As close friends and coworkers, attorney Zoe Riva and tech genius Connor Ashton know they can never get involved.
Never.
Ever.
Until a scooter accident lands Zoe in Connor's arms—and his overnight custody—and she starts to see a man she's never seen before. With her career and her heart on the line, Zoe can't afford to take any chances. But when combustible chemistry takes over, even the smartest people in the room can make the biggest of mistakes…
I wrote my first book when I was in high school--a romance called "A Wild and Stormy Passion," which featured swordplay, kidnapping, a pirate heroine, and lots of naughty bits (that came entirely from my adolescent imagination!). Since then, I've written young adult novels and adult romances of the category, contemporary, and fantasy varieties. My books are romantic and sensual. I like strong women and strong men and the sparks that fly when they get together.
I am a dabbler and an emotional sponge. I can't read scary books or anything with an unhappy ending. I reserve the right to enjoy country music, puppies, true love, and happily ever after.
If you're perusing my Goodreads shelves, you should know I only review books I want to share the word about. If you ask me, life's too short to read something you don't enjoy.
TEMPTATION was a cute read about two friends finally getting out of their own way and finding happiness together. I liked both Connor and Zoe and they were sexy and sweet as a couple even when they were messing things up and driving me crazy. This was pretty standard fare for contemporary romance -- secret hookups, pretending it's just sex when we all know it's not, meddling friends with great advice, and pesky family that you love but also drives you up the wall.

Content Warning: brief recounting of a past ex's depression and suicide attempt
Temptation indeed! Did I ever love Zoe in this book and I learned a lot about whiskey drinking, thank you Connor very much! Come in and enjoy Connor and Zoe's story, it's a little forbidden, a little klutzy, a splash of curmudgeon, a shot of lust and some super swirl romantic moments. Toss in Connor's wacky mom's bridge club and it's the perfect foil for Zoe and Connor's tale. Zoe is an attorney with the group that works with Connor's company. He and his two partners have taken Livend into the public eye. Connor is the quiet introvert who prefers to stay behind the scenes, he's uncomfortable in social settings and doesn't like making small talk. He's also been crushing on Zoe for as long as he's known her. When Zoe is testing out a clients scooter and sees Connor and ends up hitting a light pole, Connor insists on taking her to the hospital and doesn't leave her. He also takes her home after and looks after her. Zoe isn't known for her physical grace, despite her beauty, she's a bit of a klutz and a wee bit short. That means she doesn't get asked to play basketball with the guys on the weekends where informal deals are often made. Zoe is trying hard to build up her own client base and wants to go after a business that the owners rep is one of the "boys club" so she asks Connor for his help brushing up on all the things this owner seems to fancy, whiskey, basketball and of course the new electric motorcycle that his company just developed. Zoe is not just a patent attorney but has a degree in engineering as well, so she's no dummy. She's just not well versed in the world of the boys clubs. The author does a great job weaving that into the story without it being overdone. That's not what the story is about, but it's a great subplot. Connor agrees to help Zoe if Zoe will help him spy on his mother, he thinks she's experimenting with cold fusion in her garage and refuses to let him see what she's doing in there. Makes him highly suspicious so under the guise of a 4th needed for Bridge, she agrees. Zoe has a great time playing cards with Connors mom and her friends and she feels like she has friends. Zoe's history isn't great and neither is Connor's and these two have an uphill battle along with the two of them hiding their relationship. Or they think they're hiding it, but are they really. Connor drove me a little nuts at times, his negativity and undermining things with Zoe made me want to slap that man-child hard. Angry and annoyed I was. Right in there with Zoe. Even after his friends talked to him, Connor the ostrich. I loved this book and am loving the series. While I thought this was a little slow in places, it still works like a charm and in the end that's what it's all about. Yes you should read this. Inara writes a great story!
This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books Inara Scott is a new to me author, and I didn't read the first book in this series, but I feel like you didn't really need to. The couple in that book do appear in this one, so I might go back and read their book at a later date. This book focuses on Zoe and Connor, good friends who have hidden how they feel about each other because of the complicated nature of Zoe being one of lawyers for his company. If you like both friends to lovers and forbidden romances, this one might be for you.
The friendship that starts in this one really is what made me believe in Zoe and Connor. But my heart totally broke for Connor, because he is a guy that self-sabotages because he's so afraid of getting hurt. Oh, poor guy! The two start hanging out with each other more because Zoe is trying to woo a client who is very "boys club" so she wants to be able to speak his language. In exchange, Connor wants Zoe to spy on his mother for him and make sure she is not going to blow her house up with her science experiments.
Can we talk about the GPGs or Geriatric Physicist Grannies?!? Connor's mother and her group of fellow retired scientists who play bridge together call themselves this. They are kind of the best! Especially Clara who has no shame and makes everything about sex. I loved that thirsty old lady. LOL! They are all very eccentric, but I so totally loved them and they made the plot of this super interesting.
The whole forbidden romance thing was fine for me, because techincally Connor wasn't her client, but it seemed like there was a big deal made about it in the beginning about how they can't get involved but by the end it wasn't really an issue at all. It just felt like it was built up to be a huge thing, but at the end when Connor and Zoe were fighting about what they were doing, it's such a non-issue. It felt like that could have been handled better.
Despite a couple issues with the book, I did enjoy it and thought it was a fun friends to lovers book.
*I received an eARC copy of this book via Netgalley and the publisher Entangled publishing. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Zoe and Connor are two people who should not be together, and they both know this. A lot is at stake, like careers and hearts. Zoe has a bit of an accident and a subsequent concussion. Connor tends to her during this time. They are obviously attracted to each other, but a relationship is a stupid idea, unless it's a no strings attached kind of thing. Those always work out so well. Seriously? It's obvious where this is headed. The question is whether or not Zoe and Connor will survive the head on collision intact. Even though a bit of predictability is present, this is still a worthwhile fun read. It's light, charming and entertaining. Definitely a must read for romcom fans. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I am having so much fun getting to know the group of friends in Inara Scott's Bad Angels series. I want to hang out with them, sip whiskey with Zoe and Connor, pet sit their pups, and get to know them all better. I don't know how many books Scott has planned for this series but I hope it doesn't end any time soon!
I found both Connor and Zoe so endearing. They are confident and accomplished, but also realistically flawed. Both have complicated family backgrounds that have shaped their lives and influenced their actions, both hold their personal histories close to their chest, and neither of them is looking to start a relationship...but fate, and an ill-advised scooter ride, have other ideas. I really liked these two together and was cheering for a happy ending throughout their journey.
Scott slowly reveals each of them to readers as they reveal their true selves to one another, along with some self-revelations, pulling in other characters along the way but keeping the focus on the leads. Even the scenes with Connor's mother and her (retired scientists) cut-throat, card-playing friends (I adore these women!) help to dig deeper into the characters of both Zoe and Connor while continuing to move the story forward. And, speaking of Connor's mother, I really enjoyed her character arc and the poignant evolution of her relationship with her son.
The chemistry between Connor and Zoe sizzles, the banter is fast-paced and witty, and their deepening emotional connection had me sighing with satisfaction. The "bro dialogue" among Connor and his business partners is spot-on for guys who've been friends since college and I enjoyed their interactions immensely. I can't wait to see what Scott has in store for these Bad Angels next!

Half friends and half co-workers but all steamy chemistry!
Connor has been attracted to Zoe almost since her law firm began representing him and his friends, the Bad Angel investors, but he’s got some issues when it comes to trust and commitment. Zoe has always recognized that all three of the Bad Angels are good looking men but all of a sudden Connor is shirtless and saving her and she sees him in a whole new way.
Trust issues, abandonment issues, basketball, whiskey, breaking into the boys club, and four geriatric physicists provide the backdrop for Zoe and Connor to discover not only their feelings for one another but some truths about themselves as well.
I absolutely love this series! The friendship bonds are as font and center as the romance and the sexy times are 🔥🔥🔥! I can’t wait for Nate and CeCe to finally get their turn and I wouldn’t mind Luke meeting his match either!
I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
This is a sweet love story that begins with a scooter accident that throws Zoe and Conner together. They're attracted to each other, but have a bit of a forbidden issue as well as a lifetime's worth of fears that interfere with them developing a relationship.
I enjoyed the characters and especially loved the author creating strong female characters that are able to find a way to be successful in both a STEM career and relationships. A female engineer turned lawyer is a great example for young women.
If you enjoy contemporary romance, you will want to read this book. It's the first novel I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. I'm giving it four stars because while it's an entertaining story, it moved a bit slowly and seemed to lag at times.
This is the first book by this author that I have read and it was a good story. It is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. It is a friends to lovers’ story with a hint of a forbidden romance. Zoe is an attorney that is working with her friend Connor’s company. Since he is her client, they can’t act on any feelings that they may have for each other. However all it takes is one time and everything changes. They decide to have a secret fling but will they be able to keep it secret and keep it short or will they lose everything? Can Zoe and Connor make it work and get their HEA? You will have to read it to find out.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I think I am getting off of this train this is the second book in series and I had to start reading a couple of times so I gave up if I have to restart a book multiple times to be interested than it is obviously not for me.. Yes there have been some books that I started more than once and then ended up loving however this one was not it..I wasn't crazy about the first one either however tried with this one..Yeah no more.
rcvd an ARc at no cost to author..(netgalley) Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions
This was such a fun and quirky read about 2 people who work together and never realized how appealing they were too each other. At least they never told anyone about it. So throw in a scooter accident and let the fun begin. Oh and wait until you find out the reason for said scooter accident....
A rating. I'm just thoroughly enjoying this series set in San Francisco. The books have an office-play vibe to them that I'm really craving right now. Such good reads. (friends to lovers...which I love)
Zoe was trying to ride the electric scooter. She wasn’t the most coordinated person in the world. And yes she has always been the last person picked in gym class. But the company founder had wanted her to try the product. Zoe thought what she wouldn’t do for customer satisfaction. Though she was a partner in a thriving law practice- her partners were Luke and Rafe- , she had a few clients of her own and had to handle the work the other lawyers brought in. She was trying to change that situation but until she did, she had to keep the few clients she did have happy. Zoe didn’t have much time for fun. Someone was yelling at her and it turned out to be Connor who was one of the three owners of her firms biggest client. Livend Capital was a venture capital firm. It had been started a few years ago by three hotshot investors that had been dubbed the Bad Angel-. Connor and his former roommates Mason and Nate. The firm had grown at an astronomical rates making them respected players in high-tech finances. Connor was the quiet brainy one. The last to arrive, first to leave. The guy who never called when an email or text would do. Connor was off limits. First and foremost, he was part of a small circle of friends she didn’t want to bring hookup drama into the circle. Since her previous relationships existed in a spectrum from bad to awful. Secondary, professional rules forbid lawyers from having sexual relationships with their clients. She wasn’t paying attention and she ran into the lamppost. Connor wasn’t sure what hit first - her forehead or her nose. Then the bleeding started. Connor had non- friendly feelings for Zoe. and he better forget them. Just like he forced himself to stay away every time he saw her. But the attraction he felt was there. He felt Zoe was tiny but fierce, one of the toughest people he had ever met. Zoe had known Connor three years and now she found she was aware of him in a way she never had before. Connor came to the hospital and stayed with her. The doctor told Zoe she had a fractured wrist and to go to her doctor and get a cast on it in a couple days and she may have a slight concussion and had to take twenty four hours minimum off work. Stay off the computer, and phone, no email, no reading, no tv, nothing. They wanted her brain to recover quickly. Zoe’s usual side of things was the patent and engineering work. Zoe’s speciality was dealing with new start-ups, helping them identify and protect their intellectual property. The doctor wanted Zoe to be with someone for the first twenty four hours, Connor stepped up and said he would take her to his place. Connor really didn’t like that Zoe had no one to call on when she was hurt. Mason and Nate knew Connor liked Zoe and had bugged him for years to ask her out. But they also knew he refused to consider it. He was a horrible date. A worse boyfriend, He forgot dinners, missed anniversaries. Said the wrong thing. Forgot to say the right thing. Never found out what the right thing was in the first place. Skipped out on parties he never wanted to attend. Left events earlier when they involved small talk and socialization. He Managed to mishandle and somehow misunderstand every delicate situation he encountered, including relationships and the ending thereof. Connor’s mother was a retired scientist and was working on a dangerous project. Connor wanted oe to go and meet her, play bridge- which Zoe didn’t know hand try to find out what latricia- connor’s mother- was up to. Zoe wanted to get a new client who was a man and had no women in his executive circle. Connor was to teach her about sports, whiskey , and how to play basketball in Even though Zoe felt she was to be a spy on Latricia she agreed as she knew Connor was really worried about his mother. But she told Connor if she asked if Connor sent her to spy she would say yes. Zoe nor Connor had never experienced a passion like they had for each other before. Greta book, incredible read. I loved Connor and Zoe together and how they interacted. I loved how close Connor was to his best friends/ business partners Nate and mason. My heart broke for what happened to Zoe when she broke her engagement to Daniel. I loved Connors mother Lucretia, and the GPG’s- Shirley, Clara, and Minnie. I loved that Lucretia knew Zoe was trying to spy on her for Connor but forgave her as did the other GPG’s I loved Connor was a near genius , yet cooked and knew nothing about a relationship. I loved seeing both him and Zoe grow in this book. I loved the pace and plot. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

4.5 stars
Inara Scott's Temptation is the second in her Bad Angels series and I liked it even better than the first. Connor’s had secret feelings for Zoe since they met, so when he bears witness to her fall, he insists on taking care of her. They’ve always been friends, but they grow closer, close enough that Zoe asks for his help and he asks a favour in return. Increased time in the other’s company makes their chemistry impossible to ignore. They both know getting involved is a bad idea for multiple reasons, not the least of which is their professional ties and the fear of losing the other person’s friendship. But they’re both adults. Both believe they are capable of a casual fling without risking their hearts. Believing and doing are not always the same thing.
Zoe is my favourite kind of character. She’s strong while still vulnerable. She’s giving, thoughtful, understanding, whip smart, a tiny bit snarky, and completely unafraid to tell it like it is, even if she knows it might be hard for the other person to hear. She’s got integrity, empathy, and drive, and she’s not willing to let anyone tell her she isn’t as capable as any man. She may not understand her worth when the story begins but she sure as heck does by the time the story’s done. That said, I fell in love with Connor too. It was incredibly easy to relate to some of the things he struggles with: making small talk, schmoozing, big parties and other overwhelming social situations. He is the kindest soul; he coaches youth basketball, bakes and delivers scones to his mom every Saturday, buys 2 extra recliners so his best friends don’t steal his favourite chair. He’s introverted, but that makes him a good listener, and when you can get his attention, he gives you all of it. I really liked that he balanced his work persona—with its’ intensity, busyness and high stakes—with a private life that his 2 business partners don’t know about.
Now Zoe and Connor together? Nuclear meltdown with all of its alarms and buzzers and warnings. This wasn’t a slow burn in the sense of waiting forever for our couple to get together. The chemistry is there from the first pages. Every forbidden touch seems to jump off the page with its preciousness. The lines that are crossed are done so with caution and thought. Yet somehow Scott seems to keep the sizzle between them hot and constant. The reader gets to watch their unacknowledged feelings develop and deepen with each chapter. Their connection is undeniable despite Zoe’s and Connor’s insistence that it’s only sex.
If I could change anything, it would be that Connor’s growth came a tiny bit more quickly. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Zoe’s lightbulb moment and her utter acceptance with zero hesitation, but I certainly wasn’t expecting the same thing from Connor. It would have been totally out of character. I cherished the moments when he allowed himself to wonder about a future. I guess I wanted just a tiny bit more introspection, a little more fight—not physical but emotional—rather than silence or quiet acceptance we often got. That makes it sound like I wanted Connor to be different. I really didn’t. I just wanted to be more in his thoughts while he figured out his feelings.
I would recommend this book to everyone. It was a great read!
"He wanted to kiss her. No, he needed to kiss her. But he was absolutely, positively not going to kiss her."

Temptation was perfection! I seriously have no quibbles with this one. There's no miscommunication, no lying, and nothing annoying about their relationship. Zoe and Conner are two adults with clear expectations, and it was so refreshing to read about characters that didn't frustrate me. Their lives weren't perfect, and the two of them had their issues to work through, but their problems were relatable and understandable.
First of all, I want to say how happy it makes me that Zoe is a confident and driven character. She knows what she wants professionally and personally, and she's not afraid to voice her opinion. I really liked how much Conner respected Zoe, and that the two of them were able to do more than have good sex. He appreciates her for her mind as well as her body, and it really showed when the two of them were together.
I haven't read the first book in this series, although each book can stand on its own, and there were a few spoilers in this one about Tess and Mason. I'm sure I would have appreciated their cameos more had I read their story first! Tess sounds like someone I would really like. Regardless, I still plan on reading the first book, and I'm definitely buying this series for my shelves.
I adored the GPGs and their badass Bridge playing! They're incredibly smart women that have had to fight for their place in the world, and I love how they teased each other and Conner. They welcomed Zoe into their group with affection and understanding, and I really hope they make an appearance again in the future.
Conner was adorable and I loved his quirky behaviors. He doesn't like crowds or parties, and his childhood has left him a little broken. Zoe can see this, and she also recognizes that her past has damaged parts of herself as well, particularly how the two of them value themselves and their roles in a relationship. They don't believe they deserve love and happiness after past mistakes and choices, and it was nice seeing them work out the reasons behind their behaviors.
Temptation is a remarkably well-written story that's fun and left me grinning like a fool! It's sweet and sexy, authentic and relatable, and I cannot wait for more from this author (particularly the other two books in this series). If you need a new romance in your life, I highly recommend this one!
Side note: I'm not a fan of whisky, but now I feel like I should give it another chance after Zoe's experience.
The story is about Zoe, a lawyer by profession and Connor whose company happens be to a client of Zoe’s company. As per law, they cannot have a relationship due to professional relationship. However, they still go ahead and have flings without any expectations. Their relation becomes complicated when they both start feeling more for each other
My Take:
I would like to thank Netgalley and Entangled publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book for reading and reviewing. I further state that the opinion on this book are my own and I am not paid for this review.
I’ve been on a light reads reading spree and this book came across this book and decided to lay my hands on it. To briefly summarise it, the story is very similar to the movie No Strings attached. The story is written from a third persons pov. The book is part 2 of the Bad Angels series and m sure to pick up the first one some time too.
The characters of Connor and Zoe are attractive. They both have their previous baggage which makes them sceptical to fall in love but they are perfect for each other. The chemistry between them is outstanding. The characters have the required depth in them. They are very believable. The book also makes it clear that while in a relationship, people might feel nobody knows but in reality everybody knows.
The descriptions of different brands and tastes of whisky depicts the research that has gone while penning this book. I loved the fact that the female protagonist is displayed as a strong character, having her own opinions and eagerness to learn anything new.
I loved the climax part. An apt ending to this beautiful tale. The book did start on a slow pace but picked up the pace eventually. I fail to understand that why did Leticia hide the harmless secret from her son on her experiments. That could have been avoided but since was required for storyline and a happy ending it was put it that way.
Overall another great light read. If you want to have some smile on your face this is one of the books to be picked up which is releasing today.
The second book in Inara Scott's Bad Angels series sadly didn't feature any lovable pets like the first one (at least not until late in the book), but was a solid romance between Connor, a tech genius angel investor and Zoe, the patent attorney for his firm. Connor and Zoe are good friends through their mutual work together. Connor's been mooning over Zoe for 3 yrs, but afraid to make a move because he's known for self-sabotaging all of his potential relationships. Due to an incident as a child, he truly believes he's not capable of love or trust and he likes and respects Zoe too much to start something. Zoe always thought he was cute, but she is a woman fighting for respect in the tech world and can't afford to get involved with a client so he's hands-off as far as she's concerned.
Once Zoe has an accident and is forced to stay overnight at Connor's apt so he can watch her for a concussion, the walls between them start to break down. When Zoe asks Connor for assistance in wooing a potential new client, he in return asks her to help out his brilliant physicist mom with her bridge club and they start to spend more time together outside of work where their mutual attraction takes off.
Connor and Zoe were perfect for each other. Both of them were givers and caretakers although they'd both been hurt in the past and tended to hide that part of themselves. They were also both smart, driven, and professionally successful so there was no power imbalance. Zoe was a great role model as a professional woman making her way in STEM, acknowledging the barriers she faced, but not whining over them, and coming up with ways to still get the clients, work, and respect that she wanted and deserved. In addition, I loved the GPGs (the geriatric physicist grannies) consisting of Connor's mom and three female scientist friends who were fiercely competitive bridge players and who had all faced and overcome similar barriers in their work life.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It's always amazing to see a strong, determined, smart female heroine, particularly one who works as a lawyer, so it's safe to say I enjoyed this novel. Add in a swoonworthy male lead, some spunky geriatric physicists and tons of chemistry between the two leads, you've got a great read. Characterisation: Zoe Riva. What a fantastic lead. I seriously have to rave about her. I loved how Scott has written her character. She's strong, with a. bit more of a troubled past, she's smart and knows how to handle when the men around her are being dumb and stupid. And though this book may not ultimately be about sexism in the workplace or making your way up as a woman in the workforce, this book certainly deals with a lot of the issues that I know women are facing today - definitely more so in some industries than others. And as strange as it is to say, there are some valuable lessons in that - like, stick to your guns or be authentic. Connor - I really enjoyed reading about Connor and Zoe. They somehow manage to balance each other out well - I guess it's partly that whole opposites attract thing. And it works well. He's the strong and silent type but blames himself for some deeper trauma in his past, which was interesting on a psychological level, to see and examine in the context of the story. Storyline and Plotting: Lovely. It moved at a great rate, not too fast, not too slow, etc. But I would have loved to see some more adventure that Connor and Zoe undertook/undertake throughout the novel. A few more of those kind of moments where they are in another situation rather than just either a few ahem (raunchier) scenes or them chatting (which I did love as well). Overall: A great, solid, romcom kind of read. There are some ever so slightly darker tones in some areas, but not that dark at all. Fluffy, the kind of read you indulge with after a long day. Note: I was generously provided an ARC by the author and the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Temptation by Inara Scott is the second in her Bad Angels series, about the guys in a venture capital firm in San Francisco. Temptation is a friends-to-lovers story, about attorney Zoe Riva and tech genius Connor Ashton. These are two VERY smart people who well, get struck dumb--as we all do--by love.
Zoe and Connor haven't exactly been lucky in love before. Zoe's a woman in the working world, and she's well acquainted with all the ways she needs to out-think, out-do, out-BE in order to exist not to mention compete. She doesn't have time to date, and even when she wants to make time, the options are...limited. Clients are obviously out, and honestly, who has time outside the office anyway?
And Connor? He knows he's broken. He's bad at all the things that make a good boyfriend--he doesn't actually like socializing that much, and much as he tries, there are (too frequent) days that he gets caught up with a problem or project at work, and doesn't come up for food or air, much less friends or a lover. He knows he's a terrible bet, so he figures he'll focus on keeping things uncomplicated and save everyone the trouble.
Connor and Zoe don't count on being thrown together by a scooter accident. Or on what might happen when the blinders fall away and they each see the other not only as a smart and capable friend, but as someone entirely too appealing, someone they might want to kiss...and more.
Throw in some whiskey, motorcycles, and poker, fascinating family dynamics and some excellent friends, and Temptation is a winning read. Ms Scott does a terrific job with Zoe and Connor. We get to see their friendship build into something even more wonderful, and the possibility that blossoms when they are willing to give each other a chance. The fears and risks are all too real, but thankfully their friends and family ultimately are too, and we cheer all the way to Temptation's delicious resolution.
Temptation is the second stand alone in the Bad Angels series by Inara Scott. But when combustible chemistry takes over, even the smartest people in the room can make the biggest of mistakes.
Temptation is a friends to lovers romance that had me hooked from the start. I was in a bit of a reading slump- where nothing was really making me eager to get back to reading after having to put the book down for a moment, and this book broke that streak. Zoe is a strong, successful, and professional woman just trying to get ahead in a field that is still dominated by deals made in bars and over sports. Connor is a smart guy that is more than a little shy and socially awkward. A chance encounter has them each pondering crossing the border of friendship into something more- but they each have emotional scars and professional qualms about taking the next step- until they cross the line anyway. I loved the sass and straightforwardness of Zoe, and Connor's sweet nature. The secondary characters, particularly Connor's mother and her friends, were great fun while the couple's mutual friends added some honest talk and advice to even things out. I honestly found myself routing for our couple from the very beginning- even when their efforts to seem nonchalaunt had me face palming. The read hit all the sweet spots, heart, heat, and humor and left me grinning one the last page. I just might be going back to read the first book in the series, but I will definitely be putting Scott's name of my list of authors to watch for.
Temptation is a contemporary romance with strong characters and a nearly perfect balance of heat, heart, and humor.
I was looking forward to this book. I thoroughly liked the first one and I adored this one. It manages to be fun, angsty, sexy and heartfelt at the same time. Zoe Riva is a great lawyer with a sad past that is constantly struggling to be seen as an equal in her field. Her story resonates a lot because it's not about the big things women might encounter in their work spaces, like harassment or plain discrimination, but about the little subtle things that are there and not even the best partners realize: deals and conversations being made while playing sports, giving an advice against pursuing a client that they wouldn't give to a male colleague, etc. I enjoyed that the author digs a little deeper in the daily things, the ones that go unnoticed and show some of the struggles women go through even with the men that have the best intentions. Connor Ashton's company is a client of Zoe's law firm and therefore she's off-limits, no matter how attracted he's been to her for years. Besides, he has a lot of trust issues, tends to forget commitments and is overall an introvert. But when Zoe has an accident and Connor is there to help, sparks fly. And after that, it's really hard to go back to the way things were. I loved this book. I loved both Connor and Zoe individually and as a couple trying to navigate the situation they were in and the attraction they felt. I loved that they both made mistakes but that they were open and honest to each other most of the time. I liked that it wasn't an over the top conflict but actually two people trying to overcome their past issues and scars. I really enjoyed that the resolution wasn't that they fixed each other, but that what they felt for one another was the motivation to grow and evolve. I can't wait for Nate's story as he's been my favorite, but Connor and Zoe do have a special place in my heart :)
Temptation by Inara Scott is the second book in her Bad Angels series. In this book, Zoe is a patent lawyer who also has an engineering degree. She is a smart, strong young woman, trying to make her place in a world dominated by men. Zoe is not the most co-ordinated person, nor is she known to be athletic. However, she is determined to get on the good side of one of her clients by trying out a scooter they make. As she’s soaring (albeit slowly for most others), she sees a jogger and she becomes distracted looking at his butt. She suddenly realizes it’s a friend, Conner! And then scooter meets light-post! Conner determines she may have injured her wrist as well as may have a concussion, he takes her to the ER, and then offers to have her stay with him so he can ensure she does Nothing for at least 24 hours! It was quite funny to read how Zoe (a typical Type A woman), reacted to the news that she wasn’t to look at any electronics, books, TV, etc, but stay in a dark room with nothing to ensure her brain was not injured. This is the beginning of the non-relationship between these 2 characters.
I really enjoyed learning what made both Zoe and Conner the way the were. And I loved the GPG’s (a group of intelligent retired women) who pull Zoe into their fold. The strong relationships with friends and between Conner and Zoe left us screaming at the 2 that they were meant for each other and for friends to encourage their relationship.
This is a fun romance with strong characters, interesting use of facts about whiskey, electric motorbikes, cold fusion, patents and basketball. I can’t wait for Nate’s story!

Temptation by Inara Scott is about the friendship-slash-repressed attraction between Zoe Riva, a bold and smart lawyer who wants her rightful place in a world dominated by men, and Connor Ashton, a tall yet reserved tech guy who is also one of the founders of Livend Capital. This attraction grows into something explosive, and the next thing I know, I was going emotional over this book. Two broken and complicated souls who found themselves in love with each other sound cliche but if you give this one a chance, you definitely won’t regret it.
First of all, I loved that this book is feminist. From Zoe’s headstrong demeanor to the GPG’s (Geriatric Physicist Grannies) strong and caring nature. All of the male characters looked at Zoe as an equal, and they never did once doubt her ideas and skills. There were times when they warned her to not proceed with some endeavors, but not because they did not believe in her. Those warnings were out of concern.
Second, this book had a good mix of light and heavy matters. I wasn’t actually expecting anything from this one other than it being steamy, but it surprised me in a good way. Aside from the sexy scenes, things like running a business, motorcycles, cold fusion, whiskey, forgiving others as well as yourself, were also discussed and I learned a lot.
Lastly, I found it so easy to connect with the main characters. Their back stories made them more relatable and I loved how the plot developed though it did not get exciting until the middle part.
I’m giving it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. It would have been a 4 if not for the occasional typos. I recommend this book to suckers for romance and a little bit of smut. This is the second installment for the Bad Angels series but it can be read as a standalone.

Temptation by Inara Scott is the second book in her Bad Angels series. Ms. Scott is a new author for me so I'm reading this as a stand alone without any problem. Although I now need to read Heartbreaker which is Tess and Mason's story.
At her client's urging Zoe Riva is riding a electric scooter for the first time what she didn't count on was crashing into a post while waving at Connor Ashton (did a mention she was gazing at his butt?) Her wrist is fractures and she has a mild concussion which Connor volunteers to watch her for any worsening. It was funny reading how hard it was not to get on her computer or phone and not get caught. Knowing they are lawyer and client means they shouldn't be involved but could they just say it's a fling? But it's Connor's mom and her GPG (Geriatric Physicist Grannies) who are hilarious and teach Zoe how to play bridge and love Connor's scones. Connor Ashton loves his friends and their Livend company but he really doesn't know how to be around women but Zoe has been a friend who he wonders if they could be more. Her scooter crash and having to be watched for 24 hours gives him an opening to explore if there's more. Trying to hide their feelings from their friends becoming hard. When Zoe goes decides to go for Southcycle's business has Connor teaching her about Whiskey, electric engines and sports temptation is hard to resist.
I did love this book with Zoe, Connor, The GPG's and of course Milton who a virtual assistant to Connor's mom. I give this book 4.8 stars .
When I started this book I was in need of something that would lift my spirits and remind me why I enjoy escaping into a book so much. Fortunately, Temptation was just what I was looking for. The book tells the story of Connor, who has been in love with Zoe since he first met her. The only problem is that he's rubbish with relationships and she is a lawyer with the company that deals with his company, which means that she's off-limits. After an accident on an e-scooter Connor and Zoe find themselves spending more and more time together and the attraction is not just one way. Both Zoe and Connor are great characters. They both have issues with relationships from their past and their upbringing, but in many ways, it is this that makes them perfect for one another. Connor is very sweet and caring, despite thinking that he's not. I have to admit that I do love a caring hero in these kinds of books, so he was onto a winner already. Of course, their issues mean that it's not smooth sailing, but that's what we come to expect and want from these books after all. There was nothing insurmountable and I was left completely satisfied by the end. The secondary characters are great, particularly Connor's mother and her friends. Who wouldn't love a group of geriatric female physicists who play bridge? This is the second in a series and while I think that the couple from the first book appear, I don't' think it mattered that I hadn't read their story. I also assume that a future couple already has a few sparks flying between them in this one. This was an enjoyable read and exactly the kind of book that I was looking for. Great stuff.
Zoe is a partner in a law firm together with 2 other male partners. Their biggest client Livend Capital also happens to be also headed by 3 partners. The 6 have grown to firm friends and interact both socially and professionally. When Zoe tries out a scooter as a favour to one of her client’s who wanted her to try out their product, she quite literally bumps into Connor, and ends of spectacularly crashing head first. As a precaution for concussion, Connor is adamant in taking Zoe home with him so that he can keep an eye on her, given that she lives alone & has no one. When Zoe confides that she is hoping to land a major client who has a leading edge company that designs and builds electronic motorcycles who has a reputation for being somewhat sexist, she asks Connor for help in coaching her so that she can hold her own in a “guy” conversation; whiskey, sport and motorcycles are the 3 things the prospective client is passionate about & it just so happens that Connor is an expert in all 3 (of course). Connor is just the most wonderful beta hero. He is the quiet guy of the group but a technical genius. Naturally shy and introverted, who avoids parties and crowds. He can get immersed in a project to the exclusion of everything else & conveniently uses that excuse to avoid going out. Connor has been attracted to Zoe from the start but with their client-customer relationship has not acted on it. Until he & Zoe start regularly seeing each other as he “coaches” her. A solid read.

I am SO far behind in reviewing books it isn't even funny. This particular book was published in August of this year, and honestly I would suggest that anyone who is a fan of cute romance novels check it out. It was right up my alley, and exactly what I needed to get my mind off of all of the stress I am going through at the moment. I generally am not a fan of the "will they won't they" sort of romance, but it was obvious from the beginning that Zoe and Connor were going to get their HEA, which is a plus for me!
I also liked the focus on women in STEM and the lack of women in tech jobs, and how Zoe was trying to work to change that. Zoe herself was a smart, beautiful, clumsy girl who was definitely worthy of her man's love--even if she didn't know it in the beginning. Connor was a nerdy whiskey aficionado who likes to cook... Is there even a more perfect man on Earth? #bookboyfriend. The two had been friends forever and didn't want their "relationship" to ruin what they currently had. Both had serious hang ups about relationships that they were able to work through in order to make their relationship a real thing.
This wasn't a hard read. It isn't groundbreaking or anything. But it was funny, cute, and gave me an escape. I would definitely read more by Scott, including the first book in the Bad Angels series, and any more she chooses to add.
When I began reading the book, I had my apprehensions because this was the second book in a series, and I had not read the first one. However, this book was so beautifully crafted to be a stand-alone book, and not having read the first didn't really set me back at all. The story revolves around Zoe and Connor, thrown together by a scooter accident. They're both fighting their inner demons that load them with fears, hesitation, paranoia, and anxiety, all of which don't make things easy for them to fall in love. But the chemistry is striking. I loved the characterization, and the way Scott has treated Zoe's character.
Zoe is not a swoon-any-time kind of a girl, but is a headstrong engineer turned lawyer, and that makes her all the more alluring. Reading about the Geriatric Physicist Grannies (GPGs) was an absolute delight. :) The group, consisting of Connor's mother and her comrades had me in splits all the time.
I loved Scott's writing and narration. The book cruises through pleasantly and there are no nasty bumps. The pace is perfect, neither too fast and jerky, nor too dragging. I loved this book. I'd strongly recommend this to all sweet romance genre lovers.

Temptation is my first book by Inara Scott and even though it is in my least favorite POV, I enjoyed it. It’s a light easy read story about two people who should not be together, while they both know what’s at stake, can’t hide their attraction to each other.
The story begins with Zoe having a accident that results in a concussion which, our hero, Connor tends to. Their attraction grows during this time but they can’t possibly be together because they are colleagues. The end stakes would be high for them both. But if they agreed on no-strings-attached relationship then all should be copacetic. Right?
You know where this is heading.
I liked the story-line but I found myself getting a little bored in spots as it is a slow paced and lagged a bit in certain areas, it could have been a bit shorter. With that said there are plenty of things to like about it. The secondary characters are great. Oh the GPG or better known as Geriatric Physicists Grannies. They are a real hoot! It is written really well, so it’s easy to read and be entertained throughout.
I would happily recommend it to others, and if you’re a fan of a sweet, easy going contemporary rom-com, then Temptation is for you.
