogy so i hope i can catch some baykeyton crumbs too!

Enjoyable read overall, but wasn't my favorite. I like that it was a low angsty story, but at the same time, it did start to drag a bit because there was a lot of useless conversations and scenes that didn't really do anything to add to the story. I am excited to read about more side characters though, especially Maddy and Everest's story, but I really hope cheating had nothing to do with it, and PLEASE make them celibate at least, author😭🤞. And Jameson's is another one I'm interested in, and i really hope it's a single mom book, because he would be SO cute as a dad. Anyways, I'm hoping for the best in the next books because I'm pretty excited to read them, even though this couple wasn't necessarily my favorite.

The Sweetest Thing is the second book in the SWANK series and follows Sabrina and Hunter who were briefly introduced in the previous book. I completely fell in love with these two and their crazy chemistry, and they are definitely among my favorite Maya Hughes couples!!
After breaking up with her boyfriend, Sabrina has no choice but to accept an acquaintance's offer to take a room in her penthouse, which she will share with her grandson Hunter until she can get back on track. Hunter doesn't like sharing his personal space and isn't thrilled with his new roommate invading his home and mind. Sabrina and Hunter only have to put up with each other for a few months, and he is determined not to get close to her in any way.
While The Proposal was a funny and adorable rom-com, Sabrina and Hunter's story had more of an emotional side that I wasn't expecting but loved so much. From the very first pages, I got attached to them and their grumpy/sunshine roommate dynamic. The angst and chemistry between Sabrina and Hunter were to die for, and they are one of my favorite couples that Maya Hughes has written. They made me go through all the emotions, and that's everything I like about a book! The secondary characters and friendships also make this story and the series as a whole very entertaining. Maya Hughes never disappoints!
Hunter, along with Everest, is the one that caught my attention the most, so I was eager to learn more about his character and personality in this book. He surprised me SO MUCH, and his backstory was heartbreaking. He seemed like a fun, carefree guy, so I never thought he would hide so much vulnerability about his past. This aspect is also why I liked this book, as these kinds of characters are always my favorite.
Sabrina was a wonderful character, and I liked how sweet but fierce, stubborn, and determined she was. Hunter made it clear that he didn't like her invading his space, and she didn't hesitate to fight back with snarky comebacks. It was also very interesting to get more insight into her professional career and how she fought to make her dreams come true. Like Hunter, I loved her character a lot and connected with her right away.
Sabrina and Hunter's chemistry was off the charts, and their moments together were my favorite parts of the book. Whether it's in the beginning of their relationship, which was more awkward and funny because Hunter misunderstood Sabrina's job, or during the heartbreaking moments, you never doubt their feelings and desire for each other. I loved following the slow development of their relationship, and they captivated me from beginning to end!
The rest of the SWANK guys also made several appearances, and it was great to see more of their friendship and support for each other. I can't wait for the others to get their books, especially Everest with Maddy, who I have been obsessed with since I read The Proposal. The friendship between Sabrina, Zara, and Cat was also amazing, and I hope we'll see more of that trio in the future. Also, I wouldn't mind a book for Cat because she was such an interesting and lovable character. The same goes for Ryder! His dynamic with Sabrina and Hunter was heartwarming, and I liked him a lot.
Overall, I loved everything about this book. The story, the characters, the romance, the group of friends... everything was so well done! I'm super excited for Maddy and Everest's book, and I know I'm going to love them as much as Sabrina and Hunter.

I got to the end of the Falling trilogy and was teased with the fact that the next Maya Hughes book was coming soon and had a tie in. But it had been so long since my last SWANK read I really had no idea what I was going into. I picked this book up so excited to dive into all the words and then real life blew up. All I wanted was to sit and get lost in the story but every time I tried, I ended up being dragged out and distracted.
So, a book I thought would take me a few days to read took me a week and I feel like I read it through a fog. Which absolutely sucks for me because it was a great story. And when I hid away and locked the bedroom door this morning for the last 20%, I wished I had been able to read it all in that kind of serenity. I felt all of the emotion and I cried like a baby while watching Sabrina and Hunter fight through their fears and get their happily ever after.
From the start both Sabrina and Hunter had me on side and I loved them both for all their issues. Hunter had so much going on in his head and he played the cranky jackh0le to perfection. Even when he was growling and snarling you could see his soft underbelly and thanks to the dual point of view, we got a good idea of why he was acting how he was acting.
Sabrina arrived at Hunter’s in need of a soft place to land and instead landed in the personal space of Hunter who wanted to be left alone. From getting to know Sabrina I saw the inevitable collision of their issues. And I felt like I spent most of the book waiting for it and when it hit, I felt it.
And now I am anxiously awaiting the next book because it’s Maddy’s book and she really has me dying to know everything about her. I am going to have to do a series reread before then but because I am sure this book deserves so much more attention than I gave it. Plus, I just know there’s some inside stories that I want to know before I go into that book.

Hunter was this grouchy man just wanting his apartment to himself and Sabrina barged in and brought all the chaos.
There was a lot of back and forth from wanting each other to driving each other crazy and it worked so well for their characters and made it very easy to connect with them. The tension led to an explosive chemistry that had me ridiculously invested in this story and I loved it.

sabrina is hunter’s new roommate, even though he had no idea she was coming to his apartment. he’s not happy with his grandmother choice of offering sabrina a room until she could find her footing again after she broke up with her ex, so now he’s stuck with a stranger he can’t stop thinking about. she’s invaded his house and his mind with her sweets and lavender smell, but he’s determined to not get close to her in any way.
this has become my favorite book by maya hughes, and sabrina and hunter my favorite couple of hers. i can’t describe how much i loved this book without spoiling the story, so i’m going to try my best to express it.
i remember liking hunter very much in the proposal, and when by the end of that book we saw that sabrina was his new roommate, i knew i needed this book. i love the roommate trope, add a bit of animosity to it and i know the book is going to be a masive hit for me. well, it has happened. hunter and sabrina serve the absolute best hate/roommates trope ever.
the beginning of their relationship was very funny because of a little misunderstanding with sabrina’s job, but it was also very heartbreaking because of hunter. i did not expect hunter’s backstory at all, and it truly broke my heart. it’s always the funny, reliable ones who get the saddest storylines! honestly, these characters end up being the ones that i love the most.
this book has everything i love: great characters, an amazing group of friends, a bit of heartbreak (okay, a lot), a romance with a lot of chemistry and steam and the most perfect ending.
things i need to add: i love the swank boys a lot and i seriously can not wait for everest and maddy, i need more hunter and sabrina, i would die to have a book about cat because she’s one of the most interesting characters i’ve ever read about and i seriously need to know what’s up with her, i love that sabrina was plus size, and i love ryder.

The Sweetest Thing is the second book in the Swank series by Maya Hughes. Told in dual perspectives, this is an emotional, enemies-to-lover's romance featuring Hunter Saxton and Sabrina Mason.
After leaving a bad relationship, Sabrina finds herself in need of a new place to stay. Luckily a friend helps her out, and now she's living in a swanky penthouse until she can get back on her feet. The only problem... she must share the place with her friend's gorgeous but grumpy grandson.
Hunter has a sad past that's left him angry and suffering from daily nightmares. When he finds out that his grandma Gigi offered up one of the bedrooms in the penthouse to somebody he doesn't know, he is not very happy. A roommate is the last thing that he wants or needs.
I loved watching the relationship between these two characters evolve. I enjoyed their journey to happily ever after, each and every step of the way. The happy moments, the funny moments, the steamy moments and even the heartbreaking moments. These characters and their story was very well written and left me yearning for more. Five stars for Hunter, Sabrina and The Sweetest Thing!

This was a fun story that I gobbled right up.
Sabrina broke up with her boyfriend and needed a place to live so her grandmothers friend offered her a room in her penthouse apartment but there was one catch, her grandson lived in the apartment too. No biggie right, you stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours...well things don't go as easily as Sabrina had hoped it would.
Hunter and his friends co-own a business, SWANK, his part is the music end of things which is how this book loosely ties into THE FALLING TRILOGY that was recently released by Maya. Hunter has a lot of secrets and keeps himself closed off from just about everyone so when Sabrina barges into his life he isn't ready for it and he also isn't happy about it.
To say that Sabrina and Hunter got off to a rough start would be an understatement but I loved the way they had an attraction underneath it all. As we watch the walls tumble from around Hunter and also Sabrina's hearts we are gifted with two people that find what they need in one another.
I really enjoyed Hunter and Sabrina's story but I am sooo anxiously awaiting The Second Chance Set Up which will bring this series and the Falling Trilogy more intertwined.

Same Bed - Roommate Delight
I am absolutely digging this series from Maya Hughes. If you are looking for a romantic comedy with lots of heart to take along for that vacation, read - pick this up! But let's discuss these delicious characters for a sec.
Sabrina - strong, fierce, and funny. But also very real. She has BBF stamped all over her for reals. I love an independent heroine - Sabrina was perfect. Maya Hughes delved into the character showing us her fears and dreams while making her stand for herself.
Hunter - he doesn't know he is a cinnamon roll. He thinks he is suave, charming, and sexy. Okay, he is. BUT he has this incredible amount of tenderness and vulnerability - goodness; he made me swoon.
Things I Loved:
- great writing, entertainment with laughs and romance mixed in
- two MC I equally loved
- could be a standalone
Things to consider:
- Yes, this is a series. And there are references to book 1. But if you can't wait, this is me permitting you to jump ahead. Just jump back when you finish.
Humor and heart rule the pages of this story. You will NOT be disappointed. If you've never read a Maya Hughes book, this is a perfect story to whet your appetite.

I happen to love series that introduce characters but at the same time are only interconnected and not necessary to read all of the books before. This allows reading and picking up what you see and then if interested...which I usually am, go and then find the other books.
The Sweetest Thing is one of those types of books. We have met Hunter and Sabrina from the first book of this series and now we get their story. Basically, they are thrown together to live in this penthouse due to Sabrina's need to find a place after a breakup.
In this corner, you have grumpy, troubled Hunter. He likes his space and feels this new roommate, no matter only for a few months, is an invasion. He carries a heavy mental load and refuses any help from his brother or loved ones. He has a dark cloud hanging over him. It also doesn't help he is fighting his attraction to Sabrina.
In the other corner is Ms. Sunshine and Sassy. Sabrina has this way of being kind and sweet, yet also fights for what she believes in. No weeping willow. She stands up to Hunter causing them to finally act on all of their feelings. She is good for him and he finally accepts it.
This was engaging but a little drawn out. I am looking forward to more of this series.

The Sweetest Thing is the second book of the SWANK series and it’s Hunter and Sabrina’s story! This book has some of the best tropes. I actually really enjoyed the story and the characters.
We get a brief introduction to Hunter’s character in the previous book but now it’s explored and we know more about his personality. He honestly surprised me. Knowing more about him and his past made me feel for him. I was able to understand why he felt a certain way towards things and some of the fear that came along with it. With Sabrina I absolutely love everything about her. She is fierce, strong, stubborn at times, but she also never gives up. She’s everything I love in a character and I easily connected with her.
Hunter and Sabrina’s chemistry was one of the aspects I liked about this book. The moments they had together were my favorite. It could be the happy moments, the ones where they showed so much want and desire, or the ones that brought heartache, either way they were written really well. Their character development alongside their relationship development was everything.
Maya Hughes never misses when writing these characters and the relationships they have with the side characters. The friendships that are built is something that makes this series really entertaining. The build up for the next book was also written in a way that’s very intriguing and I can’t wait to read the upcoming books!

Just okay
Not the story I was hoping for, unfortunately. While I usually enjoy Hughes' work, this one didn't strike a chord with me. Most of the relationship development happens inside the hero's head - as in, he doesn't vocalize any of his thoughts or feelings, and just acts like a jerk 95% of the time. So, while the reader knows what's going on with him, the heroine does not. And I wondered why she'd put up with him. That definitely caused me to emotionally disconnect from the story, and I found the push/pull dynamic to be tiresome after awhile. Which is too bad, because there is a lot of good stuff going on here. I love a tortured hero who is healed by the right woman, but that has to come about in the correct way. Here, I just thought he needed therapy.
The story follows Hunter, one of the guys in the friend group that the SWANK series centers around. He's a successful, attractive guy who has been battling some demons recently. When Hunter's grandmother meddles and saddles him with an unwanted roommate (of the tantalizing variety), Hunter isn't sure what to do. He's dealing with nightmares and can't get any sleep with Sabrina around - though he would never admit that to her. The longer she's around, the more Sabrina messes with Hunter's head, and a lack of sleep just makes him surlier and surlier. But somewhere along the way, attraction builds, and it can only be ignored for so long.
I wanted to like Hunter, I really did. The reader knows more about his reasons for acting the way he does, so it was easy to empathize with him. But he never communicates ANY of that with Sabrina; he's nothing but a jerk to her, and their bickering isn't really the kind that advances a relationship. The constant miscommunication is detrimental to any and all relationship development, and the continued push/pull dynamic is also a problem. I liked both characters when they weren't together, but didn't feel particularly compelled by their relationship. The foundation of a great book is here - I LOVE unexpected roommates, I love a grouchy hero, I love forced proximity - but it just didn't play out all that well. With a few changes, I probably would've liked this quite a bit. As it stands, I didn't.

Let me just start with saying how much I loooove the way Maya Hughes writes and the complex and wonderful characters she creates for us. I cannot get enough of the groups of friends we get to know and love. All of them, from Kings of Rittenhouse, Fulton U to this series, SWANK all have a special place in my heart, mostly thanks to the flawed and lovable characters.
The sweetest thing is the second book in the SWANK series and it's a roommates-to-lovers, forced proximity and kind of a sunshine/grumpy romance as well. I am sad to say I did not love this as much as her other works, it was still a good book and I really enjoyed it, but it felt like something was missing and it just didn't make the big impact on me as I expected it to do. To be honest, I lived more for the crumbs for the next book (more on that later) than I did for Hunter and Sabrina's story, which was a bit of a let-down.
Something I hope gets better is that we get more scenes with the boys, it doesn't have to be the whole group, but I thought their scenes were too sparse and I really want to get know them from other characters' PoVs too and not just from their own books.
Okay, over to the most exciting thing I felt from this book: Everest and Maddy crumbs!!!!!! THEIR BOOK IS NEXT AND I CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW EXCITED I AM!!!!! And yes, the very very many exclamation marks are much needed because their story sounds freaking incredible and I need it NOW. I mean, come on, enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance by one of my favourite authors? Yep, I'm going to die when I finally get my hands on their book

The Sweetest Thing is the second book in the SWANK series by Maya Hughes that follows the story of Sabrina and Hunter, two characters that were briefly introduced in the previous book of the series.
Sabrina is in need of a place to live while she tries to figure out a plan for life after breaking up with her boyfriend. She is lucky enough to have the opportunity to accept an offer to take a room in a penthouse that she will have to share with her acquaintance’s grandson Hunter until she finds a new place that she can afford. Hunter is not so keen on the idea of having to share his space with this new roommate that he does not know anything about. However, they will have to either learn how to put up with each other for a few months or how to avoid each other best.
This book has an emotional side that I did not expect but enjoyed nonetheless since it offered a depth to the characters and the story. Nevertheless, the story still maintained the rom-com side with the grumpy/sunshine trope that was combined with the roommate trope. There was also angst, and a palpable attraction and chemistry between the two main characters. As always, I enjoyed the presence of the secondary characters of the series, and the new addition of Sabrina’s best friend Cat.
While I was interested equally in Hunter and Sabrina as separate characters, I have to confess that I found myself drawn to Sabrina from the very first moment. She was an amazing main character, and I liked how she managed to be set on her goals at the same time that she maintained her sweetness. While I also liked Hunter and was interested in his backstory, I found myself sometimes resenting his behavior toward Sabrina. I did understand where he came from and how he did not want to show the vulnerability he so carefully wanted to hide, and I liked that Sabrina did not hesitate to fight back in the conversations that they shared.
Sabrina and Hunter were clearly drawn in by each other at the beginning of the book, which opened with the most awkward and endearing stage of their relationship while they were still trying to figure out their footing around one another. At the same time, that attraction started developing into something more that brought the strong feelings that they shared for each other.
I really cannot wait to see what Maya Hughes has in store for Everest and Maddy, and I will not be opposed to read a book about Sabrina’s best friend Cat. She was an interesting character that managed to capture my attention even though she appeared a few times in the book, I really enjoyed the dynamic she had going on with Sabrina and Zara! Overall, it was a really good book with an interesting story and characters.

The men of SWANK each have their own story to tell. Hunter loves his friends, but he keeps everyone at arms length. If you get to close, he'll find a way to push you out. A sad past left him angry and riddled with nightmares that are haunting him. A new roommate is the last thing he needs.
Sabrina is starting over. Abruptly leaving a bad relationship, she finds herself in need of a temporary residence. Luckily a friend came through and now she's living in a beautiful penthouse, with a gorgeous roommate, until she can get back on her feet. Now she's concentrating on getting her career off the ground and land some contracts. Then she can move out and leave her grumpy roommate behind.
They started out as enemies but over time they became friends. Slowly Sabrina won him over until they crossed the line from friends to lovers. She's a sweet girl who overlooks Hunter's short comings. All she wants is to see him let go of his pain and finds his happiness. It will be an uphill battle because Hunter is nothing if not stubborn.
The story is told in dual POV and delivers on the sexual tension. Both characters are multi-layered and have their own pain that they carry. This story will deliver emotional moments and some comic relief as well. Sabrina's best friend Cat is a whirlwind of crazy and I absolutely loved her. Every girl deserves a bff like Cat. Things that kept me intrigued and invested throughout this book:

I DID love the whole tight-knit group of friends / found family vibe this had going on though, and that's why I'm definitely invested in the future stories in this (extended) universe, like, hmm, let's think, EVEREST AND MADDIE.
I'm gonna chill now, chill and patiently wait for that book...in a totally calm manner.
Things that kept me intrigued and invested throughout this book:
☀ Hunter's brother Ryder
☀ Everest and Maddie, they are giving me HUUUGE ryebrenna vibes, I'm here for all that unresolved enemies-to-lovers second chance angst with rock band in the background
☀ Sabrina's bestie Cat, she seems wild and unapologetic and jaded and sassy as hell and whether it's a romance with one of the other guys in SWANK or a boss-employee lustvella with her hot Russian boss, I don't care, I just want her story
☀ again, Everest and Maddie, and WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED IN MILWAUKEE I NEED TO KNOW
Things that kept me moderately interested:
☁ MCs' love story
☁ Hunter's angst over his brother where it takes him 350+ pages to understand the simple truth that a child is not responsible for actions of their parent and should not be made feel like shit for existing
☁ third act drama that I could predict from page 50 (and being predictable is not even an issue, it's just that the formula was exactly the same as book 1)

Sabrina and Hunter😍
The Sweetest Thing is book two in the SWANK series and I have to admit, I was a bit confused at the beginning of how everyone fit in the “SWANK” part of the story but Maya, the great storyteller she is, set the pieces into place not long after and my heart beat for this couple pretty quickly too❣️Sabrina’s compassion won me over and mr grumpy pants took a bit longer but the inherent underlying pain broke my heart❤️🩹
I won’t say too much other than I’m super excited to see what the next book brings and I loved Hunter and Sabrina and their path to each other which was long and complex but SOOOOOO worth it🤩
I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️

I think I'm having a bad day because this book while it was an OK read it was not a Wow read like I'm used to when reading Maya's books.
To be honest it was a bit long - I could have done without a few chapters. But with that said I understand the whole plot of the book and it's twists. Hunter has a past that doesn't leave much room for someone to maneuver and try to stay there forever. He tried to push Sabrina away for a really long time. She was the highlight in this story. She was down on her luck but was decided that she will succeed.
I liked the slow burn and the push and pull they had going on but like said at the beginning of this review I could do it without a few chapters.

I have been waiting for more SWANK and here we are.
I loved both Hunter and Sabrina, their banter, the slow burn, and the tension. I think their overall development was so entertaining to follow.
Maya Hughes was amazing writing these characters, although there were sometimes when I felt like the story was dragging a little more than I wanted.
Still, I got an amazing time reading it, and absolutely think it was a cute, light, fun, and sweet romance.
I’m also really excited for the other characters, especially Maddy (from the Falling trilogy). I can't explain it but I find her so interesting, just want to know more about her.
So here I am back to where I started… waiting… for more SWANK.

I’m in love with this book.
The interactions, the banter and so many feelings from chemistry and emotions, family dynamics and acceptance of life as it is.
Sabrina and Hunter are perfect for each other and their love story is a must read one.
I was looking forward to read this book and now I need to know more about the secondary characters.

So in a way this was also an enemies to lover romance like the first one in the series, The Proposal. This was definitely a page-turner as well. I really liked both characters, well, even though Hunter was kind of a jerk in a lot of ways, his character was exactly what was needed for this story. But I loved how Sabrina took what he threw at her and gave it right back to him just as good. One thing this author does is something that I always love when my favorite authors do, they sprinkle in bits and pieces of other characters and places and stories. We had the Fulton U connection, but also a connection to the Falling series that i just finished up a month or so ago.
I also loved getting more tidbits on the characters that I’m sure will make up the rest of the SWANK series, Hunter’s co-workers and friends. When I go back and read my review of the first book in the series, I see that the male lead also was a little bit unlikable to me at first too. But then the author seems to know how to win us over, and that is great, because it makes me feel like I’m right there with Sabrina. However in this book, I feel like Hunter’s nightmares seemed a little extreme with not really having a high intensity moment like a car crash or something, but I guess it works. And then I felt Hunter was unreasonable about his half-brother and how he treated him when it wasn’t his fault. As well as I just knew that once Hunter found out the whole story about Sabrina’s ex, I just knew he was going to react that way, and that made me mad.
I did have one issue with the book overall, and it was the descriptions. There were a couple spots when there was way overly detailed, almost repetitive descriptions, and I mean within the same sentence/paragraph. And then at the very end, I’m not sure we got an exact description of what Hunter was wearing. I assume it was what he had on the first time he met Sabrina? But even scrolling back through, I’m not sure if I found it exactly at the end.
Which reminds me that I did love Sabrina’s friend Cat, and I’m wondering if she’ll get a story with her Ivan guy/boss at some point, a different series or standalone maybe? I am looking forward to the third book in this series, which I think will be Everett’s book.

This book is the second in the SWANK series and it is Hunter Saxton's story. He is a part of Leo's friend group which contained- Leo, August, Everest and Hunter. Together they started an event management company and Hunter was in charge of managing a show on the New Year's eve.
“Fine. Lay the lecture on me.” “You can’t just barge in and take over.” He banged on the door. “We’re not finished talking.” “Oh yes, we are.”
Hunter was used to being alone since his mom and dad died and had slight abandonment issues. His dad cheated on his mom with another woman and now his half brother Ryder is trying to get in touch with him to get to know him better but because of a reason, Hunter has no plans to reconcile. He was pretty much used to living alone in his apartment but what de didn't expect was his grandmother to send him a suprise in the form of a new roommate- Sabrina Mason.
“You’re driving me absolutely crazy.” “In a good way?” “In the worst way.”
Sabrina was a really good person. She had just gotten over her breakup with her ex and was moving out of the apartment they shared. Unfortunately, she didn't have a temporary place to move into until she secured her next paycheck. That leads to her grandmother asking for a favour to her long time friend who so happened to be Hunter's Grandma.
"Sabrina saw through me. From the first day when she’d walked in on me, she’d seen straight through me, which was the scariest thing I’d ever faced."
Sabrina & Hunter started off on the wrong foot. Hunter didn't want his personal space to be invaded and Sabrina had no other option but to share the apartment temporarily. At first Hunter was rude and impatient and they had some misunderstandings because he had no idea what exactly Sabrina's job was but as they spent more time together, him and Sabrina fell into some kind of normalcy. He introduced Sabrina to his friend group and their relationship started to take a new turn. I liked how Sabrina dealt with him and handled him with calm and sass even if he was being rude. She was too nice to him even when he didn't deserve it.
I loved Hunter & Sabrina but the highlight of this book was the friendship they shared with their respective friend group. Hunter let his guard down and was so comfortable and funny when he was around his friends. Sabrina had such a fun loving and amazing bestfriend-Cat and they somehow also formed a strong bond with Zara. I absolutely loved their little trio.
Overall, the book had a grump-sunshine trope but it felt flat. The writing was good and the chemistry was intense but maybe I was expecting something more and I was disappointed.
I felt like we knew so much about Hunter but very little about Sabrina. Hunter's past and his family was explained but Sabrina's side of the family was just mentioned once or twice. Which is why I sympathized with Hunter more than Sabrina but at around 86% I was so mad at him for the things he said to Sabrina and I don't think he grovelled enough for his mistake.
The epilogue felt too rushed and was kind of a cliffhanger? It left me thinking what would happen between Everest and Maddy. I'm a goner for the second chance trope which is why I want their book sooo bad. And can Cat get her own book with Ivan please? I'm just so intruged to get to know more about their dynamics.

If there’s one thing that will always make me dive in to this series is the SWANK men. August, Hunter, Jameson, Everest and Leo they’re long time friends and now working together in the event business. I love their interaction, the real brotherhood and love they have for each other. They often are in disagreement like most “families” but they’d do anything for each other.
Now is time for Hunter’s story and the beginning between him and Sabrina was super funny. My favorite thing about her was that she was curvy, confident, unapologetic and funny woman. She was his new roommate, that he wasn’t aware until she arrived in his space. Although their attraction were instant, their friendship took a lot of time. Their bickering and “pranks” were great, from him thinking she was a porn star and her thinking he might be gigolo, they had a long road ahead.
Both of them were hiding a lot from each other, but around the middle he started to opened up to his struggles, which I loved. Although she opened up too, she also kept a lot of things from him. There was a moment there that she was really invasive and without knowing all the facts, she went deliberately against Hunter’s wishes. If it were with me I’d ask her to leave immediately.
Things would be better if they really communicate, but most of the things happened with inner conversations. By the time the twist arrived, I wasn’t that into to them anymore, that change a little by the end, it was super funny and Hunter totally surprised me. Apart from the SWANK boys, the highlight for me was Cat, Sabrina’s friend. Am I crazy that I’m kind obsessed with Cat and want to know about her bosses in Russia, the Ivan’s? I mean, it would be a hot RH!

Sabrina Mason is desperate for a place to stay after ghosting her lying boyfriend. With no other choice, she lands on Hunter Saxton’s swanky doorstep, courtesy of his grandmother. Instant attraction doesn’t help the fact that Hunter very obviously doesn’t want her there and makes her feel thoroughly unwelcome.
”She wasn’t mine. The streak of possessiveness blindsided me and told me now more than ever we needed some space between each other.”
Hunter likes his own space – within four physical and metaphorical walls. He wants Sabrina out so he can be himself without an audience but, at the same time, he can’t help getting caught up in her and having surprisingly strong feelings about her. The push and pull between them soon comes to a breaking point, but will Hunter’s issues and Sabrina’s recent past be obstacles too big to overcome?

I adored Sabrina! In spite of her last relationship, she’s bubbly, creative and resourceful. I thought she was intrinsically a happy person and looked for the good in others. Hunter was such a jerk to her initially, but she saw through his façade to the sensitive, wounded guy beneath. Hunter had some deep-seated issues and fears to work through and I loved how Sabrina brought out the real him. I absolutely adored the conclusion – it was pretty darn swoony! The two of them together were sexy, irresistible and addictive!

I enjoyed reading this one! Hunter and Sabrina were fun characters, and I felt like they were well-rounded and fleshed out. Sabrina is moving into Hunter’s apartment without him being aware after her relationship blows up. Being offered a room in the apartment by his grandmother, Sabrina takes the opportunity. In the beginning, Hunter and Sabrina don’t get along very well, and Hunter does not like sharing his space. I loved the tension between them. There was a lot of lust right away, but the romance was a slow-burn. Their relationship evolved slowly moving between friendship and lovers, but it was worth the wait!
I really liked some of the side characters in this one too. Ryder was a sweet character, and his relationship with Hunter was a continual reminder of Hunter’s past and the anger he felt for his dad. I also loved Cat! She was a fantastic side character, and I’d love to read a book about her!
I thought the character growth for Hunter was good, and I liked how Sabrina pushed him and made him realize all of the walls that he had up. His denial over his attraction and the comfort he found in the smell of her bath oil were interesting points that helped to further show how he had to work through his own issues alongside the development of his relationship with Sabrina.
Overall, I thought this was a good read and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a romance with good chemistry between the characters and a slow burn.

There is just something about the roommates trope, especially when the characters meet for the first time and hate each other. The tension, banter is always so darn good and Maya really brought it!
Sabrina had such a interesting job omg and what Hunter thought she was doing omg ahah. It was hilarious! This book had some hilarious moments but then also A LOT of heartfelt ones. There is so much to these two’s story, their pasts, their journey. It was incredible!
As always the second characters were amazing! I love the character we were introduced to here and I hope he will eventually get his own book! Cuz I loved him🥰 And I’m also REALLY excited for the next one: the stuck together trope, second chance romance, the promise of angst; gah, I cannot wait!
