I love to cook and right now during this pandemic, I feel like I am cooking more than normal.  I don't think I really am but it just feels that way.

I was excited to receive this cookbook in the mail and as usual, these sisters know how to put together a cookbook and make it simple so that cooks of any skill level could use these recipes.  I might even be able to convince my husband to try his hand at some of these dishes.  As you leaf through this cookbook, the brilliant color photos leap off the page and many times I found myself stopping and gazing (okay, maybe drooling) over the photos and adding the recipe to my queue to prepare.

The cookbook is divided into sections for Breakfast, Lunch, Main Dishes, Side Dishes, Snacks and Desserts.  This book covers pretty much any possibility when it comes to mealtime.  With a wide variety of options, you are bound to find a recipe for even the pickiest eater.

I'm always looking for new ideas for main dishes and found quite a few I wanted to try here at home.  I had most of the ingredients on hand so it was easy to whip up the dishes.  Everything turned out delicious and we were quite content.  So far I have tried these dishes: Grilled Cajun-Lime Chicken, Honey-Lime Grilled Chicken, Garlic Steak Kabobs, and the Lemon-Garlic Salmon.  Side note, I think the lemon garlic sauce for the salmon would be divine on chicken too.  For the lime, I did substitute bottled lime juice because I forgot to purchase limes on my grocery run, but it still turned out well.  Even though I'm in Texas, our grill hasn't been used in a while (yes I know, that is blasphemy) but I had a grill pan I used on the stove.

As I was leafing through the book while writing this review, I stumbled across a Loaded Bell Peppers breakfast recipe and I think I might have found my next dish to try one weekend morning.  There is also a Dark Chocolate Zucchini Cake that looks good.  I wonder if I could make that and not tell my husband about the zucchini and he would eat it?  Something to think about.  I also just stumbled across Baked Cinnamon Apple Crisps, what a healthy snack, and just 2 ingredients - apples and cinnamon.  I could go on and on but I keep finding new possibilities to try and this cookbook is going to be a staple in my repertoire.

We give this 5 paws up

I love Six Sisters. I use their website at least weekly. Their recipes are usually quick, easy and delicious. And their cookbooks are some of my very favorites.

I really loved their attitude about this one. They want to give people what they want, lower calorie options, but really diet is all about balance. It’s okay to eat a higher calorie dinner or even a treat sometimes. And it all should taste good, or why eat it?

There are a bunch of recipes that I want to try from this one. I’ll just admit that with the COVID-19 stuff going on, all I really want to eat is comfort food. And there are some ingredients in some of the recipes that I just don’t have right now.

I did make a pork chop recipe from this one that my family really enjoyed. They were easy and quick to put together. And they turned out juicy and flavorful. I would definitely make this one again. And I’ll be trying more recipes soon.

I was sent a copy of Healthy Eats with Six Sisters’ Stuff as a gift from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I have never reviewed a cookbook before, but this was quite a fun project for me. I didn’t think I could do it justice unless I actually MADE the recipes.

And considering the ever eternal black hole that is lockdown, it’s obvious I have more than enough time.

Thank you to the publishers over at Shadow Mountain for giving me an ARC of this to review! This is one cookbook I will forever have on my counter to have easy access to quick and healthy meals.

First up: the 3 ingredient avocado salad: page 152 (5 stars)

Honestly, serving sizes have to be considered a suggestion at some point cause somehow this delicious “side” was considered 4 servings. YES. FOUR DIFFERENT SERVINGS. I could have eaten this whole bowl by myself. I might have eaten this whole bowl by myself…..

Don’t judge. It was bomb.

Next up we have Italian Peas: page 139 (4.5 stars)

Am I the only person who adores peas? If I am, I judge you pea-haters. This one was delicious as well. It’s a quick and yummy side to add to any meal. Or to eat by itself. Have I mentioned I love vegetables?

Here lies the make ahead rice and bean burritos: page 69 (4.5 stars)

I loved these. Now, my husband is a full on carnivore, while I am a vegan. I found that several of these meals were easy to substitute or leave out an ingredient like cheese, and it still tasted amazing. These burritos are yummy, and a bonus is you can freeze them and have them meal prepped for another day. We, obviously, ate them after cooking in the oven. They were crispy and warm and made our Friday like a party. My only complaint is that I wanted a bit more heat. So I added some chipotle hot sauce and extra salsa on top and called it a day.

Healthy Avocado Chicken Salad: page 49 (5 stars from the dude)

I did not partake in this meal, but my husband attested that this was amazing. It made plenty for leftovers, which he later turned into a sandwich. I loved the look and smell of this. One thing the Six Sisters’ gets abundantly right? Their love of avocados. I love avocados as well. It’s a match made in heaven.

Egg rolls in a bowl? YES.
(Page 96 - 4 stars)

Did I substitute tofu for meat? Also yes.

Did I have coleslaw or the ingredients to make coleslaw? No. But I made do with spinach and red onions.

BUT WOW. This was TASTY.

If you aren’t vegan, follow the recipe with the suggested meat. If you are vegan or are wanting another alternative to meat, might I suggest:

Press firm tofu for at least 20 min to get most of the moisture out.

Add a “marinade” or “rub” to the tofu (I used one found here (OneGreenPlanet). I omitted the water and soy sauce since these were going to be added in the skillet. But I rubbed the spices into the tofu and let it fry in the pan before adding the veggies.

Shredded Beef & Sweet Potato Tacos: page 70 (3 stars)

The husband enjoyed these, but considering I followed this with the chicken avocado salad? There was a clear and present winner. Also, I ended up using steak instead of the shredded beef as that was what I had on hand and I didn’t put the steak in the mixture with the sweet potatoes because I wanted to have some for my dinner as well.

I guess I failed at following the full recipe. But he enjoyed these anyways.

I made several other recipes and have many more on my “to make” list, but I picked my favorites. I highly recommend this cookbook if you are trying to eat a little healthy, but want to make meals that aren’t crazy involved. Also, most everything is easily found in your pantry and doesn’t require a lot of hunting for ingredients at the grocery store. Win-win.

We love a good breakfast in our family, but since we love sleeping in more it's normally just toast and cereal for us. When this cookbook came along my kids decided they were going to be the ones to make things, and I really appreciated that the recipes were simple enough that they had no trouble making things.

My 11 yr old made the Chocolate-Banana Blender muffins. There were all really intrigued that you used a blender to mix this instead of a mixing bowl. Because these are naturally sweetened and we eat loads of processed sugar, my kids thought the cocoa power made this a little too bitter. Cocoa power isn't something we use often and they definitely aren't used to it.

They all enjoyed the Banana-Oat Pancakes, and they had those and the left overs for breakfast for a few days. Again, my kids made this and it was simple enough and quick enough to satisfy their talents and abilities.

Let's not forget a desert here. Like I said, we like sweet things in our family. My 9 yr old made the Raspberry Frozen yogurt, and she loved it! She really enjoyed that you could switch out the fruit. We didn't have enough of one kind of fruit, so she added raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Because you have to freeze it after she set her timer on Alexa and then proceeded to keep asking Alexa how much time was left until she could eat it.

There are so many more recipes that I want to try and I love this great resource for easy healthy recipes for my family.

I was very happy when I found out The Six Sisters had written a healthy eating cookbook. I have loved using their recipes for years. I've changed my way of eating the past several years where I eat low-carb foods, especially a lot of veggies. It was amazing to see so many recipes that I could use. There are also so many recipes that are low-calorie for those that watch their calorie intakes. After reading through the cookbook, I could see this was a very well-rounded cookbook using healthy and natural ingredients. My own kids were so excited to start trying out some of the recipes. They especially were enthusiastic about trying the breakfast recipes. We sat down and immediately started making a weekly menu just from the recipes found in this cookbook. Some of our favorites:
Blueberry Protein Pancakes, Scrambled Egg Breakfast Muffins, Healthy Avocado Chicken Salad, Lemon Garlic Salmon, and Dark Chocolate Zucchini Bread.

As always, the actual book has beautiful photographs of all of the finished recipes and clear and easy to read directions. I also like how most of the recipes have few ingredients that are easy on your budget. The recipes I tried were prepared quickly and I didn't spend a lot of time in the kitchen. This cookbook is a true winner for me and my family and for other families looking for healthier recipes.

Healthy Eats is another great cookbook by Six Sisters’ Stuff. It’s a beautiful, full-color cookbook with a picture of each recipe (a must have for me). The book arrived at just the right time for me. I’d been eating so poorly during this quarantine/social distancing, and it was part of the motivation I needed to make some good changes.

We absolutely loved the 3-Ingredient Avocado Salad and the Caprese Salsa. I’ve made the salsa a couple of times and am excited to make it again. I don’t care for fresh onion, so I left that out and cut back on the oil and balsamic vinegar. Both of these are in the side dishes section, and are super easy to make.

The White Bean Chicken chili is also very easy, and a big hit with my family. I’ve made it two or three times and am happy to add it to my go to recipes.

I was a bit surprised about how much I liked the cinnamon-banana baked oatmeal. It was tasty and great to have on hand for several days. A nice and easy grab and go.

The Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl was also quite delicious. I hadn’t really thought about having sweet potatoes for breakfast before, but having it with the pecans, coconut, strawberries and cinnamon (I did those instead of blueberries and almond butter) made for a great breakfast.

We have a lot of other recipes marked to try and are looking forward to it.

Six Sisters' Stuff to the rescue! After months of quarantine and eating, I need some healthy options for my family. The cover is bright and beautiful, and the photos throughout are well done. Each recipe has the nutritional information, and each is under 500 calories. We liked the Scrambled-Egg Breakfast Muffins a lot! They were easy and delicious, and I liked that they are flexible enough to add or subtract ingredients to personalize them. We also enjoyed the No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies. They're basic no-bake cookies, but we liked the addition of the peanut butter. Neither the Easy Banana Cookies nor the Dark-Chocolate Zucchini Cake turned out for us, unfortunately, but it could have been a user error. There are a bunch of recipes I'm excited to try: Easy Marinated Pork Chops, Lemon-Garlic Salmon, and Cheesy Zucchini Sticks. Mmmmm! Thank you Six Sisters! I know I say this every time I review a cookbook, but I really love owning cookbooks, especially if they're full of easy, tasty recipes. This book definitely fits that bill, and the recipes are healthy to boot! (Something I REALLY need after being in quarantine for 6 weeks!)

My absolute favorite recipe so far is the sweet potato breakfast bowl. I've eaten that for breakfast the last 3 days and plan on having it tomorrow too. The green smoothie and banana breakfast smoothie will be in regular rotation too. My oldest son even had the banana smoothie, and he never drinks those!

My entire family enjoyed the gyros, although the tzatziki recipe makes a ton of sauce. We have so much of it left over! (Side note: I used that in my egg salad today instead of mayo and it was pretty tasty.)

I'm looking forward to trying many more recipes out of this book and am very happy to add it to my collection.

I have nearly all of the Six Sisters' cookbooks. I think this one might be my favorite. It's come out at the perfect time. With the weather getting warmer, we tend to shift to lighter eating and this cookbook is filled with great, easy recipes for eating healthier. I like that it's divided by meals. It's not just about dinner, but there are options for breakfasts, lunches (which make great dinners too), dinners, and snacks and desserts. yay!

I have already added a few to my menu and have bookmarked a few more to try in the coming weeks.

I did receive an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion--and here you have it. Bon appetit!

This has become my new go to cookbook. Everything I have made from this book, my kids have liked. That's pretty much a first at my house. I will say that I didn't necessarily have the exact "healthy" ingredients in my house right now (due to the quarintine), but all the food has been really good. The recipes are fairly easy and straighforward for someone who doesn't enjoy cooking very much. I highly recommend this to everyone from the seasoned chef to the person who doesn't like to be in the kitchen.

I don't love to cook, but I do cook to feed my family. I love Six Sisters' recipes because they are not overly complicated and they are meals my family enjoys. The first recipe we tried from this cookbook was the 'Easy Marinaded Pork Chops." It was a huge hit! I did the marinade and my husband grilled. The family can't wait for more. Another favorite from this book is the "Healthy Avacado Chicken Salad." it is perfect for a summer day!!! I love the large photos and clean layout. This book is so easy to work with and encourages me to cook more.

Fabulous book !! Easy to follow recipes with most ingredients that either in your pantry or refrigerator. Beautiful pictures of the dishes and includes nutrition info for also. Being a diabetic it's nice to have recipes that include number of Carbs and Sugars beside calorie count. Also includes number of grams of fats and fiber. In one cookbook you get recipes from Breakfast Items, Pizza, Wraps,Tacos, Chicken, Salmon and cookies that are easy, tasty and healthy. YUM YUM

Haven't tried any of these recipes yet, but one thing I always love about this group's recipes is they are simple and somewhat uncomplicated. I have loved other of their cookbooks more than this one. This one didn't have as many recipes as I wanted to try and they definitely felt like more "my" type of recipes I would like than my whole family would like. Overall, the book is awesomely printed and organized and I love the pictures. You always know what you get with their books, which is good.

This is a great, family friendly cookbook. True to Six Sisters' style, the recipes are easy to make, the ingredients are easy to get or things you may already have; and the instructions are clear. And this includes full nutrition information. Probably the best chapters for me were the sides - they do a lot with veggies - and the breakfast casseroles.

If you're trying to cook from scratch more and eat healthier, check this out. It has some great recipes and is very easy to use.

Six Sisters Stuff Healthy Eats is a practical, simple, healthy cookbook with an attractive, color picture accompanying every recipe. The ingredient lists are short without the need to run out to specialty stores. My favorite sections were breakfast and snacks and dessert. The only thing to make this cookbook better for me, would be to have more vegetarian recipes.

Not earth-shattering recipes, but simple goodness using ingredients I usually always have on hand. When you’ve eaten every meal at home since early March, it’s nice to have some new combos. This would make a very nice cookbook gift for a beginning cook.

This book is full of healthy recipes that also look very yummy. My family has enjoyed all of the ones we've tried so far. I plan to try about 80% of the rest over the next few months. Photos and nutrition information are included for all of them. Many are on their website, but not all.

Even being a vegetarian with a vegan husband, there are still lots of good recipes in this book. For me, it has always just been easy to remove the meat from a recipe, it is harder to make them vegan. There are several vegan recipes included.

A few good recipes to add to my recipe box that are healthy and delicious. Some are similar to ones I already have so it wasn’t crazy inventive in terms of new ideas but easy recipes for someone focusing on healthy ingredients without busting budget. Worth a look.

My idea of healthy is not the same as the Six Sisters. They seem to embrace every fad rather than traditional wisdom or scientific research. But I did find a couple of new ideas to try.
