This series really is fun. A great book to read with the family. Dave always gives us such a good laugh.
The quiz at the end is great and my kids love the unicorn jokes .

3.5/5 It's sports day at Unicorn School and Mira's friends have lots of new challenges to face - especially Team Sloth! 🤔
Another fun read sure to entertain readers who enjoyed the first book in the series this book would also work well as a stand alone story. The jokes at the end are a great addition too, no doubt I'll have to hear them many, many times in my classroom 😅

Mira on odottanut yksisarviskouluun pääsyä malttamattomasti. Koulussa jokainen oppilas saa heti ensimmäisenä päivänä ystäväkseen ikioman yksisarvisen, jollainen valikoituu oppilaille taikuuden avulla. Kaikkien toinen toistaan hienompien yksisarvisten jälkeen viimeisenä omansa saa Mira, jonka yksisarvinen osoittautuu pieneksi, pulleaksi, laiskaksi ja uneliaaksi ahmatiksi (joka kaiken lisäksi piereskelee kovaäänisesti) - eli ei aivan sellaiseksi, mikä ennakoisi hyvää koulumenestystä ja kilpailuvoittoja. Yksisarvisella on vähemmän ylväältä kuulostava nimikin, Teppo.

Mira näyttää suhtautuvan toisiin oppilaisiin reilummin kuin he aina ansaitsivatkaan.

Mira has finally gotten used to Dave, her rather unusual unicorn best friend forever. Now it is time to return to Unicorn School for Field Day! Mira isn't convinced that Dave is the most athletic unicorn, but she is determined to help her team achieve victory so they can go on the Magical Rainbow Quest.

But from the very beginning of the day, everything goes wrong. None of her teammate's alarm clocks go off. Their rainbow track suits go missing. Banana peels randomly appear on the field, and their equipment is swapped out for candy substitutes. The school staff seem to think Mira is just making excuses, but she is convinced that someone is sabotaging them.

Dave the Unicorn is a funny, lighthearted series that will appeal to kids who like the humor of Diary of a Wimpy Kid but might not be ready for middle school drama (or kids who are looking for a more text-heavy Dog Man readalike). When you think about the magical unicorn universe too much you are left with a lot of questions and some plot holes, but this series will be well loved by its intended audience.

A fun book for ages 7-10 years old. Imaginative with lessons about teamwork. Mira and her unicorn Dave compete in their Unicorn School's Track and Field Day with the chance to go off on a Mystery Quest. Mira's older sister Rani is also a student at this school and involved in the competitions. The book includes a few lessons on dealing with sibling rivalry. There are lots of cookies, doughnuts, glitter and rainbows throughout; enough to delight any child, especially little girls.

Physically, the book feels great to hold. Perfect for smaller hands. Apparently, designed with a child's needs in mind. There are also enough illustrations to keep a wondering mind interested and enough visualization to fill in the blanks of what the characters and situations look like for kids who prefer a little enhancement with their reading.

The first book in the series is much better. There were parts of this book that didnt make sense in one way that is Duh!!! As the book is about unicorns who poo glitter and time works differently where the unicorns live as compared to our world. That is all fine because it makes sense in the world building. Basically the unicorns in this book are like the horses in our World with one or two minor changes. Then they seem to be capable of far more than the author had built them up to be. I know it's a children's book but my niece who is eight also though the ending and twist didnt make sense. Hoping the next book is better

I received a review copy of Dave the Unicorn: Team Spirit.

Most of my reading is either for toddlers, or grown-up murder, mystery & mayhem, so it took me a while to get into the correct mindset. Once I managed that, I enjoyed the book and look forward to more by Ms Bird.

There were actually a few twists that pleasantly surprised me. I look forward to sharing this with my young friends after covid restrictions are lifted.

Disclaimer: I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. This review is from my own opinions.

I enjoyed Mira and her fellow team members (the sloths). They were all unique and brought unexpected strengths to the table. The villains (jake and Rani) were likable too and I found them endearing. The story is funny and sweet. The message is pretty good as well (being a good sport and sister). Children can get the messaging without it being too much or too forced.

Adventure, humor, sibling rivalry, competition, a mystery and lots of glittery rainbows. Lots of space between the lines and lots of ink drawings support comprehension. Boys would actually like this because of the humor (Dave the unicorn would prefer to eat than compete) and the silly adventure (sports! Dave wins one competition by bouncing on his horn!), but it will be harder to sell because of the glitter and rainbows.

Tuo Yrmeä yksisarvinen -konsepti on ihan huippu.

The Naughtiest Unicorn at Sports Day is a hilarious book that consists of guaranteed laughter and it is great for 6-9 years old. The entire collection of The Naughtiest Unicorn is also funny and suitable for young readers. There are no words that parents might want to hide from their children, so really anyone can read it!

5 stars from Mae, 3-3.5 from me. Dave is both the worst and the best. :)
Mira's team gets sabotaged during the school games... but who could have done it?

The kids on Team Sloth make the best of it and show good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Rating: PG for unicorn poop and lots of farts.

I enjoyed this read – the paperback version was all in black and white so you’d have enough pictures for us little kids to color for quite a while! But, the story was good in that it showed the rewards of cooperation and team work. The Unicorns were all as unique as every individual on earth is!

I really do enjoy how much fun these are. They just make me laugh! And imagine going to a unicorn school through a magic portal. I’d love it.

This was great for focusing on teamwork and not sabotaging others around you for your own personal gain.

Another thumbs up from my daughter.

Another instalment from Dave & Mira as they get ready for sports day.

Dave is, as usual, less than enthusiastic about participating in sports day although that doesn’t dampen Mira’s spirits or her competitive streak with her sister, Rani.

Rani & Mira are selected for different teams & as things begin to go wrong, Mira suspects that somebody is out to sabotage her team. Her & Dave have to try to find out what is happening while competing.

Dave once again gave us lots more giggles & farts! Another little adventure that taught us not to underestimate Dave.

Won this book and am delighted to report that "Dave the Unicorn: Team Spirit" (Book 2 in new series by Pip Bird) is a gem of a read! You'll laugh out loud at the antics of Mira, her unicorn, "Dave" and the other children as they try to win Field Day at Unicorn School. Good sportsmanship, playing fair, and how appearances can be deceptive are all useful themes for young and old. But read this book for the sheer fun of it! May the Best Unicorn win! I'm certainly going to look for Book 1, "Dave the Unicorn" in this new hilarious series for ages 7-10.

It’s time for the second term at Unicorn School and with her sister’s words ringing in her ears, Mira is determined to win lots of medals and prove that her ‘Unicorn Best Friend Forever’ Dave is not the “naughtiest, rubbishest unicorn in the world.” And Unicorn Sports Day is the perfect opportunity. Except that Mira’s team have named themselves the sloths and weird things keep happening to their equipment. Someone has messed with their alarm clock, their sack-race sacks have been filled with feathers, their special rainbow tracksuits have vanished and there are definite signs of foul play with their egg and spoon race eggs. If Mira and Dave stand any chance of wining a medal and going on The Mystery Quest they need to work out what is going on and fast…

This is the second book in the The Naughtiest Unicorn series and makes for another very enjoyable read. There is plenty of mystery as the strange goings-on unfold and this raises issues of trust between Mari and her sister, Rani, and the question of people doing whatever it takes to win.

At the back of the book readers will find some unicorn themed jokes and there is a nice little quiz to test their knowledge of the story.

A very accessible book for readers who are beginning to read chapter books. The chapters are short and the text is nicely spaced out. There are hilarious illustrations throughout produced by David O’Connell.

Recommended for 6+.
