There is more than one author with this name Dr. Andy Williams
After graduating from Hull University (North Humberside, UK), I went on to do a Ph.D. at Cardiff University where I studied endocrinology in fish. After working as a research associate at Cardiff University I decided I wanted to be a teacher, so went back to University (this time Birmingham) to study for a teaching certificate.
My first teaching job took me to Tenerife, Spain where I met my wife to be. After a spell of teaching in Madrid, we went back to Tenerife. Two kids later, we now live in North Wales.
On a day to day basis, I write "How To" books and courses related to websites, SEO and other topics of interest to anyone running a website.
I downloaded this book on Kindle, and then I used it as a hand-on manual on my phone while building my website on the computer. The benefit of downloading the book on Kindle is that I can highlight the various link cited in the chapters and revisit them when needed. This manual is excellent for a start. However, you need to be intuitive as well and wanting to learn and explore by yourself as the author will give you little challenges during the way. I suggest you download this book if you are looking to start something like a blog but you always been insecure on how to set up a host, a website demand and security settings. I definitely feel more comfortable with those tech-words after finishing the book! Note: There is a Glossary of all the essential terms you will need to learn just at the end. I found it essential to go back in there when looking for a new term. From there, where should I look at for exploring the visual designer aspect of the blog, such as colours choices? I have Astra theme as suggested in the book, and there are many options of colours to choose! I just need a bit more understanding of that aspect as I love the creative side of the blog as well. Thank you
I ordered this book a couple of years ago to help me navigate my WordPress blog site. When I first went through it, I found it daunting. But recently, I read it again due to WordPress being even more daunting. This time, I followed the book as it was intended as a tutorial. I went through the tasks while practising them on my blog site, and things came together much more understandably. I skipped the parts that I didn't need to know, and WordPress became easier to understand. I will keep this book handy and refer to it when necessary. This book explains things well and has lots of screen shots, that make it much easier to follow. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand WordPress. Bearing in mind that the author has probably written a later version.
I've read from too easy (simple) to rather challenging code (techie) and this one is just right for a broad understanding of WP! The author states at the beginning of the book to read it along while following the steps on the dashboard. So, that is how I read most of it... I played around with the program so much that near the end I started to speed through it. However, there are too many tips at the end to speed through. I found myself slowing down again to highlight things to employ once I was done with the book. It really is a perfect starter book with so many useful tips; especially about building the legal items & SEO updates!! If you decide 2 code then you will also need a more advanced book. The one authored by the WP developer is very good too!
I was channeled towards this book as I had taken a couple of Andy’s Udemy courses on WordPress and Elementor but wanted a complementary beginners reference. I was delighted to see that Andy’s exemplary tutorial style was equally evident in this book. I would strongly recommend the book to anyone who is a total newcomer to WordPress or who, like me, had been floundering around with website creation without a clear plan or knowledge of the software.
I went from knowing nothing about website creation to having the knowledge and confidence to create a wordpress website. Easy and simple to read. Now I'm going for Andy's seo book
This author is fantastic at breaking down explanations, making it accessible, and making you feel prepared and confident in your new skills. I highly recommend this book and his Udemy courses.
