Read as a standalone story or, as Book 5 in the Guesthouse on the Green seriesTwo Christmases, two second chances. A heart-warming and laugh out loud O'Mara family Christmas story.
Roisin O'Mara has already suffered through a pre-Christmas, Christmas in London with her insufferable soon to be ex-mother-in-law and husband. Now with her son, Noah, and an unexpected extra guest in tow she's arrived in Dublin for her second Christmas. It's not just her family Roisin's looking forward to seeing though. She hasn't been able to stop thinking about Shay, the man she met on her last visit home.
But the timing was wrong. It still is and she's not sure he's someone she should let get close. Everybody deserves a second chance at love though, or so her mammy says, but will Roisin miss out on hers?
Cliona Whelan was a woman born before her time. She put her career before love in the days when a woman couldn't have both and success came at a cost. Then, a Christmas card arrives offering her a second chance, but is it too late?
This year come and spend Christmas with the O'Maras. There'll be laughter, and tears, a roaring fire to curl up in front of, mulled wine and cake, lots of cake.
Michelle Vernal is a bestselling author of warm, witty, and uplifting Irish fiction. Born in England to parents from Liverpool – often called “Little Ireland” – she grew up on her mum’s tales of Iocal families, music, and humour. Later, she lived, worked, got engaged, and travelled extensively in Ireland, experiences that inspire her much-loved novels, including the hilarious Guesthouse on the Green series. Her stories, filled with heart, humour, and unforgettable characters, have earned her a loyal readership worldwide.
As I read this whole series, this book is the one I truly think should be made into a movie! It may be a little too outspoken for Hallmark, but still, it was hilarious! And the “A” typical type of family Christmas for every family on Christmas Day. Loved it!
Christmas at O'Mara's is heart warming and a fun read. There are moments when you want to hug Rosi and cry with her. And, other times you can't help but laugh out loud at the sisters and their mother antics. Rosi is suspicious of her brother and his girlfriend coming to Ireland for Christmas. But, she doesn't want to rock the boat and keeps the suspicious thoughts to her self, even if she is right. American readers will get a kick out of Patrick's girlfriends California diet. And, the Ken and Barbie depiction of the pair.
I love the O'Mara's books and the humor and snark and family. Set at Christmas, this book had even more family dynamics and events. The addition of the unruly poodle and gerbil made the plot even more fun and the importance of family during the holiday season shone through. It was great to catch up with the characters and revisit the Dublin guesthouse and colorful characters. This book had a secondary story that was more serious and poignant about a young woman trying to break through the glass ceiling.
I've loved every book in the series and this was no different. The O'Mara's are the kind of family that anyone would love to have. They might disagree but in the end they have each others backs. I hope Michelle Vernal writes many more books in this series. It would be like losing a close friend if the series ended but I've lived long enough to know that you can't always get what you want. I'd read anything the author writes.
The fifth in the series, Christmas at O'Mara's continues the tale of the trials and tribulations of the O'Mara family in a wonderfully humorous style, full of love and warmth. A real Christmas treat.
Another warm and wonderful “winner” for Michelle Vernal and those who follow her work with a promise, a bonus of a new book to be released in only 8 weeks on Valentines Day 2020. I can’t wait for the next O’Mara book release.
The daughters lives are getting more exciting,Maureen is evolving too. Wonderful holiday read! I was confused by the story within the story until the end and the epilogue, though.
A story of second chances and Christmas, with all the Irish tradition. The I'm are family all gathered together for a great Christmas read, with a sub love story.
This was such an enjoyable book to read it kept my attention with wanting more details. Especially the family Christmas dinner! Thank you for writing a fun book!!
Book 5 in this great series covers Christmas period where the whole family is together, including brother Patrick who lives in L.A. And his girlfriend Cindy.
Second chances are a bit like Christmas presents, don't you know? The O'Mara women build their lives and assist their guests to build their lives. And, even though Mrs. Flannery hates the fox, he is still allowed to raid the bins, much to the delight of young Noah.
This was the enjoyable treat I expected. Familiar characters: the O'Mara sisters, the (I find) irritating) mother, a crazy dog and a guinea pig. There was a flashback to a previous time and a woman who to her later regret, rejected a suitor. A piece of Christmas candy -
Something's always happening with the O',Mara sisters,Christmas time!
I love the differences in the sisters.they are alike in ways, funny and never at a loss for words.this book made me laugh out loud more than once.great fun to read.I want their story to continue! I want to be in this story with them.
