I just finished this, so my thoughts are still rather messy. I'm going to hash out a few things.

- I only gave this book 3 stars because of the Zinnia plot. Without it, it would've been a flat two stars. Zinnia's struggle was the heart of this book and the only thing that kept me reading. I wish the author had focused much more on that than all the "wacky" things that had been going on around Zara. Related spoiler: Plus Zinnia wasn't really active in her own rescuing, which was really frustrating. To watch everyone just *do* things for her, and it all shakes out just fine.

- Zoey continues to be a non-character as this series progresses, and it's really sad. Zoey is one of the best characters in this world, and to see her forgotten or tossed aside for other, newer characters like Maisy and Ambrosia is disappointing. I continually find myself missing the flow of the first five books, which were much more grounded in Zara, Zoey and Zinnia. Zoey has one crucial scene in the whole book. ONE. While newer characters (Ambrosia) or much more annoying characters (Margaret) have multiple. Why is Zara so worried about her protege rather than her actual daughter? It's annoying as hell.

- For some reason in this book it feels like the author thinks just having chaos left, right and center makes for a riveting plot. It doesn't. Things are constantly moving at a breakneck pace and then resolved just as quickly without much weight or consequences. With this book, it's gone beyond fluffy into annoying. I'm pretty sure I keep reading these books because they're easy and have little consequence for the series, like comic books. But it's a real letdown because they used to be much better.

- Why is everyone so awful to Zara in this one? She's been a witch for less than a year (as far as I can tell) and she's had a ton of shit happen to her. Dead relatives being not so dead, finding a long-lost love, kind of losing a love, gaining a vampire boyfriend ... and those are just the things I *remember*. Yet in this one, everyone seems to have something to bitch about when it comes to her humor, her parenting, her attitude. I like Zara just the way she is. She's interesting and funny and doesn't take any shit. I don't want that to change.

- I want Maisy to leave the series. She's annoying and pompous and rude and arrogant and *mean*. I'd much rather have more of Zoey and Zinnia or Chloe and Carrot, than Maisy. Please let her choke on a coffee bean and die, or something.

- The whole romance with Bentley feels like a waste of plot space. It's been awkward and rushed since the beginning, and I don't think that it's getting any better. I wish the author had paced things out and let them fall in love at a more natural pace. Perhaps this was the author's plan all along, but ever since the Daybreak series started it just feels forced. I wish she'd back off some and like it flow at a slower rhythm. The whole brief moment where he wanted to felt borderline gross. He has no place in that triangle right now, he's just Zara's boyfriend. *I* wanted to smack him and tell him to back the fuck off.

Those are my main thoughts, pretty uncensored. They're still fine enough books, and light, swift reads. But as the series keeps drumming on, I feel like we're losing more and more of the shine and wonder that made the first 3-5 books so good.

I know that this is book 11 in a series, and I know that I've read all the previous books, but I still think that any one of them can be a good fun stand-alone. Although this is by way of being a backstory to the others, it has the feeling of a prequel with all things new again. And the laugh-o-meter is still stuck on high! No recap here and spoilers are silly when the best part of the book is how it makes us laugh regardless of life!
The audio is narrated by Tiffany Williams who has the character interpretation skills of an operatic coloratura (that means that she can make character definitions no matter how many there are!).

I loved this! I love the way Halloween gets some of the supernaturals excited and others not as excited. I didn’t like that the castle was being demanding about the costumes they wore and almost everyone’s was denied. I love that Zara had a separate party and how when everything went wrong they were able to save the castle. I hated how the little girl was draining Zinnia but love how she was the reason she was alive. I felt awful for Zinnia when we found out the backstory to the little girl. This was one of my favorite books.

2021 bk 12: Halloween gone sideways - the best explanation for all that happens to Zara, her friends, and family the week of Halloween. This book had more plots than the number of noodles in a plate of spaghetti - but Pepper works her magic and brings it all together in a magical ending!

I think this one was one of my favorites out of the series! Zinnia’s story was so sad yet beautiful. It was the first book of Angela’s that made me cry.

I really wanted to like this book more than I do, especially because Zara's first witchy Halloween is something that I've been waiting to see. However, this book is more frustrating chaos than anything else. The big standout in that regard is the ending where . Seriously? There wasn't a better way to explain that one that wasn't completely out of character for at least one (if not both) of them?

Zinnia's storyline was interesting and heartbreaking. But after knowing the Zinnia from past chapters, it wasn't enjoyable to watch her take such a passive role in finding a solution. And yet again, I found myself frustrated that Zara swept her feelings under the rug when she had to choose between being rightfully upset at Zinnia and being the peacemaker that she was expected to be. It's a little odd for a character that always talks about venting her emotions and thoughts.

Zoey has somehow become even less of a presence in this book than in the previous ones, and I didn't think that was possible. She gets less scene time than some of the newer characters, and I don't like how she almost feels like an afterthought.

Speaking of weird non-conflicts, I'm not sure where this tension between came from. I may need to go back and reread the previous books, but I feel like it suddenly became an issue in this book.

Bentley was out of sight, out of mind for most of the book... and I was completely fine with that. That first scene where ? I had some capital letter thoughts while reading it.

But despite all of these gripes, Angela Pepper always manages to make this big softie cry for at least one chapter, and she didn't disappoint when ... and that's saying a lot because Margaret was exponentially more annoying in this book than the previous ones, and I was ready to throttle her.

All in all, I think I had higher expectations for this book than I realized. It's not my favorite installment in the series, but despite my complaints, I don't hate it either. There are still many elements that I enjoy--Zara's developing relationships with Persephone and Carrot, her friendships with the Wakeful sisters, and her house's eccentricities, to name a few. It just feels like a lot of things that brought the charm and zing to this series are getting left behind, and that's disappointing.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As the Riddle approach a year of living in Wisteria, Zara reflects on what she has been through, the friends she's made, family discovered and the farewells she may have to make in the near future.

There are two main storylines - Zara planning a Halloween party as a protest to the restrictive costume rules from the Water Department's own Halloween celebration. Zara's new friends and family get to spend some quality time in the limelight,

Zinnia has a storyline that includes flashbacks throughout the book. I cannot get into details without spoiling important plot points - but this story was more somber and heartbreaking than anything we've seen in Wisteria so far.

If I had one complaint it would just be how large the mood swings can be from switching between Zinnia's darkest moments and the fun of getting to see Zara trying hot yoga. Emotions are high and things get real. Things get messy and the whys and wherefores are doled out in pieces, so you are kept guessing what the full plot of the book is until nearly the end of the novel. Angela Pepper does not rest on her laurels just because this is the 11th book in a successful series. She really challenges herself as an author and tries a structure we haven't seen before. If she does no hit a home run, she doesn't strike out either. How many bases she rounds in up to your personal taste and experience. Consider yourself warned.

As the cast grows, I continue to be amazed at Tiffany William's narration and her ability to give everyone a unique voice, switching back and forth in scenes with varied characters present in combinations we haven't seen before. She is a vocal chameleon that can bring any character or fantastic being to life - even if they're undead.

This book was still entertaining and any stay in Wisteria is always welcome but if you wanted just more of the same - then you will get more than you bargained for,

Superb characters, humor, descriptions with adventure, and humor

The more of these Wisteria books I read, the more I love them. Love, love, love them!!

The characters are believable, quirky, and funny. Their dialogues, arguments, and interactions are accurate portrayals of how people really talk and behave. And funny to boot!

I've called friends and family up to read them wonderful sections of each book. They all love hearing the sections and laughing at the funny bits. Even my almost 95-year-old aunt loved it. (Of course, she has a well-cultivated sense of humor.) It's most satisfying to share these quotes with others who appreciate them too.

The kooky things that happen and Zara’s thoughts about them and herself are wonderfully entertaining and relatable.

The other characters are expertly drawn. The moody teen who's also wise, smart, and sweet. And maturing. The serious but handsome and capable detective boyfriend who's more sensitive than one could guess. The mentor aunt, Zinnia, herself a fascinating person, who trains Zara in her newly discovered witch abilities. Her best friend at work, Frank (Flamingo) Wonder. Her best girlfriends who happen to be gorgons, etc., etc., etc. Her pet cat Boa and Wyvern (small dragon-like, magical, ancient, and opinionated being who talks to Zara in her mind! Her HOUSE! Even her house has character, judgments, and agendas (so far unexplored) that motivate unexpected actions and changes in its structure, giving the dynamic plot another dynamic.

In short, wild, wacky, singular characters take on fearsome to mundane challenges, surviving them in gutsy, sometimes desperate, but always laugh-out-loud (LOL) ways.

This is Zara and family at...well, not their best, but definitely entertaining! Zara is looking forward to her first Halloween as a witch. She, and most of her family and friends, are invited to a black tie costume party sponsored by the DWM, but when their costume ideas keep being rejected for not being PC, Zara decides to throw her own party. In the meantime, Zinnia is growing very weak. The coven tries to intervene on her behalf, but there are some monster sized repercussions.

Ultimately, this book is about Zara discovering that she has been negligent of other peoples feelings, and taking some family members for granted. By the end of the book, she is allowing herself to work with others, and as a team they send a big problem back to the realm it came from.

Overall, this book is delightful. Although it ties up a lot of loose ends, it opens the way for new stories. An excellent 10th book in the series!

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:

It's another very well written and very well narrated installment in the Wisteria Witches series.

As in all the books in the series you can expect the unexpected; nothing turns out as planned, nothing works the way it should and Zara really has to think hard to finally find the solution to all the problems and mishaps on the way to the happy ending. And also this time we go back and find out a bit more about Zara's aunt Zinnia - which is a nice turn of events, even though it's not happy times we're revisiting...

Narration by Ms Williams is as good as in the previous installments; she gives life to all the characters, perfectly matching voices to their personalities. A very good job, for sure :)

Zara is dealing with so much in this book . She is having a party at her house for everyone. She is looking forward to it. Things are not going so smoothly with the rest of her life. Zinnia is having a problem, she is out of it. She is hiding a major secret, they could cause other issues.
While trying to figure out Zinnia, Zara and Bentley are having their own issues in their relationship. Zara and Bentley will have a lot to work out. Zara also finds out some terrible news about Archer, Zoey is not handling it well.

There are so many good moments in this book, that this is a must read book. This series gets even better with every book. I highly recommend this book/ series

I received this as an Advanced Reviewers Copy to read and give an honest review. I knew from the 3rd sentence that this was going to be a wonderful story. I love all of the characters and the ones who are shape shifters and the fact that once you know what they actually are you can see the similarities in their human vs shape shifter personas. As Halloween approaches Zara is tasked with an almost seemingly impossible task to rescue her friends and loved ones from an unknown entity (demon?) at a party. This is one of my favorite series to read and follow and it just keeps getting better and better. I've already read this book twice and loved it both times. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Another great book in this series, fun and entertaining, but with an underlying theme on family bonds and family love.

I truly enjoyed it, although I miss Zoey. She's not having a lot of 'screen-time' in this one, and I really miss her interactions with Zara and Zinnia.

And Zinnia! Shees! Her background story is so sad... and we know now why she has such a florid wallpaper. I loved the way in which Zara fought for her. And how she was willing to, literally, give a piece of her soul, to protect her daughter's happiness.

Because, at the end, this is what this book was about: family, and the things we are willing to do to protect it.

As always, Tiffany Williams did an awesome job with the narration.

Wonderful

Wisteria Woven is now my new favorite book in this series. I love how the characters have grown and changed throughout the series. Each character brings something different to the group. This story was beautifully written and covered the range of emotions from happy to sad but woven together perfectly. I laughed and I cried. Too me, that's the components to a book I love. The book also had depth and meaning that I rarely read in books in this genre. I'm looking forward to reading more from Angela Pepper because she's one of my favorite authors. This book deserves a few extra stars.

Wisteria Woven is a true delight. It is almost Halloween in Wisteria and Zara cannot wait. Unfortunately the supernatural influences surrounding both Zara and Zinnia is have other ideas. This book is packed full of drama, problems, supernatural beings and the most incredible characters and still finds room for quirky humour. I love this series and this book is one of the best so far. No spoilers, but if you are a fan then this book is for you. If you are new to Angela Pepper and the Wisteria Witches then I suggest you read the other books in this series first. I cannot recommend this book, and series, highly enough.

Definitely not another blithe romp!

I just love these Riddle women and this paranormal cozy series. This particular storyline is quite an emotional departure and definitely does NOT read as light, escapist fare. "Wisteria Woven" is packed with weighty themes: what makes a family; loss; what role perception plays in life; and, how many ways repressed issues can manifest. The author adroitly weaves clues to the mystery throughout while providing a more nuanced characterization of Zinnia and giving Zara opportunities to grow. It should be interesting to discover how relationships will evolve with the eagerly anticipated return to fun, magical mayhem!

Another Great Wisteria Mystery

I really enjoy this series, it's geared for the YA to adult reader but also still a fairly clean read. I love Zara's sass and it is fun to watch her interact with the different characters. This book does some hopping around in terms of flashbacks that slowly help you to piece the puzzle together. The narration is perfect as always and really just makes this a fun listen. This is book 11 so I would recommend starting the series from the beginning or you will be a touch lost.

Zara and her magical friends find themselves coming to the aide of one of their own. Their quirky spells are fun and ridiculous but seem to work. Wish we could have had more time with Bentley but he wasn’t part of the story this time. Book 11 picks up where the previous left us so I’d say you need to follow along with the series. As always I was charmed by Zara’s quit witty banter, the friendships and the intriguing mystery. Another fabulous adventure in Wisteria. I received an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily.

This is Wisteria Woven, book 11 of the Wisteria Witches series written by Angela Pepper. You will love all of the characters in this wonderful town of Wisteria! Zara, Zoey and Zinnia Riddle are back and trying to solve another mystery. There are creatures of all sorts in this town, from witches, mage, genies, shifters of all kinds and even the occasional vampire! This book really hit me in the heart too as part of the past was told for one of the main characters. It’s definitely another DON’T MISS READ by Angela Pepper!!

Zara and Zinnia her aunt are at their witchiest for Halloween

Zara the Soul Witch and her daughter Zoey are caught up in Halloween going ons but notice something wrong with Aunt Zinnia. She is fading away. So they call on the coven for help. Only nothing is working right so they call on others for help and it gets worse. Then on Halloween the world blows up, at least their section, and everyone has to jump in and try to fix it. This story needs an eight star and the series needs a nine. I am completely hooked.

Wow! Halloween has hit a new level of scary. Zara and Zinnia are trying hard to make thing right, but the supernatural does what it wants when it wants. Love the interaction between the residents, you will laugh at the many crazy situations they find themselves in. This series is very entertaining. The characters and the world building are fantastic. Wisteria Woven (Wisteria Witches #11) was a good read by Angela Pepper. This Halloween is the first one that Zara Riddle is spending as a witch. A little girl ghost shows up. This spirit is stubborn but it may be connected to a family member’s past. Zara wants to get to the truth and will do whatever she needs to. She winds up pushing the whole coven to the breaking point. I really enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

3.5 or maybe 4 Stars, Idk. I liked this a lot better than the previous one. I really enjoy getting to know more about some of the characters and seeing everyone interact. It took me a while to finish it though because life just got busy. That's why I can't decide on a rating. Might revisit that someday in the future though.

Excellent 12th book

I got the first book about Wisteria Witches free, thanks Angela, and I was hooked. I immediately bought the next 9, waited and waited for the next. Number 11 is just as awesome as the first 10 and I cannot praise it high enough. I’ve already pre-ordered the 12th book in the series. You won’t regret buying this series.

Fantastic

Halloween is coming to Wisteria and that brings fun and games along a aplenty for Zara and her friends. In this book we learn more about Zinnia and her passion for florals, have a tissue ready as tears will come but also smiles too. Do Zara and co save the day what do you think?

This one had a few very emotional scenes but still brilliant.

I really enjoyed this book even though one scene in particular had turned on the waterworks. There were many laugh out loud moments too. Be sure to read the series in the proper order in order to get the best experience. I also think it should be made into a TV series.

Different but still excellent!

I never want a Halloween like this! It was exciting but horrible at the same time! It felt like you were dying along with Zinnia. Thank Goodness for Sara and Am risks coming up with the right solution at the right time. No one can say this book was boring.

4 1/2

In this book we learn a lot about Aunt Sunni and past and the loss of a loved one that shaped the person she became. We also see more character growth in Zara. The sassiness and humor are both still present, but some minor editing/continuity issues keep it from a five star rating.
