I wanted to like this one so bad but seriously I have some issues with it. The art style is repetitive and there's nothing much to read and follow. The dialogue bubbles and the dialogues are a but congested and the characters are so full of themselves. At first I thought it must have been a joke but it kept on being like that ever since the story began and I could not find any significance of it. I thought it would be full of action and some space story with characters that are lively and interesting but I feel there's a lot of negative elements in this one that I feel it's inappropriate for the age audience that it is targetting. I don't find this one cute or entertaining or even slightly funny.
I really wanted to like this read but I guess this one is not meant to be.

Thank you #NetGalley so much for the book #FunFunFunWorld

Fun Fun Fun World is very, very fun! I really enjoyed this graphic novel about aliens that don't seem to realize what imperialism is, even though conquering planets is their job. Javi is a great character and I loved how he outwitted the aliens. It's a fun story, easy to follow, and I thought the art style was really cute!

Fun Fun Fun World follows the crew of Devastorm 5, which is the worst crew within the alien universe. They take part in trying to find new planets to take over and conquer, however, this crew hasn’t successfully achieved this mission before. The crew is lead by Minky, who thinks he is the best captain in the galaxy and has come from a very successful mother, who he wants to do her proud. Due to this and being the joke within the alien galaxy, he vows he’s going to do the one thing that his mother never achieved – conquering Earth. However, little does he know, the part of Earth he lands on, is just a small part of Earth and also an amusement park. After they land in Fun Fun Fun World amusement park, they meet Javi, who is the son of the amusement park’s head engineer, and he tells the aliens that Earth hasn’t been the same for a long time. This is where Javi begins to outwit the aliens and introduces them to churros, which Minky absolutely loves and never wants to leave Earth because of churros. What else could happen for this disastrous alien crew? Of course another alien coming to ruin their conquering and destroy Earth!

One of the things I loved the most about this comic is at the very beginning as the storyline and characters are being introduced to the reader, the reader is given the characters titles and names when they first appear in the comic. I thought that this was such a brilliant idea and this is the only comic I’ve seen this in. I appreciated it greatly, as I got easily confused with the busy pages.

I loved how the characters were given the opportunity to grow in a relatively short graphic novel. I think this is extremely important to show for the intended audience being children’s fiction and middle grade readers. The specific growth of Minky and also other members of the crew, such as Eggy.

This is easily one of the quirkiest comics I’ve read so far! The illustrations were so colourful and detailed, yet were very old school. I loved them so much. I love a lot of colour in comics so this was fabulous for me, and this type of illustrations and colour are extremely important for the intended audience as well.

My only very slight issue was how busy some of the pages were with illustrations but also sometimes confusing dialogue. However, once the flow of the comic was felt, I ended up reading it quite easily, only being confused every now and then.

Thank you very much to Oni Press for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

*I received a copy of this book from Oni Press in exchange for a free review.

This was such a fun little adventure! In this story we follow a crew of misfits as they are doing everything they can to conquer a planet and redeem themselves as well as learn to work together. As with any group of aliens (or people) there are growing pains, hurt feelings and bad decisions. Add to that a precocious child who just wants an amusement part to find it's old magic again and you have a roller coaster ride of mishaps and shenanigans.

The art style and coloring are perfect for not only the subject but also the targeted age range of the story. The colors are super vibrant and bring out that over the top, super fun motif!

Goofy yet sincere, Fun Fun Fun World is a fun new graphic novel for kids. With colorful drawings, unique character designs and dynamic artwork, Fun is a hilarious adventure story about aliens sent to concur Earth. Although it is very silly, this comic also touches on loyalty, friendship and living up to expectations.

Fun Fun Fun World is not for me but I am excited to be able to recommend this book to kids who have already read Dog Man, Squish, Mighty Jack and Hilo and need something new!

First ARC by a Latinx read this year! A fun, fun, fun romp between aliens who might be a little clueless as to the realities of imperialism and what an amusement park is. I loved Javi and how the crew learned to work together despite their differences by the end. The colors in the book are vivid and the story easy to follow through its fast pace.

BUYING ADVISORY: EL, MS – ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Minky is an alien life form, captain of the Devastorm 5, who hasn’t been successful at conquering any planets, but has set his sight on Earth. Eager to avoid the Scourge Realm should he fail, he and his crew land in a defunct theme park. Javi, a young and resourceful human, who sees in the aliens a chance to use their technology to get the theme park working and save his dad’s job there, takes advantage of the dim aliens. It turns out that churros may be the best intergalactic currency of all! But the park is hiding secrets and other aliens may want in on the conquering.

There is a lot of humor here, and if you’ve ever been to an amusement park, you’ll relate to Fun Fun Fun World. Nice color and easy to read graphics make this easy to follow. If you want a fun fast read that doesn’t eat up too many brain cells, grab a churro and hang on for the ride.

Captain Minky and his crew have failed in conquering yet another planet for the Queen. They are sure they are doomed, but Minky’s fast talking gets them out of hot water. For now. They’re still probably doomed though because he got out of trouble by promising the Queen he’d conquer Earth for her. It is the one planet his legendary mother couldn’t conquer. And given his mom’s track record versus his…well, let’s just say his crew doesn’t have high hopes. They land in a place that quickly succumbs to their conquest, though. But it turns out they just really conquered an amusement park that a kid decided to let them conquer in order to get their tech help in refurbishing. Captain Minky is soon facing mutiny when this is revealed and the much more brutal Captain Vang is on his way to deal with Earth. Meanwhile, the amusement park still needs some work to be up and running again. What will Minky choose? Earth conquest, amusement park rule, curl up into a ball, or something else?

This was much more fun than I could have hoped. Why has no one ever had the would be invading/conquering aliens land in a theme park before? It is a brilliant idea. Minky is a new entry in the incompetent but hopeless alien invaders that are so fun to watch bungle their way through a plot. Combine that with the rundown amusement park and the likable kid who wants to get it up and running again, and it makes for very entertaining reading. The illustrations are vibrant and make the alien spaceship and amusement park really come to life. Highly recommended for those who enjoy scifi or humor graphic novels.

Notes on content [based on ARC]: No language issues or sexual content. Some cartoon violence that doesn’t result in anyone seriously hurt.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Written and illustrated by Sci-Fu's Yehudi Mercado, Fun Fun Fun World starts off with the crew of the Devastorm 5, led by the inept Captain Minky, running from another failed mission. Minky's in serious trouble if he doesn't have tribute for his Queen, so he makes her an offer she can't refuse: he'll give her the Earth. The rest of the Devastorm has no idea how they're going to pull this off, but Minky is convinced they can do it. So when they land at Fun Fun Fun World, a down-on-its luck amusement run by a single dad raising his son, Javi, they think they've got Earth laid out in front of them. Javi figures things out pretty quickly and decides not to tell them that they've landed in Des Moines: after all, he needs their technology to get the park up and running, saving his dad's career and keeping a roof over their heads. The story is hilarious, bananas, and too much fun to read. It's bright, it's neon, with confused aliens and a kid who keeps outstmarting them to further his father's dream. There's a super secret mystery hidden at the heart of Fun Fun Fun World to spice things up a bit, and there's always the threat of interplanetary war to keep things running. Kids who love watching Cartoon Network's high-energy cartoons like Steven Universe and The Regular Show will love this.

I love the plot. I really do. When the aliens come to invade Earth, the Ricky Baker kid does something refreshingly intelligent. He distracts them by tricking them into helping run his dad's amusement park.
...But the bad bad alien might come to crash the party.
...And there could be a traitor in their midst.
...And they could realize the kid's ploy at any time!

...And yet. I could find no reason to root for the protagonist [alien]. He never "saved the cat," and (because he deserved it) I wanted him to get the punishment his queen threatened. The dude's loathsomely terrible and a-holeish about every possible thing to all of his crew.

I liked the churros, though. That was a great tidbit of cultural celebration.
...I also liked all the not-so-hidden references to real-world amusement parks
...And all the original theme park material. Great work there, Yehudi. (And S.C.R.A.W.L. students from EARTH-2 Comics.)

'Fun Fun Fun World' with story and illustrations by Yehudi Mercado is a graphic novel about a group of fairly inept alien invaders.

A group of failing space explorers can't manage to conquer any planets. With an angry queen giving them a last chance, they decide to conquer Earth. A young boy named Javi, and his father, run a failing amusement park. Javi convinces the aliens to help him fix the amusement part. In return, they think they have captured Earth. What happens when the queen sends someone to check on them.

This was a pretty silly story, but I found it a lot of fun. It had a lot of references to a certain famous theme park, so that was fun too. The art is bright and kind of crazy. I think young readers would like it.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Oni Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

It's visually popping with art that has vibrant blues, yellows and pinks. The cell shading is subtle and lovely. The plot is action packed. Minky, captain of an alien ship needs a big prize for his queen, so he pledges to capture Earth. Instead they land at a amusement park in Iowa that is reopening, and Javi, the son of a amusement park designer, convinces them the park is Earth and they have indeed captured it. Javi then gets them to repair and work at the park for churros. The plot gets even thornier with a ton of twists and turns. Kids will lovev it, but I was kind of surprised that the reveal of Earth copies the same waythe reveal was done in Galaxy Quest.

It's very fun, and I'm sure kids will eat it up with all the plot and bright visuals.

The alien warship, Devastorm 5, has failed to complete its queen's orders one too many times. Its four members have been given two final options. They can either a) face the incinerator or b) capture Earth for the aliens. They decide on option b. Landing in a theme park (called Fun Fun Fun World), the aliens create their plot to conquer the planet. But when a human boy, Javi, gets wind of their plans, he convinces them that Fun Fun Fun World is the extent of the Earth. But how long can Javi entertain the aliens before they realize they've been tricked?

The real title: Dumb Dumb Dumb World. The art in this graphic novel is good but that's about it. The characters are not at all likable, the dialogue is weak, and the plot is Swiss cheese. This one's a real miss.

When aliens invade the theme park his dad is trying to get running, Javi convinces them that they have conquered Earth and must bring fun to Earthlings to inspire them to mine for churros. (Yep. I know.) Captain Minky and the rest of his crew embrace this, restoring the theme park, getting all the rides up and running, and performing as costume characters. But what will they do when Minky's nemesis Vang heads to Earth, determined not to conquer it--but to destroy it? Silly and campy. Kids will probably love it.

I was lucky to receive an arc of Fun Fun Fun World by Yehudi Mercado via Netgalley which is Children's Graphic Novel. Fun Fun Fun World is about a group of Aliens who are captained by Minky who is not the greatest leader who is living in his Mother's shadow go to earth and try and conquer it. I love the artwork it is amazing and very colourful as is the story is too. For this reason I have to give Fun Fun Fun World 4 stars and hope that there is a follow up.

Fun fun fun indeed, a protagonist of color, and the seems-obvious-now proposition that churros change lives and will save the galaxy. Only after finishing did I realize Mercado was also the author and illustrator behind SciFu, an earlier graphic novel with a lot of the same vibe—strange, unmistakably interesting, unlike anything else on the market. Now I’ll always be on the watch for new books by this author.

Aliens invade Earth and conquer it for their queen. Except they've really only invaded an amusement park that's a parody/homage to Disneyland, complete with conspiracy theories about the park's founder.

It was a fun, colourful story about clueless aliens, a clever kid called Javi and a slightly off inventor. And in the end, churros save the world.

My son really enjoyed the illustration style and found the characters to be quite engaging. There were parts of the story that got a little harder to follow, but overall this was quite an enjoyable read. I would recommend this title for kids who are fans of science fiction, who are looking for a Fun Fun Fun way to spend an afternoon.

I really loved the book a lot! It was so fun to read. The graphics were fine, really colorful. Something, I didn't really like about the book was how some of the speech bubbles were a bit confusing, in terms of who was speaking and when. Otherwise, everything else was great. The plot line was humorous and FUN FUN FUN!

ThankYou for the free ARC!

Okay, but this WAS FUN FUN FUN. I love this idea that aliens came to earth thinking that they’re taking out the “king,” but really they’re taking out the king of an amusement park. And an amusement park where the king is a corgi. That’s brilliant. I just adored this. It was a hodge podge of Disney and universal and I thought it was great.

What a blast! I loved the conceit of aliens thinking that a theme park was the seat of power for our whole planet. And the hijinks in such a fun setting were great! Appreciated the visible diversity, bright illustrations, and goofage. Might take this to school visits at some point. :)
