Interesting, quick read that tells a concise story of a noble American Indian. I am always looking for great books on history, especially Native American history. That is something we need to hear more of.

I mean, seriously. The painting on the cover isn't even Cochise. That's Naiche. If nothing else, at least get the image right.

A children's intro book. Read it lounging under a shrub high up in the dusty San Juan Mountains of Arizona, overlooking a grand sweeping plain. Had just finished eating the best pancakes ever cooked indoors or outdoors. One of the top two backpacking trips of my life. Is it the book's fault that the setting was more interesting than the book itself?

A great biography on an interesting character that shaped the history of the Southwest. The author gives us plenty of interesting trivia on Cochise and you learn not only the good things, but the bad things as well. A great read on a interesting person.
