Orphan Train Brides

Become a bride or lose her children!

Asked to help with recording who took which children from the orphan train, Merry and Polly Bird took advantage of their position. Determined to liberate five quirky, ragtag orphans not likely to be adopted by caring people, they vowed the children would not end up as they had fourteen years ago. Back then, Merry and Polly and the two boys adopted with them from that orphan train worked as slaves. They received little food, substandard living quarters, and insufficient clothing to protect against the cold winters.

Mary and Polly’s children love their new home and family at the sisters’ Mockingbird boarding house. The rescue idea appears to have been a great success—until the supervisor from the Children’s Protection Society arrives. Single women are not allowed to adopt. Merry and Polly each has five days to find a suitable husband who won’t steal her share of the boarding house.

Two award winning and bestselling authors conspired to bring readers these two heartwarming stories, A Family For Merry and A Family For Polly in the duet, Orphan Train Brides. In addition to Orphan Train Brides, the authors have in their future projects a duet about the two brothers, Bart and Newton Bird.

(The two novellas in Orphan Train Brides are expanded from previous inclusion in the Under A Mulberry Moon anthology.)

Orphan Train Brides

What two enjoyable books under one cover! I love the sweet storyline in each one and how they are connected. There's a wonderful cast of characters, main and secondary, especially the adorable and cute children. The ending is very satisfying and happy. JudyE

I enjoyed reading about Merry and Polly Bird and their brothers. The couple that adopted them was mean to them.

Having lived a horrific life as adopted orphans to some farmers, Merry and Polly Bird decided no orphans would be mistreated or left behind without a family that cared for them. They were single, not eligible to adopt children, BUT, they sort of manipulated the paperwork so they could save five children from returning to the orphanage and bring them into their home. It worked for awhile until the legal heads of the orphanage discovered the two were not married. They could not have these children they loved so much. These stories are wonderful and it’s an interesting concept to have the orphan train, adult orphans and now little children to begin the cycle of finding happiness and homes. I enjoyed this book and the only problem I had was my own mind in that I did become a bit overwhelmed with the number of names used throughout the story-line. There’s a lot going on so you won’t get bored by the book and I recommend the story for all those who love orphan books with an HEA.

Sisters with a plan.

Orphans adopted by a cruel husband and wife treated cruelly and finally grown and on their own. Now afraid of other orphans having the same fate, decided to adopt 5 children even though not married. Their plan fell through but they loved the children and didn't want to lose them. The adoption man said only if they found husbands could they keep the children. Twists and turns

Abused Orphans

Sisters by adoption come to the rescue of orphans who might be mistreated because of their appearance. Merry and Polly had it ruff when they were adopted and didn't want the children on the orphan train to fall into the same sircomestance. This leads to some challenges to overcome so they can keep the children they adopted.

Delightful story!

Rescuing orphans was of paramount importance to Merry and Polly because of their horrible treatment by a couple who adopted them. Quick marriage worked!
